If Modern means Bland then yes. They got something going here. Probably should not assume food is good or going to taste the way you imagine. Best of the bunch. Today was the asada vVda burrito. Deassada was fresh, tender and juicy with lots of flavor. All the other ingredients blended well. It was on a smaller side but just enough. Albondigas was the worst of the order. It was hardly a soup that brought savory broth feeling and tender meatballs that comfort you. Instead the broth was super bland, meatballs were flavorless and too firm to cut with the. Had lots of veggies which was a plus if you like sweet with veggies which I do. I just wish they were also tender, swimming and good broth. Most restaurant serve fresh chips and salsa which they did. Complimentary chips were hard. This also was too heavy on oregano. Ordered some guacamole but had to ounce for them to cook fresh tosadas so we could eat with the guac instead of the hard chips. $14 wasn't too bad for the price and the portion. I did enjoy the one fish taco that I ordered. Was huge portion but stacked so high that you could barely close the tortilla. This is the first time I bought a flour. Tortilla worked well for the taco. It was also bland but I was able to salvage it with some of their spicy salsa that I requested. Places are heavy on the alcohol and drink menu which likely is a draw. I actually really love the Paloma which was non-alcoholic. However, the food must meet the mark and today I am sad to say it missed on several points For my standards. I really did appreciate the staff who were all very helpful, super friendly and did their best to accommodate all of our asks. The location is nice right on the Redondo Beach strip with so many food options to choose from.
Dined at Vida last night on a mother daughter date night and had a pretty good night, overall. Solid, 4.5 stars. Loved their fresh fried chips served with salsa upon seating. We ordered a side of guacamole, which my daughter loved. Her and I shared a three taco plate with rice and beans. We had the fried cod, asada and carnitas. I'll be right there. The tacos were definitely sizable and we weren't able to finish our share plate. Good flavor loved the freshly fried fish steak crispy even with a huge mound of guacamole on top. The Carnitas had a cinnamon flavor which I've never had anywhere else before, but I surprisingly liked it. Must try our Max's Margs. And my daughter said the best Shirley Temple's she's ever had. We came right at dinner time so they were very busy. We had to wait for our food, but it is what you would expect at a dinner time rush. The staff was very friendly and Dylan was on top of it! He continually checked in on us to make sure we were doing OK and took great care of us! Great little restaurant at the Riv. Plenty of bike parking and great indoor and outdoor seating will definitely be a return customer.

The tacos were small but they were surprisingly very filling!! The free chips and salsa were delicious. My only issue is that I wish the taco meat had more flavor, they were very bland and the chicken taco was drenched in juice (which usually i wouldnt mind but the juice just tasted like water, it wasnt flavorful in my opinion). In terms of ambiance and outdoor seating, its a cute spot for happy hour.
It was our first time here and I've always wanted to try this place! Upon arrival, the hostess honestly seemed a little bothered that we were there to dine, which wasn't the best first impression. Thankfully our waiter John completely changed the experience. He was attentive, friendly, and served us with a smile the whole time. We sat inside and the place was super cute! Of course our fur baby Louie joined us and stayed cozy right beside me the entire time The tacos were sooo yummy! I had the shrimp and asada tacos and let me tell you... the shrimp were huge and packed with flavor. The beans and rice were delicious too. But my FAVORITE was the ahi tuna tacos! I loved every bite and could eat 5! lol I'll come back just for that. The only disappointing part was noticing that some of the glasses looked dirty. Hopefully that's something they improve on because the food itself was really good and we still enjoyed our visit overall.
Came here around lunch. The good: the chips they give you beforehand are excellent. Warm and seasoned + the salsa... top notch. The waiter/ waitress were friendly. The ok: the rest of the food. I got the breakfast burrito, which I should have checked previous reviews because it doesn't seem like they get praised very often. My wife's scramble was just ok, but she said definitely greasier than she anticipated. The bad: the time it took us to get our food. My wife said she noticed people around us ordering after us and we received our food about 10-15 min after those same people. I'm wondering if an item was missing or they missed our order initially since it took an abnormally long time for us to receive our food. We also had a 2 year old who was not on his best behavior, so mix the much longer wait with that, and as you can imagine it wasn't the best experience. The host also wasn't very friendly and it felt like we were burdening her just by being there. Kind of a bummer, as this was our first time trying this place.
The food was delicious, and the Taco Tuesday deal is definitely worth checking out. My in-laws visiting from North Wales loved it--especially since this was their first time trying Mexican food! Huge shoutout to Ruby and AJ for the great service and for taking such good care of us. Definitely recommend Vida Modern Mexican + Tequila!
This place is outstanding! Food, drinks, service, all on point. Every food item I've had was incredibly flavorful and presented like a gourmet 5 star meal. The service is always above and beyond, will be a top 5 choice for delicious food in the Southbay!
Found this cool spot for lunch in Redondo Beach in the Riviera Village.. chill vibe sitting outside on the patio people watching while enjoying excellent food. Alyssa did a great job waiting on us. The food was really tasty, best Mexican restaurant I've been to in a while. I had a killer Vida burrito and a superb tasting Caesar salad ,my wife had enchiladas in which she loved and my daughter had the quesadillas which were also excellent. The restaurant inside also has a counter that you can sit at where you can watch the main street... great spot for a light lunch and a beer. Definitely recommend this spot if you're Redondo!!
Walked by during taco Tuesday and saw they had a special, $2.50 per street taco which isn't terrible so decided to give them a try. Staff was super nice, we were able to select our table and sit down. Took a little while to get our order taken and for the food to come out. You get free chips and salsa, their chips were seasoned differently which was cool. I ordered two asada and one al pastor taco from the taco Tuesday menu, and the tacos were mid. The Al pastor taco was not good, the asada had decent flavor but asada meat was a little tough. Rice and beans, nothing special. Not sure we would be back.
This is the perfect spot for a girl's night! We all ordered a burrito; I got mine with carne asada and it was delicious. It was packed with lots of toppings and bold flavors. The portion size is also big for leftovers or sharing. The chips and salsa that comes at the table were also really good. The chips were pre-seasoned, making it so much better. Overall, great spot and I'll definitely have to come back!
Met with friends for dinner at Vida. My first time here, and the tacos looked really good. I ordered the carnitas taco and a asada taco, they were very tasty. The steak was tender. Well done! I will come back for a taco Tuesday!
I did a walk in and sat at the bar since I didn't have a reservation. I went based off the high reviewed. I'm not sure about parking since I was casually strolling down the street when I visited. I checked YELP and saw such high reviews so I was excited. Customer Service was great. I ordered a carne taco and a chipotle chicken taco. They were the most flavorless tacos I've ever had in my life. The only winner was that the tortillas were fresh. I also had a Paloma which is one of their most popular drinks and that too was nothing but grapefruit flavoring no alcohol no effect. Ambiance was average, sitting at the bar was ehh as the seating was close to the kitchen and there was no air. All in all I would not return here. The price of the two tacos does not equate to the lack of flavor.
Decent catered burrito bowl... curious to try the real thing They catered our lunch today, and I went with a pollo asada burrito bowl (everything on it, except onions). It was solid, and I could tell they use fresh ingredients, but overall it felt just okay. Maybe under seasoned ? To be fair, they were working out of a mobile setup, so I don't want to judge too harshly. That said, when you hear "burrito bowl," it's hard not to compare it to Chipotle (am I telling on myself?) and I'd say this landed about one notch below that. I'd definitely be interested in giving them another shot at their brick-and-mortar location to see how it stacks up when it's served fresh from the kitchen. There's potential there!
It was only about a 10-minute drive from Redondo Beach Pier to Riviera Village. We walked around the village for a bit and then ended up deciding to dine at VIDA. Great choice! Even better, it was Happy Hour when we were there! We ordered tacos, burritos, quesadillas, wine, and beers. Everything was so tasty and went perfectly with my wine. We sat out on the patio and just loved the beautiful weather. Coming from AZ, being able to sit outside and enjoy a meal in the middle of August is definitely a treat. You're not getting that privilege in Arizona unless you want to melt with your tacos! Oh, and even better--VIDA is on InKind! I was able to use my InKind discount to pay the bill, which made a great Happy Hour even better. Good food, nice weather, patio seating, Happy Hour, AND an InKind discount? Definitely a busy and lively spot. I wouldn't mind coming back again, that's for sure. They have deals on certain day so of the week and we went here on a Tuesday for their taco tuesdays. They got a wide selection of Mexican food and the street tacos (and regular tacos) were the reasons for our visit. The food is pretty good. A little on the pricier side but you're also in the Riviera in Redondo Beach. The ambiance is nice. Great vibes. Laid back, nice spot to relax and socialize. Their drink menu is pretty wide as well. Solid margaritas here. Given how busy they were, it took us some time to put in our order but we couldn't get mad at their waitstaff. They were very busy handling all the tables. Loved this spot! It was great sitting at the bar, we had margaritas and enchiladas that were delicious. They did make a mistake on one of our orders and were so nice and quick about fixing it and making it right. Friendly staff and cute spot. read more

We came here for dinner and ordered the chili verde plate, asada taco plate, kid's chicken and cheese tacos, & flan. It gets busy at dinner so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Joe was our server and he had amazing customer service and attentiveness, although they had a full house! I appreciated him also recommending a fruit plate for our toddler. We came here for lunch a different day and the service wasn't the best so I mentioned it prior to this visit and the service for dinner was night & day difference from our last experience. They truly listen to their customers with care and consideration which I really appreciate. Thank you Joe for the amazing experience! This will definitely be a staple for our family. We love that it's healthy and seed oil free. The prices are also extremely reasonable for the quality they provide. We love that they have outdoor seating and our kids loved watching the cars go by. read more
Food is delicious as before. The mushroom quesadilla is really great. We came here for Happy Hour. The server advised us that we can switch out the ingredients for agave, etc. I should have asked if this was extra but anyway, when we got our bill, we were bummed that it was significantly higher. Just a heads up if you happen to go during Happy Hour. Should have been told to us that it's an extra $ whatever. read more

I'm very disappointed with the Birria Breakfast Burrito. It is terrible. I'm throwing it away in the trash. Look at the picture. It is super dry and does not smell good at all. The hash browns were barely cooked. The eggs is mixed with the birria and tasted like it was made hours ago and just sitting there. Their other dishes are much much better. I have ate here a few times before. This needs to be taken off the menu. read more

first time here on busy Saturday night. comfortable and plenty of seating. Veg options are delicious! Food was all seasoned well including the delicious chips. cocktails are excellent! S/O to our server Dylan, who made out first dining experience memorable!! can't wait to come back. read more

Nice place Friendly service Came on a Monday and they had specials on margaritas. They were pretty good. I got the enchiladas (carne) the meat was pretty tough and bland. The rice and beans was pretty bland too. I didn't care for my entree at all. But overall we had a good dinner. I'll come again but I'll try something different. read more

Don't get the al pastor- no flavor and wet from the pineapple and salsa. Cod taco was fine and very mild. Queso fundido was fine. Don't get the fajitas- burned the steak on one side (black) because they forgot about it and I tried to send it back. The chef had the server come back with it and say that's how they prepare it and it can't be cooked less. The birtia burrito was good but you have to ask for consume. They also never cleared our table. Server was nice. read more
