I stumbled into here on a random Friday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It's a cute & clean bar/ restaurant with an open space filled with natural light and spacious seating. Ashton was both the server and bartender and let me just say he is ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT! Ashton provided extraordinary customer service, professionalism, personality, and overall VIBE! The craft cocktails are bomb yall. I ordered the "doin' time" and the presentation is really pretty OH ANDDDD they just dropped a new happy hour (12pm- 5pm, but one get one FREE wine, beer, seltzers, and signature cocktails, AND fully portioned smokehouse favorites & bar bites) which is truly one of the best in Long Beach!! I ordered the loaded brisket baked potato, wagyu slider, and mac brisket. ALL 10/10 highly recommend & seriously can't beat the prices with the portion sizes! The service here is completely nonexistent. We have been three times and every single time there has been an issue with the service. We went on a not busy Friday night and left because we were ignored for 30 minutes. I raised my hand several times and it's like the guy was just completely ignoring me. I know he saw me, which made it worse. The music is also unnecessarily LOUD. Showed up tonight, with a reservation at our reservation time. No hostess to be found, front of the restaurant had junk everywhere including a thing of Play-doh behind the host stand on the floor. Had to seek out someone who was surprised we had a reservation, we got sat, were given both food and drink menus and then a server came around about 10min later and said the kitchen was closed right now because it was too busy and it would be at least an hour. It was 745pm. Why did they seat us? Why were we given a food menu? Why didn't they cancel the reservation? Decided to stay for drinks because I had heard good things, it was just okay. I expected some sort of management apology, invitation to return, nothing. One of the most bizarre restaurant experiences I've had in a while. read more

Honestly so disappointed on the experience we had here. We were truly excited to come all the way over here to try something new but at last the service and food was just bad. The blonde girl with short hair was dismissive. The second server was friendly at first but after the food and drink order were taken we were completely ignored. No "how's your food" "another drink" "no how was your experience " no service. My fries were cold and soggy. My friend's sandwich was soggy and missing sides. The drinks were 20$ each and honestly didn't taste like they had alcohol. I trusted the 4.5 stars they have. But honestly it's not even close to that. Not worth your money or your time. read more

Heard about this place on Facebook. They were having a FREE tasting and mini tour so we got tickets to it. We got to taste their gin, rum, vodka and whisky and they had 1 tiny food sample at the end. It was brisket and delicious. I was ready to leave since it was very unorganized and extremely busy but my husband and friend finally found a table (the entire restaurant is open seating) and sat down. We had ordered cocktails at the bar. The guy said he'd bring them to us. 20 minutes goes by and still no drinks. I went up to the bar and stood there until they were made... the two we got weren't very good and one of them was greatly under-poured. Meanwhile, they ordered food while I was waiting for our drinks. We got tri-tip tacos and brisket potato skins. The brisket was delicious, we really liked it! The tri-tip was decent tasting until I bit down on a freaking BONE and I'm pretty sure I swallowed a little piece of it as I felt something sharp when I swallowed. Obviously that completely turned me off from eating anymore. I told the waitress and they were taken off our bill. We are still confused how that's possible because tri-tip doesn't have bones; my husband cooks them often so we're very familiar. I came here for a late lunch on a weekday. Parking was easy at a structure around the corner with 2-hour free parking. I walked into the enormous dining area, the smokey smell of bbq wafting through the air, and was told to sit anywhere I wanted as it wasn't too busy. They do have a large patio but I decide to sit indoors. Anna is the tall drink of water, acting as waitress and bartender, who was not only super friendly but an amazing mixologist. I asked her for a refreshing mocktail and she created something tasting of raspberry and lime and I don't know what else but WOW it was fantastic. Fruity, citrusy, and refreshing. I decided to order the smoked brisket grilled chimi-cheese sandwich, which came with waffle fries. The sandwich had tender, smoky brisket with mozzarella, chimichurri, pickles, and garlic butter between grilled bread. It was sorta greasy but incredibly delicious. I can't express how much I loved this sandwich. The waffle fries were perfectly crispy on the outside - loved them. There were three individual unisex restrooms and the one I used was quite clean. A large sink with multiple faucets sits outside the restrooms. The only negative thing - that mysterious 3% service charge on the bill. read more

The food was great on our previous visit as well, but this time our choices were less greasy, which I personally enjoyed more. The Brussels sprouts were unbelievably good, especially coming from someone who normally isn't a Brussels sprouts fan. The only downside was that we were seated outside and it felt like we were somewhat forgotten, as our drinks arrived midway through the meal. Came to Broken Spirits, while in Long Beach, and this was an exceptional experience. Axel was our server and he was doing it all that day...bartender, taking orders, serving, and ensuring we had an amazing experience, which we absolutely did! I ordered the Course Menu which was wonderful and kept my palate very happy. There were four courses that included: Smoked tri-tip tostada which was one of my favorite courses. I didn't want it to end. Next, was the grilled chimi-cheese with tomato bisque. This was good but there wasn't much filling in the grilled cheese and I found the tomato bisque to be too salty. Then the main event arrived which was the smoked trinity of beef (tri-tip, brisket, and beef rib) on top of loaded mash. This was so amazing and a good portion that left me with leftovers to take home. Lastly, was the lemon tart bars which were very small but a nice way to finish the meal. This course menu also came with a paired cocktail or mocktail, and I chose the Mint Conditioned cocktail, which was very refreshing and beautifully presented. Speaking of cocktails...just wow!! Since it was Halloween time, there was a Seasonal Cocktail list. From that, I chose Sally's Song and Trick or Treat. Axel did not disappoint and these were so fun and impressive. Lastly, I want to give major props to, the MVP, Axel. As mentioned before, he was doing it all that day we came in. He didn't rush anything and our cocktails came out beautifully. He even gave us, and the tables around us, some shots, which was so kind. Parking is free for the first 2 hours at the parking structure a little less than a block away otherwise find street parking. Only reason i gave this place a 3 was because the service was great and accommodating shout out to Marilyn. We ordered pho-king delicous since my friend was feeling under the weather and it came out luke warm and sad. For $23 this was definitely not worth it. Its pho how can you mess that up? The side veggies they gave were dried up and spoiled i dont want to justify anything but maybe we came late and kitchen was closing up shop? Either way it wasnt good. Definitely one of our choices here at the Promenade, Long Beach. The outside patio hits for night outing/dinner night, i looove the lighting and scenery. The ambient and crowd is always chill. Their happy hour on drinks side can't be beaten, BOGO. my girlfriend has tried their brisket posole which i tried and was really good! I've had all the steaks, filet, rib eye, and new york (As Pictured). Esteban gave us really great service btw! He started off by doing one thing I wish more businesses did, answer the phone, and be welcoming. We had minor questions that got answered and there we went! He was very attentive for being the only server during the timing we went at. My girlfriend's Espresso Martini looked nice and was good! I'm a beer guy but took a sip. The neighborhood is so fun and inviting and the distillery is right in the heart of a fantastic social area. It was the week before Halloween when we visited and we loved all of the cool Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. So fun! The atmosphere was great here. I love the aesthetics, decor, and vibe. The flavor of the food was also great. Although we were a bit disappointed to pay $15 for tacos that were so small. I guess weren't expecting tiny street tacos. The tri tip was great though, according to my husband. I had the tri tip melt and it was fabulous. I loved the homemade potato chips and the pickles served with it too. I would love to go back and give it another try though. I didn't get a chance to try the ube cheesecake and from the other reviews it looks great. So, I'll probably back to give this another chance to earn 5 stars from me. read more

Food was good and drinks were fine, but service was absolute garbage. It was not crowded- 3 or 4 people at the bar, an and a couple other occupied tables. We were a group of 5. After being sat, we waited over 10 min before someone came to take an order. Then another 10 min before the drinks arrived. Went order drinks at the bar a couple times because no one was coming by the table- once the bartender told our server, once she forgot entirely. One of our group ordered white wine- she was informed that the bar was completely out of all types of white wine and rose. The Pinot Grigio was still on the bill at the end of the night however and I had to point it out before they took it off. As the pattern of neglect continued we decided to leave. But if there's a few of you, go ahead and try everything. This time I went with their version of the espresso martini. It was quite nice. It's one of those drinks that goes down pretty easy. Sometimes it can be too sweet which personally I don't like. But it's also one of those drinks that creeps up on you and boom, you're out for the night....lol... Service was good. Majority of the people already inside were sitting at the bar area. We ended up getting a table as there ended up being three of us. Also tried one of their many mezcal drinks. Another drink that's good and will creep up on you. It's also one that you either love mezcal or you don't. But theirs was quite nice. Throughout our visit, they even brought over a couple of shots for us. Sweet but good. They also have a full menu of food but haven't really tried them out. My wife and I loved this place! Easy to get to with 2 hour free parking garage just steps away. It's in the beautiful Promenade area with amazing murals, historic architecture, and 4 blocks of pedestrian walkways. I made a reservation but it wasn't very busy on Saturday for lunch so it's not necessary. Beautiful interior with plenty of seating at tables, booths, or the inviting bar. It's a restaurant and distillery. I was really surprised by the prices. The place felt upscale in a trendy area with gourmet quality food yet was surprisingly affordable! It's a distillery so we had to try cocktails of course. I had a maple infused old fashioned that was poured table side out of a syrup bottle. Gimmicky sure but it wasn't expected so it brought a smile to my face. My wife had some odd cucumber and bubblegum infused cocktail that sounded gross on paper yet worked great in reality! I was buzzing pretty hard after one drink so I stopped there but my wife got a smores espresso martini for her second drink that was seriously decadent. For entree my wife got the burnt ends sliders with fries that were only $9! Was a big portion and mouth watering delicious. I went with some special they had for a weekly dining thing in LB. It let me try a variety of things and was only $30 something. Started with a simple looking tri tip tostada that ended up being a flavor explosion and my favorite course. Next was a burnt ends sliders slider. Then a trio of beef rib, brisket, and tri-tip that came with the best mashed potatoes I have ever consumed. Meat wise the tri-tip was my favorite and the rib my least favorite. All were great though, I just wouldn't order the rib on my next visit. Lastly I got some brownie bite dessert that was surprisingly delicious. We shared some street corn too but we were busting at the seams so it wasn't needed. Service was outstanding the entire time and I enjoyed the place so much I bought a shirt. When leaving the bartender thanked us for visiting with a gratis shot of some fruity sour carbonated concoction that was a great ending to our visit. read more

The new tri tip tacos? Incredible. The Asian fusion bowl that is like an elevated Teriyaki bowl of sorts? Lovely. The Philly cheesesteak take y'all do is not the same, but I can respect your spin on it. The chimichurri sandwich is going to be my SO's go-to now. The Thai chili wings are comforting in a sweet, sticky (almost caramelized) sauce, with a light heat, the brisket potato skins are delicious. Customer service is still on top of things. If you knew how rare finding non pork ribs was your toes would curl from this experience alone. The ribs were packed with flavor and the sauce had a nice tang to it. The meat was falling off the bone. The brussel sprouts were topped with beef bacon and Parmesan... they were alright---- those potatoe skins were something else. Didn't say anything just in case they were busy. But that was not the problem. They were just busy talking to each other and taking people order at the bar. The restaurant was not busy at all, compared to the neighbor restaurant buen provechio, which is where we should have went. This was a complete waste of time. The serve and bartender apologized. On such a busy day in Long Beach why have him do it all? Yes he was kind, patient, fast, smiling . I want to thank him for his excellent service & positiveness. I got to try their food scene deal which was a four course meal that is a meat lovers dream. The server we had was absolutely amazing, I wish I remembered his name because he deserves a raise! We ordered the sampler platter as an appetizer which came with Thai chili wings, brisket quesadillas, tri-tip potato skins, and onion rings. The potato skins were my favorite! I also ordered a whiskey sour which was really good!! For our four courses we started off with: 1. Smoked and grilled tri-tip: it was a tostada with salsa macha and a delicious yuzu sour cream. It was delightful-I could have eaten 3 more, so good! 10/10 2. Smoked Omaha Brisket: it came in a slider and the meat was so tender. The hatch chili was a perfect combo! 10/10 3. I can always appreciate a solid happy hour paired with a good yap session. My homegirl and I stopped by to decompress after the workweek, and this spot absolutely delivered. Had to send some steak back was a bit too blue for comfort.
