Fishbar has become one of my favorite spots in Manhattan Beach! Whether to watch a Dodger game at the bar or get dinner with friends. Fishbar is a great spot for fresh seafood, good drinks, and huge plus being so close to the beach. The mezcal mango margarita is my favorite cocktail on the menu. The seafood is always fresh and flavorful. My go to apps to share are the tempura salmon bites and the crispy calamari. While the happy hour menu is relatively small, it still has good variety at reasonable prices. The staff is always very nice and attentive. Parking is also convenient, with a large two-story parking garage located across the street, as well as metered street parking nearby. read more

Wow, the food was amazing and the staff was friendly. We came in on a Saturday night around 7pm to celebrate my uncle's 60th birthday, and they did not disappoint. I'll be honest, I was a little bummed they didn't have Hennessy but the quality of the food more than made up for it. I ordered the lobster tacos and the salmon chowder. Both were fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Everyone at the table cleaned their plates, which says a lot. And I have to mention the bathroom... spotless, smelled great, and clearly well maintained (an underrated but important detail!). Parking is all around, if you're lucky it's free but if not there is a small fee. I'm so glad to finally have tried this place. I was craving raw oysters and to my surprise they're part of their daily Happy Hour, except on Saturday. I could be wrong but everything I've eaten tasted fresh and from scratch. You can't go wrong with the clam chowder and lobster. The Halibut fish and chips were delicious and not overly greasy. The drinks are good but the ones on happy hour are ok. There guests seem to be a mixture of company dinners and couples. They have a bar area and a couple of TVs streaming different sports. The music is good and the servers are kind. We stopped in for a seafood fix and were seated almost immediately despite the full house. Service was impressively fast throughout the night. The Tempura Salmon Bites were a highlight, literally melting in our mouths. For mains, the Chilean Sea Bass was near perfect, though the coconut flavor wasn't quite for me. The Wood Grilled Branzino felt like a work in progress; the fish, broccolini, and sauce were great, but the fennel and chickpeas felt out of place. It definitely needed a starch, so I ended up borrowing some smashed potatoes from the sea bass dish to round it out. The Fishbar Margarita was fresh but a bit bland, while the Tropical Mirage had better flavor (though it's rum-heavy). One of the best seafood options in the South Bay. Open since 1981 they specialize in seafood, but have a pretty large menu with all sorts of other options as well. Parking is really easy, there is a two-story parking garage across the street with metered parking or you can find a metered street spot. Inside is fairly large, complete full bar and many different table seating options. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. For this visit I chose the Lobster Bisque to start and really liked it. It was well balanced and had some nice flavors. I did think it could have had more lobster meat in it, but still it tasted great. For my entrée I chose the Chilean Seabass and I thought it was amazing. The dill piccata sauce was a real hit and everything about it was just great. I would highly recommend and this would especially be a good spot for dinner with friends or family. read more

Came to FishBar with our extended family to celebrate my mother in law's birthday, and overall it was a really nice experience. They were great about accommodating our reservation for thirteen people, which already made the night easier. Our waitress, Ms. Erica, as our little girls called her, was absolutely amazing. She was patient, kind, and handled our big group like a pro. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a really appealing vibe. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi and said it was good, just not something he was blown away by. I had the salmon with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. The salmon was a good portion size, which I was relieved about after seeing some reviews. It tasted great. The mashed potatoes honestly stole the show. The sautéed spinach was pretty bland. Our daughter ordered the penne pasta with butter, and I added the grilled chicken for her. The chicken was good, but she was not a fan of the pasta. It did not have much flavor and the presentation was not very appealing. She did enjoy the strawberry lemonade, so at least we had a win there. At the end of the meal, Erica surprised us by bringing out two plates of their ice cream sandwich desserts so we could sing happy birthday. It was such a sweet touch and made the moment special. It has been sometime since our last visit to this area. The reviews of prior visitors certainly provided us with an incentive to visit FishBar. Upon entering we were greeted, then promptly seated. Our server, Felix, took our drink orders, then described the items presented on the menu. The restaurant is very pleasant and inviting. This is my new favorite spot in town. The Peruvian Scallops and the Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna are my standouts, but I also highly recommend the Fish & Chips and even the Salmon Entree. Prices are on the pricier end, but it's worth every penny. Reservations are best, as they do get quite busy in the evening. There's a variety of seating. Not sure this is the place for large groups, but 2-6 can sit comfortably in here. There's also a nice bar area and ample TVs indoors. If you drop in, the bar is a great option for both drinks and food. Parking is available on the street or in a nearby parking garage. That garage is pretty tight and hard to access, so I suggest looking on the street first. I will be back to try out the Happy Hour very soon! read more

My name got fish and chips- paired with clam chowder. She really liked her meal. My mum got shrimp pasta paired with asparagus. Everything was extremely flavorful and spooo good. I have had an excellent experience at Fishbar in Manhattan Beach. The seafood here is really good, and everything I have tried has been flavorful and well-prepared. I especially loved the branzino--it is now one of my favorite dishes. Our waitress actually recommended it, and I am glad she did because it did not disappoint. The salmon tempura was something different for me, but it was definitely good. I also tried the clam chowder, and that was solid as well. I ended up coming back a second time and brought my mom, and she really enjoyed it too. That says a lot. We did have a small hiccup with one of the soups we took to go, but what stood out was how management handled it. They acknowledged the issue and resolved it in a way that made me feel valued as a customer. That kind of service makes you want to come back. The staff has always been friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to, which is something you really appreciate these days. Fishbar serves Coke products. The Diet Coke was cold and very fizzy. The food was very tasty, portions were great for lunch, and well presented. Food arrived in a timely manner. It was a very busy lunch crowd. The best part of the dining experience was Bailey, our server. She was attentive, helpful and friendly. Our server was incredibly personable and talkative. FishBar is THE place to go for seafood in Manhattan Beach, especially if you want to avoid the touristy crowds and overpriced menus. The food, service, and ambiance here are all great and consistent. LOL My daughter is a regular at FishBar, she told me it's a great place for seafood just couple miles away. I never went there because parking is not exactly to my liking in El Porto. It turn out to be a great choice, I love it. I tried their Cioppino, which its easy to tell how good a seafood restaurant is by looking at what they put in it. It was GREAT! Good amount of Large scallops, good size shrimps, clams, mussels, and small pieces of salmon, and just couple tender squids. (unlike some restaurants fill the bowl with cheap fishes and low cost squids). Everything was fresh and taste great. My date had Blackened Swordfish, it was nicely done, not dry. The server John was excellent, He made the meal a wonderful experience. Overall, I like this place very much, it'll be on my short list of good restaurants in the neighborhood. We went for my daughters 18th birthday and I reserved off their app from their website. We had quite a lot to munch and try! Started off with: Coconut shrimp was the favorite. Although four pieces for the prices is a little steep and maybe the plating also made it look like there should be at lease one more piece. It came with a great mango, jalapeño salsa. Happy hour oysters, super fresh, clear 6 pretty quickly! Calamari was fried just right. Pretty good. Salmon sashimi was super fresh and yummy. They use soy sauce and ponzu for it and a mix of different toppings. We all like it! Smoked Salmon chowder was a hit. My husband declared it was his new favorite. Salmon plate, we ordered original (they had blackened too), it came a bit seared. So if you don't like that maybe let them know to cook it in more. Shrimp and scallop on skewers. The flavors were great, but I'm convince no one knows how to cook scallops. I would have like an extra shrimp vs the scallops. Also it was included bacon on the stick on wrapped (at less that I can tell), my pieces were all super fatty, so I didt finish those. My baked potatoe and spinach was cooked perfectly. I dined here tonight (6/30/25) with my friend and I was so disappointed. We were here two years ago and had such an amazing time----the service was impeccable (I believe our servers name was Erica at the time. If she's still there, never let her go because she was amazing) and the food was on point. Five stars all around. We came back tonight because my friend kept talking about how she wanted to go back and man, what a shame. Truth be told, I would have rated it two stars today but the first visit a couple years ago made me bump it up one. The hostess was great and we were seated very quickly as we had a reservation. Our server tonight, John, greeted us promptly and asked us if we wanted to start off with waters. After he brought us waters, we ordered a wine and a cocktail and interestingly, the drinks came out at different times by someone other than our server. No big deal, just an observation. But the issue was it took a while for him to re-approach our table to take our food order. When he did, he did say he would course out our order so we could enjoy our appetizers first and fire the entrees when we were ready which we appreciated. However, it took him a long time for him to come back to ask us if we were ready for our entrees and he was no where to be found. It was a Monday night so not sure if he was super busy doing other things for other tables but it didn't look too busy. On to the food. We ordered half a dozen oysters which were so good and fresh. We also started with Salmon Tempura bites which were the star of the show. It was a beautiful presentation, perfectly balanced and a pretty big portion. I had a bowl of clam chowder while my friend had a cup----we had this last time we were here and knew it was good. I was pleasantly surprised that the bowl was huge compared to the cup so, honestly, we could've just split one. I ended up taking some home some leftover soup. My friend ordered fish tacos because she got it last time and was obsessed so she ordered again this time. She subbed the side it came with with garlic fries for a dollar extra----something the previous waitress suggested. As for me, I unfortunately asked John what he preferred between the Fish Sandwich or the Coconut Crusted Mahi Mahi. John told me he preferred the mahi mahi----I'm sure he did because there is a distinct price difference between the two and I'm sure he wanted to up the check average. I went with his recommendation and I'm so bummed I did. The presentation was pretty but the dish was so terrible----rice was mushy, there was barely any curry despite the curry broth description on the menu, and there was absolutely no flavor. There's bland and then there's this dish. It was so bad, I tried my best to try to eat it and I couldn't even eat a quarter of the dish. Our server didn't come back to check on us and never asked us how are food was. He did come back way later to ask us if we needed boxes to go and my friend asked for a container for my soup and a box for her tacos (they're huge so she was full). I told him I didn't want to take my food home and he seemed unbothered and left to grab the boxes. A busser(?) came by to clear all the empty plates and all that was left was my almost completely uneaten dish. The server came by to give us our check and didn't even ask about the lone dish that was there....uneaten. He just ignored it. I didn't want to cause any issues so we just ended up paying and left after he scurried away hurriedly like he couldn't even be bothered. I was a little annoyed that I paid $34 on a terrible dish that I barely ate. To be fair, I could have talked to the server and I would have if he checked up on us after the food was delivered. I would have sent it back. I ended up just finishing the Salmon Tempura Bites we were eating as an appetizer while everyone just ignored my full plate of food. This kind of service negates the previous amazing experience and makes me not want to come back but----who knows? Maybe my friend can convince me to come back with her one more time so she can get her fish tacos. Maybe one day I'll feel like driving 30+ minutes to eat here again and hope it's better. Who knows? On a side note though, the bathrooms are super clean---like sparkly clean and I loved it. read more
