This was my first time dining at Mychal's. Mychal's is a restaurant that represents inclusion, skill building, and above all community initiative. The servers are the star of the location. They are friendly, attentive, and thorough when working with their customers. The inside of the building is beautiful. There is a cute little gift shop, art hung on the walls, and nice warm lighting. I ordered the chicken panini and it's had both a robust crunch and multiple cheese pulls when I bit into it. I have had this place saved on my phone for a minute and I'm so happy I was finally able to try it. I chose to try their French toast coffee with "less sweetness" and I really enjoyed it! I was really able to taste the coffee, and it had a touch of sweetness to it. It felt like a very well balanced coffee without getting too sweet like some coffee shops tend to do. The service was very friendly and welcoming, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this cafe. It was also packed when I went which is always great to see! I definitely will be back soon to try their food. The parking is located in the back, otherwise there is street parking on Artesia and side streets. What a gift to our South Bay community. The mission this place stands for, the hardworking staff, the love it's sharing, and oh my goodness THE FOOD. I had the BLTA and the pozole soup--both were out of this world. The freshness and the flavors were incredible. I can't wait to come back and try other items off their menu. I also got a giant brownie and sprinkle cookie to bring home to my family and they didn't last long and seconds were asked for. I really love the aesthetic of the restaurant too--it's beautiful. The vibrant art on the walls, the unique light sculptures on the ceiling, and the spaciousness--all so inviting and uplifting. I also really love the merchandise they sell. Got me the corned beef hash, and that was a lot of food, they use really thoughtful healthy ingredients and bf altered his to tater tots, if you're use to canned cornbeef, sodium rich foods then you stepped in the wrong resto. If you are health concious then yes this is a place who cares about employing individuals with disabilities, tho i would call it folks with service the community as one. Service is not bad, but not a place that requires button up and fancy dresses. Better be comfy in a beach attire with sandals is ok. Mychal's Cafe is a gem! Bright, airy, and a great spot for doing a little work, meeting with friends, or treating yourself to some yummy food! The service is friendly, prompt, and caring, as Mychal's staff includes developmentally disabled folks learning new skills, and making some of the most consistently good food in the area. The waffle was perfectly savory/sweet, and served with butter and syrup. However, the breakfast sandwich was the star! Melty mozzarella, pesto, sundried tomatoes on perfectly grilled sourdough, served with a cup of wonderfully acidic tomato soup with a nice drizzle of balsamic. I also see they're applying to serve alcohol, so I see some mimosas in my future! Please make this part of your rotation, if not for the great work they do with the community, but because it's really a great spot to eat! read more

If I could give Mychal's 6-stars, I would. I love everything this cafe stands for -- empowering people with disabilities and giving them skills in life. We came here on a whim on a Saturday and it was such a great experience. We brought our rambunctious toddler and he was greeted warmly by the staff. The restaurant itself is really large and clean. It was a very family friendly cafe with lots of seating. After reading the few negative reviews, it's clear the people didn't really understand the mission and purpose of the cafe. Yes, you need to be a little more understanding with some of the staff, but if you treat them with kindness and compassion, they return it many times over. The breakfast burrito was large and very filling. The breakfast sandwich was made really well. And the blueberry pancakes were absolutely delicious. And the service was top-notch. We'll be adding Mychal's to our normal rotation and continue to support this incredible cafe. There's a big parking lot in the back of the cafe so parking is super easy. There's a back patio area that's really nice on a beautiful day. read more

This restaurant has good food and an even better mission of employing students with developmental disabilities to give them an opportunity to learn and develop the skills needed to help them feel empowered and included. We tried the breakfast burrito with avocado and their green smoothie, both of which were satisfying, freshly made and tasty. The tortilla was expertly toasted and inside, the eggs fluffy and well-seasoned. Be sure to try the house made salsa for an extra layer of spice and flavor. Quality was great and the space itself is large and open. They have free parking in a spacious lot behind the restaurant. They also have a patio in the back with additional seating. Mychal's Cafe is amazing. Although it has been on the neighborhood for years, I never ventured in until today. I was looking for brunch places with gluten-free options for a visiting friend and Mychal's came up. The food is delicious, ambiance is light and uplifting, and the staff is very friendly. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage (excellent flavor and the pop of green onions really lifted up the heaviness of the rest of the burrito). I particularly loved the salsa that has bright fresh flavors and a very mild heat on the back end. My friend had Mykie's Scramble with bacon, gluten-free bread, and a side of tomato bisque. Her favorites were the jam for the bread, the potatoes in the scramble, and the bisque itself (very herb-y). I also had a French Toast Latte with Oat Milk that was on the sweet side, but expectedly so given that it is called a French Toast Latte. We've used Mychal's printing before and happy to see this new cafe. My family and I went for breakfast on Father's Day. All the food was good. We ordered a soup du jour, breakfast quesadilla (yum!), two breakfast burritos (good-- recommend w bacon), breakfast sandwich w pesto (ok). Yes, service can be a little bit friendlier but we also understand with some people on the spectrum, interacting with people can be challenging. Overall the place is super cute, food is good, and we enjoyed our experience. I would, however, like to make one recommendation-- please created some cute and colorful wall signage saying "Menus" above the menu holder. As first timers, it took us a few minutes to find the food menu only after the cashier pointed it out to us. read more

They have a food variety of breakfast foods and a good assortment of pastries/baked items. We got two muffins and they were delicious. I had the carrot one and tastes just like carrot cake. My daughter had the açaí bowl. The portions are large and my American breakfast came fresh and hot! We need more places like Mychal's Cafe!!! Their mission is to provide a supportive, inclusive environment to train and employ people with developmental disabilities at their business and gain the independent living skills to be successful. As an educator in special education, I've seen many vocational programs striving to do something similar, but the students are oftentimes doing minimal work. Not here. They are doing everything from taking orders, cooking, serving and busing tables, all with smiles and care. I've had the latte, which is only $5, the Breakfast Hash ($15), the Chicken Pesto Panini with side salad ($14), their almond bar and chocolate chip cookies and everything was absolutely delicious, fresh and made with love. The cafe is big and spacious with plenty of seating inside and out back on the patio. It's filled with student art work, modern lighting and really pretty rose installations on the ceiling to buffer the noise. Vibe out to the playlist of a good mix of new hits. They also carry a lot of cool merchandise made in Mychal's Printing & Embroidery shop from apparel, bags, cards, and tumblers. Street parking was pretty easy to find here too. Everyone is very helpful. Called and ordered over the phone for pick up since I needed to continue my work day. Burritos are good in size and ingredients. Went with the breakfast burrito and you can choose the ingredient. Added bacon because it's bacon. Add the hot sauce for a little kick. Didn't get anything to drink this time around but maybe on the next stop. There is ample seating inside and patio outside. It seems like a nice place to sit and enjoy your cafe. Wow! This is a special place. It is a large beautiful cafe on Artesia. There is a small parking lot in the back and there is some street parking. You order at a counter and then find a seat where you can place your number. The cafe is very casual. It has finished cement floors and lots of art work. Everything that we had was delicious - the sandwiches, the salads, the scrambles and more. My gf egg sandwich was super well prepared and the accompanying salad was fresh and tasty. My LO loved her scramble as did my SIL. The coffees are also outstanding. I love the mission of this restaurant. Been wanting to try this place because their mission is so wonderful but I was really impressed with the service and quality of food. There was a line out the door when we arrived. The staff were super efficient. We placed our order within no more than five minutes. Then the food arrived. The sandwiches were huge with quality ingredients. It came with a small soup which was delicious as well, all for $15!! The cafe and outdoor patio were so cute! It had a wonderful, warm neighborhood feel. I got there about 30 min before closing since I had just found this place online an hour before and rushed over! Everyone was so kind and the food was delicious! They even have a little store you can shop at (I forgot to take pics). The restaurant was clean and so calming. They even have outdoor seating and parking In the back. I thought the breakfast hash was hashbrowns and it was totally my mistake. I asked and they were super kind to me and not impatient! Definitely have to come back.
