Big fan of the yuzu lime vinaigrette for the salad. Friends got the sandwiches and tacos which they said were also good. Though the tacos are pricey, they are big. You can find solid, reliably good food at FISHBAR MANHATTAN BEACH. They have an great selection of popular foods that make this a great place for groups to go to. And they know it too! You can tell by how many large tables they have indoors that could accommodate groups. They have different specials on different days. It was lobster day on our visit so I ordered LOBSTER NACHOS. Can't go wrong and they didn't. They also had drink specials so I had one of their whiskey drinks. Can't remember the name but it was good. So strong. But tasted great! I'll just say I'm giving this place an overall 5 stars. From walking in to leaving this place was just a great experience. I had planned to go in solo because of the excellent ratings and wanted to just try out the place out. Great atmosphere overall. I walked in and ended up sitting at the bar which I had not planned but everyone was just so friendly and welcoming. So I sat at the bar and the bartender Josh was very helpful and insightful. They had regulars at the bar so that alone was a good sign. Made me feel like I was in an episode of "Cheers" The menu had so many options I didn't know what to eat. I ended up getting a whole main lobster and it was so worth the price. I want to go back just to try the variety of food options. The New England claim chowder was hearty and delicious. Main lobster with the melted butter, yum. And my goodness, that bread pudding, to die for, one of the best I've had. Everything was so good including the drinks. Will most definitely be back. First of all, our entrees came out of the kitchen extremely fast - like it was already prepared and just was in need of a warm up. We ordered the halibut special ($44) and the portion was extremely small. We also ordered the main course ahi that came with mash potatoes and wanted to substitute those. We were told that they couldn't do that and there would be an upcharge for that. So we ordered sweet potato french fries and they were cold and shrivel, and charged $7 (not the price of the extra sides). Absolutely a fun place to have tasty seafood and also catch a game! Even a lot of fun if you're not about the game(s) but be aware: TV's everywhere. Parking in this area is absolutely painful. Plan on plenty of time to find street parking (waaaaay down on Rosecrans it's free) and pure luck at prime times in the corner lot at Highland/Rosecrans. Side streets are no bueno. The interior is dark wood but brightly lit daytime. Gets a little more "sexy" in the evenings. I've been a handful of times and favorites are still the oysters Rockefeller and the whole Happy Hour menu. This is actually the best time to come as, it is crowded, but reasonable with favs like Brussel sprouts and crispy calamari for $7.99 plus other favs for under $20. But it's just not that fancy nor groundbreaking, ya'll. So while this is a solid place for predictable food, it's not a destination. Which, for the parking hassle, it should be. We had an amazingly good time and fantastic food and drinks at Fish Bar on Sunday. Sammy was our waitress and was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. We ordered drinks, and I had to have a cup of their amazing new england clam chowder. Sammy checked in with us shortly thereafter, and we ordered our entrees. My wife had the Mahi Mahi tacos with a side salad, and I had the salmon entree with the garlic bacon green beans and coleslaw. Both dishes were well presented and quite tasty. I came here with a friend and once again were very impressed with the quality of food but the ordering process through the tablet was tedious. We tried several times and weren't successful. We had to ask the cashier for help. The place was very busy during lunch but we were able to find good seating. The manager was very nice when I asked for more of the taco sauce. He gave me 2. The calamari was delicious and the tartar sauce was better than many places I have tried. We got full from our meals and shared a lot of the items between us. This place is a classic and staple for Manhattan Beach area. The fish and chips and salmon and chips were pretty good. I had not eaten all day, so I was excited that they had lots of options. Our server, Isabella, was very ice to offer options since we were first timers. The ambiance is a cross between a sports bar and upscale dining. I would bring family back to visit this place. The service was also spotty- two tables next to us who got seated after us but got served much faster than we did. The mussel's sauce not mixed well at all, it was marinara on the top and then buttery/garlic oil at the bottom. It tasted like canned marinara sauce was just thrown on top. As an appetizer, we ordered salmon sashimi, which I thought was pretty good. The jalapeños, soy sauce, and fried onions did take away from the actual sashimi, but it was still enjoyable. The lobster tacos come as either grilled or fried. We got them grilled per our waitress's recommendation. I liked them the most! The sweet potato fries were also very good. The fried shrimp was a little disappointing. They were small and overdone, and there were only six shrimp--not worth in my opinion. The entree was more sides than anything. As a drink, we got the Tóxica. It was pretty good but not as spicy as I was expecting it to be. All in all, we had a pleasant experience here. I feel like there was enough Ahi but it could have used more mashed potatoes and veggies. Not only was there not enough food but they were very stingy with the ginger soy sauce. This place lived up to the hype that a few locals shared. We were looking for some good seafood and in particular, fish tacos. It hit the marks. I was worried there were only two in the order, but they were packed with great looking fried fish and the cabbage was crisp and fresh. We started with a spicy tuna appetizer which was amazing! We also shared a NE clam chowder bowl and despite the $16 price tag, it was packed with seafood and potatoes and was a portion that left us very satisfied.
