Prime rib special
Joann C.

What a cute and cozy restaurant. We were able to take advantage of their 3 course prime rib special (available on Sundays until they are sold out). Staff were friendly and helpful, and the upstairs patio was so comfortable. Literally less than a block from the beach and plenty of parking. If ever in the area, will be back to dine here!

Best spot in the South Bay to get bottomless mimosas. Great service and an equally friendly opportunity owner, I'd add to your list and most definitely get your reservations in. All the food was great and we sampled a variety. Recommend the Open Faced Omelet and the Chilaquiles!

We were the first people in on a rainy Sunday Morning. Tatum was our server, very warm and welcoming. It's a cute small space, tastefully and comfortably decorated. We started with the cinnamon roll which was fluffy warm and sweet, calamari was savory and crispy. Both 10-10..... that that I want to eat calamari and cinnamon rolls together...but when at Slay.... SLAY. I had the lobster Benedict and it was scrumptious. The side salad was actually one of my favorite parts, crazy good dressing. I had a bite of everyone else's dish. The Steak Sandwich- so savory and the fries were perfectly fried The brioche fresh toast literally melted in your mouth like butter. The bowl was harmonious flavors of all the yummy breakfast things. My coffee was so strong, I just had one cup. They served birthday ice cream at then which we all shared. My mother in law had a great birthday brunch.

I'm always looking for someplace new to have brunch. This restaurant is usually open at night, but open for brunch on the weekends. They have a small outdoor patio dining area. This is where I chose to dine because when I went inside to be seated, the place looked really small and crowded. I could barely even open the door to step in. I liked the table I was seated at outdoors, but the strangest occurrence was when the cook or one of the cooks walked in late to work, past my table. I'm glad I wasn't seated at the first table. Otherwise, everyone seated outdoors would be passing my table. Needless to say, unusual restaurant layout. My food and drink weren't bad. I can imagine how crowded and busy this place gets in the evening. Parking: Metered, street parking.

The Baseline: For a sit down upper-scale restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and ambiance of the overall dining experience. Food: There was not a single dish that we had at Slay Hermosa that wasn't great. Appetizers were the Fried Calamari and Watermelon Salad and wow to the salad. The Watermelon salad had an incredible white vinaigrette and tajin spice. Get this salad! The Double Smash burger was a solid burger. The entree star was the Pork Chop that was cooked perfectly and the bed of sweet corn risotto made it wonderful. For the finish was the Butter Cake that was warm and dense like I love it. Mixed with the ice cream with berry drizzle and my Cafe au Lait it was a perfect ender to the meal. Service: Fantastic top notch service that covered us for our visit. We were always asked at the right time if we needed anything. Also we got the best suggestions from our waiter. Ambiance: Hermosa Beach on a rooftop dining area right at sunset... perfect time to dine and all will be fine. Great setting for a great meal. Didn't use the restroom but it was getting cleaned when I left. The dining area was clean and the restaurant while compartmentalized is very serviceable.

Love the interior and atmosphere of this place! We came here for my birthday on a Sunday and luckily found parking near by. The food here was delicious, especially the lobster benedict, cinnamon roll, and the calamari!! Can't wait to come back to try their prime rib dinner!!

We celebrated a birthday with brunch at Slay Hermosa today. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt welcomed and were treated like valued guests. We were seated upstairs on their covered rooftop. Our group ordered several appetizers to share and individual dishes. My husband enjoyed his lobster Benedict, which had a generous amount of lobster. I wish I had ordered that after seeing it. Their pancake that we ordered was huge and delicious. I ordered the vegan kale and mushroom ravioli. It was good, but I'd try something else the next time. Our server was attentive and was quick to exchange plates and utensils as we needed them. Metered street parking was easy to find on a Sunday morning and a walk on the beach was just minutes away. I'm looking forward to returning for dinner in the near future.

So amazing! One of our family favorites!! I love the seating and atmosphere. The sole is some of the best fish I have ever tasted. Which is saying a lot because I would count myself a fish connoisseur. The people are always so nice and the restaurant is never overly crowded, but is always filled with friendly people. The roof top seating is very pretty with an amazing sunlit ocean view. All the slays are amazing but slay Hermosa is special.

Great experience. Fantastic service and amazing tasting food. Our whole table was making "yum" noises when trying our dishes. Four of us went in for Sunday Brunch and ordered from the breakfast/lunch menu. We ordered the Calamari, Vermont Maple Cinnamon Roll, Breakfast Bowl, Lobster Benedict, Broiche French Toast and Slay Steak Sandwich. The food did not disappoint. The front of house staff were great and provided excellent service. Checked on us on a regular basis; Cleared plates when we done; Made sure our drinks were filled. It was a great dining experience. The interior eating area we were at was smaller than I expected but it was very nicely decorated. Very chill but fancy vibe, perfect for Hermosa. They was an upstairs eating area that I didn't check out. The restrooms were very clean and nicely decorated.

We sat on their rooftop. It was a beautiful and sunny day but their roof deck was fully covered unfortunately. It would have been nice to let some sunlight in. The food was good. The burrata is served on top of a portobello mushroom, I had never tried this combination before but it works really well. Their omelettes were pretty good too. I really wanted to try the breakfast bowl but they ran out unfortunately. I'll have to come back and give it a try

Amazing experience tonight on the uppermost level of seating. Beautifully set up with several slivers of an ocean view. Tatum went above and beyond answering all of our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. Ordered the absolutely delicious Grilled Peaches and Burrata...with pistachios, a hint of mint and a delectable honey drizzle. This dish was so good and exemplified summer on so many levels!! We also ordered a side of the very fragrant corn risotto which was elevated with fresh herbs. My friend ordered the scallops which she said were some of the best she'd had. We got an order of the Parker House rolls which we truly didn't need but were delicious nonetheless. Overall this was a relaxing and memorable meal! So glad we had a chance to stop in! Thanks Tatum for your patience and the great service!

Thick Cut Bacon

We chose Slay Hermosa for our Galentine's Brunch and it was absolutely amazing. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can sip unlimited mimosas for $25 (with a two-hour limit), and you get the whole bottle at the table. We chose orange and guava juice to mix with. We started with the thick-cut bacon appetizer, and it was delicious. The thick cut, fatty bacon paired with sweet strawberry jam and fried shishito peppers was a unique combination. For my entree, I went with the brisket grilled cheese, loaded with havarti, yellow cheddar, and that same delicious strawberry jam. While the brisket could have used a bit more seasoning, there was a great amount of cheese, and the flavors still worked well together. The fries were crispy, golden perfection with just the right amount of salt. The service was excellent. The staff was beyond accommodating, giving us an extra table just for our Galentine's gifts, taking photos for us, and making sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Slay Hermosa is right across from the beautiful Hermosa Beach. After brunch, we took a stroll to enjoy the ocean views--a perfect ending to a great brunch experience. I'll definitely be back!

Breakfast Bowl, breakfast burrito

Relaxed brunch spot, not busy on a saturday morning when all the other spots nearby are packed. Food is average so I would've given it 3/5 but the service makes up for the lost stars! Not bad but definitely underseasoned, needed lots of salsa to compensate. Staff is very friendly and attentive though!

Oh Martha. We gotta have a talk girl. What is going on?…read more I stopped by on a Sunday about 11:30ish for a party of 2. We got sat pretty quickly as this place was busyyyy. busyyy worker bees. Everyone was wanting to get a seat at Martha's! I only waited about 20 minutes if that. Not too shabbyyyy ! I started with an iced Spanish latte as I love my Spanish lattes. This is where everything started going downhill. First sip, questionable. Second sip, even more questionable. Mix the coffee with the straw for a minute, another sip, even worse. It tasted like I was drinking the water from a burnt coffee bean with a hint of cinnamon. It was NOT good. I was very sad. I ended up ordering an iced chai latte as a secondary choice.. because how hard is it to mess up a chai? WELP. It was managed to be messed up as well. How?! Martha girl, who was making the drinks this day, cause nuh uh, more training now. The iced chai latte was watery. It did not resemble a chai at all, even the color was weird. I took 2 sips and never finished either drink. I had my counterpart try it-- mind you, I took a sip and gave no reaction to not bias my counterpart. Once they tried it, they were just as astonished to how horrible both drinks were. They ordered the banana bread latte. oh my-lanta. Artificial, sweet, sour banana flavor, he had it switched out for a blended pump shake that was much better-- REALLY sweet, but they loved it. For the breakfast option, I ended up ordering the huevos playa. The hashbrowns were cooked evenly and tender. The sauce/salsa it was sitting in. not it. you're not that guy pal. tasted like pace salsa from a jar or something. that weird salsa taste that makes you aware that it is not home made. I did not like it whatsoever. The sour cream, guac and eggs were the only thing I enjoyed out of this dish. I would not order this again. The cinnamon pancake was the only thing that saved the experience, but even then, $17 for a singular pancake is absolutely insane. Overall, I was extremely, and I mean extremely, disappointed. I wish it lived up to all the social media hype that is around, but my taste buds were extremely unhappy leaving. Service was great, the lady removed the banana bread latte off our bill for not liking it, but I stayed with my 2 awful drinks. I ended up going to a coffee shop to fill my Spanish latte cravings after leaving. Parking is on the street, metered. fills up FAST.

For lunch I ended up doing the 3 for $21 deal which is exactly that, a fantastic deal. I ended up choosing the House Fries, the Tempura Fish Tacos, and the 1/2 Grilled Cheese Sandwich. How was it? House Fries- Covered in Grana Padano and Mustard Aioli, these French Fries were super crispy and tasted really, really good. Tempura Fish Tacos- Two tacos that I wish I could transform into 20. The Tempura fish here was absolutely delicious. 1/2 Grilled Cheese Sandwich- A few different cheeses between some sourdough, a simple but fantastic grilled cheese sandwich. Between really great service and really great food, this place is a definite must if you find yourself in the Hermosa Beach area.

And Hubbers suggested this place for a late-ish lunch because he's been here before and had a positive experience. Outdoor seating only since we had the furballs. We had our choice of where since we were the only customers on a late lunch hour. Servers were so patient with our pups (even when they were moody - my apologies!) and were even nice enough to bring them water bowls! It was a cool and cloudy day, but that didn't damper anything. In fact, we appreciated it coming off the heat wave from the last couple of weeks! Everything on their menu looked so good, it took me awhile to decide. But Hubbers and I agreed on the Kayak Tide Tray (+4 extra oysters) and the charred watermelon salad. In the meanwhile, I battled between lobster pasta and five dragon pastrami. (The pasta won out.) Hubbers went for the cedar planked Ora king salmon. And a couple of cocktails to wash it all down! KAYAK TIDE TRAY: The seasoned scallops were my favorites, hands down. The sauce was fantastic and didn't overpower the scallops' main essence. The oysters were shucked fresh and the sauces elevated the flavors a bit. Shrimps were chilled tender and had a nice chew. Cocktail sauce added flavor. The mussels? Sad to say, but half of them were served still frozen hard. So we took our time with it and let it thaw out which didn't happen until we were halfway our meal. Overall: excellent. CHARRED WATERMELON: This plate was so well put together! And not only is it pleasing to the eyes (nice touch with the micros!), it was the same with the palate. Watermelon was fresh. Charred only on one side (I'm curious what it would be like if they charred ALL the sides - will make this request - only if possible - next time!) Taking bites from each component of this salad makes all the difference: the acidity of the tomatoes are tempered by the burrata and the cucumbers, and the freshness of the watermelon makes it all refreshing. The onions added a bit of tart, as did the pomegranates. Didn't notice any macadamia nuts, but no matter! This is a must have! LOBSTER PASTA: Didn't happen... see below. LOBSTER ROLL: Served along with Hubbers' salmon plate (more on that later.) We had a different server at this point (our first one told us he was going on his break.) I thought Hubbers put in an order of this too, so I moved the plate to his side. Our server noticed this and said, "Are you sharing? Would you like an extra plate?" Hubbers confirmed he didn't other this. And that neither did I, but we are waiting on the lobster pasta. He then explained they are out of that dish, "was this not related to you?" Long story short, I told him I'd take the roll, no biggie. He offered to comp it, and if I like, I can put in another order. So I went for the pastrami. And as we waited for that, Hubbers and I split this and WOW. Bread was toasted and buttered perfect, generous with the amount of lobster, plating was a delight to the eyes, and overall delicious. I appreciated the aroma of the tarragon. Yum! FIVE DRAGON PASTRAMI: This is a generous serving, plenty to share with another. Lots of flavors with each bite but the well-seasoned and flavored pastrami dominates them all. The slaw was strong but the subtleness of the lappi balanced it out. Sourdough was perfectly toasted. I thought about not ordering this since I knew the lobster roll might have been enough, but I'm sure glad I went for it! Delish! Hubbers let me have a couple of bites off his salmon plate and O.M.G.!!! He sure picked a good one! Skin was seasoned crispy and the fish was so moist! This is probably one of the best versions of salmon I've had. (For the record, I rarely order anything salmon since 90-95% of the time, they're served dry, but this one here, I'd highly recommend.) FOOD: 4.75. SERVICE: 5. They were AMAZING!!! VALUE: 4. Given the location, pricing is understandable. But worth it. PARKING: Street/Structure only. All metered. And getting here will require a bit of a walk depending on where you parked. OVERALL: 4.5. Plans on coming back here with more people is now in the works. Looking forward to doing that soon!

It was the sickest I have ever felt in my life with severe nausea. At the same time, my 3‑year‑old daughter suddenly spiked a 103.5° fever and developed diarrhea. My husband had to rush her to urgent care, and from there she was sent to the ER so she could receive fluids. Watching my child go through that was terrifying. After a week of not improving, I went to urgent care and tested positive for Salmonella poisoning. My daughter also tested positive while she was hospitalized. We are both still dealing with symptoms. I am going on a second strong course of antibiotics today. After my test result was reported, the LA County Department of Public Health contacted me. They told me that another woman in Redondo Beach, who had eaten the same salad on 12/22, also tested positive for Salmonella and had been hospitalized for several days.
