Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you go out for brunch. The sandwiches were amazing, the potatoes were perfectly crispy, and not a single bite disappointed. But what really earned the 5 stars was how welcoming they were to our pup. They brought out a plate of chicken just for her, and judging by the speed at which it disappeared, she highly recommends it too. The Baseline: For a sit down semi-casual restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and value of the overall dining experience. Food: Portion size... you will not go hungry. Quality is great but it is a big menu which always scares me a bit so I will go on what I ordered. #1- Fish tacos were deep fried battered with a nice meaty portion of white fish. The slaw and sauce on the taco was flavorful and nicely balanced. The beans and rice were a nice accompaniment but it stays at nice. The salsa that came with the chips was really good on flavor and thickness with a flavor combo I have never experienced and in a great way. This is a great fish tacos plate. #2- The Philly Cheese Steak was a good solid sandwich with jalapeños miked in for the pepper/onion combo. It is a good take but if you are a Philly cheesesteak purest you will not find that with this version. The size of the sandwich was huge and I could only down one half. The meat was well cooked beef shaved and layered well. The cheese had a nice melt so you will like this version of a cheese steak. The fries... they are "bag fries" but well prepared. I got a portion of their BBQ sauce which made them better, but I love fries so I want to see fresh cut fries. Service: Great service for a late in the evening stop in. The restaurant was waning down but we were treating like it was gearing up. Ambiance: Part diner / Part SoCal Brunch place vibe. It is in the corner of a local motel in Manhattan Beach and has a good amount of parking. Restaurant is relatively new and is clean/well kept. read more

Haven't been since Zion closed down to fire, several years back..They updated the inside, has a casual bent to it with 6 big screens, nice addition, a beautiful patio, that sits maybe more than the inside does..I ordered the chicken parmigiana, it was ok, my wife the Tri tip sandwich which was good, priced fair.. our server Allie, was very nice & did a good job.. Our first visit. They did a nice job updating the place while keeping the locals vibe. I liked the lengthy, easy to read menu. I chose a blackened mahi sandwich and fries while my wife had a fried chicken salad that was supposed to include Brussels sprouts. Her salad looked limp and there were no Brussels to be seen. Somehow she still claimed to like the salad. My sandwich was 85% bread. My fries were not the kind I like at all. There was a lot of attention on the eye appeal and the crispy outside, but the inside is just mush. I did enjoy my $9 vanilla milkshake. I should have ordered from the breakfast items and will come back someday to do so, but never again for lunch. read more

Location is slightly hidden, and signage is black and white, lower to the ground and easy to pass by! But there was enough free parking, though shared with the motel (Seahorse Inn) next door. Patio seating looked inviting...yet abutted the parking lot (which was a "no go" for me--I don't like exhaust and loud radios with my meals, usually!). Inside had limited seating: ~ 5 or 6 two-tops and then several four-tops that could be pushed together for larger groups. Being sat and getting a menu was quite quick at 12:30pm on a Wednesday! I ordered a side of Tater Tots, extra crispy; and the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta with garlic bread. Also water and Diet Pepsi. Drinks came quickly, but were only refilled upon my request...servers didn't maintain regular check-ins or monitoring of my water and soda. Tots were extra crispy and enough for an entree size--DELICIOUS! Ask for a side of mayo too...get all the savory, crispy goodness you deserve. Worth the $6.50 price. "Cajun" was a bit of a let down, containing just 4 medium-sized (20s?) shrimp that were slightly blackened on one side and a little rubbery on the other. Chicken chunks were also slightly blackened but relatively bland. The Parmesan/Garlic cream sauce was also average for the name and description. A liberal heaping of black pepper still didn't spice this dish up enough to even move the heat dial close to "Cajun for white people"... #SorryNotSorry. The garlic bread was OK too, a hunk of ciabatta with salamandered Parmesan cheese and butter. Not worth $24.95. I paid for everything with the InKind app (prepaid $$ to an app that supports new and unique eateries around the country!), which made check-out very simple and self-initiated once I got the bill. Input the receipt's #, choose pay, et voíla, complête! Overall, the menu had a lot of options and seemed "American" in most of its cuisine. Others eating sandwiches/hamburgers with a huge helping of side French Fries made me jealous for something other than my bland, non-spicy, average pasta. Maybe next time. Without an actual view of the ocean or other perks to this busy thoroughfare-side eatery, $40+ tip for this meal seemed awfully inflated for the average-ness of the service and the entree. read more

We were looking for a place to meet our daughter for breakfast in Manhattan Beach before she hit the road to return home. The criteria was not our typical list. We needed a place that was open at 9 am, took reservations, and had ample parking. You might be surprised how hard that was to find. But we found Local Kitchen and were very happy. It's not trendy, there are no ocean views. But it met the above criteria and then some. The restaurant was clean and attractive. The menu had something for everyone (though for some reason no poached eggs - water, eggs??). We each had something different, three out of four meals were very good and the fourth just OK. The servers were very engaging and friendly. Service was a little slow, partly because they only recently opened, and partly due to a slight accident in the kitchen. It didn't matter - we had a very nice, comfortable and relaxed visit with our daughter and we would definitely go back. read more

Local Kitchen is usually pretty good, and I really like the Torrance location. I've enjoyed the pulled pork sliders, mac and cheese, the sartori caesar and a few other items, so I was disappointed by my experience today. I ordered the Bellagio Chicken Caesar , and honestly, it was awful! The salad itself was very small, but it was topped with a huge piece of breaded chicken that was about 12x6 inches and completely overwhelmed the dish. The chicken was served piping hot on top of the romaine, so by the time I got it back to work just a few blocks away, the lettuce underneath was already wilted. The dressing was also placed inside the container with the hot food, so it separated. No matter how much I tried to shake or mix it, it would not come back together. There was also no charred lemon included, just two other dressings that had also split. When I tried to cut the chicken, most of the butter-soaked breading fell right off. The whole dish tasted bland, greasy, and almost rancid, with an overwhelming butter flavor. Nothing about it was appealing. I ended up tossing the butter-flavored wilted Caesar salad. read more

We like to come here to support the local businesses, but I have to say and I hope the owner reads this, the waitstaff needs improvement. The nonchalant attitude of specifically one server who has zero care of urgency is just too much and this happens each time we go here. We had to beg for any coffee refills - order always gets messed up, they know this place gets packed on the weekend and you better have some staff who can handle it. Breakfast shouldn't take over an hour for something simple. I like the place but the owner really needs to be on site to management the staff a bit. read more

I checked out a new spot with my husband on a Sunday around 1pm and was excited to try it. We were quoted a 20-minute wait, which was totally fine. There were quite a few open tables, so I assumed they might've been catching up or short-staffed. A couple of parties ahead of us ended up waiting longer than we did, even as tables opened up, which was a bit confusing. We were seated after about 35 minutes, and then it took a while before anyone came to greet us. At that point, there were only about six tables occupied and at least three servers on the floor, so the delay stood out. That said, the food made a good impression. We ordered the Monte Cristo and the mahi sandwich--both were tasty and came in generous portions. The menu is huge, and there's a lot I'd still love to try. I love Local Kitchen's Torrance location. When it opens in Manhattan Beach, I was beyond ecstatic. We can now walk to the restaurant! The menu selections are just as expansive. The food is still tasty. We had Monte Cristo and meatloaf sandwich. When you get there, be sure to get tater tots, you won't be disappointed. Very delicious breakfast that I split with a friend because the food is ginormous. We shared the breakfast burrito with the addition of crispy fried chicken. So good. LOVE this place! The food is amazing and the server's are all super attentive! Josue was our server today and he was just delightful. The staff truly cares about you if there is a wait time and they strive to make you comfortable while you wait. The owner of this establishment cares about his patrons. We contacted him via the restaurant website and his response was immediate. I love that they have a large menu, as it suits varied tastes and moods. AND they have "Breakfast All Day" with fresh squeezed orange juice in their mimosas. The breakfast burrito is amazing...fresh and delicate in it's taste, with an amazing cheese sauce to dip into as you like (don't skip it! ha) Serge's Chicken is an amazing entree. The portions are generous and how great is it to get to bring leftovers home for seconds?! This is a family run business and you get that vibe with how upbeat the staff is. They have a huge restaurant in Torrance. We love the intimacy of this space and the indoor/outdoor experience... there's really nothing like it in MB. An amazing array of different foods, especially comfort food favorites. I could eat there for months and never repeat. The helpings are quite generous so be prepared to eat leftovers for days. Lots of servers so the service was friendly and timely. Their location is convenient, with easy parking, but unfortunately they are right on a very busy street. They tried hard to reduce the car noise with barriers and music, which worked for us, but is not for everyone. Plus, they have a poor selection of vegetarian options, but hey it is an old fashioned diner. read more

I'm from South Florida and this place gives off Old South Florida vibes. First, they took over the diner of the "Seahorse Inn" and the sign still stands. So does the 50's rock decor. There's an outdoor patio with heatlamps and the night sky. And the playlists are awesome! All the great 70's songs of my childhood! The food is served in Cheesecake Factory portions but with more flavor. And the prices are low! The staff is friendly and laid back.
