Going to give this a complete 5 star since I believe this is the core entertainment of the ship. The many times I have visited, this bar has not failed me to get some decent drinks with a good vibe to come with it. Prices is that of any entertainment place you visit $$$ The ambiance is that of a Titanic movie feeling. 20s or 40s decor. Queen Mary tries its best to have social events at this bar. From Karoake, swing dancing, and live bands. You can sit here for hours to lounge and socialize. It recommended for couples since it brings somewhat of a romancing feeling. You cannot just come on board on the ship anymore just to get drinks at the observartion bar. You must have a valid reason to be on board. Dinner reservations, ghost tours or bing loco nights. I highly recommend coming here after any events you have on the ship. The bartenders are really cool people. If it gets hot, you have the option to sit outside. Had some extra time before attending a tea on the Queen Mary and decided to have a drink here first. My glass of chardonnay was really good, so good in face I had a second one :) The charcuterie board split between three of us, was ok. The crostinis were stale to me. The rest of it was decent. The service lacked a little, I had to track down the waiter to ask for my second glass of wine, and then again for the bill. We did get a window table which was nice. read more

What do you mean plastic cups for martinis!? The bar itself, average or a little less. Was hoping for a cool vibe old school vibe, but..... We had to pre-buy/ register tickets for this...why? I wpuld assume to make aure there was enough room? Enough food and drinks? Staff? Efficiency? Glasses?...what? It opened at 4pm...I was told, got there at 5pm? Got in line for a drink. The line was up the stairs, finally get to the bar order a dirty martini went to look for some seats or a place to have to crew meet while the other waited for our service. They walked up with a martini...in a WINE GLASS . I tried drinking it but kept getting jabbed in the nose by a olive skewer. Walk back up to the bar cause this was silly, to find out they are out of glasses and are considering moving everything to plastic cups. By this time it's only 5:40, it took this long to get a martini with the line in a wine glass, because they ran out. So they finally brought out our munchies (or what they called "Small Bites" on the menu) to our standing area. Ordered charcuterie and an artichoke dip. Small bites was about right, also looked like someone may had stolen a couple small bites from our board. Was like they found a fancy "Lunchable" took off the bad parts tasted a couple others and gave us what left. Check the green grapes un the picture. How does a partially empty stem look good to display? Someone left their table to us and we put our stuff download jackets on the chairs. Asked the people right next to us to keep an eye while we walked out to take a quick picture in the sunset. Came back, food was gone, cocktail was gone (guess the ice to tequila ratio was even too much to them) and another table took our chair, even though the others we asked to watch our chair sid something (they said...I am suspect of that though ). Got the chair back....left the food gone though, maybe they saved us from eating too much (I mean, who really can eat a whole Lunchable?) Maybe next time we go back for the ambiance, a free cup of ice water on the help yourself counter (provided the server doesn't take all the ice, yes, that happened while I waited to be polite), bring my own flask (seemed like some vets of this place were experienced in this here), and eat before we go. The Observation Bar, at the front of the ship, is a lounge bar serving contains and small bites with seating featuring views of downtown Long Beach. The vibe is chill, feels like you're in a lounge in the 40s... maybe... Weekends, there used to be, not sure if they still do, have TVs up to watch football while you sit and sip. Drinks can be hit or miss, friends who is making them. I've had some wonderful cocktails, and some that were not great at all. So really just depends who is behind the bar that day. Came to the observattion bar to enjoy some live blues and jazz. The band that was there was okay, there was no saxophone and some the jazz was definitely missing however we still had a great time. The bar is very popular as you will find seating to be difficult - they were at max capacity when I went. You can order drinks and the waiter will come to your table. It is worth it to come here for the HH (4-7 p.m. Monday to Thursday) and enjoy the beautiful sunset view. If you are visiting (not an overnight guest), there is an additional admission fee to enter the cruise (discounted to $15 at 6 p.m.). The cocktails were exactly what you'd expect at a touristy bar - so I wouldn't come here for any culinary innovation. But the cruise is worth checking out if you are a fan of the art deco designs. read more

My hubby and I come here every now and then, to enjoy their cocktails and the breathtaking views of Long Beach from the Queen Mary. Service and food are good, and the ambience is pretty romantic. Christmas, New Year's celebration and Fourth of July are probably the best events here in my opinion. The history of this place is enough to give it a five. I may be biased here as I love old ships and basically, everything classic. The Observation Bar makes the experience on the Queen Mary extra special. We work group recently gathered here for a farewell party, and we all loved it so much. It was a lot of us' first time and you basically go online to reserve tickets or spot, you can do up to 4 I believe. Then when you go check in they will scan your QR code and you can take the elevator or stairs up to the 4th level. This bar is so nice. I love the Queen Mary, I love historical landmarks and iconic things so to be able to drink and swing dance in this bar, it was so magical to me. There seemed to be a swing/dance club birthday celebration there for seniors, and they were all so fit and sweet and so cute. The live bands were good and our server was awesome despite how crowded it was. We got a table and our server was on top of things taking care of us. I was surprised at their food, it was pretty decent in my opinion. My colleagues got a few stuff but I only had the octopus tostadas, which was pretty good for the location! I would get that again when I come back. It's healthy enough, the tostada was soggy/chewy and not crunchy but we didn't mind that. They also have HH menu. I came here to have dinner for a celebration and while we waited for our table to be ready, we stepped into the Queen Mary's Observation Bar. Being in there with the art deco, the ambience and the touch of old world glamor, it was perfect to have a nice conversation without being overly loud. The drinks were rich, smooth, and with the right kick. I was able to capture a nice picture. I brought my husband back to this bar after brunch on The Queen Mary. We always feel like we stepped back in time, in this beautiful bar with gorgeous art deco architecture. The velvet chairs and views out towards the front of the ship make it feel like you are on a cruise, but highly elegant. It almost feels like a hidden VIP bar, with delicious drinks and appetizers, and great service. We are looking forward to attending events on The Queen Mary in 2025 and coming back here again and again. Keep in mind that there is a fee to enter The Queen Mary unless you have brunch reservations. Unsure if other restaurants allow you passage onto the ship. read more

Found onboard the Queen Mary, this bar is designed in a 1930s style and gives you an idea on what it must've been like to be onboard the ship while it was still active. A great bar complete with classic music. Good drinks. I know they serve some light bites at times, but we didn't try them. Prices are good during happy hour and still not that bad during regular hours. Super comfortable seating inside with some beautiful views overlooking the ship and the harbor. Take a seat by the window and enjoy! Overall, a good stop to enjoy a drink and the ship while onboard the Queen Mary. read more

We saw a notice on Instagram that they have happy hour on Tuesdays with free parking and free admission from 4-8pm (screenshot attached). It also states that there is no reserved seating, first come first serve. While digging through their website my friend found a link to make a reservation which didn't make sense but we did it anyway just to be on the safe side. We arrived around 6pm, and at the front, and people who did not have a reservation had to pay $10 to get in, contrary to their advertisement. It was cool to see the Queen Mary, the music was great and people were dressed up. The views of Long Beach at night are pretty awesome. All their drinks are served in plastic cups though, and food options are limited. We ordered drinks and kept a tab open. When my boyfriend went to close his tab, they had given his card to someone else and charged several rounds of these other people's drinks on it. Thankfully, they were still on the ship when we found this out, and we were able to get everything fixed but it still took some time. The food was not great, drinks were pretty sweet, which is why I decided to get a glass of wine instead. There was a smaller bar outside with no line which is where we went. The regular price of the wine was $12, the happy hour price stated starting at $8, but the bartender charged us $14! When we asked why, he didn't even know. He said he just pushed the button, and he wasn't able to fix it and get me the money back. We weren't happy with this so he poured us more wine, but it's just not right nor what we wanted. The last straw was that they were going around and telling everyone happy hour ends at 7pm, again contrary to their advertisement. This place could be great if they clean up their act and improve their customer service. As of now, we won't be going back. read more

The weekend before our stay in late May 2023, I was beyond excited to see the Queen Mary posting on social media that the Observation Bar was re-opening in time for our visit. Prompted by the pandemic, the entire ship had been closed for the past three years to complete renovations & repairs. As part of their projects, the Observation Bar was completely restored & refreshed during this time. Though I never saw the space previously, I'm in love with the final result. After we checked in on 05/25/2023, we wandered the decks & then stopped in for a drink. I ordered a cranberry & house vodka, and was delighted to see it was only $6. Hubs chose a cocktail from the menu for ~$15. Both drinks were tasty; I was paying & I have no complaints. Service was great, and we enjoyed the retro vibe. I only wish we'd had more time to visit again. The art deco style was fantastic, and I felt like we'd stepped back in time! And, of course, the views were amazing. read more

My husband and I decided to hit up the Queen Mary on a Tuesday based off of rave reviews by our friend. Well, let me tell you, it was a blast! First, the people watching. Now, I don't say this in a "People of Walmart" sort of way, full of judgement and disparaging remarks. No, the people who frequent this bar on Tuesdays are here to be seen! There are so many people dressed up either for the theme of the live band or in 1920's fashion. We loved just seeing all the different styles. Pro tip, you don't need to be dressed up but I want to now! Second, the music was so good and at a great volume. I could talk on my husband but also hear the fabulousness. Third, there are drink specials and food specials. Our server was amazing! Trying to get drinks through this crowd to the table should be its own Olympic sport. The downside, the drinks were fine, not great. It is stuffy on the ship and in the bar. We sat by a door and that was amazing. We were comfortable while many others looked much hotter. Pro tip, bring a fan. It's also very popular. Finding a seat was hard. My husband and I showed up at 4:30 with no seats to be had. We went to the bar in front of the Chelsea Chowder House and had a bite to eat there and a drink. We went back and luckily found a seat. People stay put for a while. Wow, just wow! The spectacular view of Down Town Long Beach / Pike was just awesome. The drinks were tasty and very affordable. The wait staff was ok, felt like we had to ask for stuff rather than asking if we were ok. We really enjoyed the BBQ chicken flat bread pizzas as well. But what stole the show was the entertainment....JAMES KING was FANTASIC! Singing all the oldies like Elvis, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra.......such and entertainer.....we cannot wait for James to come back...we will be there front and center! read more

Then SURPRISE SURPRISE you are told you have to PAY $45 EACH for the honor to get on the boat and to the bar. Do you get maybe a free drink at the bar for your $90 cover charge? Nope, do you get ANYTHING for your $90 cover charge NOPE. Sure you get on the boat and can walk around and get a guided tour if you want (most don't because they are going to a BAR) but tell me would you take a group of friends there? Would you go back? Though the Observation Bar is stunning in its art deco splendor, tonight's service was far below the stories first class service once offered. No one welcomed us, and it took 40 minutes for a server to visit our table. We got our own menus while we waited. The signature drinks were good, and the food was typical bar food, but nothing special. They delivered two plates and two sets of silverware for our party of four. Huh??? It felt as though we were an inconvenience or afterthought to our server, though we spent over $200 for our party. Add the $15 entry per person without any credit at the bar and it was a $300 pre dinner and drink experience. I would happily pay that if the service mirrored the cost. Sadly, it did not...and I have visited several times before with much better results. Poorly done, staff. read more

We have been on the Queen Mary several times and were even married there, it is honestly one of our favorite local historical spots. Unfortunately it never seems to be managed very well, and this continues to be an issue even as it's owned by the city of Long Beach. We stopped by the observation bar after our tour to get a drink because we'd never actually had one there before. The bar itself is beautiful of course, classic art deco decor and a view of the bay (which is filled with trash). The bar is SEVERELY understaffed. One bartender and one server were the only people working and the bar was full! I felt so bad for these workers who were clearly overwhelmed and struggling to keep up with all the guests. As a result we waited quite awhile for service, waited longer for drinks, and our check never came so we just left our money on the table and walked out. I don't blame the servers or the bartenders they should have had support and it shows more poorly on the management who is understaffing. Also we sat down at 4:10, ten minutes after the bar opened and they were out of a lot of ingredients. I had to switch drinks because they didn't have Mezcal or absinthe. There were flies in the bar which I get is hard to control on the bay, but the amount INSIDE the bar was pretty gross and really makes you question the cleanliness of everything. Based on the service, and the overpriced drinks I would not come back to drink here and I don't really recommend it either. Walk in, check out the decor and the original furnishings, but wait and get a drink across the bay at Shoreline. read more

Went here on July 1 with my daughter after doing the harbor cruise for a dollar. We found out about the free entrance to the Queen Mary for Tuesday Evening Happy Hour from a passenger on the boat ride. I forgot her name but what a PLEASANT SURPRISE!!! People dressed up like from the 1940's and dancing to the music. What an experience!!! Something that I will not soon forget. The drinks were good my only complaint is that they don't have much on their happy hour menu as regards to food but it was a very enjoyable experience that I recommend it be tried at least once. read more
