Yes - we loved this place. The vibe on a Friday at about 5.30pm was warm and welcoming, there was a TV showing silently a baseball game, but everywhere there was a buzz of friends jibber jabbering and having fun in groups inside and outside m, at tables and at the bar. A few Irish accents completed the mood. Our server (who was very busy) was another highlight of fun and great service. NOTE the service is crazy quick. So if you want to order drinks and appetizer as we did - don't order your mains at the same time!! Wait until you have enjoyed your appetizers and then order your mains!! The food (especially the fried chicken appetizers with whisky aioli) was good. The cod and chips was acceptable but (having just returned from the UK) we would pick something else next time. Also parking is tough to find - BUT allow me to suggest about 0.2 miles down the street there is a large multi level shopping complex with stores like Fat Burger and Total Wine and many more - LOTS of parking - and it is free!!! read more

Oh, what a "hidden spot" we found while waiting for passports today. We decided to grab a bite, and I honestly think this is the coolest bar I have been to in all of Los Angeles. Between the service, ambiance, and food, you really have to see it for yourself. My dad had the lamb stew, which tasted just like how we make it at home. If you're looking for a proper Irish pub, this place is a gem. Carl (Dublin), the bartender, is an absolute character--hilarious and makes the whole experience. Happy hour runs Monday-Friday from 3-7, the menu is excellent, and the food is top quality. This place was very charming. I went for Happy Hour and it wasn't too busy. But I did go at a time where you can't park on the street until 7 so I randomly parked in the lot next door. Don't get towed, so check where you can park. I got recommended The Cure and it was very enjoyable. It was decently strong. For food, I got the onion rings and they were so good. I ate it all! The shepherd's pie was comforting, and it was the Happy Hour size so it was perfect! The mash potatoes were creamy and flavorful, and the beef was well seasoned as well. A quick pop in for pint of cider while waiting for someone to finish an appointment. Lunch time was very quiet. Not much people inside, maybe it was still early. I just wanted a little drink while waiting which was nice. Bartender was sweet and friendly. They have a big selection of drinks which is good. This was our first time here, and we came for their 1/2 sandwich + side lunch special. I got the tomato soup and Caesar salad--the soup was amazing, while the salad was pretty standard. We also tried the Culver Club and The Bird sandwiches. Both were tasty, and the meal overall was filling for two. I went to Auld Fella last night for DINE LA. The first thing that came out was a Caesar salad. I felt it was so so, the lettuce wasn't super crisp and the dressing was OK but not my favorite for a Ceasar . Now for the good part. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb stew. It tasted like it had a lot of pepper in it, but that was fine and I thought the spices overall worked great. That would be my dish of choice when I come back to this restaurant. The waitress was hospitable and friendly. The other thing that came to my attention was the fish and chips that somebody else was getting another table looked awesome . read more

Amazing place! Fantastic crowd! But why do they have portraits on their walls of Bono and group members when Bono doesn't stand for anti-colonialism? That's just gross and weird and anti-Irish independence. I would like to see a bar in Los Angeles that stands strong for Irish independence. I did have to take most of it to go (through Burbank airport TSA) and it was pretty good both as a hot meal and as leftovers. Service was friendly. Ambiance reminiscent of an old Irish pub. Wow this is food like my Muddy made every Sunday! Great steak fritas, fantastic fries, delicious brussel sprouts in a sauce that was beyond this world and my Mammy's cooking. Came in around noon on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, some sports playing on the big tv on the wall. While I was there a couple came in asking if they could get a certain game on and they went through some hoops to get it working, so props to the guy at the bar for that. I'd had a craving for fish and chips for awhile, so I went for that. The fish itself was cooked nicely, but the batter was a little too well done and crunchy rather than crispy. The fries were decent, maybe a bit under seasoned. The tartar sauce was nice though, and definitely helped it out a lot. Never had mushy peas before, but here they were in fact just mushed up peas. Might be nice with some salt. Nice vibes, bartender was very friendly and accommodating. Looking for a chill spot to grab a drink with a friend and nibble on some snacks. Auld Fella has a location in Culver City as well so you have options. Bottles of wine were decently priced. Obviously upcharged vs what you'd pay at the store but it is what it is. We got the Fish and Chips and the Shepherd's Pie. Half portion of both, which mean the fish and chips had one piece of fish and the pie was in a ramakin. For the both of us, it was a lighter portion of food but we didn't want full portions and the server said you couldn't order just one half portion dish. Both were OK: Fish and chips were better but you can't really go wrong with fried foods. The pie was lacking some flavor and it felt like it could've been spruced up vs just minced meat and potatoes on top. Service was good though and it is a local spot for those who live in the area. It is a pretty large space so it can get crowded and loud. Overall, enjoyed the service but the food was just OK. read more

I literally just walked out of here and I felt compelled to write a review because it was SO GOOD. I haven't been this excited about a place in a long time. We came in at 9:30 on a Sunday night and it was quiet but still had parties throughout. They didn't seem annoyed to see us so late and happily gave us food and drink menus. I believe the kitchen for dinner food (not bar food) closes around 10. Oven Roasted Garlic Bloom: This is a side but we ordered it as an app. It came with 2 entire heads of roasted garlic and so much grilled ciabatta bread as well as butter, balsamic and olive oil. If you love roasted garlic, this is so die for. The Burger: So good, thick and juicy. The patty was well seasoned and nothing was too salty. Very balanced. I ordered a side of fries and they were great as well. Not too salty either. Lamb Stew: HOLY CRAP. Star of the night. We couldn't stop raving about this to each other and every wait staff that came over to us. It was perfection. Not too gamey, not too salty, perfectly seasoned. It came with the same bread as the garlic bloom. I will be thinking about this stew for a long time. Random side note: they have Coleman's mustard and it's amazing. Plus they give you malt vinegar for your fries! They have HP sauce if you're into that too. But most importantly, the staff here is the best. Every single person from the manager, bartender, our waitress and even the food runners were all SO nice. Genuinely kind, conversational and you could tell they enjoyed working there. I can't believe it's taken me years to find this place, especially when I live so close. But we will definitely be regulars going forward and I am so excited to try more of their menu!! Great food and fun Trivia Tuesday! Auld Fella is a great spot in West LA. This Irish bar serves some delicious drinks (including mocktails) & food. I like getting the cauliflower appetizer here--it's the best I've had quite honestly. Plus, the Trivia Tuesday here is very fun. It's pretty laid-back and the questions are relatively doable as opposed to some truly random facts & impossible questions I've seen elsewhere. The people who come too are fairly chill--sure people want to win but it's a fun atmosphere all-around. Basically, the food/drink hang with friends comes first, and the trivia comes second. The staff have always been so kind every visit too. The bar has easy street parking and is right next to some bus stops on Wilshire as well. Overall, definitely check out Auld Fella! read more

Came here for the $25 DineLA dinner (thru 8/8) with friends - our first time here. We sat outside bc it was noisy inside and even closed the door to the patio. We had the buffalo cauliflower (spicy), Caesar salad with house made dressing (unimpressed, barely tasted dressing), both entrees of the shepherd's pie and lamb stew were delicious! We didn't order the $5 extra dessert, but had beer. A little noisy from cars whizzing by on the street too. Murals of writers James Joyce and Samuel Beckett decorated each side of the patio. The Irish meaning of "Cead Mile Failste," "a hundred thousand welcomes" above the doorway greeted customers who walked thru the door. Our bartender and server, Caitlin, was friendly and helpful. Her shift ended and another bartender/server took over was equally attentive. By the time we left before 7pm, the place had substantially quieted down. There's another Auld Fella in Culver City, but it wasn't listed in DineLA. This is a bar. Don't think we'll be back bc there are so many other restaurants to experience, but it was nice to give this quaint Irish pub a try. This place is a nice little spot on Wilshire. They have great cocktails and quite a list of them as well. Lots of whiskey. Lots of G&T's. Good wine selection. At night, it's dimly lit and has a great vibe. We got the burger, the curry, the cheeseboard as well as Brussels sprouts and buffalo cauliflower. The bartender said it was the best burger in town. I think that's a bit subjective, but it was a good burger. The amount of meat and bread were perfect. It's a bit different from a classic burger, they use arugula instead of lettuce. The bread was a bit dry. I would add some condiments. Later in the night, a jazz quartet showed up. That was a nice addition. They have trivia on Tuesday nights as well, and a few large TV's for sports games. Parking is pretty tough. You have to find parking in the neighborhood behind, or on Wilshire. Overall- I would say, for an Irish pub with some elevated pub fare, this place is great. read more

Also I paid $14 for a tiny side of broccoli and $10 for a small side of potatoes = $24 total for these items alone ! Outrageous over-priced and the quality is not that great--definitely NOT worth it for food. Service wasn't great either with zero explanation of food or items, pricing, ect. I literally feel robbed and disappointed as I really wanted to like this place and a charming pub. Furthermore, I had a simple burger opted for side salad instead of fries and it was $27! It was not a fancy burger not that great and it was WAY overpriced. I literally spent $81.02 (before tip) and left hungry and cheated. I think if these items were communicated better than I would have not ordered any of them and maybe would have just had a beer which was actually the best part of the meal in terms of value. So don't go to eat (unless you are wealthy) or perhaps go at happy hour, 3-6pm, or just drink as it seems a better deal. read more

The seafood chowder was equally as delicious. Large chunks of salmon, whitefish, and shrimp. I only had a small cup of the chowder, but was full of flavor. My friend had the burger and French fries and could not stop raving about how fresh the meat taste. Fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The ambiance is dark and cozy. Perfect for smaller more intimate dinner. It was a bit noisy and table were situated close together, but was very cozy. The service was great! Polite and efficient.
