I can summarize it all by saying that, if I were to buy/build a coffee shop, it might be this one. It's casual and inviting with delicious menu offerings, generous servings, fresh baked goods and delicious coffee. The service is timely and friendly. And there are 5 different sitting areas (booth, bench, bar, bistro and patio), good background music and they offer beer/wine for day-drinkers. Today I had the pleasure of my Saturday morning treat after my walk at Bolt in Hermosa Beach. The avocado toast is simply divine it's filling, and fresh, and the eggs are made just right. They make the most amazing drinks I had a decaf sugar-free iced vanilla latte and it was awesome and my daughter had an iced Matcha which was fabulous as well. The young lady that is there at 8 AM on Saturday mornings is always super sweet. Staff is always kind pleasant, and welcoming! The pastries look so divine it is a must try you need to stop in and say hello to the staff and get some nice pastries and coffee. read more

Some items are worth the money but their avocado toast is a rip-off. I have never had such a sad avocado toast for that much money. Also, $6 for the tiniest matcha I have ever received? And, it was super strong. My fault for choosing the wrong things, Other dishes looked amazing. If I come back, I will try something else. Also, experienced a salty bartender. I couldn't find them so I went and ordered in the other room. When they were handing me my beer, they apologized for not hearing me yelling for them. What? i never did that. I walked in and took at look at the menu and immediately felt a bit rushed by the patrons behind me so I let them order first. I was standing there, alone after the other people ordered, for quite some time and the woman at the counter takes off into the kitchen without a word. She didn't say, " any questions about the menu? Or, "I'll be right back to take your order". She awkwardly made eye contact popped into the kitchen for several minutes then came back to take my order. She returns to take my order and I wait. There are several areas to sit and relax, one immediately when you walk in and then 2 others as you walk back. It's a chill spot but I didn't immediately feel the warm and fuzzies. The ice coffee was good but it was the breakfast sandwich that makes up for the awkward interaction at the counter. I was excited to try a new brunch spot in HB, but it definitely has room for improvement. We sampled their brunch (see the picture below) -- I ordered the huevos rancheros, while my partner got the eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, my huevos rancheros were quite bland and lacked some key ingredients. I've tried this dish at various brunch places, and this is the first time I didn't finish my food. It's frustrating to waste food! That said, this place is new in town and has a trendy vibe, so I'll definitely visit again. Came across this spot as I was walking to my car from Proudly Serving and I couldn't resist checking it out! The inside had a very modern feel and had hella outdoor seating to enjoy the beach views. I was super full from lunch, but just had to try out some of their pastries! The staff there was super helpful in suggesting some options and i decided on the rocky road cookie. Not too sweet and had amazing flavor! I also had this 7 layer dessert that was pretty damn good too lol. I will definitely be back to try more! read more

It's unfortunate, because we found this place over the summer and fell in love with the breakfasts and the cookies, we were going back almost weekly... But since then thimgs have gone downhill. Unfortunately, the last time we went in, might be the last. We came in and she was helping someone else but didn't even acknowledge us I til after she was completely done with making their order. All the while we stared at fly after fly crawl over the last 2 rows of cookie and kept crying when it walked onto one that we wanted. When she finally realized we existed, we told her about the fly (that was still there) and she did nothing. Pointed out the cookies that the fly was on and she looked at them, did nothing, and said oh sorry. And then left them there. We ordered our food, she not only forgot my extra order of extra crispy bacon, the bacon we did get was all undercooked and the food was under seasoned. We chose Bolt based on rave reviews for the breakfast sandwich and it was on-point delicious. The service however leaves a little to be desired. Our group of 5 chose a quiet area in the back since there were only 4 tops everywhere else and were enjoying our meals. Slowly, a big group rolls into that area after about 40 mins into our meal. Surprisingly, a server carrying a large tray of burritos sat it down on our table. One of our group asked if he'd like us to move and he said "Yes, that'd be great." No offer to move us to another table (we were nowhere near being done with our coffee), no nicely asking us to quickly finish. So up we went and won't be going back. The cashier informed us it would be about 20min-25min wait since they were backed up on orders. The place wasn't busy at all so I thought that was a little odd and it wasn't a weekend, but maybe they are short staffed. The store is cutely decorated and a nice spot for breakfast. We chose to sit outside since it was a nice sunny day. We both ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage. It was yummy & a decently sized burrito. Love that they put a large piece of sausage inside. The service was very good, very polite, and very friendly. The ambiance was also very nice, you just order your food upfront and then sit down and wait. I enjoy all the little coffee tins with cutlery in them. The breakfast burrito was incredible, the eggs inside were made very well and didn't feel "gross" and the potato's were very delicious. I tried Bolt for the first time yesterday just to pick up some coffee so I can't speak to the food yet, but I will say that the coffee was delicious! I ordered a regular latte and a drip and the flavor of my latte was really good and hot. The pastry display is gorgeous too and if I had been in the mood, I totally would have gone for it cause everything looked actually good and not like it'd be sitting out for awhile like some places. Lots of variety. The only thing I will dock them for is that they appear horrifically understaffed. I know they have requests for more baristas but the poor girl who was serving us had a line of 5 people out the door trying to take orders and make drinks. She was smart in that while she was at the espresso machine, she took a few of our orders verbally and just cranked out our drinks. So I was holding my latte and enjoying it when I paid for it, but for a coffee shop, I waited much too long for my drink. The woman behind me ended up getting out of line and leaving because it took too long. Finally, two guys came out from the back and helped the woman, but I think they have to have at least 2-3 people working to process the morning rush if they're going to keep getting business. BOLT seems to be known for their breakfast and lunch, which we have yet to try (no, I know). But, we stopped by for dinner, which they just started doing, and it was awesome! They do rotisserie chickens, brisket, and pulled pork plates, along with burgers and salads. There are even kids options, but our daughter wanted my chicken over her quesadilla (which was still tasty)! The plates come with roasted squash, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries, salad, etc. They also do cauliflower bites with a tasty dipping sauce. Great beers on tap, too. I will definitely be back - gives you that home cooked feel, without having to clean the kitchen. The price point is great, too. Highly recommend the rotisserie plate! Dinner at Bolt!! We were so lucky we found them open as they just recently started dinner service. The food and atmosphere - hip, clean as a whistle with such great style - were absolutely what we needed after a day of driving up the coast. We started with the wedge salad which was fresh and crisp but not overwhelming like some at other places tend to be. Highly recommend. I got the brisket plate and it was tender and flavorful along with perfectly cooked sweet potato fries. My GF got the burger on a house made English muffin and loved it. She thought the pickles were house made as well? So good. You know after a meal when you feel like you just ate really fresh, delicious, food and did something good for yourself in the process?
