I forgot to post a while back. I do love bringing my out of town friends here so they can have a super close up view of the ocean especially when it splashes against the glass windows! The food can get a little expensive, but it's pretty good, old school type of menu. We do tend to order the calamari and clam chowder which we like. I do love the iconic souvenir bar glasses which a friend had recently gifted me her collection! I've never stepped foot upstairs but next time, I'll request it. Service is pretty good here too. This place has been around forever, I remember our parents give us some money while they sat here and had drinks. We came just to cool down after dropping off someone at the airport. I had an old-fashioned. It was OK, no Luxardo cherry, no single ice cube, but the same premium price. When you come here, most people know this place for their famous Mai Thai. They let you keep the cup. My wife had a Tito's and tonic, and it was very strong. Good for them, they know how to pour. The reason you come here is for the ambience, the views and that ocean breeze. So, my kid's name is Tony... They treated him like a literal celebrity the whole time we were here. Not only that, they are incredibly reasonably priced for a restaurant on the pier which is historically pricy. We were lucky enough to sit right next to the window, and it opened up to the most glorious view of Redondo Beach Pier. We came to Tony's on the Pier to celebrate an award I had received, and for a much needed date night with my husband. This place has been here for decades! We hadn't been back here for over ten years. The service was outstanding, the view of the ocean was magnificent, the food was amazing! A great place for a seafood dinner with a very reasonable price! We started with their famous Mai Tai that comes in a souvenir glass, followed by clams casino appetizers. I had the twin lobster tails with a baked potato, and my husband had the crab stuffed shrimp. Each dinner comes with soup and salad. I had the clam chowder, and my husband had the salmon chowder. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and very tasty! For dessert, we had their version of chocolate mousse, which was the only disappointment of the dinner. The mousse was more like a milk chocolate pudding. Total with tax and tip was about $248.00 (we tip 20%). Considering the amount of food and the type of meal, this was very reasonable which included cocktails and dessert. We couldn't finish the main course, so we now have leftovers for another meal. Win-win!!!! read more

My friends and I wanted to grab some drinks while visiting Redondo Beach Pier. Tony's has a bar on the upper level second floor. We wanted to sit on the lower level right next to the open windows, but was told couldn't sit there unless you order food. It wasn't busy thought maybe server let it slide. Nope! We ended going upstairs instead. Really quiet with good views of the pier and ocean. I ordered a mai tai while my friends were sipping on martinis. Bartender took care of us with his generous heavy hands. Drinks were strong, but we weren't complaining. We really enjoyed our cocktails! It was nice to sit down spending some quality time together. I love coming to Tony's. Last time we were here we specifically came on a storm surge day in December to watch the waves crash against the pilings of the pier and enjoy some sunset Mai Tais in the signature Tony's glasses. We had dinner that night and it was really delicious. This visit was just after lunch. We were looking for a drink and a nibble and Tony's staff was happy to oblige. Upon ordering MaiTais, we were informed that the signature, comp take home glasses were currently out of stock. Not a problem, we already have a collection. Hubs chose cheesy garlic bread and I was excited to try the calamari. MAN! Lightest and best calamari I have EVER had! And Hubs' bread was also YUM! Service is always great! Attentive, but respectful, understanding this special spot that begs guests to slow down and cast a memory or two back. 70s Yatch Rock plays perfectly in the background and the soul exhales. I'm gonna review top of Tons. Second time we've been here for cocktails. Best view in the south fair. Come see Rick while slinging drinks and the place is crazy around 4 o'clock on a Friday. The drinks are good the tempora shrimp is very good. It's become Nikki and I another go to your place. WOW where do I even start. Don't eat here. How about that. The Chef has most definitely given up. The service was bullSh*t. "So you're not ordering entrees?" Who says that?! We just ordered an appetizer and salad calm tf down. I wanted to leave in that moment and we should have. The fried zucchini tasted like coconut shrimp. My salad came out wrong. I got the feeling he ordered me the more expensive one thinking he could get away with it. It was disgusting for a $33 crab Louie. I requested for my original salad. When that came out, there shrimp were water logged from being previously frozen. The baby corn, olives AND beats ALL had to spit out. The server never asked how ANYTHING was. He dropped food and ran away. Ultimately I understand now why. He is serving shit food and if he isn't present at the table he doesn't have to deal with food being rotten. The chowder tasted like grainy potato soup with slimy clams. YOU COULD LITERALLY BUY BETTER CHOWDER IN A CAN. This was like sludge from a huge bucket that had been sitting in the depths of a walk-in for WEEKS. Then the combination plate. Barf. Dry ass rice disguised in butter. I cannot believe they can get away with serving this food. Not a single plate of food was eaten. The server couldn't care less that we were NOT eating our food. His busser was the one filling our drinks. And when they removed our plates NO ONE ASKED US WHY NOTHING WAS EATEN. Two things I'm grateful for, 1st that we DID NOT order the oysters and 2nd for the busser! WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. read more

This nostalgic restaurant has been around for over 40 years. The food is always made fresh and very reasonable. They have quality ingredients and the service is superb. While the service was excellent and the ambience is warm with a gorgeous view from the bar upstairs, all well worth going for, but the food is NOT at all note worthy. The food at best is mediocre. I was thoroughly disappointed. We had ceviche at a little walk up for an appetizer before going to Tony's that was to die for. Then at Tony's we get chowder with no flavor and very little fish. Although this is a well known place we will not return! We were only in the bar (so I am not speaking about the restaurant) . Their happy hour menu is largely fried foods and we thought them greasy and they tasted like the oil was old. My husband ordered a Pina Colada and it arrived and was far from good. It seemed they did not add any coco Lopez at all! He had asked for a double shot of rum and that didn't happen! We asked the bartender about the quality and he said that was how they make them. We asked for our bill and discovered they charged him $22.00 for the horrific Pina Colada's! A total ripoff. The ambiance is pretty rustic which is fine but it didn't feel clean and inviting. We had planned to have an appetizer and a drink then go downstairs for dinner but after our bar experience we went elsewhere for dinner. We should have known it is more a a tourist trap than a nice dinner. read more

Overall, we've always liked Tony's. The view is fantastic, and while the food is only adequate, the location and atmosphere have always been the main draw. Unfortunately, we're giving one star because of our experience with Tommy. The interaction was extremely uncomfortable, and his manner toward me felt dismissive, arrogant, and disrespectful. One comment that especially stood out to us was when he questioned my boyfriend in a way that suggested he should be "in control" rather than letting his woman lead. The remark felt outdated and disrespectful, and it left me feeling that I was being treated differently because I am a woman. He also had an aggressive tone and at one point suggested that we should "take this outside," which was completely inappropriate and made the situation feel intimidating. What made it worse was that after making rude or confrontational comments, he would laugh, as if our discomfort was amusing. It's unfortunate because Tony's has a beautiful view and a great setting, but service and how guests are treated matter. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this type of behavior. read more

I came here after a girl's dinner nearby at the Cantina. It was a lil busy for a Sunday night, I was able to snag a chair at the bar with 3 of my other girls. The only thing that was off-putting was the bartender, for sure. Despite the friendly Hawaiian shirt, he was very cold, unfriendly, and seemed annoyed. The service definitely killed it for me. I moved away and sat in one of the red chairs off the bar, right by the live musician who paid special attention to my friend and I. The live musician was great, friendly and welcoming, always asking if we had any requests! It's def an old-timer's bar on the pier, but it captures a beautiful view of Redondo Beach and the rest of the pier. First thing when we walked in the door, a glass bottle shattered on my girlfriend's head from 2 stories up, and none of the employees seemed to care. We pushed through. Wait staff seemed very unhappy to be here. The food is very expensive and bland. Glorified cafeteria food. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller which had a mound of spinach that way overpowered the tiny oysters underneath. They were hard to choke down. We shared the Charbroiled Seafood Combination which was listed on the menu as "our most popular dish." It was very tiny portions for $35, however the waiter was nice and brought us an extra soup since we were sharing. The shrimp needed deveined and the fish was way undercooked. Overall not very appetizing, but it's a cool place right over the water with good ambiance for maybe just drinks. We both feel nauseous after 15 minutes of eating there. read more

I have been going to Tony's on the Pier since 1980.... I took my Main Squeeze back then. Since then we married had 4 kids which we took to Tony's on a regular basis. I always Ordered the Tony's Halibut, Fried Mozzarella and Clam Chowder. She ordered the Cioppino and kids loved the escargot. I would get Mai Tai's and I have tons of glasses including the gold Anniversary ones. Last year, I went to Tony's and it was AWFUL!!! The Food was not the same. The Carpet was dirty, The Drink was close but not it, and no multiple Mai Tai glasses. I vowed not to go back. Today, I wanted to go back and read some comments from some regulars and guess what it appears I need to stay gone. Tony's should offer if you don't like the food and you stop eating it, you should be refunded or not made to pay, but tip the service worker for the performance. My wife and I been coming for years, not every weekend thing but, every other month. Great food, but the host for some reason she was not friendly, when she took us to our table she threw the menus on table and walked alway. My wife and I thought that was unprofessional. We then noticed her doing that to other guest. She is young but it's still not an excuse. Even though the sun wasn't shining, the food and ambience were outstanding. My favorite is clam chowder and sand dabs! Very rare to find a restaurant that serves delicate sand dabs.
