Atmosphere! Flavorful meals! Just a reminder why we can't live away from the ocean, a lovely day complemented by good service and tasty food. I neglected to snap an image of the braised short rib tacos, super tasty but the main event was the beyond belief perfect nachos!

We had been coming here almost every other week. My son and my brother love their burger! My boyfriend and I usually would get the steak and eggs and the pasta 3 times the steak did not taste good. It had a weird taste. I did let them know and I don't think they even cared. I'm sure they must be getting their meat from a different source, IDK but it's just not the same meat it was before!! Also, one of the last times we came in I got avocado toast instead and this thing was tiny. I had gotten their avocado toast before and it wasn't the same bread either!! And still had the audacity to charge full price when it literally took 3 small bites to finish it. Not planning on coming back, there are many other great restaurants around!

Cup home made tomato soup (to DIE for)

Third time passing by this joint, we decided to check in. We were seated right away, our server was so kind, helpful and attentive. Teresa checked on us very often to see how we were enjoying the food. We had their "fish and chips;" "braised short rib tacos;" "seared ahi salad;" and their to die for "Cup home made tomato soup" No I didnt want to die yet coz it was soo delicious. Creamy thick not salty or too sweet but just right to make you slap whoever is in front of you. It came with toasted cheese bread which made the dish more interesting. My son ended up ordering his own. We were planning to talk about my sons hobby of painting but instead we talked, complimented and spoke highly about their soup. There's plenty of tables, next to the window, deeper inside and outside patio in the back. Good for groups and a nice place to impress for a date or just to hang. Service is quick, place is clean, no weird smells, spacious, clean restrooms, and parking will be challenging, lol! Yes I highly recommend this place and don't forget to try their tomato soup. Yes were coming back with a bigger group for the soup.

    Steak Sandwich and House Fries

Stopped at this restaurant because Redwood Pie was over an hour wait. Got some guac and chips and meatballs to start. The guac lacked flavor, didn't have that tang and flavor that you would get from a Mexican place. The meatballs were decent, nothing to ride home about, feel like there could have been more spices added to it. The steak sandwich was the above average part of everything, steak was tender and they had some tomato and sauce in it to make this a solid sandwich. The house fries were pretty bad, it's like they tried something different and it's just not good. The fries are hard as a rock when you bite into them, it's like eating a chip. The flavor wasn't bad but let's just stick to regular fries please. Paid a hefty bill for all this, will not be coming back personally. Guac and Chips: 6.1 Meatballs: 6.9 Steak Sandwich: 8.0 House Fries: 6.1

Came here on a Sunday at brunch time and got a table outside. We made a reservation in advance. The spot was great and perfect for people watching. Felt upscale and relaxed. I tried the Caesar salad with chicken. And the truffle fries were delicious. Great ambience, food and service. Parking is challenging especially on a Sunday. We found street parking a block down.

We came for the $2 burgers and were sold. The service was great, the food delicious and the ambiance was like sitting in your living room. I forgot to take a picture of the truffle machine and cheese that was to die for. They were so good we forgot to take a picture. We will definitely come back for brunch.

I went in on this past Sunday (August 4th) in the early afternoon... after wondering the streets looking for parking. Helpful hint: they have limited parking in the rear. I didn't know this before I arrived so I parked on the street down by the Post Office. Kelly was my server I sat at the Bar and watched the Olympics. I had the Chilaquiles but that was only because I had the Eggs Benedict the day before at another restaurant. Chilaquiles had a great spicy flavor (not to much but enough) I asked for my eggs over easy and they came as I wished for. I had a side of the deep fried grits, it is the vessel the Eggs Benedict is served on, they didn't have a lot of flavor and I couldn't taste the cheese in them so I dropped it into my Chilaquiles bowl LMAO!! The Guava mimosa was refreshing. Kelly cared for me nicely as I sat at the bar by myself I watched as she made small talk with me and took care of other guests needs and kept on top of the servers orders. Atmosphere in here is so nice and relaxing I would definitely recommend a return... it was a overcast 73 degree day - which after coming from the IE (107 + degrees) it was welcomed. I've always passed by this place when heading down to the pier, however, never ate here thinking it was a basic food restaurant. To my surprise it was a cool place to have brunch! There's plenty of beers and cocktails to choose from plus the bottomless mimosas are a nice treat on the weekends. I tried the Chicken and Avocado Burrito Wet from their brunch menu. So delicious! Definitely try it wet as it adds so much flavor. The Healthy Steak Salad was excellent as well. Full of flavor and the hangar steak slices were so tender! The Truffle and Parmesan French Fries were good to share or pairs well with their Burger of the Day. The place feels nice and airy with the back door open and the front open to the sidewalk. It's a rustic modern home feel with TVs to watch sports. I like the idea of being able to sit in different areas (backyard, main dining area, smaller quieter back room, outside front patio or next to the fireplace). It definitely accommodates different types of gatherings. I thought it was a cool space for kids with the free video game when adult conversations aren't as enjoyable. The staff checked on us frequently and made the day more enjoyable with their friendly demeanor. This place has a cool vibe with tasty food. I'll have to come back during dinner or to try out their $2 Tuesday burgers.

We loved the atmosphere and location, very chill with just enough upscale vibe to keep it authentic. The menu options were creative and amazing! The mango mojito was interesting, not much mango flavor, but tasty nevertheless. The burger was perfection as was the fired zucchini, I especially liked that they were real thick cuts not the thinner too-fried crummy soggy versions I have seen many times before. The fried chicken sandwich was well prepared and tasty as well. There are numerous good choices here! The service was just average though, as our nice server forgot to follow up on a couple of things and apparently went on a long break without getting someone to fill in so there was no one to help for over 25 minutes. All in, it was a good experience overall, the staff was friendly and helpful when asked, my only other comment/critique is that the portions were on the smaller side for the price points, at least include a small side dish option with the sandwiches, just saying!

Service was good but my chicken and waffles were mid. The boneless chicken breast cutlets were a little dry and lacked flavor. Also, I would have preferred a whole piece of fried chicken and a better presentation of the food. I wouldn't order it again.

Came here for happy hour on an early weekday so it wasn't busy. Practically had the place to ourselves so the service was great and very attentive. It was a really good space. They had a a pretty decent happy hour menu with a variety of offerings, small tapa sizes. The mexican street tacos and the truffle mac and cheese were a couple of my favorites. The drinks were pretty good as well. Really enjoyed the strawberry yuzu spritzer.

What a beautiful establishment in Hermosa Beach, it's clean and the ambiance is phenomenal. Customer Service is exceptional. Love the Bar Area, outdoor seating available in front and back. We came in after lunch hour rush on a Monday, it was great. Fried Chicken Sandwich is marvelous. Tomato Soup is very tasteful. Kelly H. Our Server is so accommodating and kind.

We got sat pretty quickly as this place was busyyyy. busyyy worker bees. Everyone was wanting to get a seat at Martha's! I only waited about 20 minutes if that. Not too shabbyyyy ! I started with an iced Spanish latte as I love my Spanish lattes. This is where everything started going downhill. First sip, questionable. Second sip, even more questionable. Mix the coffee with the straw for a minute, another sip, even worse. It tasted like I was drinking the water from a burnt coffee bean with a hint of cinnamon. It was NOT good. I was very sad. I ended up ordering an iced chai latte as a secondary choice.. because how hard is it to mess up a chai? WELP. It was managed to be messed up as well. How?! Martha girl, who was making the drinks this day, cause nuh uh, more training now. The iced chai latte was watery. It did not resemble a chai at all, even the color was weird. I took 2 sips and never finished either drink. I had my counterpart try it-- mind you, I took a sip and gave no reaction to not bias my counterpart. Once they tried it, they were just as astonished to how horrible both drinks were. They ordered the banana bread latte. oh my-lanta. Artificial, sweet, sour banana flavor, he had it switched out for a blended pump shake that was much better-- REALLY sweet, but they loved it. For the breakfast option, I ended up ordering the huevos playa. The hashbrowns were cooked evenly and tender. The sauce/salsa it was sitting in. not it. you're not that guy pal. tasted like pace salsa from a jar or something. that weird salsa taste that makes you aware that it is not home made. I did not like it whatsoever. The sour cream, guac and eggs were the only thing I enjoyed out of this dish. I would not order this again. The cinnamon pancake was the only thing that saved the experience, but even then, $17 for a singular pancake is absolutely insane. Overall, I was extremely, and I mean extremely, disappointed. I wish it lived up to all the social media hype that is around, but my taste buds were extremely unhappy leaving. Service was great, the lady removed the banana bread latte off our bill for not liking it, but I stayed with my 2 awful drinks. I ended up going to a coffee shop to fill my Spanish latte cravings after leaving. Parking is on the street, metered. fills up FAST.

And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

We ordered the filet fajitas, mole blanco chicken enchiladas (must try!!), and fried ice cream for dessert everything was absolutely delicious. One thing we really appreciated was that Peter kindly split the enchiladas onto two plates for us without us even having to ask! It was such a thoughtful touch and made the meal feel even more special. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend asking for Peter if you visit!

Palmilla Cocina is definitely up there as one of the best Mexican restaurants I've dined at (says a…read morelot as from I'm LA) especially just upon stumbling. From the hand shaken fresh margaritas, I got the pineapple Serrano cilantro, to the complimentary fresh tortilla with honey butter and salsas, + the ocean breeze from the Pier, it's hard to complain. To share my table of 2 ordered the: * La asada con salsa (cooked medium) - comes with a side - we chose the corn - and rice and beans 10/10. I could drink the chimichurri sauce it came with and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection * mole blanco enchiladas - chicken Machacha, queso, chipotle pepitas, arroz de tomatillo and frijoles Nevro . 9.5/10 and I fear I will never want to have mole any other way. I also got a complimentary dessert of choice for my birthday. I opted for the fried ice cream (horchata flavored) which was divine and the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The ambiance is lively, I recommend to sit outdoors as several other restaurants have live music and great to people watch. Huge compliments to the chef and to our incredible waiter, Peter, who was attentive and provided the best recommendations. Would definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

We ate half of our meals that day and finished the leftovers on the 23rd. On Christmas Eve morning, I woke up violently ill. I spent the next several days isolated in a bedroom, unable to keep anything down, constantly vomiting, and dealing with severe gastrointestinal symptoms. It was the sickest I have ever felt in my life with severe nausea. At the same time, my 3‑year‑old daughter suddenly spiked a 103.5° fever and developed diarrhea. My husband had to rush her to urgent care, and from there she was sent to the ER so she could receive fluids. Watching my child go through that was terrifying. After a week of not improving, I went to urgent care and tested positive for Salmonella poisoning. My daughter also tested positive while she was hospitalized. We are both still dealing with symptoms. I am going on a second strong course of antibiotics today. After my test result was reported, the LA County Department of Public Health contacted me. They told me that another woman in Redondo Beach, who had eaten the same salad on 12/22, also tested positive for Salmonella and had been hospitalized for several days. I later spoke with her and her family, and hearing her story was heartbreaking. LA County has opened an investigation, and I am cooperating fully. I'm sharing what happened to us in hopes that it helps others stay aware and safe.
