We made reservations for 12 at 8:30. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were able to seat 17 at 9:15 - 6 older people at the regular tables and the remaining 11 at high tops. Hannah was what I would call, our lead server. She exuded joy, competence, and kindness. At the end of the dinner, she brought my husband a celebration cheesecake. It read Congratulations 2026 USC! We didn't even tell her where he graduated from. That was so special to us. The food: I ordered my usual grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. It was typically spectacular. My in laws and their friends ALL ordered the salmon. They said they loved it. My sister in law ordered a burger and devoured it. My brother in law ordered a one random sautéed salmon. It was wildly overcooked. They immediately brought him a new medium salmon that he found perfect. My cousin got the sea bass and shared it with me. I found it delicate and delicious. We had such a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at JOEY Manhattan Beach yesterday, and our server, Viv, made the experience even more special. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish. She gladly accepted to take my toddlers order even if our table was still waiting for the rest of the guests. Even though the restaurant was busy for the holiday, she made us feel genuinely taken care of and never rushed. I usually order the steak + sushi - filet upgrade and seared salmon option Nearly $100 for this dish and the steak comes out lukewarm and sushi tastes like you can make it at home. It's rice with seared salmon and mayo on top nothing crazy or special. Truffle fries didn't taste much like truffle and also came out lukewarm. Butter cake was very dense/doughy and heavy, I could only eat one bite. We also ordered the Mini Short Rib French Dips as well, comes in 2 or 4 pieces. We ordered 4 They have different size meat on every piece. One was a scrap , literally less than half of the others. Imagine we ordered 2 piece and got the tiny pieces, I wouldn't have even known any better. If you're not going to be consistent with the food/portions don't put the irregularities on the same plate as the others!! Just lazy and rookie mistakes you would not expect at a high end establishment. Looks like they don't even care at all to throw in that tiny gimpy piece. They put Cheddar cheese, you know, real cheese on their burgers and not that awful American cheese also known as cheese food. That alone makes me return more than once. We love their burgers and they will even cook them the way you want and not burn them because they think they have to. They are the best. It has double patties, cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, roasted onion aioli--what more could you want. I know, fries that are great. It comes with them or for a tad more you can get a side salad or truffle parmesan fries. It matters not, they are all great. Their steaks are so great. The Joey Classic is a sirloin cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes. You can also get the Prime NY Strip and it is more money (a lot more) but so worth it. Everything there is great. It is open late. I love that. It is open until midnight, but don't show up at midnight, the kitchen is closing. The service is great. The place is just beautiful. The restaurant has an endearing practice of offering a complimentary glass of champagne to all diners upon arrival. Mariah was our affable server. We ordered martinis, a medium rare ribeye with fries, and a house salad. Top level A #1 all the way! The steak was well seasoned and so tender. The salad was lightly and perfectly dressed. We were compelled to ask Mariah to deliver our compliments to the chef for an outstanding meal. We eat out often and this was one of the most perfect experiences. Joey Manhattan Beach is a nice spot that clearly gets a lot of business, especially with the many offices and companies nearby. The restaurant was busy for diner but they gave us free champagne! Prices are on the higher side, which is expected for MB, but the food quality was solid. We ordered the Katsu Chicken Salad, which was the highlight. The katsu was nicely breaded and crispy, the salad was really tasty, and the portion was filling with a good amount of food. I also tried the seared salmon sushi. The salmon tasted fresh and well prepared, but the portion was pretty light and honestly not very filling compared to the katsu dish. The mall itself is nicely remodeled and has plenty of other food options nearby if the wait at Joey is long. It is also very close to Handel's Ice Cream, which makes it easy to grab dessert afterward. I parked in the south parking structure which is right next to Joey. The parking is convenient but it can get crowded unless you get lucky with timing. Overall the area feels very safe and pleasant to walk around. It makes for a nice little date spot, though it is definitely priced according to the location. I would return again. read more

First time going to JOEY despite having lived in LA for a few years. Never knew what I missing out on until now. To be fair, you have to be amazing to open so many stores with all good reviews. Reservations are definitely recommended no matter the hour. I came in on Thursday around 8:00PM, and had to wait 30min for a table for 4. They give you free champagne while you wait, but honestly after a few sips it was pretty mid. Overall vibe was upscale and relatively dimly lit (partially due to the time), so it'll make a good place for any occasion. Prices are relatively fair for the ambiance and quality, though there are some menu items that could definitely be cheaper. Overall menu and restaurant vibes felt like an upscale version of the lazy dog, with a lot of menu options being asian inspired. I ordered a Joey Classic Steak since I was curious on their on their "famous crispy mashed potatoes". The steak was full of flavor and had a distinct and unique taste profile that isn't just salt and pepper. It was perfectly cooked medium that was juicy and tender. The mashed potatoes are just...fried spring rolls with a mashed potato filling and some sour cream. Definitely was expecting more of a unique flavor or texture profile, so was a little disappointed. Always worth a try for the curious foodie, especially on some "famous" or "unique" dish. Worth mentioning that I also tried the sushi in the Sushi and Steak order. The salmon was seared to perfection and the cut was melt in your mouth kind of quality - a must order over the classic steak. The lobster pasta is overpriced, and the flavor profile tasted like something you can find at any pasta place. You're just paying for the lobster at that point, and even then it felt like just 1 lobster. Service is very friendly and full of energetic (and attractive) people. Food came out a little slower than expected, but at least they timed it so it all came at the same time. I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. Upon walking in, you can clearly see the lovely decor and elegance. There was a greeter at the door and he assisted in patrons coming to the check in desk, so not to be too crowded. The hostesses were very kind and there was no problem with the reservation we made. The molten lava cake was divine and rich. I also enjoyed the Kiwi Collins. This restaurant is in a shopping center so many parking options: valet, in a covered structure, outside. As far as Saturday evening dinner, this place is somehow a popular attraction. Must be the shoppers coming here after a long day of shopping. There are more fashionably dressed patrons here, too. This place is fancy. And expensive. It's a big open floor dining space. Very crowded. Make reservations before you come. Best place to sit is the booths in the middle of the dining area. I started with spicy cauliflower and my entree was the sushi and steak. My fav is the cauliflower. The steak was fine, but not remarkable. The lava cake for dessert was good. The negatives were being seated in front of the late afternoon sun glare. My Cabernet Sauvignon glass was dirty with fingerprints and water spots. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when coming here because it's a chain restaurant right outside of a mall. However I was pleasantly surprised. During the meal I got the makers mark old fashioned, and it was good and easy to drink. Our table got a few appetizers to share including the Japanese Gyoza, Parmesan truffle fries, mini steak French dips, and the Korean fried cauliflower. Everyone one of these was so tasty, I was a little sad I had to share. For my meal, I got the steak and sushi dish and opted for the seared salmon sushi and also upgraded to the 7oz prime top sirloin. The steak was sliced and done tataki-style in a pool of ponzu sauce. The salmon was more of a nigiri style than a roll style with osaka pressed, fire torched salmon. SO GOOD. Would go here again just for this dish. A few of my table mates got this as well but opted for the tuna and avocado crunch roll and they also loved it. Another table mate ordered the chargrilled 10 oz pork chop served with a peanut salsa macha, mexican street corn and potato gnocchi ragout, with pickled onions & cilantro. He loved it and said it has great flavor. For dessert we tried a little bit of everything. The individually baked apple Pie was the one that I had my eye on and it was tasty. The crème brûlée cheesecake was good but I like the sugar crust on top a little More crisp personally and the molten chocolate cake for a lot of likes at the table as well. However the standout to me was surprisingly the butter cake. It was amazing. I ended up trying a butter cake somewhere else the next day because this one was so good. And it was no where close. We went to Joey's at Manhattan Village and had a very good experience. This is one of if not my wife's favorite resturant. Our server, I believe her name was Vivian, was very attentive. She brought me extra ice and water without me even having to ask, and I really appreciated that because I was feeling dehydrated for some reason. We did not get my usual chicken dish this time. Instead, my friend and I both got the smash burgers and they were very good. The fries were solid and that side salad was better than I expected. It felt more like a power bowl than just a little salad. I loved the beets and all the things they added into it. It was actually very filling. Found that odd since multiple tables were open and there was a healthy amount of staff. We didn't go to the bar & were semi amused to observe the confusion/inability of the hosts to seat parties in a timely fashion & or offer guests the signature welcoming glass of champagne. We weren't offered any champagne, and the two other parties who checked in after us also weren't offered any. Then suddenly, without rhyme or reason, hosts started offering it to parties again. Very odd. Finally at 6:15 we were seated at a comfortable booth but one which faced the setting sun resulting in the next 15 mins of uncomfortable. The blinds were down on the windows but they simply don't work! Why have blinds at all? (It's also worth noting, this booth was open when we arrived but it took us 15 mins to be seated there)! Our drink orders were taken promptly but then it took quite a bit of time to get our servers attention to order food....long story short, our appetizers were finally on the table at 7pm. While we enjoyed those (cauliflower & the chicken wraps), we were less than impressed with our entrees, which arrived about 7:30pm. Husband got the steak and sushi - steak was OK but the sushi was warm from sitting under a heat lamp for so long. Meanwhile my Parmesan fries were lukewarm at best. When we received our main course, husband asked our server for a menu to choose a beer. Server never brought the menu, we couldn't locate her and halfway thru finishing his meal, husband no longer cared. Now, it's 8:10pm and we have to flag down anyone so we can ask for our server to return. Our server finally returns - never asks if we want dessert, another drink,etc . Finally at 8:20pm, we left to go home. Bartenders touching the rim of glassware after touching money/credit cards. No cutlery for my meal. Had a mediocre visit last time - funky meat slices with chewy veins of fat in the French dip. Was visible when the dish was set down - why did the kitchen let that item leave like that? This last time I sat in a booth for about 10-15 minutes and never got a chance to order. This was such a nice place. Everything is modern and chic. Upon arrival we were offered complimentary sparking wine. We did not have to wait long at all. We went earlier in the day, so it wasn't crowded. The food was delicious and the service was great, and the waitress made great recommendations. It was great celebrating with family today! It's a birthday celebration and although we were 30 minutes early to our reservation, we were able to get seated closer to the time we got there. There are a lot of local coffee, shops, and ice cream places nearby however for you to indulge on while you wait. I love the seating but I do believe for a table of six they need slightly bigger booths. Not much more room to boogie, but still nice. Jesse is an amazing waiter who is so attentive, great attitude, swift, and check on us often. Food came out pretty quickly as well. I absolutely loved the mini steak French dips and The seared salmon sushi. It was out of this world. I will say I wish the sushi was more firm. When I try to pick it up with my chopstick, it fell apart. Even on the fork, it was un sturdy. Other than that, the flavor was delicious. The mini steak French dip half order was great and the garlic toast was fluffy in the art and all. I absolutely love the butter cake, of course but I do need a little ice cream sometime because I love ice cream. I did share it, however, so it kept me within my calorie count for the day. We dine out often and understand that restaurants get busy, but this was consistent inattentiveness throughout the entire meal. It was a Saturday afternoon, 2:30pm - Our server, Hailey, repeatedly forgot basic requests -- iced tea refill, water, clearing appetizer plates, and even a to-go box after acknowledging it multiple times. She would say "sure," then walk away and appear distracted by looking at a menu(?)  and passing our table several times. The food itself was also underwhelming. My family's dishes arrived lukewarm, my daughter's steak was cooked incorrectly and had to be remade, and both steaks were overly peppered. I received my steak 10 min after my family received their food. The truffle fries tasted mostly like shredded cheese with very little truffle flavor. Even my husband's Old Fashioned came out looking like half a pour. This place managed to ruin the evening before we ever even sat down. We had an 8:15 PM reservation through OpenTable and arrived early at around 8:10 PM. When we checked in, the front of house was already incredibly chaotic, but we were told to wait in the bar area and that someone would come get us when our table was ready. We did exactly that and stayed nearby the entire time, about 15 feet from the hostess stand. After waiting roughly 20 minutes, we noticed that everyone who had been ahead of us had already been seated. So we went back to check in, expecting a quick clarification. Instead, the hostess immediately got confrontational and said, "We texted you over and over and you didn't respond, there's nothing we can do." That would have been a lot more convincing if we had actually received anything. We got no texts, no calls, no notifications while we were there. None. And we were standing just a few feet away the whole time. So we left and went to another restaurant, where we ended up getting much better food and much better service. Then came the funniest part of the whole experience: when we got home, we finally received a notification that our table was ready at 10:15 PM. That's right -- two hours after our reservation time, and well after we had already given up, eaten elsewhere, and gone home. So the restaurant's defense was that we had ignored repeated messages, but the only actual message we ever received came absurdly late. That pretty much sums up the level of disorganization here. The chaos would have been forgivable. The hostility, blame, and total lack of accountability were not. Definitely not worth the hassle, and absolutely not a place we'll be returning to. read more

I've been to Joey since the beginning of time! Multiple locations. The vibes are always spot on. I've networked, celebrated birthdays, company gatherings, and solo visited. I typically always have a great experience 98% of the time. I've practically had just about everything on the menu, including things that have been discontinued and I hope returns! Seared Salmon - Absolutely amazing, I am glad I eventually tried it. Herb Crusted Salmon - I cannot get enough of its perfectly flakey finish, I ask for no peas. Blanc sauce is just so good! Hibachi Wings I almost ALWAYS include this in my order. Baked with Mary's chicken dry rub multiple times throughout cooking. Smokey Spicy Crab Dip - Served with bread. I'm not a fan of smokey but they did a good job of balancing the flavors! CrabCake - (Discontinued) was absolutely amazing with a great sauce, texture and amazing zesty salad. I could go ON.
