I would see this place pop up on my social media quite a bit especially since they plan on expanding and adding a new location..... sooooo I decided if I'm in Hermosa, let's go ahead and finally give it a go. I had a pretty solid positive outlook on them. I ordered the "French Toast Latte". I feel like it should have been called the Burnt toast latte. I genuinely took 3 sips and tossed it away in the trash can on the side walk. I tried to mix it and grabbed a straw to do so and it made it WORSE. I'm extremely disappointed that I wasted $7 on a latte. I've had bad coffees before, but this one took the cake. It tasted like milk, and the espresso tasted acidic, burnt have you. At least with other bad coffees I could stomach at least half of it but this was just really acidic. I noticed other people mentioning the coffee scene in LA isn't the same anymore and this attested to that. They started picking up foot traffic & I wasn't going to wait to ask for a remake or anything, I took the L and life moves on. I wasn't going to play Karen about it. The Lamington pastry somewhat saved the experience. This was an extremely moist, spongy, sweet cake that was delicious with coconut flakes on top. She was AMAZING. I snagged a piece off my friends and it was reeallllly good. I would recommend if you like coconut and a softer spongy cake like pastry! Talk about the underdog in this trip. The aesthetic is cute, it's clean and resembles a house. I like the scheme they have going on. The other half looks like a gift shop that I did not go into. They have a restroom available as well inside. Customer service was just customer service. Nothing amazing or bad about it. Pretty standard. I used to really enjoy the atmosphere, but over time things changed. Some employees started treating me poorly as a customer, and that didn't feel right. I'm an adult woman, almost 48, and I don't appreciate being told how I should behave in a disrespectful way. At one point, an employee even told me not to talk to other customers--even when they were the ones starting conversations with me. That felt like bullying. Thankfully, that employee is no longer there, but the overall attitude still hasn't fully improved. I've been bringing my two dogs with me for a long time without any issues. Recently, I was told I can't use the bathroom anymore--even just to quickly wash my hands before eating. I understand rules about dogs not being allowed in certain areas, and that was explained properly, but the way everything was handled felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Because of this shift in attitude, I've noticed other customers have stopped coming as well, like Alex and Trisha. Some people have even mentioned that the overall environment and customer treatment aren't as good as they used to be. It's disappointing, because this used to be a place I really liked. They were both presented amazing and the mocha had a beautiful chocolate design in it that I wasn't expecting. My mom grabbed some stuff from here while my partner and I worked remote at the hotel. She says the vibes were nice and they had decent food offering. She got me an Arnold Palmer that I enjoyed. It was the perfect mix of lemonade and tea but did get weak at the end but that's to be expected. My partner got the Mediterranean Salad which tasted pretty good. I came in for the first time and was waited on right away. They made me a chai with whole milk and it was probably the best chai that I have ever had! It wasn't very busy in there on that day and I had no problem finding a table to sit at. You have to ask for the Wi-Fi password and it is only valid for an hour. What a cute little spot!! Came here for breakfast and was so obsessed we went back every day while here! They have a lot of outdoor seating with umbrellas and shady spots so there is plenty of room for everyone. All staff is wearing masks while serving and there is hand sanitizer in multiple locations. Also their condiment station is all in little containers so they are really easy to grab! All sweeteners and hot sauces perfectly portioned out for you. The coffee... AMAZING!
