Really, maybe somewhat shy of five stars. The three of us went here on a Tuesday afternoon, got the grilled swordfish, fish and chips and mahi mahi sandwich with clam chowder side. Grilled calamari was the appetizer. Everything was delicious. The clam chowder simply cannot be beat. Whoever might read this, do not, do not, do not skip the clam chowder! It's easier to say what was less impressive, though, than what was best or better and it would be the calamari, still quite good but not special compared to elsewhere so maybe something else next time. Their tequila cocktail with the mescal mist was excellent but could have been served in another, perhaps slightly larger glass. Those are the criticisms. Cost was very reasonable, service top shelf. The ambiance is great, beautiful place in a great location. In our humble opinion, this is a highly recommended choice for really good seafood in upscale-casual surroundings that won't break the bank. I'd of taken dates here in past years. read more

BEST lobster Cobb salad I've ever had. I like it with ranch, but blue cheese is great too. Now, the best part...the service! Our server, Anthony, and the manager, Chuy, are AMAZING!! Not only did we get great service from start (hostess) to finish...but some full "Karen" B!t*h came in and complained from start to finish. Even complained about her FREE margarita to get a FREE shot in it. It took EVERYTHING I had in me to not swing by on my way out to let her know that her "C U Next Tuesday" attitude was observed by all. Congrats on your free meal! Always such a fan of the salmon chowder! Been coming here for years for that alone, altho all other fish dishes I've had here were good, too. The coconut shrimp also never disappoint! Convenient paid lot across the street as well as street parking. Sometimes gets really busy on weekends or at dinner time, but this area is real nice to walk around and the blocks are really short, so however far away you park, it's still not that far or difficult. read more

Went there for dinner tonight. Service is friendly and really attentive. They serve complimentary warm sourdough rounds - and we had a lot of it. Their clam chowder is yummy. Not too creamy and clams abundant. I had the scallops on skewer which was ok. The lobster bisque, shrimp scampi were pretty good. The salad, oysters, coconut shrimp and steamed clams were 10 out of 10. They have large screens for watching sports, some booth seats and high top seating. Good acoustics for private conversations. Had an unfortunate experience. I had the manager ask my fiance and I right as our dinner was going to be served if they can move us to a different seating location to accommodate another party that can sit where we were sitting. We were moved and felt embarrassed. Our 2 females waitress were outstanding, sweet, great and the food was great but the manager was terrible. Made me feel uncomfortable and mind you we were the only Hispanics there at the time. Very disappointed, I advised the manager that it was inappropriate what she was asking for twice and she ignored me. Walking distance to the Beach with a metered parking structure right across the street (a super + if you're familiar with beach cities parking). Sammi was our server and did a fantastic job making suggestions regarding the wine and food. The Manager, Marianna, actually came to the table to make sure everything was ok (she did this for other tables but it's just a nice extra touch that you don't really experience anymore). It's a great spot for enjoying yourself at the raw bar of sports bar by yourself, date night, dinner with friends, family dinner (with kids), etc. They have a pretty extensive menu with weekly night special. I contemplated giving them 4 or 5 stars but decided to go with the 5 star rating because they are not pretentious and their food is decent value for good quality seafood. First of all, picked Wednesday evening dinner to check out the snow crab weekly special day (20% off wine bottle). You get a pound of snow crab with 2 sides ($2 to sub in house salads and soups) for $39.99. The crab was great the saw it was naturally prepared, didn't even need the butter. The side options are extensive, especially when you can sub in 3 types of salad and soups. Picked the mashed potato, which was amazing and ceasar salad. We also enjoyed the Happy Hour menu. The oysters and Peruvian scallops were fresh and the coconut shrimp and fried calamari were lightly battered and well-seasoned. Also we had amazing service. Friendly and positive energy from our main server and the staff who bussed our plates were professional and efficient. Had reservations for a party of nine on a Wednesday evening at 5:30. Told we only had the table for 90 mins. Okay, some restaurants will do this, just odd being a Wednesday. Server was good but when our food was delivered to the table, one in our party did not receive their food. He didn't want us to wait so the rest of us started to eat our meal. I was 2/3rd finished when his finally arrived. The person who delivered the meal was not our server, set the meal in front of the person, did not look at him and just said "so sorry" and walked away. We went to Fishbar last night with two other couples and had a very enjoyable time. Parking was easy in the city lot and surprisingly there were many street spaces available. We started with cocktails and the Calamari and Flash-Fried Brussels Sprouts. Both were very good. We loved the little fried onions on top of the Brussels sprouts. We had the Lobster Mac and Cheese which was a huge portion, very rich and creamy! We also had the salmon with a loaded baked potato which was delicious. Two of us had the Shrimp, Scallop, and Bacon skewers with asparagus and garlic fries. Two of us had the grilled shrimp skewers with coleslaw. We also enjoyed the New England Clam Chowder which was full of clams and potatoes. The sourdough bread dipped in the soup was fantastic. We were too full for dessert, but we will make room next time. Came here after work for their happy hour and dinner. There is street parking outside that is metered. The restaurant itself is in a great location near the beach and fittingly nautical themed. The server was great and informed us of happy hour before we ordered. We got coconut shrimp and calamari of the HH Menu. The calamari was crispy and cooked well. The coconut shrimp were just okay for me. They were a little sweet and I didn't like the sauce that came with it. For dinner I would recommend the cioppino. It was filled with fish and seafood. The fish was tender and the scallops in it weren't chewy. The soup itself was rich and flavorful. The perfect cold day entree!! My partner ordered the seared ahi burger which wasn't as impressive. The burger itself was lacking in flavor and I felt as though it needed more crunch/texture. The fries it came with were excellent though! The service was amazing and restaurant itself is very cute. This place started out pretty good. Despite not having any trout on the menu, which is how I judge any seafood or seafood grill, the entree I did have was done to greatness. It was a little light on the actual shrimp and scallops, but what was there definitely satisfied. No, the real star of the show was the Salted Caramel'wich, which was an amazing take on an ice cream sandwich. It made my taste buds soar to new sugary and creamy delight. It was massive for a dessert, which was the way I liked it. It really was heaven on a plate. My only complaint was the server laying it in the middle of the table despite my letting him now that this was my dessert twice. It was the same with bringing multiple spoons for the party. WTF, dude? Not only is a shared dessert a stupid choice, but he directly ignored my telling him that this should have been served directly to me. That's why I can't give good marks on the service. I try not to be a complainer, but when a waiter ignores the words out of my mouth and laughs at them as if I'm making a joke, that's a sign of either inattentiveness or callousness. Both qualities I do not want in my experience when eating. Trying to give my dessert away pretty much soured any good spirits for this place and that, along with the small entree portions, makes my wary of coming back--despite the bombass dessert they have waiting there. read more

The brunch here isn't very traditional but it is unique. How often to you come to a sports bar with really good food? It can be kind of loud but not so much you can't hear your table mates. The staff is always so professional and polite. There are tv's everywhere with lots of different sports going on. They usually have good specials and great menus on holidays. It's always busy as the food is really good. The Brussel sprouts are nicely seasoned and done so even if you don't like Brussel sprouts you'd eat these. The artichokes were a little tough than and not as steamed as I like. I would pass on that next time. I love the Manhattan Clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Also a favorite (when they have it) is the Halibut fish and chips. Tonight we chose blackened salmon with garlic fries and steamed broccoli. and the sea bass with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both were very tasty and all was devoured minus the broccoli. Both pieces of fish were well seasoned without being overly seasoned. They were both and moist. I'd order both again. We also split the key lime pie which is a small round pie with a tablespoon of fresh whipped cream, a strawberry and a blackberry. It's not overly sweet and a perfect size so to end the meal on. I don't drink so I can't tell you about the liquor though I know it's extensive by the looks of the menu and bottles on the wall. Metered parking is easiest across the street and it can get full quick on a weekend. This is a delicious little spot if you're in the area but be aware they can get busy in evenings on weekends and holidays so best to make a reservation. read more

I noticed there are many sports bars in the area. So if you don't mind that you may enjoy this place. The crab Mac and cheese was fantastic. Sliced zucchini also delicious. Would return to explore menu. Service was adequate. Wish they had a whisky list I could access. The bar is too far away from seating to know what they have on the shelf. The place has a cozy vibe but also a clanky noisy busy atmosphere. It's a nice spot not cluttered with the busier Manhattan beach area. This is more outskirts. My first time at FishBar last night was such a great experience . My friend and I ordered alot of food but we had no regrets because everything was delicious! To start we had the Lilikoi sour and they were so tasty, not very sweet but done just perfectly and you gotta love the egg whites on a drink! I can drink one again right now just thinking about it lol. For appetizers we ordered the Peruvian sea scallops which were one of the specials and a dozen oysters. I loved the scallops and the oysters (though just a little small) were so fresh tasting. We both then decided to have the new england clam chowder and we added the bread bowl for the extra 2.99 because "when in Rome..." but this probably led me to feeling extra full later but once again, No regrets. I loved it especially that sourdough bread As for our entrees, I had the Baja fried Fishbar tacos and I substituted the rice for garlic fries and it was sooooo good. (Thank you to our server Erica for the recommendation;) ) my friend had the fish and chips and loved those too! Everything was amazing, in fact leaving the restaurant having difficulty standing up straight from eating all that delicious food, I kept getting whiffs of my leftovers and kept wanting more but I couldnt . Thus unfortunately (mainly me) , we had to room in our stomachs to try dessert. I would love to come back and definitely try out more of their menu items. everything that walked by our table looked so appetizing. The restaurant was definitely a bit busy, but also had a lot of tvs if you're trying to watch a game. The booths were comfy, though I will say the bar looked a little tight fitting , even just trying to walk to the bathroom. FishBar is also just a quick walk to the beach! My friend had the salmon chowder and lobster rolls. My friend really enjoyed both especially the soup. I was told that the lobster roll was so good and the bread was buttery and melts in your mouth. We had a few cocktails the jalapeño margarita and the a cucumber vodka based drink I can't remember the name. Th spicy margarita was to spicy my friend could not handle it.
