Glad I dined here before reading the reviews as we had a wonderful time with only a couple of minor glitches. We arrived with a reservation and were seated immediately in a comfortable booth. We dined on a Monday evening and, at 7 pm the restaurant was largely empty. However it got busier within an hour. Our enthusiastic waiter was very attentive and patient as we perused the large menu.for starters I had the huge Prawn Cocktail (which was very filling) and my guest had the Sweet and Spicy Calamari drizzled in sweet chili glaze topped with cilantro. Both dishes were excellently prepared, looked and tasted great. I had the Snake River Trout that came with two sides. The fish was really nice. I haven't had trout in years and this preparation was utterly perfect. The menu states "Cultivated in Idaho's Snake River, our fresh, flame-grilled trout is free from genetic engineering, antibiotics, & hormones." That was a big plus for me. Our waiter forgot to bring the requested tartar sauce but, actually, the fish probably tasted better without it. Never knew we had such a decent seafood restaurant at Del Amo Mall. Credit card option will have fees so be warned and prepare cash or debit cards. Food: Delicious fresh seafood menu. Wide varieties of menu will be perfect even for someone that may like meat over seafood. For appetizers we tried poke nachos and we loved it! The crispy wrap chips went really well with the spicy sweet soy sauce poke. Loved the Parmesan fish and the tomato based mixed seafood pasta. They even have kids menu and the coloring sheets. Kids loved the noodles and fish and chips but did not like the cooked veggies with rosemary. Our kids are small so the fact they enjoyed most of the food is a plus. Complementary sourdough bread was also great. Next time I want to order soup or soupy dish so we can dip that freshly baked fluffy bread. They have awesome kids' meal options that are both delicious, good sized, and very reasonably priced - perfect for kids. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. We sat outside on their patio, which was nice. I prefer the outside seating than the inside seating (from previous experience). My daughter had the Premium Fresh Fish meal ($10). We wanted the Icelandic Cod but unfortunately, they said they did not have that portion for the kids' meal that day (which was odd). The kid's meal comes with milk or water, oyster crackers, fries or veggies and a scoop of ice cream. I appreciate it when the kid's meal at restaurants offers veggies instead of only fries. I also appreciate it when restaurants have healthy options instead of just chicken nuggets or a burger. This was a total plus in my book. I got the Poke Nachos ($16) for my lunch, which was fresh and flavorful. I just wished there was more poke. We also got the Crispy Beer-Battered Fish & Chips ($21), which was a good-sized portion and was said to be good. The fish was also cod, which they indicated they had for the fish and chips. Especially being that omitting something like King Crab without informing the customer is weird ethically, as I assume the price shouldn't be the same. Nonetheless, it was delicious! I also really enjoyed the calamari and the sweet/sour sauce it was in! It was all scrumptious. Overall it was a great dinner and I'd dine here again. This was the summer special and I got it To Go. The "turf" was a very nice medium rare. Very juicy. The "surf" I wish was better shrimp. They were a little smaller than I'm used to for a restaurant. The sauce however was very flavorful and cream. The potatoes were crispy on certain bits and smooth on others and made it a perfect texture blend. In my Nov2024 post, I noted that a 2.75% surcharge was added on all credit card payments. At that time, the Torrance store was the only location charging this fee. Effective c.Jan2025, all MB Grille locations began charging this processing fee for credit card payments. There is no fee for cash or debit card payments. (The MB Grille website acknowledges this surcharge.) I had a chat with the Torrance store's manager. I was curious about the rationale behind this business decision. It was explained that the choice to impose a surcharge was an attempt to defer increases to menu prices. They were also limiting the cost of credit card processing to those who choose the convenience of credit cards. The Torrance store was the first to begin this practice because it was the first to change over to their new credit card processing company. Today we had lunch at MB Grille. The server was friendly and helpful. We ordered two custom combinations, one with scampi and fillet mignon, and the other with lobster and New York strip steak. I started with a clam chowder, but unfortunately it contained a piece of plastic in it. Still unsure what the source of this contaminant was after speaking to a manager. She offered that the prep area may have been a source. The manager offered to make new soup but I declined today. They normally have a great clam chowder so I chalked it up to human error. I have notoriety among family and friends for finding strange things in my food. The restaurant was rather empty for a Saturday afternoon. The only times I have ever been here have been with large groups. The servers have always been good. Their bread is delicious. We ended up getting another loaf before our appetizers and entrees showed up. The three entrees i have ordered thus far have been the jambalaya, the salmon oscar, and the fish special. I enjoyed all of them. What I will mention about the fish special One thing I would not get from this place is the sushi. If you're in the mood for it, it's available, but don't expect it to be the best you could find in the area. This is where their is room for improvement if they choose to pursue this. Parking: The area directly by the restaurant (which is the west part of the mall) gets full fast. To avoid circling for an hour, park at the structure by Nordstrom and walk through the mall. The menu is pretty robust, and chalked full of dishes i think I would enjoy. Torrance Food Crawl #435 Market Broiler's MB Grille opened their first restaurant in Riverside CA in 1989, and the chain has since expanded to seven restaurants here in Southern California. The menu has a wide selection of seafood items and some non-seafood choices for those who aren't in the mood for seafood. The best item I've had was the Fisherman's Stew. In a slightly spicy tomato broth, it was packed with seafood, lobster, clams, crab, calamari, mussels, and linguini. Very tasty. Sometimes, I've found restaurants take liberties with the amount of seafood in a typical fisherman's stew, but not here. The portion size was large with lots of seafood. I was hungry that day and finished it off, but I imagine someone with a smaller stomach might find themselves taking some of it home, which isn't bad. Another item I liked, Harvest of the Sea, was not a soup but a linguini dish with various seafood items and a collection of mussels on the side. Compared to the stew, this was a more normal portion-sized item and an appealing combination of Italian and seafood elements. I've had numerous other items, and they've all been good. Service has always been excellent. The interior décor is freshly modern and offers a welcoming feeling. read more
