Southwest Beef Southwest Beef and Bean Bowl with hardly any meat and super mushy rice. Flavor was not good.
    Ernie G.

I've been here a few times. I like to support smaller businesses anytime I can, however, I think today might be my last time coming here. My wife ordered the Southwest Beef Bowl. The first issue was the how small the portion was for the bowl and also the amount of meat that was in it. It literally had maybe about 8-10 small cubes of beef and the rest being rice, which also was very mushy and not pleasant to eat. Secondly, the seasoning on their items lack quite a bit, especially the meatballs in their spaghetti. They are just so bland and the meat also has a very odd texture to it. Not exactly sure what they do to it, but it's not good. And this was the second time I've ordered that meal. The salads are pretty decent to good. I've had their Baja Salad and the Texas Smokehouse and they came out pretty good and also a good portion. I tried their "wraps" but really they are just burrito salads with them using a flour tortilla vs a real pita wrap. Not the end of the world, but using flour tortillas makes the wraps taste different and have more tendency of breaking apart easier when eating. I think from now on, I'll just go to Simply Salad down the street as their food is always good and portions are consistent.

ordered the ahi salad with cranberries added. Nice mix of greens and tuna was fresh! My mom got the Waldorf salad and she can't stop eating until it's all gone. I will be back soon..

Tried this place for dinner while in Long Beach and not only was the food amazing but the staff and service were fantastic. We ordered the loaded backed potato which is large enough to feed 2 People. They spared NO bacon on it and the flavor was great. We also ordered the Baja chicken salad with jalapeño ranch dressing and this dressing made the salad. It had the perfect spice level and was the perfect consistency. I only wish they sold it in-store so I could take it home. While we were eating we were served samples of their soup which included chilli, tortilla, tomato and basil, and clam chowder. ALL of the soups were delicious but my favorite was the tomato and basil. I needed a grilled cheese sandwich, a blanket, and my favorite TV show to top off that soup. Lastly we were greeted by a gentleman named Rick. Not sure if he's the owner or chef but he was so warm and friendly and made our visit even better. I highly recommend this location, the food, and the great people that work there.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in explaining the menu since it was our first time. I love the idea of a fast casual eatery that has healthy options. And I don't think I've seen another place in the area that has big baked potatoes on their menu! The food was tasty, the space was clean and I loved that they were playing 90s/2000s R&B videos on the screen. No issue parking in the adjacent lot when we arrived, but I could see it getting a bit busy during lunch times with other restaurants in the same plaza. Looking forward to coming back!

When you're in the mood for something healthy yet tasty, The Toss Up has been my go-to for salads! They have a good variety of set options or you can build your own. My favorite is their Baja Salad. It comes with romaine, mixed greens, corn, black beans, red onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and grilled chicken. I appreciate the variety of fresh ingredients in this salad! It usually comes with a spicy jalapeno dressing, but I prefer their BBQ Ranch. "The Toss Up" Cobb is pretty good as well. This one has romaine, cherry tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, bacon, roast turkey, bacon, and red onions. All of their salads come with a piece of flat bread. too. Their pre-set salads are definitely a better deal than if you try to select each ingredient when you build your own bowl. Another thing I like about The Toss Up is they have other pasta, baked potato, and soup options in case you feel like you need something extra on top of a salad. We tried their Loaded Baked Potato Bowl and their Cheddar Broccoli Baked Potato Bowl, and they were HUGE! Definitely good for sharing. We usually order online ahead of time, and the estimated wait time always seems oddly long, but sometimes when we get to the restaurant, there aren't too many people there. Not sure if the estimated pick up time system needs to be calibrated?

Incredible!!! My friend and I came here for a healthier option after a day at the theme parks, and this did not disappointed! We were greeted with incredible customer service, and were showered with samples. I ultimately had the Dreamy Vegan, and he built his own salad, but wow!! The size of our salads, and the protein, as well as the dressings, absolutely delicious. I also got to try the broccoli cheddar and tomato soup, and both were bursting with the most delicious flavors! The restaurant was clean, and such a fun atmosphere to spend some time hanging out after a great day! DO NOT SKIP THIS WONDERFUL PLACE!

My Mistake! You ever go to a restaurant and they do things sooo good/right you realize you judged them against previous *meh* experiences? Well, that's what I realized today. I stopped in to pick up lunch for myself and my family. I ordered two shrimp alfredos and two cesar salads. I always get my salads with the dressing mixed in. I'm used to places having watery dressing with barely any flavor so I just assumed The Toss Up would kinda be the same, especially because this is a cesar dressing (and yes, I've been here before to dine in and got the dressing mixed in then too, to the Thai salad). By the time I got home (after making a stop), my salad had wilted a bit and my croutons were not as chrunchy. I'm not mad about it because THE FLAVOR!!!!! OMG!!! this cesar dressing is amazing! Creamy, sumptuous, heavy in the best way possible. Every bite of lettuce, parmesan cheese, chicken, and crouton had dressing on it. And I even ordered an extra dressing! As always, service was great. Such friendly, chatty, kind folks work here. Expect to be greeted when you walk in and get a friendly "bye, see you later" when you leave. BTW, my family loved their food, "delicious" is what they said :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This might be a Yelp thing or a me thing but the review above erased my previous review. I was in to The Toss Up on Friday, June 13 and had a great experience. The Thai salad was so flavorful and full of everything fresh and crunchy--veggies and peanuts. We were greeted warmly by the owner who explained the menu to us in detail. My friend and I split the spaghetti and meatballs and I can't recall the last time I had pasta this good. This first experience was just soooo positive it's why I came back. I wanted another delicious meal and wanted my family to know what I've been raving about.

    It's a lazy salad day.

On this grey So Cal day I was feeling too lazy to make my own salad. I was hungry, my bestie had time to spare so we headed to The Toss Up for a soup and salad lunch. I love when I'm greeted upon entering a restaurant, it's an acknowledgement that creates a positive experience right from the start. We approached the counter and placed our orders. Simple, straight forward and despite a tiny error that was easily fixed, the process was painless. Our salads, soups and beverages arrived and we dug in. My Baja salad was super yummy - the creamy jalapeño dressing was so good - it has a kick and I loved it. Her Santorini salad was equally yummy and both of us agreed we'd order them again. The broccoli cheddar soups were hot and tasty and we loved that the cheddar tasted authentic - not one of those afterthought soups thrown on a menu to check a box. The chunks of broccoli were perfect in size and the only thing I would have liked to have was a sprinkling of pepper. The service was superb. Friendly and personable which makes the experience even better. These days I don't mind paying more for food if the service is top notch. Would have liked the soda to be accessible for refills. You're given a plastic lid to cover your bowl for leftovers - we didn't have anything to take home, so the lids went unused and became waste. Overall, the menu is loaded with options and coupled with the service, I would visit again. Oh! Almost forgot to mention the R&B music playing in the background! That made the visit memorable. Keep on, keeping on The Toss Up!

This has been on a list of places to try so my mom & I were welcomed in by at least four employees with a warm, "hello". The space was clean and tidy which we always love. It being our first time, Rick, the owner explained the menu in its entirety. We ordered these items to go: - Clam Chowder - Mandarin Salad ( the lettuce to topping ratio needs to be fixed- TOO MUCH LETTUCE ) - Loaded Baked Potato While we waited we able to try : Tomato bisque Clam chowder Tortilla soup Broccoli & cheddar soup Pasta salad Açaí ALL WERE DELICIOUS!! Thank you for options & we will be back !! Customer service, tasty food and genuine smiles was all we needed that day!!

If you're looking for a spot that proves "healthy" doesn't have to mean boring, Toss Up Salad Restaurant delivers the goods. Think fresh, seasonal ingredients, vibrant flavors, and a chef-driven menu that puts real creativity into greens, grains, and proteins. The vibe is clean and modern--bright enough for a lunch meet-up, but relaxed enough to feel like your new go-to. Service? Friendly, efficient, and you can tell the staff knows their menu well. The Toss Up Cobb Salad is a must (loaded, balanced, and oh-so-satisfying), but don't sleep on their Thai, Mandarin Baja, or Chicken Caesar salads--each one packs its own flavor punch. If you're craving something heartier, the Baked Potato Bowl hits that comfort food note without weighing you down. And yes, they've got soups worth exploring too--perfect sides to round out the meal. Some might say prices run a bit high for "just a salad," but the quality, portion size, and chef-led touch make it worth the splurge. At the end of the day, Toss Up nails the combo of healthy, responsibly sourced, and seriously tasty.

Toss up Cob salad without dressing and a little tiny sliver of avocado.

Ordered a couple of salads and a bowl for lunch today that cost me over $90.00. Gave everyone their food to find that my salad was the only one without dressing. LOST My appetite after that. What my salad did come with was the skin of a skinny sliver of avocado which wasn't like the way they show on the menu with several slices. I don't know how they expected us to eat our salads without any utensils or napkins. Do they think we're animals? I will NEVER spend my hard earned money there EVER again!!!

What a beautiful location! This spot has been open for three years and offers fresh salads made just the way you like them, using top-quality ingredients. The service is excellent, and the interior is modern, clean, and inviting. Parking is convenient, and there's also outdoor seating available. I stopped by for lunch, placed my order, and it was ready in no time despite a nice little crowd. The food was fantastic! I tried the chicken Caesar salad and the tortilla soup--both were absolutely delicious. They also have a kids' menu, and you can check out the menu in the photos. This place is a must-try!

We had two people ahead of us but we didn't wait too long to get our drinks. The workers were nice when we explained it was our first time here and needed guidance. The cafe was clean and I liked the natural wood slabs for the tables and benches. Felt like it fit the theme of natural sugar cane drinks. They don't add any sugar to it so you know you are getting all natural sugar cane liquid. The price is a bit on the high side and $3 for no ice was shocking. Once we received our drinks, I realized they fill at least half the cup with ice and do not top off. For about $7 and up, that's expensive water... My friend got the ginger sugar cane and for my review, I decided to get the natural sugar cane. It was good, tasted natural, and the ginger version wasn't overpowering with the ginger taste. If anything, it balanced the sweetness of the sugar cane. I definitely recommend ginger sugar cane over regular sugar cane.

Super unique flavors I've never seen before like Ube and Strawberry Acai, Mango, Passionfruit, Cocao, and more! 5/5!!! My base was Coconut, Strawberry Acai, and Ube: Coconut was my favorite! So refreshing, amazing flavor, and super thick, almost like a paste? Now the Ube, actually tastes identical to the Magnolia Ube ice cream--identical, but with a cloudier texture! Bc of that, I wouldn't get it again bc I prefer a more refreshing flavor when I eat smoothie bowls, but it's so good! The first time a Ube flavor food, ACTUALLY tastes like Ube, super impressed! The strawberry tastes and has the consistency of a strawberry slushy, slightly icy--again good! But I wouldn't get it again, it'd be better as a smoothie. You order at the screen and your order is ready for pickup at the front. Super easy! There's two seating areas, which were free when we came on a weekday at noon.

My go-to order is a simple guarana bowl with granola on the bottom and top, bananas, and extra honey. When everything is fresh, it's honestly one of the best açaí bowls around. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is that the quality can be a little inconsistent at times. Occasionally the granola doesn't taste as fresh (or maybe they switch to a different kind), and since it's such a big part of the bowl, it noticeably affects the overall flavor and texture. That level of inconsistency is disappointing for a place I've supported so consistently over the years. I usually avoid leaving negative reviews because I do want to support this business, but it's been hard to ignore the change in consistency. I was on a solo lunch and looking forward to the puffs! To say they are "perfect" seems insufficient. They were fried incredibly well, hot, crunchy, tasty, but never greasy. And these little puffs were filled with minced beef, potatoes, and seasoning! For my main dish, I chose the dragon noodles (pad thai) with chicken. All the veggies in the dish were cooked perfectly, nothing too mushy, just the right amount of crunch/bite to the cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. And the chicken was chunky!
