Blackened fish sandwich with truffle fries

The ambiance was nice. While it is rather small venue, we didn't feel like we were trapped - probably because of the 'open-air' setup around the bar counter section. The service was good - our server (forgot his name) was energetic, friendly, and attentive. Three of us ordered different drinks and main dishes - I enjoyed Blackened Fish Sandwich.

Fantastic all around this place has such a beachy, relaxing vibe. Definitely recommend grabbing a seat on the rooftop. The arugula beet salad was so good I almost asked the chef for the recipe. The crudo was flavorful, and the shrimp tacos were just as delicious! Service was great too! IDE deff come back

Beautiful rooftop atmosphere! And the food is absolutely so savory and delicious and well presented. The beet and arugula salad is a must and the single fin is a Felicia cocktail like a guava spritzer or something but man strong and delicious. Give me 6 of these and keep them coming.

Jebidiah H was our server upstairs and Trevor was the manager - they both were extremely kind and friendly. They really made us feel special! It was really fun to be on a second story in the riviera - very rare! We went for a little snack and outing. The ambiance is really cool - lots of different style tables and seatings. We got the shrimp cocktail and mud pie. I recommend both! The menu looks pretty good, I'd love to go back and try more.

Halibut on risotto, brussels sprouts, hangar steak with broccolini and rice

Fantastic meal in the heart of the Riviera Attended a private dinner party at the Beachlife Grotto. The entire downstairs seating area and bar, including a moderate sized private room were reserved. The place is a bit cramped and very loud. Open bar with servers handed out drinks directly or delivered to your table. Dinner included hangar steak and halibut. The steak was tender, medium rare--just how I like it. It came with rice and broccolini which were also good. The halibut looked appetizing but was a bit dry. However, the dish redeemed itself by having a squash risotto to die for. Crispy Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly and had a tinge of sweetness. All portions were sizable. Dessert was a mixed bag. The key lime tarts weren't too sweet and were indeed very tart. The cookies were fluffy and soft but were too bready like a muffin. There is an upstairs deck and gift shop. The only two bathrooms are upstairs. Service was good, nothing to complain about there. Parking is metered wherever you can find it. Overall, a very positive dining experience just 2 blocks from the beach and plenty of other eateries nearby. Will definitely be back

This is a fairly new restaurant, located right next door to Rockefeller. So it's in the Riviera Village. They are normally open in the afternoons during the week, but open in the mornings on the weekends for brunch. There are tables indoors and outdoors. Because it looked a little crowded indoors, I chose a table outdoors. They don't offer any specialty coffees, only drip. So I ordered one of those, with a side of oat milk, and an avocado toast. The toast actually tasted better than it looks. Looks pretty boring, but tasted good. It's more of a bar that serves food than a restaurant. The list of cocktails is longer than the brunch menu. Restrooms are upstairs, along with a general store where they sell merchandise. They also have additional, rooftop dining. If you don't want to take the stairs, there are elevators. Service was good and staff were friendly. I plan to return and try a cocktail next time.

We stopped by BeachLife Grotto around 3pm on a Saturday and caught their happy hour (3-5pm), which was a great way to get introduced to this restaurant - a solid menu of $5 and $10 items that actually feels worth ordering from. We started with the bread, which was excellent and easily one of the highlights. Warm, soft on the inside, and nicely toasted on the outside, it had that comforting balance of crisp edges and pillowy interior, and it was presented thoughtfully. From there we shared a mix of happy hour items: brussels sprouts, truffle fries, beef sticks, a Caesar salad, and my friend ordered the burger. Everything landed well for the price point. The brussels sprouts stood out - nicely crisped with good flavor - and the beef sticks were well grilled and satisfying. The burger was solid - your typical burger, but definitely good value - and the truffle fries were exactly what you want during happy hour. I also had a glass of white wine off the happy hour menu, which paired nicely with the food. What really pulled it all together was the vibe. It was lightly raining when we went, so the patio wasn't an option, but inside felt cozy and inviting. Jazz music was playing in the background, the service was friendly and on point, and the space itself is small but thoughtfully set up. It felt relaxed, welcoming, and easy to settle into. It definitely made me curious to come back and try more of the regular menu next time. Overall, it left a great impression - solid food, good energy, and a setting that fits the neighborhood well.

This restaurant is very much just okay! Not great, but I wouldn't necessarily it's terrible. All the restaurants in the riviera are a good experience because of the location however some are much better than others. I wouldn't recommend this one as one of the better options. First, the staff feels unorganized. Two servers came up to my date and I asking what we wanted to drink after we already ordered. This was while we were seated at a table we made a reservation for. Secondly, the menu is small. There is not a lot of options for entrees if you come here hungry. Personally, I didn't like the menu. We got an appetizer so we didn't appear rude and went over to Rebel Republic across the street to order our dinner afterwards. Third, the upstairs isn't comfortable. Some seating is comfortable if you get a couch, but the tables aren't at all. And no heaters were available despite is being freezing. As for the music, it was playing on a small speaker in the corner quietly. I felt like I was in someone's backyard. This place is new, and the two-story display viewing from the outside looks like it would be one of the best options for drinks and dinner on the riviera. I would suggest to look elsewhere like Riveria across the street. BeachLife is not what I expected. Lastly, I will say the country bread and Brussel sprouts are good! The food here isn't bad. But considering all else, I just don't think I'll be back.

Sourdough bread appetizer with butter, black sesame seed and other container had a vinaigrette

Went here for a nice evening out , was seated outside near heat lamp and protected by some plants but it was a little chilly even with my long wool coat on. But that was minor compared to the great time we had , Michael warmly greeted us and sat us quickly , Trevor came by to make sure all was well and our server came by to check on us all within a few minutes . We ordered drinks , and a different server brought them out , which showed to me that the team working there all support each other and help each other out. We ordered the sourdough bread that was phenomenal ,it remained hot even when we were sitting outside , the crust was crisp and the inside was so light and fluffy . Then we had a beet and arugula salad , also amazing as it was made with 3 different variations of beets . It was so unique in the way it was presented. Last we had salmon , grilled, not knowing it would be "Ala carte " , literally . No garnish, on a small salad plate , just a grilled piece of salmon it was almost comical . I only have a picture of the bread .

Huge shout out to Sarina and Jedediah for taking care of my husband, myself and our small daughter for my husband's birthday dinner! Back in the summer of 2024 we had a small incident which led us to not be able to enjoy our time at beachlife as we had to leave early. We have been meaning to come back ever since and we finally did this past month! We sat on the rooftop, which is absolutely gorgeous. Great views of the PV Hill and very relaxing beach vibes up there! We ordered many things, but a few callouts to what we enjoyed the most. The sourdough bread starter is really delicious, we enjoyed our Mai Tai cocktails as well! For a main, you cannot go wrong with the Bronzino. It was absolutely divine! We ate, drink, and relaxed for a few hours on the patio, and we were well taken care of and never rushed. The staff is very warm and welcoming, the vibe is trendy and definitely gives you the feeling as if you're on vacation. If you are looking to celebrate a special event or just have a fun Friday night out this spot can accommodate all. We can't wait to visit again!

We had an absolutely fantastic event here. Can't recommend this place enough. We were on the upstairs patio for our private event. The space was gorgeous and the view is stunning. The staff could not have been more gracious, friendly or helpful - from the event planner to the bartenders. This was seamless. The drinks were beautiful and the spread of food was just perfect for this late afternoon cocktail gathering. I can't wait to go back for dinner and to host more events here!

Our host, Michael, deserves a Best in Service award for how patient and kind he was with my energetic little ones!!

After 30 more minutes most of our order came out with the exception of the garlic bread. I was told that it takes a significant amount of time to make and asked if i wanted something else instead. I felt an hour for two burritos was excessive so declined adding anything else. Moments later my bread appeared. It took a full hour and some change to receive our order which I thought was unreasonable, especially since at this point we were the only patrons. Overall: Food was alright, reasonably priced, and portions were aligned with the price. However, I would recommend ordering ahead or anticipate a long wait time. I was told I'd need to pay extra for it since I didn't select it during the online order process. Fair enough in theory... but it caught me off guard, especially since there's an open salsa bar when you dine in. It wasn't a huge deal, but it felt a little nickel-and-dime-ish for something that's usually a given at places like this. I'll chalk it up to a policy thing more than anything, but it did take away from an otherwise solid experience. All that to say--I still like this place and will probably be back (because, let's be honest, the food's good). I'll just skip the online ordering next time and go the in-person route.

I've only had the pleasure of having the following items below, but I'll be back in the coming years to try more. - Calamari [7.7/10]: regardless of what size you order, the portion is generous. This place doesn't overdue it with the batter and lets the flavor the fresh squid shine - which I adore. Only giving this dish its rating because there are a few Italian spots in Torrance that have my heart when it comes to the best calamari. - Fish Tacos [8.5/10]: Every bite gives a nice crunch of both batter and fish. I've had unpleasant experiences where I've had pockets of crispy batter, here the fish tacos are so great it actually doesn't need much support from lemon and/or tartar sauce. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Admittedly my cup could have used a touch of salt. I would have liked a bigger portion for what I paid for, but if you're in the mood for something hot to compliment your fried seafood - this is worth getting. This is also featured on the happy hour menu for $5 - Garlic Fries [10/10]: My favorite bite from this place so far. Not on the happy hour menu, but 100% worth getting and eating with your fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Perfect amount of seasoning and that white wet sauce on top is so so so addicting. The unsung hero of my most recent visit was Jose over at Station 20. In addition to taking my order, he single handedly called out orders for everyone by the dining the area during the end of happy hour rush. A whole wave of customers came in less than 10 mins I placed my order so I can only imagine how overwhelming things were on the service side of things. For my most recent visit, most of my order came in and my garlic fries came in last. I could tell there was a mix up in the kitchen, but Jose apologized and said a new order would be ready for me in less than 5. Definitely worth the delay/wait imo. Food is great. Seating is limited. Customer service is superb. But once you fish your food, you gotta take a long walk along the pier. It's a wonderful way to rejuvenate and make sure the quality seafood digests well. Can't wait to explore more of the menu, including the happy hour drinks.

I've been coming to Quality Seafood for the past couple of years, usually on Fridays for fish…read moretacos, and I've ordered the same fish taco and shrimp taco combination 40 to 50 times. It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.

I haven't been to Riviera Village in years since I had a bf who lived in Redondo but had always loved this part of Redondo as I think it's pretty mellow. My things have changed but still mellow compared to other beach cities. Sat at the bar where I was served by the most knowledgeable bartender ever - Kenneth! Cocktails were great as was the smash burger. Will definitely go back if in the area. Cool spot!

It's one of those "low-key hidden but worth finding" spots. Don't let the location fool you! I went on a Tuesday during the week when it wasn't busy at all -- nice and chill vibes. But babyyy once 6 PM hit? Dinner time activated. The crowd definitely started rolling in and you could feel the energy shift. So just know traffic picks up later in the evening if you're planning a visit. Now let's get into what matters: The staff? Super attentive and kind. I love when servers check on you just enough without hovering. And the food came out HOT. Not warm. Not "it's been sitting." I'm talking steaming, fresh, straight-to-the-table heat -- which is exactly how a crab boil should hit. Portions were generous because I was overly stuffed and still had plenty left over for the next day (which honestly might be the best part). Nothing like reheating a seafood boil and running it back. Thank you for hosting me and my guest -- we had such a good experience. I'll definitely be back for my next crab boil fix lol

We waited for 30 minutes to be seated even though plenty of tables were open, waited another 30 minutes to place an order, waited another 40 minutes until the food came out. At least the decor was "cute" pretty standard for a seafood boil and had TVs. We got 3 pounds of shrimp with the flavor mix and the spiciest level of heat in addition to some Cajun fries. The seafood was so bland and the fries were so dry with little to no seasoning.
