My family ate at Rabano's on 12/21/25. I ordered the Southwestern Chicken Salad, and my 3‑year‑old daughter had the Little Bamba. We ate half of our meals that day and finished the leftovers on the 23rd. On Christmas Eve morning, I woke up violently ill. I spent the next several days isolated in a bedroom, unable to keep anything down, constantly vomiting, and dealing with severe gastrointestinal symptoms. It was the sickest I have ever felt in my life with severe nausea. At the same time, my 3‑year‑old daughter suddenly spiked a 103.5° fever and developed diarrhea. My husband had to rush her to urgent care, and from there she was sent to the ER so she could receive fluids. Watching my child go through that was terrifying. After a week of not improving, I went to urgent care and tested positive for Salmonella poisoning. My daughter also tested positive while she was hospitalized. We are both still dealing with symptoms. I am going on a second strong course of antibiotics today. After my test result was reported, the LA County Department of Public Health contacted me. They told me that another woman in Redondo Beach, who had eaten the same salad on 12/22, also tested positive for Salmonella and had been hospitalized for several days. I later spoke with her and her family, and hearing her story was heartbreaking. LA County has opened an investigation, and I am cooperating fully. I'm sharing what happened to us in hopes that it helps others stay aware and safe. read more

Their dressing is just so tangy and full of flavor, emphasizing the mix of fresh greens and generous amount of chicken. It probably won't blow you away as the most amazing salad you've ever eaten but it was fresh and the dressing had a wonderful flavor to it. There was a lot of goat cheese in mine but I liked it! The chickpeas and tomatoes were a great addition as well. And I was surprised I got full from just this salad. Why change /lower the other beef descriptions to "certified angus" if it's actually grass fed (which is considered healthier and higher quality)? ‼URGENT PLEASE READ BEFORE EATING HERE‼ I'm a college student home on break, and this restaurant completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing and much-needed time off. On Saturday, 12/20, I ate the Southwestern Chicken Salad from this restaurant. On 12/23, I began experiencing a fever and severe body aches, which I initially assumed were the flu. By 12/25, my symptoms had worsened significantly, and I was in extreme pain and unable to keep down even a sip of water. I was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Salmonella. The doctors were very concerned about the severity of my condition, especially given that I am a healthy teenage girl with no underlying health issues. I was hospitalized for five days where I lost an immense amount of weight. More than two weeks later, I am still recovering and have not fully returned to normal. I am confident the salad was the source of the illness, as it was the only item I ate that no one else in my family did. Additionally, another woman and her daughter contracted the same illness after eating the same salad just one day after I did. After sharing my experience on Nextdoor, I also learned that many others have reported poor experiences at this restaurant, often related to overlooked food safety and preparation practices. Rabano is a solid spot that serves up some really delicious fusion of cuisine that's hard to get elsewhere. We're a huge fan of the El Koreano bowls and the Saltados. The flavors are great and it's almost the standard for us. The option to change the base from white rice to ancient grain is also a nice touch as well! My sister loves the Pork Belly Knockout but some reason it's just not for me. A bit too sweet for my taste! Another item that I've been getting recently are their burritos, especially the California. Nothing will ever come close to San Diego's California burritos but Rabano has a solid one! Edamame wontons, sounds weird but it works. Sweet potato fries are a good option as well, but not a fan of either of their other fries. I also really like their Jasmine Milk Tea. I get it at 25% sugar with half & half (there's other milk options), and it is a solid solid milk tea. Dining in can be really hectic since the space is not that big. Love the showtime burger here. This is a go to take out staple in our household. I get it with a turkey patty. But the rest of the family gets the grass fed beef. But either way it tastes pretty clean for a burger but still juicy and delicious. French fries are good and can be eaten even if they are not hot. The soups and bowls are great from here too. It should have still come with mustard, IIRC. I had to wait 20 minutes longer for my food than my friends, and when I opened it up, it was cold and soggy. Worst of all, they had put tofu AND HAM on my sandwich and nothing else except onions. I discarded the half of the sandwich that had ham, and tried to eat the other half. It was the soggiest, most disgusting sandwich I have ever eaten. It was completely lacking in anything remotely resembling flavor.
