    Thai Scramble
    Lauretta N.

My Saturday breakfast group loves Martha's but weekends are always very crowded. We thought since it was overcast the place wouldn't be busy. WRONG assumption but luckily we got a table after 10 minutes. They were very busy but we had a server we've known for a long time. I had the vegetable omelet and one friend had the Thai scramble. Two people had the abc omelet and the other the white corn scramble. The abc omelet people said that was the most bacon they've ever seen and were very happy. Corn scramble person loved her omelet. Unfortunately the Thai scramble recipe had been changed with added cabbage which made the eggs cold. My omelet was packed with vegetables and was delicious. Service was good considering how busy it was. Still love this place.

Wonderful, quaint spot in HB! Nice patio, good views, great service. Reasonable prices and delicious food for breakfast or lunch! Had a guava mimosa and 1/2 sand (turkey), soup (chicken cilantro) special. Short walk next to beach!

Had breakfast here with my daughter on a Wednesday morning. We got there at the crack of dawn, so there was plenty of seating available both inside and outside. By the time we left at about 8:30, it was already getting pretty busy, even for a weekday morning. The interior is comfortable and cozy. Lots of good breakfast choices on their menu. We both had omelettes and we substituted toast with one of their Cinnamon Bun pancakes ... which was pure genius! I would order that again and again. The omelettes were nicely made with lots of filling. And the hash browns were properly prepared - crispy on the outside and fluffy (fully cooked) on the inside. I asked for house made salsa and they gave me two - one red and one verde. Both were excellent. That was a nice bonus. Service was friendly and helpful and our food was served to us quickly. It was a great breakfast and I will be back here again soon.

First time trying Martha's and it was great! We had mimosas and ordered the white corn scramble and stuffed French toast to share and they were both so good! Service was great and fast. I love the ambience, it's right by the beach and they have inside and outside seating. Also plenty of metered street parking!

    Chorizo Sweet Potato Hash

Dined on a Tuesday around 1:00 pm. Our server was sweet, but did not check in on us often. We had to track her down to ask for a box after paying the tab. Their menu here is pretty varied, just not a lot of options for someone who is gluten & dairy free. Ended up ordering the chorizo sweet potato hash. It was good, but nothing super special. I was not expecting the chorizo to be hard sausage chunks. I guess I imagined soft ground chorizo. All and in, the food was decent. But service was a miss unfortunately. Would return to give them another chance!

I've been coming to Martha's for a long time - mostly to entertain visitors - because as one reviewer wrote "the perfect breakfast spot". And more recently with our retired gentlemen's southbay breakfast club. We pick this spot for the convenience of our post-breakfast strand stroll. I'll give it 5 stars for the ambiance, location, and service; but only 2 stars for the food. All the times I've eaten here I've never had a meal that was "wow I gotta come back for that." It's more like "Eh...okay, gotta try something different next time." Granted it's always been breakfast... eggs and something. The place gets good reviews, a lot of guests really love it. And on a nice day it's outside is packed.

Martha's is in a great location just steps from the beach, which makes it a really nice breakfast or brunch stop. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was smooth overall. The food was decent with the steak and eggs bowl being the standout for us. Still, the atmosphere and beachside convenience make it worth visiting. arrive early if you don't want to struggle with parking because it fills up fast.

    Avocado Toast + Mimosa

decent brunch spot and conveniently located next the beach. restaurant was very busy on a sunday afternoon but we got seated outdoors within 10 mins. service was attentive and food came out fast. we ordered the: * avocado toast - not sure what i expected, but was pretty plain. * cinnamon bun pancake - pretty tasty! cinnamon flavor really stands out. my friend was full after eating this dish. * stuffed french toast - tasted good. the fruit was fresh. * mimosas - opted for this since they ran out of skinny margarita. it tasted okay, my friend couldn't finish hers. overall, i enjoyed the ambiance. good pick to try at least once.

The Baseline: For a breakfast/brunch cafe the food must be hearty/filling/satisfying for the early morning, there must be a mix of sweet and savory to fulfill that brunch/breakfast need, and service must be a welcoming start of your day experience. Food: Breakfast, brunch, and lunch is the food fare for Martha's and oh... it is delicious and satisfyingly good. My item was the Potato Frittata Skillet and is my favorite of the breakfast skillet/bowl/etc. preparations. Bacon... good... cheese...good...potatoes... good...eggs...good. Seriously it is breakfast Americana to the maximum breakfast brunch output. Also coffee. Standard drip coffee that wasn't burnt or acidic. Warm, robust and great with the table cream I was given. A solid cup of coffee and looking out at the Hermosa Beach and Pacific was an awesome way to see this new year. You also cannot go wrong with the breakfast burrito but I tend to like a beans option with Mexican food items which was not available and is the reason I passed on the Huevos Playa. The Bacon Mushroom Onion Tomato omelette was also pretty filling option as you will find with any of Martha's omelette options. The lighter side is the Kale Caesar salad which was a vibrant array of greens that paired well with grilled chicken (which was a tad on the dry side). The Tuna Melt was a good option as well but would not have been my sandwich choice, especially since there is a Montecristo on the menu. Overall there is a sizable menu that does almost everything well at Martha's. Service: We had the honor of having Emma as our waitress and she was charming, engaging, and kind. Kept all of our needs met (full water glasses) and checked on us at a due proper amount. The food came out in an efficient manner after we ordered and made for a good service experience. Ambiance: Breakfast/brunch/lunch at the beach. That is a Winner, Winner, Martha's dinner experience right there. Comfortable seating and well laid out tables with a lot of people watching opportunities. The restaurant itself is homey and well adorned to give you a seaside feel for the decor. This holds up to the beach dining experience you come here for.

Egg Benedict Hermosa with a Mimosa

This restaurant is one of my very favorites for breakfast. The view is beautiful over looking the Pacific Ocean, The waitstaff is top notch. The Eggs Benedict never disappoints. Highly recommended this especially for out of town guests.

Martha's been here for decades. Good luck if you think you can eat here on the weekend. I think what it is, is that it's half a block from the beach. I could see the sand from where I was sitting. I came during the week, in the morning. The metered parking is free before 10AM. There were plenty of tables available around 8AM. Gentleman who worked there said I could choose to sit at any empty table. Tables are close to one another. I ordered a latte with oat milk and an avocado toast. The problem with this place is that the food looks better than it tastes. There were fresh ingredients on my avocado toast, but nothing special. I don't understand why it's always so crowded when the food is average. By the way, there are fly deterrents on every table outdoors. There was a noticeable amount of flies flying around while I was eating. Service was good.

    Eggs California with Chorizo

Stopped in for my first time today and I was really impressed. Breakfast was honestly delicious and the location is hard to beat. It's located in Hermosa Beach really close to the actual beach. Parking in the area can be a bit difficult but spaces open up quite frequently, but it will definitely be metered, there aren't really any free parking spaces. We arrived around 10:30 for Sunday brunch and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated for a party of two. The wait was worth it and even though we had to sit outside, it was covered and our server was polite and attentive. They have many tables inside as well as out so there are plenty of seating options. Inside and outside were both bustling and it was really busy, but service was still pretty quick. The menu has a lot of great options, but I decided to go with the Eggs California because I am a huge Benedict fan and I added chorizo which I would highly recommend. The chorizo and avocado combination is almost unbeatable, and I honestly loved it. The coffee was also strong and overall I thought it was a fantastic breakfast. I would say it's my favorite breakfast spot in Hermosa Beach and would recommend to anyone.

Steak & Eggs Bowl & Spanish latte
    Rudolph P.

Power house protein packed breakfast, went with the steak & Eggs bowl, while the steak and eggs were delicious what really stole the show was the potatoes, they were oozing with cheese and blended in nicely with the shredded potatoes. Would definitely recommend. Spanish latte was also very delicious. Service was quick and exceptional. Outside seating was very nice and relaxing.

I'm an adult woman, almost 48, and I don't appreciate being told how I should behave in a disrespectful way. At one point, an employee even told me not to talk to other customers--even when they were the ones starting conversations with me. That felt like bullying. Thankfully, that employee is no longer there, but the overall attitude still hasn't fully improved. I've been bringing my two dogs with me for a long time without any issues. Recently, I was told I can't use the bathroom anymore--even just to quickly wash my hands before eating. I understand rules about dogs not being allowed in certain areas, and that was explained properly, but the way everything was handled felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Because of this shift in attitude, I've noticed other customers have stopped coming as well, like Alex and Trisha. Some people have even mentioned that the overall environment and customer treatment aren't as good as they used to be. It's disappointing, because this used to be a place I really liked. Now it feels like the attitude has changed, and not in a good way.

She had been here only a couple of months, but she was amazing our drinks where delicious, we got a iced creme brulee and a strawberry spritz along with food. The food was good, I recomment the show off and the melt. Jess was soo good with all customers especially my kids, i know they can be a bit much in public places but here comes Jess with coloring papers and crayons so the kids can be entertained! And we can enjoy our coffees while they arent melted! How great is that!! Jess really made this day comfortable and relaxing, we have been back 3x since then and each time she has been top notch. Im so glad that she was added to this team! Next time we are definately bringing friends!!

They had two girls one named Bella and she was so sweet along with the other young lady. 5yrs.... I've enjoyed this location. James was another great barista. There's a blonde female that has bangs that I think is an original from the last 2-3yrs (she use to have deep black hair when she first started). I haven't seen her in a bit. The new staff is super harsh or just straight rude to a lot of customers. Sometimes impatient with new customers that stand too long trying to figure out what to get. My very last issue was a staff member whipping sweat from her uncovered head as she was making my sandwich. (I'm still waiting for that drink and sandwich refund from MONTHS ago) from corporate. I sent it back they brought the same sandwich out. They have been making the drinks incorrectly (because they are always training new staff since the fall and it's almost spring). Then that staff leaves after a short stint. They keep flying through managers since Daniel T left. One left after just a few weeks without warning. If you go in the left bathroom (I'm not trying to be crude) but, there has been oxidized period bl00d for two years now. No joke. It's on the wall by their orange trashcan from a woman probably tossing their tampon from a seated position. Their tables are often dirty lately. They did recently get new seats. Coffee beans are very good but, when you can't enjoy the location anymore it over shadows everything that's good. I spend 200-300 at a time for coffee beans. I can't even walk in to get a bag without your newest male staff member being very short with you at the register. I'm not sure why. I miss the smiles. I miss the baristas that really got to know you. What happened?

Service is great, although last time I tried to go eat there, my party along with another, was turned away due to a private event (and I didn't see a private event there after walking back from "Good Stuff" restaurant down the street on the strand), which kinda bummed me out because I liked this place & haven't been back since.

It is bright and airy and perfect for a relaxed Saturday afternoon lunch. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, almost like we had been invited over to a relative's or friend's home. The menu is approachable and thoughtful, with some really delightful Greek dishes. And yes, Uncle Stavros has to be Greek, right? My wife and I shared the Greek salad and the chicken gyro. Both plates looked amazing and tasted just as good. I almost went with the beef and lamb gyro, but for lunch the chicken felt right, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The salad was full of great flavors and textures. After tasting the gyro chicken, we both agreed the salad would be even better with that same chicken added in. The real showstopper, though, was the pita. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a gyro where the pita itself stood out. It was so good that we ordered extra to take home. All around, it was a fantastic experience. I was surprised to see some of the lower Yelp reviews, but after reading them, they seemed to focus on things like an Apple Pay issue, an unfriendly waitress, or even a chair being moved. We experienced none of that. What we did experience was great food, warm hospitality, and friendly regulars who added to the neighborhood vibe. We really enjoyed Uncle Stavros Cafe and cannot wait to return. 5 stars.

When I went, service was ok. They don't deserve such a low rating. I think Uncle Bills is better, but I understand why it's way more crowded. So come for the view, just don't be prepared to get your socks blown off by the food. It's passable, come for the view. So, I have a new rating system......I will be write what I feel honestly about an establishment. The only ratings I will give are 5 stars, which is enjoyable, or 3 stars which is "needs work."

We started with a coffee and café latte, which were just okay. We wanted to order the ceviche, but it was unfortunately unavailable. Eggs Benedict with Ham: Not worth the $19 price tag. The egg wasn't very runny, and the overall flavors were nothing special. Belgian Waffle: Met expectations--a safe choice. Breakfast Pita: Essentially a breakfast burrito in pita bread form. Very solid and served with a great hot sauce. The spiced hashbrowns were also a very nice touch. Overall, the menu felt stronger on the Mexican side than the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the hot sauce ended up being the most flavorful part of our meal. If I were to return, I'd stick to one of the Mexican dishes. Parking: Metered street parking, which can be difficult to find during peak meal times.

We opted to sit outside rather than inside, and it was nice. SERVICE Best part of the brunch! We were greeted warmly by both server and manager. They offered recommendations and both checked up on us throughout our meal. FOOD Everything was 3/5 Thick cut bacon - served with jam and shishito peppers. It was indeed thick and visually appealing, however, it was soo dry I had to saw through it with a knife. Breakfast bowl - pretty basic brunch bowl, good portion of brisket. Brisket grilled cheese w/ fries - very rich and decadent, brisket was good Overall, I like how it's a mile from Hermosa pier so it's more quiet and enjoyable, yet very close to the beach. I want to come back to try their dinner at sunset!
