I cannot say enough wonderful things about JOEY Manhattan Beach. From the moment we arrived, the entire experience was exceptional--the atmosphere, the food, the service, and especially the hospitality. A huge part of what made our experience so memorable was Jen, the manager. She was absolutely incredible. She was warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a wonderful experience. It's rare to come across a manager who makes such a personal effort to make guests feel welcomed and taken care of, and Jen truly went above and beyond. She is an incredible reflection of the restaurant and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back again and again. The food was fantastic, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the service from beginning to end was outstanding. Our server, kaiyah was AMAZING!!!! We left feeling like we had experienced something much more special than just a great meal. JOEY Manhattan Beach absolutely deserves five stars, and Jen deserves special recognition for making an already wonderful restaurant experience truly unforgettable. I really wanted to love Joey Manhattan Beach, especially since I've had a much better experience at another Joey location. In fact, I was the one who recommended this spot for my father's birthday dinner. Let's just say...that recommendation did NOT age well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance? Beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food and drinks? Unfortunately, not so much. From the appetizers to the entrees, everything was underwhelming--and much of it arrived lukewarm, which gave the impression that it had been sitting around rather than coming fresh from the kitchen. The steaks were probably the biggest miss. I ordered medium-well, expecting at least a little pink, but what arrived was completely cooked through and tough. Another person in our party ordered a medium steak, and it was tough as well. At that point, I'm thinking the issue may not have been the requested temperature...the kitchen just may not know how to cook a steak. The cocktails didn't exactly redeem the evening either. They were lacking in flavor and, honestly, the alcohol pour was so light I almost wondered if the bartender was working with a ration card. What makes it even more disappointing is the price. When you're spending that kind of money for a birthday dinner, you expect the food and drinks to match the atmosphere and the bill. Unfortunately, this experience left us seriously underwhelmed. I'll definitely be skipping this Joey location in the future. And after this experience, I may need to put the entire Joey franchise on a little timeout. Beautiful setting, disappointing execution. Food here was delicious !!!! The mini French dips are basically toast with a slice of steak and a sauce, yummy but a little pricey. The ravioli was filling and the shrimps were tasty. The chicken katsus on the carbonara was also very good! Service was sadly quite a bit slower than we would like. We had to ask for everything .. more water, soda refills ($5.50), extra silverware, a steak knife. Doesn't seem understaffed they just aren't very observant and no one checks in. We made reservations for 12 at 8:30. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were able to seat 17 at 9:15 - 6 older people at the regular tables and the remaining 11 at high tops. Hannah was what I would call, our lead server. She exuded joy, competence, and kindness. At the end of the dinner, she brought my husband a celebration cheesecake. It read Congratulations 2026 USC! We didn't even tell her where he graduated from. That was so special to us. The food: I ordered my usual grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. It was typically spectacular. My in laws and their friends ALL ordered the salmon. They said they loved it. My sister in law ordered a burger and devoured it. My brother in law ordered a one random sautéed salmon. It was wildly overcooked. They immediately brought him a new medium salmon that he found perfect. My cousin got the sea bass and shared it with me. I found it delicate and delicious. We ordered apps for the table from the late happy hour menu and I had a beautiful pinot noir recommended by Hannah and a random glass of complimentary bubbly from the hostess. They put Cheddar cheese, you know, real cheese on their burgers and not that awful American cheese also known as cheese food. That alone makes me return more than once. We love their burgers and they will even cook them the way you want and not burn them because they think they have to. They are the best. It has double patties, cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, roasted onion aioli--what more could you want. I know, fries that are great. It comes with them or for a tad more you can get a side salad or truffle parmesan fries. It matters not, they are all great. Their steaks are so great. The Joey Classic is a sirloin cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes. You can also get the Prime NY Strip and it is more money (a lot more) but so worth it. Everything there is great. It is open late. I love that. It is open until midnight, but don't show up at midnight, the kitchen is closing. The service is great. The place is just beautiful. I think this is some sort of chain, but it sure is wonderful so open more. read more

I usually order the steak + sushi - filet upgrade and seared salmon option Nearly $100 for this dish and the steak comes out lukewarm and sushi tastes like you can make it at home. It's rice with seared salmon and mayo on top nothing crazy or special. Truffle fries didn't taste much like truffle and also came out lukewarm. Butter cake was very dense/doughy and heavy, I could only eat one bite. We also ordered the Mini Short Rib French Dips as well, comes in 2 or 4 pieces. We ordered 4 They have different size meat on every piece. One was a scrap , literally less than half of the others. Imagine we ordered 2 piece and got the tiny pieces, I wouldn't have even known any better. If you're not going to be consistent with the food/portions don't put the irregularities on the same plate as the others!! Just lazy and rookie mistakes you would not expect at a high end establishment. Looks like they don't even care at all to throw in that tiny gimpy piece. Also one of the pieces were barely thrown on the plate leaning off the plate. I fixed it for the first photo, but in my 2nd photo it shows how it came to our table. It is always a fun experience at Joey's. The staff were super accommodating, they were attentive and very kind. I just love how you're greeted with a glass of bubbles as you wait to get seated. The menu is pretty diverse, and it's hard to choose between what to order. For some reason, my ribeye was overly peppered, every bite was very difficult because of the amount of peppers used, I thought I was eating a Cacio E Pepe at that point. Except what was I going to do? Send the steak back? That's a little bit wasteful, so of course we have to eat it. The staff brought out the wrong drinks, a couple of times, which I said, I'll just take it thinking it's not gonna be wasteful, but they ended up charging us for it? God forbids me from being wasteful... but ok. The ambience of the restaurant is chill, it can get really busy, so a reservation is recommended. read more

Joey Manhattan Beach is a nice spot that clearly gets a lot of business, especially with the many offices and companies nearby. The restaurant was busy for diner but they gave us free champagne! Prices are on the higher side, which is expected for MB, but the food quality was solid. We ordered the Katsu Chicken Salad, which was the highlight. The katsu was nicely breaded and crispy, the salad was really tasty, and the portion was filling with a good amount of food. I also tried the seared salmon sushi. The salmon tasted fresh and well prepared, but the portion was pretty light and honestly not very filling compared to the katsu dish. The mall itself is nicely remodeled and has plenty of other food options nearby if the wait at Joey is long. It is also very close to Handel's Ice Cream, which makes it easy to grab dessert afterward. I parked in the south parking structure which is right next to Joey. The parking is convenient but it can get crowded unless you get lucky with timing. Overall the area feels very safe and pleasant to walk around. It makes for a nice little date spot, though it is definitely priced according to the location. I would return again. read more

First time going to JOEY despite having lived in LA for a few years. Never knew what I missing out on until now. To be fair, you have to be amazing to open so many stores with all good reviews. Reservations are definitely recommended no matter the hour. I came in on Thursday around 8:00PM, and had to wait 30min for a table for 4. They give you free champagne while you wait, but honestly after a few sips it was pretty mid. Overall vibe was upscale and relatively dimly lit (partially due to the time), so it'll make a good place for any occasion. Prices are relatively fair for the ambiance and quality, though there are some menu items that could definitely be cheaper. Overall menu and restaurant vibes felt like an upscale version of the lazy dog, with a lot of menu options being asian inspired. I ordered a Joey Classic Steak since I was curious on their on their "famous crispy mashed potatoes". The steak was full of flavor and had a distinct and unique taste profile that isn't just salt and pepper. It was perfectly cooked medium that was juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes are just...fried spring rolls with a mashed potato filling and some sour cream. Definitely was expecting more of a unique flavor or texture profile, so was a little disappointed. Always worth a try for the curious foodie, especially on some "famous" or "unique" dish. Worth mentioning that I also tried the sushi in the Sushi and Steak order. The salmon was seared to perfection and the cut was melt in your mouth kind of quality - a must order over the classic steak. The lobster pasta is overpriced, and the flavor profile tasted like something you can find at any pasta place. You're just paying for the lobster at that point, and even then it felt like just 1 lobster. Service is very friendly and full of energetic (and attractive) people. Food came out a little slower than expected, but at least they timed it so it all came at the same time. I also told them it was my birthday and asked them if they did anything, and I was surprised with a little birthday cake! The creme brulee cake is amazing - to a point where I recommend ordering it for dessert. It was not too sweet and felt light. read more

After going to the downtown location several times, we decided to try this one as my mother was visiting (first time to SoCal/LA) and we had a phenomenal time. Drinks, food, service....all excellent. For those who say it is noisy, yes, but not intolerable. Just about normal for an evening in LA that has upper level dining. Logan was THE BOMB!! I'm writing this for our most recent visit to this Joey's to celebrate our friend's birthday. Of course, my wife and I recommended that we come here as we've always had great experience here for our many previous visits. I have already written a review from one of our get-together celebration here. For this visit, the experience was not that great most specifically when I came to the reception where the staff at the front prioritized those people in groups before me even though I was there first to let check in for our reservation for our group. They asked me to step aside and wait for my friends before they speak to me about our reservation and then talked to all the other people who were supposed to be after me. After they checked us in they asked us to sit down by the waiting area to wait to be called to be accompanied to our table but I noticed they provided welcome drinks to the other people they checked in but not to us. Never happened to us here before, but no big deal because we like coming here and we enjoy the food here though a lot of times could be loud and sometimes more chaotic than other times. However, after that unusual experience at the front reception area, everything else went very well. The wait was reasonable, the foods were great as usual, and the service was super! I would like to give a super kudos to Emma R. who attended to us during this visit. She was one of the key factors this was still a great experience for us. She provided great, friendly, attentive and efficient service and always gave us wonderful attitude in a very fun yet calm demeanor. But everything else about this place was great; the mood lighting, the view of the kitchen, the nice open booths, just to name a few. Came on a date night with my girl and we both had a great time! We shared the spicy crab dip for an appetizer, which tasted so good with the bread it came with. She had the Mediterranean chicken bowl and I had the tuna poke bowl with avocado; both were flavorful and just enough for the both of us.
