What a cute store! Gum Tree Store is such an amazing space. It always makes me feel happy and uplifted when I walk in. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service makes shopping here a pleasure. I love buying local instead of online, especially because most of their items are the same price as online and are carefully curated. You won't find any junk here, just thoughtful, high-quality items. I usually find something unique to take home for myself or to gift to someone I love. Keep doing your thing Gum Tree. You have a special place in our community! 5 stars! And next time, I'll try the cafe.
Had a brunch date with a friend and we decided to eat here. We both really liked it! We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. They also have tables inside but outside became our fave. I usually get the avocado toast and that's a 10/10 Service is always very friendly!
Stopped by Gum Tree in Hermosa Beach and really enjoyed the cozy, welcoming feel inside. It's a nice spot to sit, relax, and take a break from walking around the area. I had a coffee, which was good and hit the spot, and my friend ordered the grilled cheese with a fruit plate - simple, comforting, and nicely done. Service was good and staff friendly. One cool detail out front is a small wishing tree where you can hang tags, which adds a fun, thoughtful touch to the place. The gift shop next door was bright and festive, perfect for the holidays, and a great spot to pick up some last-minute, unique gifts you don't see everywhere. Overall, a really pleasant café and shop combo that's worth checking out.

Staff was friendly and food came out pretty quickly, however they brought the food first, then the drinks, then the cinnamon roll. Check this spot out!
Stopped by the cute, cozy & relaxing Gum Tree Café for coffee with my husband & ended up enjoying so much more. We had delicious avocado egg toast, tomato soup, great coffee & a wonderful pumpkin latte. The staff was very friendly & helpful, which made the experience even better. Next door is a charming gift shop filled with festive, unique holiday finds. Out front, there's a thoughtful wishing tree where you can write a wish on a tag & hang it on the branches...lovely touch. II'm ready to stop in again for another pumpkin latte!
Gumtree makes the best spice chai in this town! I say this as somebody who grew up making chai authentically from scratch. The barista is super sweet and friendly. Can't wait to go back! The vibe of the cafe was also very cozy and inviting. I enjoyed getting some productive work done while sipping on my creamy, oat milk chai.
Came for a coffee and instead got a turkey sandwich and the potato leak soup. I'm so glad I listened to the cashier because he did not lie about the soup. It's amazing! The sandwich was just ok, but will definitely be back for the soup. They also have seem to have good lattes, but will have to come back for that. We hadn't planned on sitting, but everyone was so friendly and the chatter of everyone enjoying their meals in the beautiful weather made us stay.
Still absolutely delicious in spite of a tiny kitchen. Has adorable patio with a surprisingly large amount of seating, and the best view in all of Hermosa Beach. Nothing has changed in all the years. This establishment has operated except the prices have gone up. But who has not experienced that?! Try the delicious lavender latte for a spring time treat!
Light and fresh Australian breakfast place. Tiny/cosy inside. Beautiful outdoor seating. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The salsa was spectacular. Serving sizes are a little on the smaller side. Coffee was good. The pastries inside included overpriced tim tams. The the person taking my order came off to me as standoffish and impatient. Luckily the rest of the service from the other people were helpful and friendly. This cafe also has a small shop with really fun goods to look at!
Went just to get a mocha but ended up getting their Homemade cinnamon roll because it looked so good! They were both presented amazing and the mocha had a beautiful chocolate design in it that I wasn't expecting. The service was quick and good and you pay up front and they'll bring everything out to you. Inside has a white clean look to everything and very inviting. Only issue is there's little parking so it can be a little tougher to get to.
I haven't had an Aussie pie in such a long time, so I was thrilled to find a café that served it (as well as Australian coffee). Ordered the chicken curry Aussie pie and a lavender latte before grabbing a seat outside on the patio overlooking the street, with a decent view of the promenade and beach from the distance. Aussie pie had a good, hearty crust, and the curry was strong and flavorful, but my god was the chicken so dry, to the point it was almost unbearable to eat. The lavender latte was cute in the mug, but there was a notable sour aftertaste which I didn't really care for. Overall, it was just okay, but the location and views made up for it!
Super cute place on Pier Ave in Hermosa Beach! Love the little free library out front. The sausage roll was delish and the mustard salad dressing was yummy. I shouldn't have got the almond milk in my latte though, because it overpowered the flavor of the syrup, so I'm interested in coming back to try it again :) read more
I would see this place pop up on my social media quite a bit especially since they plan on expanding and adding a new location..... sooooo I decided if I'm in Hermosa, let's go ahead and finally give it a go. I had a pretty solid positive outlook on them. I ordered the "French Toast Latte". I feel like it should have been called the Burnt toast latte. I genuinely took 3 sips and tossed it away in the trash can on the side walk. I tried to mix it and grabbed a straw to do so and it made it WORSE. I'm extremely disappointed that I wasted $7 on a latte. I've had bad coffees before, but this one took the cake. It tasted like milk, and the espresso tasted acidic, burnt have you. At least with other bad coffees I could stomach at least half of it but this was just really acidic. I noticed other people mentioning the coffee scene in LA isn't the same anymore and this attested to that. They started picking up foot traffic & I wasn't going to wait to ask for a remake or anything, I took the L and life moves on. I wasn't going to play Karen about it. The Lamington pastry somewhat saved the experience. This was an extremely moist, spongy, sweet cake that was delicious with coconut flakes on top. She was AMAZING. I snagged a piece off my friends and it was reeallllly good. I would recommend if you like coconut and a softer spongy cake like pastry! Talk about the underdog in this trip. The aesthetic is cute, it's clean and resembles a house. I like the scheme they have going on. The other half looks like a gift shop that I did not go into. They have a restroom available as well inside. Customer service was just customer service. Nothing amazing or bad about it. Pretty standard. We mentioned it's our first time & the girl didn't really care lol. We had questions and it was very whatever kind of vibe. No enthusiasm. Parking would be on the street so good luck! read more

I used to really enjoy the atmosphere, but over time things changed. Some employees started treating me poorly as a customer, and that didn't feel right. I'm an adult woman, almost 48, and I don't appreciate being told how I should behave in a disrespectful way. At one point, an employee even told me not to talk to other customers--even when they were the ones starting conversations with me. That felt like bullying. Thankfully, that employee is no longer there, but the overall attitude still hasn't fully improved. I've been bringing my two dogs with me for a long time without any issues. Recently, I was told I can't use the bathroom anymore--even just to quickly wash my hands before eating. I understand rules about dogs not being allowed in certain areas, and that was explained properly, but the way everything was handled felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Because of this shift in attitude, I've noticed other customers have stopped coming as well, like Alex and Trisha. Some people have even mentioned that the overall environment and customer treatment aren't as good as they used to be. It's disappointing, because this used to be a place I really liked. Now it feels like the attitude has changed, and not in a good way. read more

Food here is p bougie. Like I got a Brie cheese and peach jam sandwich. That was pretty good even tho cheese and jam wouldn't seem good together. The scone was dry bc scones are dry but the flavor was also good. The bacon egg and mushroom sandwich was probably the least fav. There was too much bread so that was dry when some sauce could be added to be bussin. The price was very expensive but ig that's bc we are like 10 min walk to the beach so it's a nice vibe. I guess u would go for the experience and nice atmosphere bc beach. But they had a screen that went behind a the fence probably to protect people from falling but the screen was pretty dirty. read more
Following on our recent delightful visit to the shop, a girl friend and I tried Gum Tree Cafe for lunch. The cafe is as cute as the shop, and the food is great! I enjoyed lunch so much that I've already brought another friend back for lunch ag AMBIENCE (5/5) The outdoor patio is adorable, fairly spacious, and perfect for a casual meal. You order at the counter inside the cafe, find a table outside, and your meal is brought outside to you. FOOD (4/5) I'm a big fan of Aussie meat pies, At the cashier's recommendation, I opted for the Thai chicken curry pie. The pie was savory with chicken, coconut milk, onions, and vegetables and came with a refreshing salad. A perfect lunch portion! SERVICE (4/5) The team was friendly and polite! read more

Walked past Gum Tree a few times and decided to give it a try. Lattes were delicious. Highly recommend. They have Oat, Hemp, Almond and soy milk alternatives. Food was okay. I got the avocado toast which was a great portion size. Kids menu was very limited for breakfast so that was kind of a bummer. Banana bread was dry, dense and flavorless. Overall I feel like there are better alternatives for breakfast options. read more

I came in for the first time and was waited on right away. They made me a chai with whole milk and it was probably the best chai that I have ever had! It wasn't very busy in there on that day and I had no problem finding a table to sit at. You have to ask for the Wi-Fi password and it is only valid for an hour. This is a cute restaurant. It looks and feels like you are eating at a friend's backyard patio area. It's nice eating here. I ordered the avocado toast, along with a latte. The avocado toast is a lot of food. Very filling. I got the chili flakes, which made it a little too hot (spicy). Service: Friendly. We had an espresso ($3 ish) and a Cappuccino ($4 ish). The taste was good - not excellent but above average for America. The staff was nice. Overall? Good coffee. Nice environment. What a cute little spot!! Came here for breakfast and was so obsessed we went back every day while here! They have a lot of outdoor seating with umbrellas and shady spots so there is plenty of room for everyone. All staff is wearing masks while serving and there is hand sanitizer in multiple locations. Also their condiment station is all in little containers so they are really easy to grab! All sweeteners and hot sauces perfectly portioned out for you. The coffee... AMAZING! Huge coffee snob and the flavor was on point. Love how they also have non-dairy options too like oatmilk and almond milk for your coffee. Tried a few different items from their menu and each item was fabulous! They rotate their daily specials and our favorite one is the avocado toast with bacon, goat cheese, and a honey drizzle over top! Blew my mind lol. The egg and cheese croissant was also a banger.
