My partner and I came with our kids on Saturday, 9/5. I come here often, started bringing my partner here a few times when we met, and it was our kiddos first time on Saturday. This genuinely hurts my heart to say this, but it seems like production has gone downhill, and fast. They were out of almost half of their menu items (which could be an ordering issue) and the food was disappointing..... Our server was very apologetic, we knew it wasn't her fault and she was new so I felt bad for her :/ The beef ribs were burnt, overdone and the film was left on them so they all stuck together, the mac and cheese was literally "mac and SOME burnt cheese", the potato skins were burnt, the loaded potatoes didn't come loaded at first, it was an overall disappointing and sad experience. I seriously hope the day we went was just a fluke. We ate most of our food because it was still okay, just not as good as we know it to be. Im not giving 3 stars because I know this place can be amazing but I absolutely cannot give 5 stars.
I'm a longtime pho lover with a lot of points of reference, and the smoked brisket pho here is genuinely one of my favorites in Long Beach. The brisket is tender, the broth is rich and well-crafted, and the service and vibe are consistently great. My only ongoing issue is the noodles -- they're always overcooked. It really affects the overall experience, especially when everything else in the bowl is so well executed. There have been times I've chosen to go to 123 Pho instead because I know the noodles will be right. If they ever dial in the noodle cook, this would easily be one of the best bowls in the area. I still enjoy the spot and hope they tighten up that one detail.
I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Broken Spirits Distillery. My husband and I went for dinner on a weekday during LB Food Scene Week earlier this month. We ordered the BBQ platter, which came with a choice of two proteins and two sides for $35, which seemed to be a good deal. However, that's where the positives end. To start, the restaurant was severely understaffed. There was one waitress for the entire restaurant, and she was also tending the bar and cleaning. She was apologetic, but it wasn't her fault - she was working as hard as she could. It took 45 minutes from the time we sat down to the time our food came out. By that time, the food was lukewarm at best. The mac n cheese was flavorful, but the top layer of cheese had unfortunately congealed from sitting too long before it made it to our table, so it wasn't particularly pleasant to eat (you can see this in the video I included). The ribs also had fat globules that had solidified and were quite difficult to eat. Lastly, the cocktails were sickeningly sweet, although the cocktail options were interesting. I'm wondering if maybe we just went on an off-day for the restaurant, given that many people appear to have had positive experiences here. Hopefully they hire more staff to manage the place - it's too much for one person. If you opt to try this restaurant and you're heading west on E 3rd St, there is a parking structure (City Place Lot C) right past the restaurant with free parking for the first two hours. However, based on my lackluster experience here, I wouldn't recommend this place.
Not "Broken Spirits" but Broken Promises. saw on Instagram that happy hour was advertised as being offered every day from 12-5 PM, so we came in on Sunday around 2 o clock, expecting it. However, once we got there, we were told it's actually only Monday through Friday. When we brought up what we had seen advertised, the response felt a little dismissive rather than acknowledging the confusion. It was disappointing to come specifically for the advertised "every day" happy hour and then find out it wasn't being honored....anyways went across the street to Buen Provecho
I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review, but i stopped by here the other day. Made reservations online and showed up ate outdoors because the weather was great brought 2 dogs the team there was very welcoming of my dogs love that. I ordered the broker Mac and cheese i loved it maybe next time I'll order light bbq next though I've ordered almost everything at this menu i love going here. The brisket is delicious i love their Mac and cheese and salads. Their drinks are really good as well some nights they have a DJ but they overall i really enjoy the food and drinks definitely a must try and they also give dog patty with meal purchase.
I had this place bookmarked for a while on Yelp. Finally, I decided to make a visit since my friend and I were heading to a holistic expo in the area. It was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted as stepping into the establishment. I love the decorations inside. Very vibrant colors with interesting themes. As we got seated, our waitress came and got our orders. She kindly gave us some recommendations so we ordered the tri tips with salad and Mac and cheese. I was so thrilled to try it out because I read a lot of good reviews and my friends always go there for happy hour. My friend and I ordered some cocktails and they were super strong with refreshing vibes. Our meal did disappoint me because the tri tip was super dry. The mac n cheese was cold while the salad didn't taste fresh. I was so bummed, it didn't meet my expectations. I was looking forward to some good BBQ food. Maybe I just came on the wrong day, but the drinks were at least good.
I came back since the owner reached out to me to give them a second chance. I can't resist humble owners. So I went. Ordered baked Brie, brisket tacos, street corn and spirited away and passing me by for drinks. The food was good. The street corn is my fave. Service so much better. Love to see service improving. Will probably come back to try other food they have here.
Heard about this place on Facebook. They were having a FREE tasting and mini tour so we got tickets to it. We got to taste their gin, rum, vodka and whisky and they had 1 tiny food sample at the end. It was brisket and delicious. I was ready to leave since it was very unorganized and extremely busy but my husband and friend finally found a table (the entire restaurant is open seating) and sat down. We had ordered cocktails at the bar. The guy said he'd bring them to us. 20 minutes goes by and still no drinks. I went up to the bar and stood there until they were made... the two we got weren't very good and one of them was greatly under-poured. Meanwhile, they ordered food while I was waiting for our drinks. We got tri-tip tacos and brisket potato skins. The brisket was delicious, we really liked it! The tri-tip was decent tasting until I bit down on a freaking BONE and I'm pretty sure I swallowed a little piece of it as I felt something sharp when I swallowed. Obviously that completely turned me off from eating anymore. I told the waitress and they were taken off our bill. We are still confused how that's possible because tri-tip doesn't have bones; my husband cooks them often so we're very familiar. They should have OVER staffed knowing they had an event going that day. We won't be back.
Stopped by Broken Spirits and had a great experience! Our server, Cat, was fantastic and gave us excellent recommendations (No fluff). We ordered the brisket quesadilla, chicken sandwich, and smoked brisket tacos--everything was delicious and came out quickly. The brisket was especially savory and flavorful. I came here for a late lunch on a weekday. Parking was easy at a structure around the corner with 2-hour free parking. I walked into the enormous dining area, the smokey smell of bbq wafting through the air, and was told to sit anywhere I wanted as it wasn't too busy. They do have a large patio but I decide to sit indoors. Anna is the tall drink of water, acting as waitress and bartender, who was not only super friendly but an amazing mixologist. I asked her for a refreshing mocktail and she created something tasting of raspberry and lime and I don't know what else but WOW it was fantastic. Fruity, citrusy, and refreshing. I decided to order the smoked brisket grilled chimi-cheese sandwich, which came with waffle fries. The sandwich had tender, smoky brisket with mozzarella, chimichurri, pickles, and garlic butter between grilled bread. It was sorta greasy but incredibly delicious. I can't express how much I loved this sandwich. The waffle fries were perfectly crispy on the outside - loved them. There were three individual unisex restrooms and the one I used was quite clean. A large sink with multiple faucets sits outside the restrooms. The only negative thing - that mysterious 3% service charge on the bill.
Great atmosphere, music was on point! The bartender was great very personable. The food was amazing! Drinks were spot on. They sell their own label. All our drinks were on their label the taste was perfect smooth ride down. We will definitely be back.
Came back again, this time for the burger and ribs -- both were excellent. The food was great on our previous visit as well, but this time our choices were less greasy, which I personally enjoyed more. The Brussels sprouts were unbelievably good, especially coming from someone who normally isn't a Brussels sprouts fan. The only downside was that we were seated outside and it felt like we were somewhat forgotten, as our drinks arrived midway through the meal. That said, our server had great energy and personality, which softened the issue. If the drinks had come on time, the experience would've been even better.
Came to Broken Spirits, while in Long Beach, and this was an exceptional experience. Axel was our server and he was doing it all that day...bartender, taking orders, serving, and ensuring we had an amazing experience, which we absolutely did! I ordered the Course Menu which was wonderful and kept my palate very happy. There were four courses that included: Smoked tri-tip tostada which was one of my favorite courses. I didn't want it to end. Next, was the grilled chimi-cheese with tomato bisque. This was good but there wasn't much filling in the grilled cheese and I found the tomato bisque to be too salty. Then the main event arrived which was the smoked trinity of beef (tri-tip, brisket, and beef rib) on top of loaded mash. This was so amazing and a good portion that left me with leftovers to take home. Lastly, was the lemon tart bars which were very small but a nice way to finish the meal. This course menu also came with a paired cocktail or mocktail, and I chose the Mint Conditioned cocktail, which was very refreshing and beautifully presented. Speaking of cocktails...just wow!! Since it was Halloween time, there was a Seasonal Cocktail list. From that, I chose Sally's Song and Trick or Treat. Axel did not disappoint and these were so fun and impressive. Lastly, I want to give major props to, the MVP, Axel. As mentioned before, he was doing it all that day we came in. He didn't rush anything and our cocktails came out beautifully. He even gave us, and the tables around us, some shots, which was so kind. He really wanted us to enjoy our time and his easy going and friendly personality just added to this amazing experience 20/10. PROMOTE THIS MAN!!!

Parking is free for the first 2 hours at the parking structure a little less than a block away otherwise find street parking. Only reason i gave this place a 3 was because the service was great and accommodating shout out to Marilyn. We ordered pho-king delicous since my friend was feeling under the weather and it came out luke warm and sad. For $23 this was definitely not worth it. Its pho how can you mess that up? The side veggies they gave were dried up and spoiled i dont want to justify anything but maybe we came late and kitchen was closing up shop? Either way it wasnt good. If you come here for food dont order the pho stick to something common like their wings and do not come late for food. read more

I'm going to chalk this food experience up to a bad day .We drove an hour to eat here and this is how our pho came out there's no juice . it looks like it was sitting in the back for 20 years.. noodles soaked up all the juice and were soggy af. Normally this place smacks. This is the first time this place has failed the food department. Rack of lamb was good Brisket Potato skins were soggy , Mac n cheese was dry plain noodles with hard cheese on top Onion rings were good Brussel sprouts were def made with anger But our server was amazing ! Definitely one of our choices here at the Promenade, Long Beach. The outside patio hits for night outing/dinner night, i looove the lighting and scenery. The ambient and crowd is always chill. Their happy hour on drinks side can't be beaten, BOGO. my girlfriend has tried their brisket posole which i tried and was really good! I've had all the steaks, filet, rib eye, and new york (As Pictured). Esteban gave us really great service btw! He started off by doing one thing I wish more businesses did, answer the phone, and be welcoming. We had minor questions that got answered and there we went! He was very attentive for being the only server during the timing we went at. My girlfriend's Espresso Martini looked nice and was good! I'm a beer guy but took a sip. Oh, and the restroom setup is really cool also. Got about 3-4 individual restrooms. For the most part clean, just the public forgetting to flush. Mirrors in handy also! Check em out! read more

Another visit and wonderful experience with Axel again running the ENTIRE show. We had the Peppercorn Burger with Mac and Cheese, The Oscar with Yuca Fries, Saca La Bolsita Mexican Lager, Doin' Time & Dirty Little Secret Cocktails. Everything was tasty and Axel was very friendly and thorough while dining. read more

First time here. After seeing all review and knowing I would be in the area, I bookmarked it. The neighborhood is so fun and inviting and the distillery is right in the heart of a fantastic social area. It was the week before Halloween when we visited and we loved all of the cool Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. So fun! The atmosphere was great here. I love the aesthetics, decor, and vibe. The flavor of the food was also great. Although we were a bit disappointed to pay $15 for tacos that were so small. I guess weren't expecting tiny street tacos. The tri tip was great though, according to my husband. I had the tri tip melt and it was fabulous. I loved the homemade potato chips and the pickles served with it too. I would love to go back and give it another try though. I didn't get a chance to try the ube cheesecake and from the other reviews it looks great. So, I'll probably back to give this another chance to earn 5 stars from me. read more

Saturday afternoon stop in. We did the indoor seating adjacent to the bar. They were in the seasonal spirit of Halloween which was very cute! Our server was helpful in picking out food and attentive. We had garlic parm wings, a sandwich and mac n cheese. Good bar food with a beer on the side. Wrapped it up with a Ube cheesecake. Yum! You could saddle up to the bar with your favorite four legged friend and catch a college football game if you time it right. read more

They know how to pull you in. 2 for 1 drinks always catches people attention. Stopped by which we also ran into someone we knew. Their 2 for 1 deal is quite good. It has to be the same drinks though. But if there's a few of you, go ahead and try everything. This time I went with their version of the espresso martini. It was quite nice. It's one of those drinks that goes down pretty easy. Sometimes it can be too sweet which personally I don't like. But it's also one of those drinks that creeps up on you and boom, you're out for the night....lol... Service was good. Majority of the people already inside were sitting at the bar area. We ended up getting a table as there ended up being three of us. Also tried one of their many mezcal drinks. Another drink that's good and will creep up on you. It's also one that you either love mezcal or you don't. But theirs was quite nice. Throughout our visit, they even brought over a couple of shots for us. Sweet but good. They also have a full menu of food but haven't really tried them out. It's always a pop in for a drink here and there. Location wise it's great. Right in the heart of downtown near the promenade. Plenty of parking at the structure next door. Service was good, friendly staff and a pretty cool spot. Also started decorating for Halloween already. Nice outdoor patio as well. read more

Had a really good time at Broken Spirits Distillery, my favorite bartenders name is Joel. He made me his famous drink it was so good I had to keep on getting more. He also helped me with the menu it was my first time at here and I got the brisket it was amazing so tender. This is the best spot in Long Beach if you want some really good drinks, fire food, and to watch any game! Ask for Joel he knows what's good!!! read more

This has been a new favorite! They have a great food menu (lots of bbq), excellent service (Aliyah is awesome), and fantastic drinks. The bread pudding is delicious. Their drinks are not overly sweet and definitely strong. As a bonus, they're usually playing some good music! read more

My wife and I loved this place! Easy to get to with 2 hour free parking garage just steps away. It's in the beautiful Promenade area with amazing murals, historic architecture, and 4 blocks of pedestrian walkways. I made a reservation but it wasn't very busy on Saturday for lunch so it's not necessary. Beautiful interior with plenty of seating at tables, booths, or the inviting bar. It's a restaurant and distillery. I was really surprised by the prices. The place felt upscale in a trendy area with gourmet quality food yet was surprisingly affordable! It's a distillery so we had to try cocktails of course. I had a maple infused old fashioned that was poured table side out of a syrup bottle. Gimmicky sure but it wasn't expected so it brought a smile to my face. My wife had some odd cucumber and bubblegum infused cocktail that sounded gross on paper yet worked great in reality! I was buzzing pretty hard after one drink so I stopped there but my wife got a smores espresso martini for her second drink that was seriously decadent. For entree my wife got the burnt ends sliders with fries that were only $9! Was a big portion and mouth watering delicious. I went with some special they had for a weekly dining thing in LB. It let me try a variety of things and was only $30 something. Started with a simple looking tri tip tostada that ended up being a flavor explosion and my favorite course. Next was a burnt ends sliders slider. Then a trio of beef rib, brisket, and tri-tip that came with the best mashed potatoes I have ever consumed. Meat wise the tri-tip was my favorite and the rib my least favorite. All were great though, I just wouldn't order the rib on my next visit. Lastly I got some brownie bite dessert that was surprisingly delicious. We shared some street corn too but we were busting at the seams so it wasn't needed. Service was outstanding the entire time and I enjoyed the place so much I bought a shirt. When leaving the bartender thanked us for visiting with a gratis shot of some fruity sour carbonated concoction that was a great ending to our visit. read more

Broken Spirits you've been due for a review update on my behalf. I LOVE your new menu. Almost everything I've been slowly eating involving tri tip and brisket has been an absolute knockout. The new tri tip tacos? Incredible. The Asian fusion bowl that is like an elevated Teriyaki bowl of sorts? Lovely. The Philly cheesesteak take y'all do is not the same, but I can respect your spin on it. The chimichurri sandwich is going to be my SO's go-to now. The Thai chili wings are comforting in a sweet, sticky (almost caramelized) sauce, with a light heat, the brisket potato skins are delicious. Customer service is still on top of things. We just celebrated a dual birthday and were treated to the giant booth with mirrors. Thank you for making things extra special. I'll forever be returning. read more

Whew if only there were more than 5 stars to rate this entire experience. I ordered the beef bbq ribs, with brussel sprouts, and the potatoes skins topped with brisket. If you knew how rare finding non pork ribs was your toes would curl from this experience alone. The ribs were packed with flavor and the sauce had a nice tang to it. The meat was falling off the bone. The brussel sprouts were topped with beef bacon and Parmesan... they were alright---- those potatoe skins were something else. I couldn't predict the flavors that exploded on my tongue. Service was good as well. This is officially in my list of go to spots when traveling to California. I would definitely recommend. read more

My first time visiting Long Beach and found Broken Spirits with some friends. The Ambiance is quirky and comfortable- I love the neon accents. Dropped into this restaurant for Long Beach Food Scene Week and was not disappointed! Everything I ate was absolutely delicious! I got to try their food scene deal which was a four course meal that is a meat lovers dream. The server we had was absolutely amazing, I wish I remembered his name because he deserves a raise! We ordered the sampler platter as an appetizer which came with Thai chili wings, brisket quesadillas, tri-tip potato skins, and onion rings. The potato skins were my favorite! I also ordered a whiskey sour which was really good!! For our four courses we started off with: 1. Smoked and grilled tri-tip: it was a tostada with salsa macha and a delicious yuzu sour cream. It was delightful-I could have eaten 3 more, so good! 10/10 2. Smoked Omaha Brisket: it came in a slider and the meat was so tender. The hatch chili was a perfect combo! 10/10 3. Trinity of Smoked Beef: This was the main course. The beef rib was fall off the bone good and the sauce was perfect! It was definitely the star of the show. The smoked brisket and tri-tip were really good as well. The cheesy mashed potatoes went perfectly with the bbq. 10/10 4. I can always appreciate a solid happy hour paired with a good yap session. My homegirl and I stopped by to decompress after the workweek, and this spot absolutely delivered. We ordered a little bit of everything--waffle fries, jalapeño poppers, mac & cheese, smoked brisket tacos, and the peppercorn burger--and honestly, not a miss in sight. Everything was delicious, and the menu overall looks extremely promising. We had a couple of drinks too (don't ask me the names because... vibes), but I do remember it's buy one, get one free until about 6 --which is reason enough to pull up. The service? Elite. We had the pleasure of being helped by Tommy, who was an absolute ball of joy. His energy was top-tier, he knew the menu inside and out, and while my homegirl and I were debating our next cocktail, he overheard and surprised me with a drink that was exactly what I wanted. Truly a 10/10 experience. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a bite (and a cocktail or two). You won't be disappointed. read more

Come here for the drinks, not the food or service. Saturday evening, wasn't too busy, but we waited for our server to come by to give us the check and didn't come by after 30 min so we got up and asked for it ourselves. Which is ok, I understand that it's busy but 30 min and not checking in to see if we need any thing is a little wild. Paid $12 for the tiniest tacos with barely anything on it. Couldn't taste anything except cheese unless I have COVID and lost my taste. The street corn really is toasted corn with crispy onions but does not deserve the name street corn or Esquites because there's no toppings that resemble Esquites at all. It's my fault for coming in and assuming that I'll get any good Mexican food in Long Beach. Husband got the burger and said it was great and we appreciate the location of the restaurant and that it's next to a 2 hour free parking structure. Good place for a quick cocktail hour and snack for a small party, not dinner. read more

Yes. I imagine that dogs that are manageable could be okay. But if problematic the owners have all their customers to consider.

This menu is separate and the food is prepared separately from their regular menu. You just have to ask your waiter.

yes, they have outdoor seating for guests with dogs. they also offer doggie patties for free and a bowl for water!
Can this place seat up to 16 guests?
We were there last week, group of 8. The table:area we were sitting at would fit another 8 people easily and comfortably. Great place for groups. Food , ambiance and service amazing!
