I was having one of those days where I had everything timed out down to the minute and then ADHD + a cute dog + the app happened I was trying to grab food before heading to another important obligation and almost didn't even finish ordering because I kept getting distracted clicking through menu options. The app could definitely use a better search function because I spent way too long trying to find what I wanted. What stood out though was the manager. This manager was LOCKED IN!! Helping customers, delegating to staff, calling people over when they needed an extra hand, answering questions, keeping things moving, and somehow still managing to stay calm and kind the entire time. You can absolutely tell the difference between someone who's just doing their job and someone who's genuinely great at it. I was stressed, running behind, and trying not to drop the ball on something important, and everything was handled so efficiently that I could literally feel my anxiety coming down. The whole staff was great, but the manager was the GLUE. Food was mid (probably because they were getting ready to close, but also I'm just not really a salad person), but honestly that wasn't the part that mattered to me. This is literally one of the worst places I've had a salad in my entire life. I paid over $20 for their mediocre chicken avocado ranch salad, which was a pathetic excuse of meal I had to ask for extra chicken because the regular amount is laughable on how much they put on your plate and an extra scoop I think is between 4 to 5 dollars and it had to be I kid you not maybe an ounce and a half of extra chicken. It was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life and I only bought it because I was with a friend if I would've saw the portion size at the end, I would've walked out and told them I'm not paying for that. They were extremely greedy with the portion sizes. They asked if I wanted a "free" bread at the end when I was paying. There were three options in front of me so I picked the one bread that looked the best out of the three they honestly all look very crusty but I picked the best looking one and I said I'll take that one and the girl says oh no, not that one it has to be one of these two the one that I picked is an up charge just like everything else in that store.. extremely disappointing. I would never return ever in my life. If you want the world's smallest portion sizes with 90% lettuce and 5% toppings and another 5% of protein then this is your spot. And let me just mention I'm 115 pounds at 5'2 which says a lot on how tiny these portion sizes were if it were small for me with double chicken save yourself the money and disappointment. They make it look big by grabbing a big shallow bowl and filling it up with 90% lettuce. Stopped by sweetgreen today with my brother after a busy morning of running errands, and overall we had a really great experience! We placed a pickup order through DoorDash around 12:40 PM and everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. We ordered two Chicken Jalapeño Ranch wraps (for myself and my mom), and my brother got the Steak Honey Crunch bowl with added egg and crispy noodles. Unfortunately, they forgot to add the crispy noodles to his bowl even though it was an extra charge, which is the only reason for the 4 stars -- but honestly, it didn't ruin the experience at all. The food was STILL amazing. Everything tasted very fresh, fulfilling, and portioned perfectly. I'm especially OBSESSED with the charred jalapeño ranch dressing sooo good! We also grabbed the peach oolong iced tea, which paired perfectly with the meal. I also wanted to shout out the customer service because it really stood out to us. I recently downloaded the sweetgreen app and joined their rewards program. As an incentive, new rewards members would get 500 bonus points upon purchase of their first entree. But there was more, at least in my case. I registered around the New Year, and I was emailed a couple of other promotions: 1) Earn 200 bonus points when you order a salad, bowl, or protein plate 2) Earn 100 bonus points every time you order an item from The Function Menu So if I did my math right, if I were to get a salad, bowl, or protein plate from The Function Menu as my first order, I'd get 800 points plus however many points I'd earn from that purchase! How could I say no to that?! I was planning a trip to the South Bay on a Sunday, and there just so happened to be a sweetgreen location a little farther from where I was going, but was worth driving the few extra miles out of the way to try my first sweetgreen meal! This location in Torrance is in Del Amo Fashion Center on the east side of Hawthorne Blvd between Carson and Fashion. It's on the northwest corner of the mall between Philz Coffee and Frida Mexican Cuisine. When I came in, I made my way to the opposite end of the restaurant while perusing the overhead menu. I knew I wanted something from the Function menu, which was posted on the far side, and they only had three choices: Nutrient Power Plate, Spicy Reset Bowl, and Omega Salad. I didn't know if a Nutrient Power Plate was a protein plate or not, and when I asked an employee (Ananda?), she wasn't totally sure either! She sort of guessed that the Nutrient Power Plate would be considered a protein plate, but she also recommended the Spicy Reset Bowl as a good choice. Since the Spicy Reset Bowl is a bowl, I took her word for it. She recited the list of ingredients for the bowl as she was building it, but she also offered to sub out the wild rice for quinoa. I was wondering if that would have incurred an upcharge, but she said it wouldn't, and so I went with the quinoa. Since it was my first time at any sweetgreen, I appreciated Ananda's helpful service, going through each ingredient one by one in making sure I'd get what I like. To top it off, she asked if I'd like the two sauces, extra virgin olive oil and sweetgreen hot sauce, to be inside or on the side. Even though I was planning to eat there, I wanted the sauces on the side so that I could taste them individually before mixing them into my bowl. I did ask her about the hot sauce, and Ananda mentioned it was vinegar-based. Right before I paid, she also offered me a slice of their bread, which was complimentary with my bowl. However, I noticed one of the menu screens mentioning that brand new rewards members could get $5 off a $10+ purchase, which I did not see when I signed up late last year. I asked Ananda about that, and she asked a co-worker, Savannah, who mentioned that the $5 should automatically come off if it were my first order. Well, unfortunately, that was not the case. After I scanned my QR code at the register, the $5 didn't come off even though the Spicy Reset Bowl was way more than $10. Ananda believed that the $5 off would apply on my next visit, but I had to email customer support to get that loaded on my account. Even though I didn't mention "for here" or "to go", Ananda still packed my order as if it were a "to go" order, securing the bowl with a lid on top and placing the bowl inside a sweetgreen paper bag. I also asked for a water cup to go with my bowl. For the most part, I enjoyed the Spicy Reset Bowl, with each ingredient tasting so fresh and healthy that I felt pretty good about what I was eating. However, it was pretty kale heavy that without the two sauces, it would have been pretty dull to eat. After adding both sauces in, I felt like the bowl could have used a third cup of sauce, which I learned on my next visit I could have asked for. On my second visit, also on a Sunday, there were two different employees, and when I asked them about the Function Menu, they didn't know what I meant, and when I tried to clarify, they thought I was talking about ordering online?! They had replaced that screen on their overhead menu with wraps, so I had to show them on my phone. After some back and forth, I chose the Omega Salad, which had salmon in it, and I asked for three cups of the cilantro lime dressing. The leafy greens in the salad were also quite dry too, but not as bad as the kale from the Spicy Reset Bowl, which appeared pretty shriveled. The salmon tasted pretty good, especially with that cilantro lime dressing. That third sauce cup really helps a lot, so be sure to ask for a third if you can! If you wanted a 4th, I'm sure you'd get charged for it. The employees working on my second visit weren't as helpful as Ananda, who I believe was also working that day. Nevertheless, I have been quite pleased with my two visits to this sweetgreen, but now that the Long Beach location has opened, it's hard to say if I'll return to this location. read more

You can take your food to go if you're in a rush. A bit pricey, especially for the servings, but the bowl varieties are a bit more than at Chipotle. Sweetgreens have been popping up everywhere, but this was my first time going to one. This location is at Del Amo Mall, but you have to exit the mall in order to enter (it's just right outside, so not too far of a walk). You walk along their counter to order and customize your bowl/plate. They'll have it ready for you and the end of the counter where you pay. I got the Miso Glazed Salmon, which is one of their Protein Plates. It comes with avocado, cucumber, pickled onions, crispy onions, white rice, and nori sesame seasoning. The salmon was cooked pretty well, a little crispy on the outside and not too dry on the inside. I was disappointed with the avocado though, it was hard and not ripe at all. This plate normally comes with a spicy cashew dressing, but I got it with their Pesto Vinaigrette which I thought went better with this dish! I also tried some of the Chicken Avocado Ranch Bowl that comes with blackened chicken, avocado, pickled onions, apples, tortilla chips, white rice, chopped romaine, and green goddess ranch. I thought this bowl was pretty good overall! I enjoyed their green goddess dressing too. Tried their Ripple Fries with Garlic Aioli, but they were hard and kind of rubbery. We asked for the dressing on the side and glad we did. It did not need the dressing since each component is seasoned. Our only complaint is that the broccoli was too salty. In the past five visits or so since Ive tried SG for the first time, there has been a consistent downgrade in both quality & portions. There has been wilted lettuce, a bug in my food, & the portions have gotten way smaller. They've also gotten rid of the green olives & changed their shredded carrots to large clunky pieces. Their bread was also hard as rock, I didn't even eat it. They also forgot my shredded cabbage which I paid extra for during this visit. I held off going to sweet green for a long time just because I'm not a mall rat, but someone gave me a giftcard and I am sort of embarrassed to say I went three times in a row, it's that good. They have lots of healthy options that also taste great. My favorite is the build your own, but you have to watch your toppings or it can get crazy expensive! My friend managed to get a $32 salad!! Well. i ordered the Iron Bowl which was very enticing looking- grass fed garlic steak , golden quinoa, arugula with a lime dressing (I think). Funny it's no longer listed on the menu. My total order with delivery and tip came to about $28. Expecting to enjoy a great salad, I was severely disappointed and just threw it away. I didn't receive what was described. Instead of a potentially delicious lunch, I received a bowl of arugula, quinoa and chopped red cabbage. No steak, no dressing, not even utensils. Came with sad slice of bread. Quinoa has approx 3 mg of iron per 1 cup, arugula has about .8 mg per 3.5 oz serving and red cabbage has .56- .8 per 100 grams. I mean... I wanted iron from the steak. But, down to the most basic want, I wanted to have something to eat for lunch. I mean, not even dressing? I was expected to scoop with my hands and choke down a drrrrryyy bowl of three ingredients. Oh well. Such is the current state of service and I really shouldn't be so surprised. This reminded me to check my expectations . Before Sweetgreen came to Del Amo we use to always go to the one in Santa Monica Sweetgreen. We love it because my family tends to eat very clean. I've been to this location a handful of times and the employees and service was always really good. However, when I went tonight I saw a homeless person who was very dirty walk in and sit down. Didn't order any food nothing. Just sit there on his mobile phone. I get that it's scary for employees to get involved in anything or ask people to leave but come on, call security. In Santa Monica where homeless population is higher than the South Bay has no homeless people in their store. A dinner for two with drinks is typically over forty dollars here and I can't eat in here peaceful in fear of something happening. Please control the people who come in to your resturant. read more

Came here on a Saturday two weeks ago. It wasn't too busy around noon. Got the Harvest Bowl which is one of their most popular dishes. It's good and the kale is very fresh. The kale could use some scrunching/squeezing though to soften it up more. Personally, I would prefer more protein added into my salad. It also came with a piece of complimentary sourdough bread. It was pretty tough and dry (is that normal?). For the dressing they will ask if you want a little, normal, or a lot. I got a normal amount which was ok. The dressing tastes good. You can also ask for more dressing on the side in a container. When they prepare the salad, they also ask to make sure you're ok with adding everything on the original menu. It's nice of them to ask to double check. The inside is very spacious with a few seats available and self-serve water. There are more outdoor seating which has some sunny spots and some shady areas too. I loved eating outdoors. It was very relaxing. It was an overall decent experience. I would consider coming back here if I'm in the area again. read more

My wife and I enjoy going to Sweetgreens. We've gone to many Sweetgreen locations in different cities for years and always enjoyed the food. Their salads are bit expensive, but you get good clean food with lots of Romaine, Kale, with seasoned chicken mixed with different ingredients such as rice, sweet potatoes, broccoli, tomatoes and all their dressings are great from caesars to vinaigrette. The Torrance Del Amo \ South Bay Sweetgreens is closest to my house and has seats with AC power plugs. This free power is an open invitation for homeless people to just walk in and sit next to the forks and napkins to help themselves to the power and water. I saw this homeless guy walk in with uncombed hair, his feet were totally black and his back had grass and dirt when he walked in. He sat on the first table next to the napkins and forks and plugged in a cell phone. I just got my salad and sat at the opposite end of the restaurant. But damn, his socks or underwear stunk like hell. And I could smell it 25 feet away. Imagine this odor - Rotten milk spoiled in the plastic jug with floating bits of green mold floating in a yogurt thick bacterial spoilage. Then put that under your nose and unscrew the cap, while the sewage odor hits you - imagine taking a swig of that filth glob right into your mouth and vomit immediately after it touches your tongue. Just the thought is enough to make me gag. That's what this guy smelled like - across the restaurant no less. As much as I would have liked to have enjoyed my Chicken Avocado Ranch salad. I got nauseated from his smell and started to dry heave. I got up and took my lunch outside, but that smell didn't go away from my mind and I had to toss the salad after four or five bites. It was a good salad, but that stink took the hunger out of me. The Sweetgreens employees need to call Del Amo Mall security and get any homeless people that are not buying salads out of the restaurant - sanitize the hell out of the seat that guy was in, and\or turn off the power to those seats. Nobody is hanging out with their laptops or phones to charge them, just the homeless. When I got up, the girl that made my salad knew he stunk and wouldn't even give me eye contact. She had to have smelled it too. And she did nothing. I'm not sure if I can go back for a long time after that experience. The Sweetgreens loyalty rewards membership is good - and you can get discounts or free bread, but the Del Amo store needs to learn how to get people that are NOT customers out of the store - especially when they stink to high hell. I really had to fight nausea from that guys smell. If you go to the restaurant, dont sit on the seat closest to the napkins (across from the register), thats where this guy was. Gross. read more

It's been a while since I last had sweetgreen so it was nice to be back. Unfortunately, they no longer have a vegetarian/vegan menu items but you can make your own bowl which is what I did. Tip: sweet potato topping that's $2.25 a scoop is pretty hard, not like the baked version that's soft. The space is beautiful with both outdoor patio and indoor seating options. 2 individual bathrooms as well as the to go water cups. Those are great bonuses!! read more

Customer service was non-existent. I could not believe what I was experiencing as a first time customer. I walked in, wasn't greeted, and stood at the counter awkwardly with no other customers there, for at least a few minutes. I took that time to look over the menu even though I had already decided what I wanted. I finally looked over at the four people crowded around the register/end of line area and one guy noticed me and signaled for the girl that was prepping in the back area to turn around and help me. She turned around and proceeded to give me the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It felt like I was ruining her day, making her scoop rice and mushrooms into a bowl. So. So. Wild. Good new is, my salad was super delicious, which was nice. read more

Swetgreen did again hiring the most rude people . The lady name Mia has such a bad attitude . I know is fast food but come on , I assume that's how they serve food in jail , problem is sweetgreen is not jail I am paying for it ! I've been here a few times now, and I really enjoy the KBBQ salad plate. The flavors are really good! I also ordered lunch for my son's teachers for an end of the year treat, and they loved it. I truly think that the key to having a good experience is to be there when Paul is there because he does a great job of helping customers. He has remembered me each time I've gone in to the restaurant, which I think is important to notice repeat customers and build that restaurant/client relationship. I have gone in the afternoons, and I do agree that food items seem to depleted in the evening and the workers seem a bit exhausted. Overall though, I think it's a great choice to sit and eat a tasty, favorable quick bite. read more
