    Shrimp tacos

I was treated to a birthday lunch here by my team at work, and this was only my second visit. We started with calamari and crab cakes for appetizers. Both were really good. The crab cakes came with a side salad and cilantro dressing. I had a bite, and it was tasty. For my entrée, I ordered the whole fried tilapia with sweet potato fries and Mediterranean veggies on the side. The fish was crispy and flavorful. I do wish it had a bit more salt, but the pickled onions it was served with made it delicious. I ended up eating the whole thing! The sweet potato fries were good and not oily at all. The veggies, however, were a bit underwhelming and too peppery for my taste. I only ate about a quarter of the serving, and I usually love vegetables. For dessert, I ordered the fantasy chocolate cake, which is a chocolate ganache cake. It was good, but I wish it had been more moist. My coworkers ordered the carrot cake and ube mascarpone, and I had a bite of each. The carrot cake was a bit dry, but the ube mascarpone was delicious and creamy. I would definitely order that next time.

This is just a review on the one menu item that was so disappointing, it had to be reviewed on its own merits The New York Steak The first level of blame might be that a customer walks into a seafood restaurant... and opts to order a steak, beef over fish! Lesson learned. The second level of blame could be, after cutting into the steak ordered medium rare and seeing it a grey tan color with no juices flowing out nor red, let alone pink coloration... send it back graciously uneaten as it was clearly not medium rare, nor medium and was closer to Medium Well or Well Done. It was way overcooked. No juicy moisture, very dry Not tender, really tough Not red nor pink coloring, but very gray as if it was dehydrated Not fleshy consistency, but fiberous Aesthetically okay on the outside, but horrendous when you cut it open and looked at the inside. It was so bad, I's chalk it up to a kitchen error as it's a seafood restaurant that is used to grilling seafood but this is a 14oz (I believe) thin steak and a New York cut that lacks marbleization so is very unforgiving when neglected and overcooked. I speculate that it was not well attended to in the kitchen, a product of being busy and human error by the chef/cook tending to a hot flame grill with multiple orders cooking simultaneously. Again, the biggest mistake was not sending it back to return it. Blue Salt has good customer service and I wager they would have taken it back and prepared a new steak... but if it would have been done right (true medium rare) I'll never know and that's the regret of today. I hindsight, I'll now never know if the New York Steak at Blue Salt Grill is a good dish or not. I'm coming back here for the fish any time, every time and all of the time. It's too bad that when I crave beef and a steak, I was hoping to order that NY Steak here, but now lack confidence because it was so way off.

Rainbow trout with herb garlic butter over thai noodle salad

This location is in a plaza so theres some parking. This place is hands down one of the best spots for seafood. Quality and flavor! They really know how to cook and season their dishes to perfection. With plenty of options to customize your own plate. They also have items like wraps and salads. Forget about the other dining scams that off branzino when you can get it here for half the price that tastes way better. I ordered the rainbow trout seasoned with garlic and herb butter over thai noodle salad with a side of sweet potato fries. FIRE! I highly recommend

Similar concept to California Fish Grill, but with many more sides and options to choose from. I ordered the shrimp wrap and asked for the spicy mayo on the side since I can't eat spicy food. Without the sauce it ended up being a little bland, so I wish there had been a pico de gallo or another sauce option to add more flavor. My friends ordered the fish and shrimp taco plates. We also shared the Mediterranean octopus salad and the Brussels sprouts. In hindsight, we probably didn't need the extra dishes since the plates already come with sides and are pretty generous in portion. The service was friendly, and the staff cleared our table right after we finished eating. I would come back again to try some other dishes that don't rely on spicy mayo.

This is the best deal for seafood , you literally can't beat the prices. We got their Salmon and Scallops plate that comes with two sides. They were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The workers are very nice and the food came out pretty quick. The restaurant is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. ig: @cravingswithcat

The hostess was warm and very helpful. She offered detailed information about the dishes we were considering. Though it appears this restaurant does more takeout than dine in, allow time to dine in. Fun vibe to the dining room! Our dishes were excellent. We had the Mahi Mahi tacos and shrimp were. Both were hearty portions with clean, bright flavors. This was our third visit and yes, we will keep coming back! Cheers!

Very pleasant surprise. I'll cut right to the chase: this isn't the freshest seafood you can eat or the most skillful execution in seafood. But you know that coming here. This is a no frills, seafood grill, with good value, and that's exactly what you'll get. By current American prices, this is good value. $24 got me a giant plate with two large shrimp, two scallops (surprisingly tender!), and two filets of fish, and two heaping sides. Not bad at all!! Had enough for two large meals and then some. Again, this is amazing value for seafood. Everything is very salty, but I'm not complaining. I love salty tastes. And squeeze some lemon and you're doing great. They had so many flavors to flavor your seafood to choose from too - really fun actually! Again are they truly nuanced? Not exactly. Do they still deliver on taste variance? Yes. Is the value great? YES. We also had a great ceviche. No notes. And the cookie skillet - no notes. You can't go wrong with a cookie skillet. All in all, very Americana seafood taste, amazing value. Spent $85 for two ppl, feasted, and had more feast to take home. Also service was amazing. Everyone was friendly, fast, and willing to help. The young lady who said she took a 4 month break was AMAZING. so friendly, attentive, perky, and generous despite working for probably less tip than other joints! They also gave me a few extra scoop of ice cream on my skillet and free extra sauce. 10/10 service even though you gotta go to the counter to order, but after that they bring you the food. 8.9/10 - food 10/10 - value and getting what you should expect 10/10 - location was clean, orderly, spacious, no frills. Has it's own parking lot - that's huge! Has some outdoor seating too but it's just a small section in front of the parking lot.

The only thing missing from this food is... ... .... ..... ...... ....... ........ ......... L-O-V-E. It's missing LOVE guys!!! Bluesalty, why do you salty, blue faced smurfs hate us so much that you want to serve us soggy, over salted but otherwise underseasoned slop? What the heck did we do to you? Are you just mad at the world and want to punish it by drolling out whatever 2-bit sloppy sloppy slop slop your kitchen wants to pimp out to it's paying customers? We live in a society. Please start acting like it. If restaurants were customers in a grocery store parking lot, Bluesalt Fish Grill would be the one leaving it's shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot and then peeling out in it's Scion Coupe with the 3 foot spoiler. Turn the bass (re: salt and sogginess) down at least a wee bit before you peel out. Never again... Save your hard earned money.

    Giant prawns (step 1 - $13.82) + peri peri spice rub (step 2) + and Mediterranean salad (step 3 - $7.70)

BlueSalt Fish Grill (established in 2010) is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in fresh seafood dishes and this is the flagship location. There's another location in Lomita. The restaurant was empty when our party came here at 11 AM, but soon the lunch crowd began to fill up this restaurant fairly quickly at 12 PM. [Parking]: The restaurant shares the same parking space as Chicken Dijon and Al Hamra Halal. [Ordering & menu]: Many customers here are return visitors who know exactly what to order. Visitors first order at the counter, grab a number, pick an available table, and food arrives. The menu looks like an encyclopedia, but it is a three-step ordering process: (Step 1) - Choose one of 15+ seafood options. (Step 2) - Choose one of 15+ seasoning options. (Step 3) - Choose two sides OR one of eight salad options. *** Giant prawns (step 1 - $13.82) + peri peri spice rub (step 2) + and Mediterranean salad (step 3 - spinach, arugula, grilled red pepper, zucchini, broccolini, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese, olives & balsamic dressing - $7.70): Peri peri spice rub had the right spicy level and prawns were cooked well. Mediterranean salad was pretty good with a good mix of ingredients. *** I really wish the menu is simpler with some recommended pre-built options, but otherwise this is a great spot for casual business or work lunch. P.S. - There's a small self-serve salsa bar.

Mahi with herb & garlic butter, roasted Rosemary Potatoes with Garlic (Vegan) and Grilled Zucchini Ribbons (Vegan)

Went on a Wednesday around 1pm and it was surprisingly busy! However, that didn't stop the food from coming out in a very quick time! Helpful staff, good service and a great plate of food for a reasonable price! I got the grilled fish plate which comes where you pick a fish, a sauce and two sides. I got the mahi with herb & garlic butter, roasted potatoes and zucchini ribbons (an extra $1.50 for that side). They don't skimp on anything and my plate could be portioned into 2 meals! The herb & garlic butter was pretty standard, the fish was meaty and filling and the zucchini was grilled well! My favorite part was the potatoes though. There was a perfect crisp on them, which gave a nice bite. And they were well dressed with rosemary and garlic, neither being too overwhelming.

As soon as I walked in the energy was off. This bald dude was at the register (never acknowledged me) and when he saw me he told someone else to help me (I'll let you use your imagination as to why he did that) I ordered two fish (salmon and fried) taco plate with arugula salad and roasted corn. Bland. No seasoning. They never checked on me. The presentation of the plate was a mess (see pic). I was disappointed and surprised by the horrible food because they have all sorts of write up's on their walls and good reviews. Nope.

Food with Cajun seasoning butter extremely salty and I like seasoning

I've lived close by for years and I gotta say, after coming to Quality Seafood twice (once in Nov…read more '25 and in March '26), I will definitely stop taking this South Bay gem for granted. I've only had the pleasure of having the following items below, but I'll be back in the coming years to try more. - Calamari [7.7/10]: regardless of what size you order, the portion is generous. This place doesn't overdue it with the batter and lets the flavor the fresh squid shine - which I adore. Only giving this dish its rating because there are a few Italian spots in Torrance that have my heart when it comes to the best calamari. - Fish Tacos [8.5/10]: Every bite gives a nice crunch of both batter and fish. I've had unpleasant experiences where I've had pockets of crispy batter, here the fish tacos are so great it actually doesn't need much support from lemon and/or tartar sauce. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Admittedly my cup could have used a touch of salt. I would have liked a bigger portion for what I paid for, but if you're in the mood for something hot to compliment your fried seafood - this is worth getting. This is also featured on the happy hour menu for $5 - Garlic Fries [10/10]: My favorite bite from this place so far. Not on the happy hour menu, but 100% worth getting and eating with your fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Perfect amount of seasoning and that white wet sauce on top is so so so addicting. The unsung hero of my most recent visit was Jose over at Station 20. In addition to taking my order, he single handedly called out orders for everyone by the dining the area during the end of happy hour rush. A whole wave of customers came in less than 10 mins I placed my order so I can only imagine how overwhelming things were on the service side of things. For my most recent visit, most of my order came in and my garlic fries came in last. I could tell there was a mix up in the kitchen, but Jose apologized and said a new order would be ready for me in less than 5. Definitely worth the delay/wait imo. Food is great. Seating is limited. Customer service is superb. But once you fish your food, you gotta take a long walk along the pier. It's a wonderful way to rejuvenate and make sure the quality seafood digests well. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, including the happy hour drinks.

I've been coming to Quality Seafood for the past couple of years, usually on Fridays for fish…read moretacos, and I've ordered the same fish taco and shrimp taco combination 40 to 50 times. It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.

The place is just adorable with great stuff on the walls. It is clear they want you to be happy there. The prices are fair for what you get and they have a great menu. We love the service. They are so nice and they are fast. They also get you order right the first time. You will never feel ignored there. They have the best lobster rolls. Their Connecticut Style Lobster Roll is my favorite. It is warm Maine lobster poached in butter with a swipe of mayo topped with green onions and old bay. I don't care for mayo and they always remember not to put it on. Their Maine Style Lobster Roll is chilled Maine lobster and thin sliced celery tossed in lemon aioli topped with green onions and old bay. I prefer the hot one. My husband loves the chilled ones. They also have great soup and nice salads. You will like this place. You can also get take away.

DROWNING in Mayo is more like it. I tried to look past it because I was hungry, but it actually made me nauseous (butter +mayo) and there was just too much to wipe off. Completely canceled out the flavor. Hard to find a good lobster roll in this town. Was hoping this would be a win. Ah well. Maybe order this with no /lite mayo if you want a better experience. Not worth the $31 I paid to pick up through Door Dash. (Or even $25 without)

A lot of the reviews I've seen from here have been marked down due to the cost of the food - but…read morey'all... this is a beach front/pier side restaurant that is selling crab and other expensive seafood items... I feel like the cost (with the economy as it is) makes sense. It is expensive, yes, but the freshness and quality of the food is so delightful, it breaks my heart to see the ratings go down because of it. Like many people in the reviews, I grew up with this place in my childhood. I used to come with my family to dine here, and it used to be SOOO busy. Getting seated with our group back then (7+ people) used to be an ordeal, but it was worth it every time. The most recent time I had went was as a party of 4, with my family and my boyfriend. The service was so lovely and sweet, the servers made us feel welcome right away and sat us by the window so we could watch the waves and sunset as we ate. My mom ordered most of the food, so I couldn't tell you the names, but we got lots of crab and a spicy sea stew that was very delightful. It was my boyfriend's first time trying the stew and he said he would come back and bring his family to try just that on its own. There's a parking structure that's attached to the pier, so parking is very easy to find. If you go during the day time, there are other shops and bars open for you to peruse and enjoy, but by the time we had finished eating, most of the other places had closed up shop haha. I definitely recommend trying this place at least once; the food, service, and view make up for the price in my humble opinion. Though, I feel like if you'll make it a semi-regular stop once you find yourself in Redondo.

We tried a couple of new cocktails based on conversations with the bartender and thought they were very well made. Walking by this place, doesn't do justice to the welcoming vibe and comfy atmosphere inside. So glad hubby wondered in and gave us the chance to experience it. Would love to come back and try the food next time.

We sat in the partial inside section which I would highly recommend. We did make a reservation as well because we had a group of 5. THE FOOD: 10/10... EVERYTHING. We had a good variation of things including steak and eggs, breakfast burrito, berry waffles, strawberry salad, Brussels sprouts, and "make your own chilaquiles"?!?!!! I personally had the steak and eggs which had a bunch of flavor from all the ingredients they added, and a nice touch with the fresh sourdough. Not your typical bland steak and 2 eggs on the side... I also made a point to try every one else's food at my table because it looked so good. I don't give 10/10 ratings lightly, and neither does my family. Especially from my family that can be a bit critical about food. Respectfully. Server Joe was super friendly, checked on us at the perfect times, & accommodated a few requests from the kids we had with us. I'll definitely be back. Thank you to everyone who made this meal feel special.
