I'm so happy Urbane Cafe has another location in the South Bay! The first time I checked out Urbane Cafe was at their Palos Verdes location, and now that they have a location in Redondo Beach, I can see myself coming here more often since it is much closer to me. This Urbane Cafe is located at the same plaza as Whole Foods Redondo Beach. There's plenty of parking, making it easy to stop by and grab a meal. For my first visit, I got their Sweet Chili Crunch Chicken sandwich along with a cup of Baja Enchilada soup. I am a huge fan of their fresh baked bread and so I really liked my sandwich. The bread was spot on and so soft and fresh. It was a perfect complement to the flavorful chicken. I loved the sweet and savory flavors of the chicken that was enhanced with the crunchy slaw. The Baja Enchilada soup paired perfectly with sandwich. It had a nice slightly spicy kick that added even more flavor to the meal. Overall, I am so happy to have an Urbane Cafe nearby. I had the Cobb Salad + added chicken: The dressing was really good, lettuce was fresh. Portion looks small but with the chicken add-on it was plenty to get me through lunch. Picky eater? Urbane cafe offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and bowls. It's located in the Whole Foods plaza in redondo beach, opposite of the Michaels in the plaza. I ordered the salmon bowl. Overall the food tasted very healthy however a bit more on the bland side. The roasted sweet potatoes in the bowl were very good. I'm not sure if it is the norm but the focaccia bread was very dry. There are kiosks and also someone to take your order as well. The service was great and food came out quickly. There are 3 tables indoors with mostly outdoor patio seating. Definitely recommend getting the chocolate chip cookie at the end of your meal since they are served warm! Tasted like the perfect home made cookie, slightly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. They also have an app where you can collect points and redeem rewards. My family and friends came today for lunch! We really enjoy their sandwiches, salads, and chocolate chip cookies. They have a variety of options to choose from. They even have vegetarian options and gluten option available as well. They make their own bread and cookies! I really like the salads come with a lot of toppings. The bread always tastes fresh. I love Urbane Cafe, so was very excited to have one open up closer to home! This location, despite being new, could use some attention though. I have come 3 times and each time, all the tables have been filthy, so it's not the most pleasant experience. The food is already great. Go-tos are the So Cal and Santa Maria BBQ sandwich. I do notice that this location skimps a bit, both with the amount of meat on the sandwich and the salad portion compared to other locations (namely, Long Beach and San Pedro/Palos Verdes). read more

Found this place while scouting for new places to eat that wasn't fried food. Urbane seems to be a newer restaurant in the South Bay so I wanted to try it out. I ordered the cranberry Brie sandwich with the side salad which was pretty decent. The best part was their cookies. I got the chocolate chip and it was nice and chewy. The staff are pretty nice and even gave out samples of the cookies. I look forward to trying out their other sandwiches! read more

As a previous Ventura resident, I love seeing urbane expanding. This location is no different. Fresh bread, quality food, great vibe and an awesome patio for nice days. We got a mailer with 3 coupons for buy one get one free and a free lemonade and cookie. We used 2 coupons and ordered the chocolate chip cookie, lemonade, Baja bowl and Cobb salad. It was $13.99 with my BOGO coupon and free lemonade and cookie. The free focaccia bread was thick and dry. The bowl was pretty good flavors but it was really small like smaller than sweet green. A really flat paper bowl. The chicken is really thinly sliced and very little. The salad was a ton of greens and then a small portion of half an avocado, some bacon bits, some tomatoes and dressing on the side. It felt like mostly lettuce. The dressing wasn't anything special. The cookie was good. The lemonade was normal. The place is clean and there is a lot of patio seating. They served the food to our table and it was timely. I'll have to try some other things on the menu as I have one more buy one get one coupon. I prefer chicken maison salads and sweet green bowls for the comparable prices. read more

We were there at about 3 PM on Sunday 8th of March. The business is new but this when you need to make a good impression. They didn't make a good one for me. First we walked in and there was a woman in front of us. We didn't want to use the tablet, I prefer to deal with a human. It took a couple of minutes for the person in front of us to finish the transaction. The associate behind the counter walked away without a work and went on to prepare food. We were clearly in line needing to order our food. We were invisible for about two minutes, then another associate came and took our order. We ordered a sandwich and a salad. They gave us a number. We sat down and waited, and waited. It took almost 25 minutes to get our food. There were only to associates working. And they were working hard. They were overwhelmed. We spend about $30 for our food, which isn't exactly cheap, but the food was just OK. Not bad , but no reason to come back for. The portion size is on the smaller size. So if for a salad and a sandwich I need to wait for 25 minutes and the food is nothing special, why would I come back? So if you open a new business staff it properly. You saved yourself a salary or two , but you will lose customers. If I had come on a weekday for lunch, from work, I would spend most of my lunch waiting for food. It's not the fault of the two people working that day, it's management fault. I hadn't been to one since I left Ventura county years ago. We would always go to the Agoura Hills location. The good: the pesto chicken sandwich tastes like it always has. They now have gluten free bread so my girlfriend can enjoy it. However, they significantly cut the salad portions down in size, from what they used to serve. I was still hungry. It's definitely not a "dinner" meal, only really acceptable for "lunch .". I'd rather they have raised the price more and kept the same portions. I mean, it used to be 7.95 now is 12.95, but don't trim the portions down significantly in size. The salad was a few bites and the chicken was razor thin. I love the idea of this place. The main courses feel healthy! Cookies are delicious! Unfortunately, the presentation and portion sizes are lacking on the salads and bowls. First the portions are not dinner sized. The bowl is only about half full to the top......even just adding extra lettuce for salads or extra rice for bowls would help. Very small amounts of thin chicken. Also, maybe because the bowls are not full, the presentation just looks thrown together and sad. The flavors are good and we have had only one mistake on an order and we've eaten here 4 times. I'll keep coming back but I wish the portions were quite a big larger on salads and bowls. read more

Definitely smaller than the other location I'd been to but the food is still delicious with the same broad menu of sandwiches and great soups as I'd had before. Walked in and was greeted by all of the employees all at once! Wow, what a surprise that made me laugh inside. They didn't seem fake or forced; they all seemed happy and having fun at their jobs. The employees were very customer service oriented. There was great variety on the menu. Salads, bowls, and sandwiches on delicious focaccia bread. Each menu item had a theme. I got the So Cal sandwich on gluten free bread. Incredible gluten free focaccia ! Fluffy, tasty, and not dry. You can't tell there's anything different about it being gluten free. It was so good that I'm still to this day wondering if they really gave me the gluten free version of their bread.
