Pear martini with egg white
Joshua M.

One of the coolest damn bars I've ever been in. I'm not a big drinker, but if I lived near this bar, I'd probably drink every day. I can't wait to come back when they have live music, which apparently is Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. The bartender was amazing, and he made me a pear martini with some egg white. It was delicious.

The best Shirley Temple

I came here late Saturday night, just to hangout with my classmates from my reunion. It was dark and loungy feeling, I liked it a lot. I had enough to drink earlier so I wanted to slow it down with a Shirley temple and hot damn! That was the best Shirley temple I have ever had. I think they make the cherry syrup from scratch. I think if a non alcoholic drink tasted sooooo good, I'm sure the other drinks and food should be tasty as well.

I went to The Wellesbourne last night and I'm still thinking about it... such a vibe From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was everything. It's the perfect mix of a classy cocktail bar and a fun, lively spot with great music. Ava, who was both our host and server, was absolutely amazing. She made us feel so welcome right away and checked on us throughout the night without ever being overbearing. You can tell she really cares about creating a great experience. The drinks were on point, beautifully made and delicious, and the whole energy of the place just made you want to stay all night. If you're looking for a place with great cocktails, good music, and top tier service, this is it. I'll definitely be back

Went here for a guy's night out around Christmas time on Sunday night. We were seated pretty quickly. Dim lighting, fun vibes. Got a $33 drink that wasn't bad but definitely overpriced. Also got some fries and pretzel to share that were pretty good but nothing to write home about. It's a fun spot to hang out and would recommend checking it out

The drinks were decent and the ambiance was honestly amazing. Cozy fireplace, books, lighting, colors--it's one of the cutest bar setups I've seen. The downside is the service. It took forever to get seated despite open space, and even longer to get served. Donuts came out raw, the ice cream came out melted because it had been microwaved, and to top it off we were double charged when checking out. There was chaos in the kitchen that night. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since friends have had better experiences here. Service: Slow, disorganized, and had billing issues Food: Drinks were fine, donuts raw, straight up microwaved ice cream Ambiance: Exceptionally charming with a cozy library vibe 6/10 - Cute space with decent drinks but major service and food issues

There is barely any alcohol in these drinks? Like what am I paying $20-$30 for They don't check ID's until you order which I thought was interesting compared to other bars

As always, great customer service from Jesse and delicious drinks as well. Super chill vibes!

Love this place! Drinks are amazing and service is fantastic. Dee helped us so much on choosing drinks that are kosher friendly :) Highly recommended.

Wellesbourne is a classy, charming bar where you can find delicious drinks, posh seats, and occasional live music. There is essential three sections - one with lounge seating and a fireplace, one with tables for food, and one with more high tops or a huge couch. Drinks are about $18-20 or $15 during happy hour that ends at 7. Bartenders are nice and vibe is immaculate. Street parking is available starting at 7 so will have to walk a bit if you're trying to make happy hour!

Loved the fire place

So so happy we stopped by this spot, I haven't been here in over five years and was so happy to see that it's still there and looking better than ever. The entire place was so cozy and warm and felt great for the holidays. They had a pianist playing, and the service was nice and quick. I wish the spot was closer to us I would definitely be there more often. We didn't grab food this time, but other guests were eating and everything looked great.

A friend and I went and sat on the left side, with the fireplace which, is what we wanted and it was very nice and comfy. The middle section was freezing cold because the door was open to the outside all night - thank heaven we didn't sit there which when we thought we originally would. The entrance is covered with heavy drape but it still did nothing to ward off the chill on a 50° night. Our server took or drink order without rushing us and it was served and pretty decent time & drinks were tasty. Problems came with food order. We ordered the edamame or what we thought was edamame. We intended to eat dinner also. After 25 - 30 minutes we still did not have it. Asked about it again at 35 minutes and the server said the chef had to "plate it". That took another 15 minutes. The photo was what we got. Apparently it's an edamame Hummus and supposed to come with assorted raw vegetables. The menu is not clear on that in our minds. We also wondered why it took 45 minutes to plate raw carrots and raw celery which were the only vegetables it came with. THis was very disappointing- they offered to take 25% off, and eventually removed it from the bill. The rest of the food was good and the service was decent from the two gals working there. However, do not expect a printed bill or a printed itemized receipt - their system does not allow for it so you can't check your bill. (Keep track). I recommend for the drinks, ambience, in the fireplace & the excellent light jazz music provided by piano and guitar which was never too loud.

The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!

High bar shared seating inside but tables outside. They also have a riddle of the day posted above the bar which is fun to solve when you're a little buzzed. Everyone is nice, knowledgeable and non pretentious. The staff has encouraged me to try so many different wines I wouldn't normally do for fear of looking like a noob. I've enjoyed a wide range of wines from an orange one day, a pinot next, a buttery Chardonnay or a spicy Syrah. Every time I'm there it's a fun experiment. :) If you're a lightweight like me, I'd suggest eating a meal beforehand because the menu is pretty light. Street parking or structure in downtown culver is available. You can try the local neighborhoods for free parking, just don't park by my place! lol

The place itself is very modern and nice. Overall the vibe it basically a Houston's-type place. And service was good. All of the food overall was very good. Nothing really too crazy. To me, the menu is a little... boring. But, I will say everything was tasty. We got the Cajun shrimp salad (which was simple and clean but tasty), a cheese pizza for the kids (which was good!), a brisket French dip (very tasty and a horseradish sauce with a LOT of bite), a vodka pasta (was good but it actually is TOO big a portion to eat by one's self), the Ahi Tuna frites (the tuna was good and served with a nice green sauce), and the grilled cabbage side (with brown butter and some pomegranate molasses--it was actually my favorite thing!). The key distinctive thing about Laurel Grill seems to be that a lot of things get cooked by that fire which really adds a nice smoky touch (like the shrimp and the ahi tuna and the cabbage). My only major complaint would be the fries were just okay. After a minute or two they weren't crispy anymore. As good as everything else was, I thought they would step things up with the fries but they were just average. Anyways, while I overall am not that excited by the menu, it definitely is a great place to go where everybody will be able to find something tasty to eat. And overall, the portions were pretty fair.

The spritz was strong or my tolerance has gone way down. First course: I was pleasantly surprised by how big the Avacado toast was. It had a jam at the bottom that brought the whole dish together. Like my HH review, some micro greens would have taken my heard back. I just love microgreens! Deviled eggs and croquetts I've tried before. They were both pretty good. Croquetts can't do wrong. Mains: I got the crab Benedict and it was awesome! I filled up on my avocado toast so I took half of it home. There was plenty of crab and the poached egg was running and bright orange. That's some healthy eggs! Fresh toast looked amazing as well, same with the burger. I know the burger was also popular at happy hour for the price but I was told it was very good. I'll have to go next time just for that. Parking: Just park by the paid lot by trader Joe's or off Cardiff. Easier than trying to find parking on that street. The paid lot is $1 free and $1 additional hours. The patio was super charming with all the natural lights and shaded by the trees. The service was decent as well. Will took good care of us.

Well, Dine LA is happening and what better way than to try places you've been eyeing. I've heard good things about this place from friends that's been numerous of times and each visit was always amazing. Of course as it's part of Dine LA, it was a given to come and try this place for the first time. We had a reservation on a Friday night which was the start of Dine LA and let me say, this place was packed. Every single tables inside and out was utilized. They've made a name for themselves if it was that lively. Good on their part. It wasn't a long wait till our table was ready. We got seated on the patio side just along the street. Covered canopy with both hi top tables and standard tables. Positive side, there were loads of heat lamps as well as heated fireplaces separating pretty much all the tables. Gotta keep everyone warm during our LA winter. Inside is quite small compared to the seating outdoor with only a few tables. As Dine LA was happening, they offered a three course meal for 45.00 per person. If you weren't interested in that, their regular menu does offer loads of amazing dishes as well. We started off a bottle of their French Pinot which was quite nice. Not too strong and very smooth. Nice pair for dinner. Service was excellent and was taken good care by our waitress which I didn't get her name. She was great and very friendly. Dine LA Menu Starters -Soupe a l'oignon (French onion soup) melted Gruyère and brioche croutons -Ahi tuna tartare- avocado, balsamic reduction and spicy Cajun chips -Escargot a l'ail- 1/2 dozen escargot in garlic and parsley butter Mains -Boeuf Bourguignon- slow roasted beef stew with creamy potatoes puree in red wine sauce -Coq au Vin- braised chicken leg with glazed carrots, pearl onions and bordelaise sauce -Moules Frites (Mussels and fries)- PEI mussels in bisque sauce with garlic, Chablis, brandy Dessert -Crème brûlée- vanilla bean and turbinando sugar -Apple tarte tatin- caramelized apples with puff pastry dough and caramel sauce -Profiteroles- choux dough filled with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and roasted almonds. We each went with one of the starters. The French onion soup was perfect. The broth with the melted cheese, it was amazing. The flavors of everything paired together were perfect. Tuna tartare was great. The seasoning with the glaze and chips to paired with was great. Also fish was perfect and fresh. Lastly the escargot. If this doesn't scream French, I didn't know what does. I've had it at other restaurants and I can say this was amazing. The garlic sauce was perfect. Snails had a nice taste to it and quite tasty. Not tough at all. Everything was excellent. Mains, the boeuf Bourguignon was tasty. Nice chunks of beef with a nice thick sauce and pared with mashed potatoes. Sauce was excellent and not too strong. And the mussels, which was a hefty portion. The sauce which was like a lobster bisque was excellent. I'm use to a wine broth but the bisque was amazing. Nice meaty mussels cooked perfectly. We had to order a side of baguette for the bisque. Dessert, the profiteroles which I highly recommend. Two amazing pieces of puffed pastries filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. Mouthwatering at its best. And lastly the apple tarte, the right amount of sweetness and baked to perfection also served with ice cream. I can say that my first time here was amazing. The service, the food and everything was amazing. Not only dinner, they're also offering Dine LA for lunch. Regardless, it's going to be a priority to come back for another meal. Staff members were friendly, and our server in particular was super nice. The restaurant was extremely busy, which minimized check-ins with us, but I did generally feel taken care of. Unfortunately, I had a rather subpar experience with the food itself. At somewhat high prices, I expected a stellar croque monsieur. I generally found the dish salty, greasier than it should have been, and lacking in flavor. I also ordered the tomato basil soup, and it was extremely salty and tasted of pureed tomatoes with no seasoning. Additionally, my friend's Benedict actually came out incorrectly (crab instead of lobster). I should also mention that the menu is somewhat unclear about what is/isn't included in a meal. I recommend asking upfront before deciding, especially for combos exclusions and which side dishes are paired with entrees (note that the Benedicts come with additional sides that aren't listed).
