Stopped in for a pint. Decided I needed a couple of Scotch Eggs. Not sure why I was so surprised by the bill when it came, but that's what'll happen when you don't look at a menu. Next time I will!

Loved the authentic Irish vibes you get at this bar. Irish music playing in the background as you chug your cold Guinness. I had 3 beers (half and half and 2 Kilkenny's) along w my crispy fish tacos and fries! Staff members were friendly and did an excellent job pouring my beer w perfect foamy head! Would visit again if in town, but for thos visiting, make sure to get a cold one!

Right across from the Long Beach Convention Center, the Auld Dubliner (located in the Pike Place Shopping Center) provides an authentic Irish Pub experience for locals and conventioneers, alike. Our group of three had a chance to stop in for lunch after catching a movie, and it ended up being a good experience, albeit pretty expensive. They don't have lunch specials, so expect to pay around $20 - $30 per person before tax/tip. (Happy Hour is after 3). Our small group had varied tastes, so decided to try various things to share. Our server was gracious in giving us extra plates. Fish & Chips ($24) - battered & fried haddocks with hand-cut chips & cole slaw. It was one giant piece of haddock filet, covered in an excellent batter. It's SO greasy, but had been deep fried very well, and an excellent example of a British fish fry, for sure. The fries were quite a bit thinner than chips I've had before, similar to any well deep fried fries at any fast casual restaurant. The cole slaw was fine. Beef Dip ($20) - really liked the bread, soft enough to easily eat without dipping, but sturdy enough to eat quickly if dipping is your thing. The meat was OK...thought it was sliced a bit thick, and there wasn't that much of it. Irish Nachos ($16) - for the price, thought it would be quite a bit better It was beautifully made, but basically nacho meatless toppings on top of the same generic fries. They do have a list of traditional British favorites, including Scotch egg, Gunness beef stew, and shepherd's pie. None of which really hit our fancy, so perhaps would be better to get those unique items vs more standard items that most restaurants have.

Went here for St. Patrick's weekend since it was walking distance from our hotel, by far the best Fish & Chips I've had. The bartender was nice and service was on point. Loved the acoustic music of Ashley that night covering all the 90s rock music I enjoy. Can't wait to come back!

Excellent food and great service! Serving size was generous. Fish was lightly battered with great flavor.

We were waxing nostalgic for the Auld Dub, so away we went. There was no wait and there was a group of people at a table playing Irish music...I don't think they were Irish music enthusiasts who meet up, I think they were paid to play? They really set the tone for a great weekend. I wish I would have gotten the name of the band. If you love bar food, Irish music and an ice cold beer, this your place.

My friends and I were looking for a place to grab some food and drinks before heading to the queen mary dark harbor event. We decided to give this place a try. At the front of the entrance there was a sign that says, grab a menu and find a seat. We came here on a Saturday evening around 5pm. Our server took our order once we were seated. Two of my friends and I had the fish and chips and my other friend had the pub burger. The fish and chips was okay. The tartar sauce didn't have much flavor. Very bland in my opinion which made the fish and chips alright. The fish was good but nothing special. I do have to say our server was great. Brought our drinks quickly. Overall this place was okay.

Rolled in on a Saturday night with my girl to catch the SC game and run through their Halloween cocktail list, and we had a great time. Service (5 stars for Louie) Huge shoutout to LOUIE behind the bar dialed in all night, never missed a beat, and kept the vibe fun without ever letting our glasses run dry. Absolute pro. Drinks Kicked things off in true Irish pub fashion with a couple Irish Car Bombs, then dove into the themed cocktails * Poisoned Apple Martini -- best of the night for me it was crisp, seasonal, and balanced. * Vampire Kiss -- also good, festive without being too sweet. Closed the loop with another Car Bomb because...tradition. Atmosphere Classic pub energy with plenty of game day buzz, and once the live music started the place really came alive. Good crowd, lively but friendly perfect for posting up at the bar, watching the game, and soaking in the scene. Bottom Line A strong spot to grab a drink, catch a vibe, and enjoy some themed fun it's a solid 4 stars.

Unexpected positive experience here; it's by the pike outlets so my expectations were set pretty low - but this is an authentic Irish bar with great bar plates and a fine Guinness pour. Bartender super friendly and made great recommendations.. if you're into Irish taverns you must try it !

Came here for lunch during Day #1 of my conference across the street. I ordered the Half and Half, the Guinness BBQ Burger and Champ. The beer is always yummy (big Guinness Fan!) the burger was juicy and the BBQ sauce was yummy. I just wished there were more sauce (I like a lot). The champ was super yummy and it added flavor to the already yummy mashed potatoes. Next time I'm in Long Beach, I know where to go. I love my Irish Pubs. Also, they had live music The wait from sitting to getting my drink order was decent but I assumed my sitting spot was slightly hidden.

We've been to the Auld Dubliner a couple times, when we visit family in LB. The food has been good, we enjoy the beverages, and live music. It's a fun spot to go with a group!

Overall good experience. They definitely do things differently here. Our server seemed overwhelmed. I want to say she was probably the only one on the floor taking orders. Came on a Tuesday night before going to see a play/musical. I noticed they had a large group of people there for Trivia night. Although she seemed overwhelmed she handled it very well. The Shepherds Pie was a 7/10. Tasted like a shepherds pie. Nothing special about it. Hit the spot though. The Fish and Chips was a 6/10. Would have liked more meat. Would probably not order this again. I'm not going to shift blame on our server. She was busy. I felt they should have had more servers on the floor or at least helped her when they noticed how busy she got. We waited some time to get greeted. Thereafter, we waited long to get her attention to order a second drink. The food service on the other hand was fast. Like, a little too fast. I was wondering how they cooked these dishes that fast. Most likely why they were a bit lacking flavor.

A pretty solid pub right outside the Long Beach convention center! Our party went out for a lunch during our visit and we all enjoyed our time here!! It was pretty funny how everyone got the fish and chips aside from myself, but I have a personal tradition of always ordering the shepherds pie whenever my family goes out to a dine in pub. It's my soul food and I'm always curious to see how the different houses do it! While portioned small, the shepherds pie was mighty, super filling and yet light on the palette! You could definitely taste the Guinness mixture in the ground beef! I shared some fish and chips with my boyfriend and the fish was super savory! Not my usual go to order so I was definitely impressed! Between the great food and excellent service by the waiting staff, we'll be sure to be back if we stop by Long Beach again!

1 Star - Worst Experience I've Ever Had at a Bar…read more I've been to The Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach before but what happened last night deserves to be shared. I came here with a friend last night and ordered a blonde beer that tasted completely off -- it genuinely tasted like blue cheese. My friend encouraged me to ask for a replacement since something was clearly wrong with it. When she brought it to the bar, the bartender told her he'd replace it and that it was on the house, but then made her pay for the second drink anyway. If I had known she'd still be charged, I would've just not asked for another drink. When I came up to the bar to clarify why she paid for something he said was comped, the bartender backtracked and said he "didn't mean" that. I asked if they could void the second charge, since this was supposed to be a simple replacement. He kept explaining that he is charging us for this second one because it was not a blonde, it was a white ale. I told him that's fine, but why did he say it was "on the house" and now charging us anyway? He ended up bringing over the manager. The manager was a short, Latino man with a hat on. He was incredibly rude from the moment he arrived explaining the beer was a blonde- which I know what I ordered, but tasted whack. He didn't look at us, didn't listen to anything we were saying, and without asking a single question he grabbed both drinks we paid for and dumped them down the drain. We were stunned -- we paid for both of them and now had nothing. When he came back, I calmly told him we paid for both drinks he just threw out. His response? "Don't expect to come here and get free drinks." Which is wild considering we never asked for anything free -- we were just trying to get the mistaken charge fixed. When I told him he needed to void the drink he dumped, he called security on us. We weren't loud, drunk, or confrontational. Security refused to give us the manager's name, and only one finally whispered "Ken," though at that point it felt like they were just saying anything to get us out the door. I've worked in customer-facing roles before. I understand dive bars aren't known for luxury service, but this wasn't about service -- it was about basic respect, integrity, and not charging customers for drinks you throw away yourself. I'm leaving this review as a Long Beach local, it's saddening to see how a popular bar like The Blind Donkey treats their customers. This was the worst experience I've ever had.
