Tater Tots (extra crispy) with a side of ketchup.
    Bob L.

Location is slightly hidden, and signage is black and white, lower to the ground and easy to pass by! But there was enough free parking, though shared with the motel (Seahorse Inn) next door. Patio seating looked inviting...yet abutted the parking lot (which was a "no go" for me--I don't like exhaust and loud radios with my meals, usually!). Inside had limited seating: ~ 5 or 6 two-tops and then several four-tops that could be pushed together for larger groups. Being sat and getting a menu was quite quick at 12:30pm on a Wednesday! I ordered a side of Tater Tots, extra crispy; and the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta with garlic bread. Also water and Diet Pepsi. Drinks came quickly, but were only refilled upon my request...servers didn't maintain regular check-ins or monitoring of my water and soda. Tots were extra crispy and enough for an entree size--DELICIOUS! Ask for a side of mayo too...get all the savory, crispy goodness you deserve. Worth the $6.50 price. "Cajun" was a bit of a let down, containing just 4 medium-sized (20s?) shrimp that were slightly blackened on one side and a little rubbery on the other. Chicken chunks were also slightly blackened but relatively bland. The Parmesan/Garlic cream sauce was also average for the name and description. A liberal heaping of black pepper still didn't spice this dish up enough to even move the heat dial close to "Cajun for white people"... #SorryNotSorry. The garlic bread was OK too, a hunk of ciabatta with salamandered Parmesan cheese and butter. Not worth $24.95. I paid for everything with the InKind app (prepaid $$ to an app that supports new and unique eateries around the country!), which made check-out very simple and self-initiated once I got the bill. Input the receipt's #, choose pay, et voíla, complête! Overall, the menu had a lot of options and seemed "American" in most of its cuisine. Others eating sandwiches/hamburgers with a huge helping of side French Fries made me jealous for something other than my bland, non-spicy, average pasta. Maybe next time. Without an actual view of the ocean or other perks to this busy thoroughfare-side eatery, $40+ tip for this meal seemed awfully inflated for the average-ness of the service and the entree.

Brand new place on PCH in Manhattan Beach. Great breakfast spot. Large portion sizes and reasonable prices. Lots of parking. Ally was our server and was awesome! She was efficient and friendly. Inside seating fills up fast so we opted for the patio which was really nice. Breakfast nachos were good but too much for 1 person. The breakfast sandwich was delicious.

Come hungry because portion sizes are HUGE!!! I had the avocado toast and it had nice candied pecans on top . . Would have liked a little more avocado but it was delicious! Comes with either fruits or potatoes . . The fruits were delicious! Comes with scrambled eggs. There is indoor and outdoor seating with parking in the back . .

This place is a gem and I'd totally gatekeep this place but I won't be stingy. The food is amazing and the portion sizes are huge. I apologize for the messy picture but this is after I ate a LOT already! Don't let the image fool you. It was delicious! The coffee is tasty with nice big mugs and the service was fantastic. The music was nice, upbeat and comfortable. I'll definitely come back here.

Manhattan location for brunch, downtown Torrance for dinner! We love this company - they have the BEST service, kindest team. Both locations are comfortable and fun, exact same amazing food quality. We've never had a bad or mediocre plate here and we've tried probably 40% of the menu. Loving the diner vibes of this new location and especially love ICED LATTES AND MOCHA !!! Stoked on that. Fav new breakfast spot - thanks again guys!

Delicious! Great food. Wonderful and friendly service. Awesome ambiance and large portions. What an upgrade from the former restaurant that was here. They serve breakfast all day as well! I have a ample wine and beer selection, and a couple of signature cocktails. The decor inside is like a beachy relaxed bistro feel. We will definitely be back!

    Monte cristo

I checked out a new spot with my husband on a Sunday around 1pm and was excited to try it. We were quoted a 20-minute wait, which was totally fine. There were quite a few open tables, so I assumed they might've been catching up or short-staffed. A couple of parties ahead of us ended up waiting longer than we did, even as tables opened up, which was a bit confusing. We were seated after about 35 minutes, and then it took a while before anyone came to greet us. At that point, there were only about six tables occupied and at least three servers on the floor, so the delay stood out. That said, the food made a good impression. We ordered the Monte Cristo and the mahi sandwich--both were tasty and came in generous portions. The menu is huge, and there's a lot I'd still love to try. I get they just opened and I will definitely come back, just hoping they smooth out the flow of service next time!

    Monte Cristo & Meatloaf Sandwich

I love Local Kitchen's Torrance location. When it opens in Manhattan Beach, I was beyond ecstatic. We can now walk to the restaurant! The menu selections are just as expansive. The food is still tasty. We had Monte Cristo and meatloaf sandwich. When you get there, be sure to get tater tots, you won't be disappointed. The hotel that shares the parking lot is currently closed for renovation. Once it reopens, parking will be tight. There are plenty of street parking.

You can tell the chefs are dedicated to the craft. They're a 2025 bib gourmand restaurant and are hoping to aim for their first star, so their efforts into the decor, ambiance, and food shows (good luck!). The waitstaff/chefs were also very attentive. Mussels Tart - really delicious. Super unique and beautifully plated. No taste of fishiness or the ocean. Just overall a 5/5 dish that you must try. Beef tongue - I normally enjoy beef tongue thinly sliced at a Korean BBQ restaurant or coarsely chopped up in a street taco. They do it differently here. The beef tongue is one big cube. It's very flavorful and tender. Not as amazing as the mussels tart but still worth a try. Chili crab - this put them on the map. SUPER DELICIOUS. It's not what you'd expect from a creation called 'chili crab'. There's no shell to be seen and the crab meat is actually buried underneath. Scoop from the inside out. Tons of flavor and I wished the portion size was doubled. Lamb pappardelle - if you like lamb then you'll love this. Lots of different spices and flavors. It has a very deep flavor profile that makes you appreciate all the work and thought that went into designing this dish. I'd get this again also! Strawberry tiramisu - they brought this out for the birthday celebration. They prepared it in a gigantic bowl. Scooped out a generous portion and plated it right in front of us. I have a soft spot for tiramisu so I'd recommend this too. Best of luck on the Michelin star! I'd come back. 5/5

I really wanted to love this place. I read all the glowing…read morereviews and convinced myself the negative ones were probably just misunderstandings... but wow, I had it completely backwards. First, the restaurant itself is undeniably cute and cozy, tucked away in a corner of Hermosa Beach. Our first impression was honestly great, and we were excited to try it. Our reservation was at 5:00 PM, but when we arrived, the staff was still inside having what looked like a team huddle or group therapy session well past opening time. At first I thought maybe I got the hours wrong and they actually opened at 5:30. Nope -- 5:00 was correct. I understand pre-shift meetings happen. But maybe do the motivational speech at 4:50 instead of making customers stand outside after your posted opening time? They finally opened the doors around 5:10. Once seated, our server introduced himself by saying he was also one of the chefs, and apparently everyone dressed in white both cooks and serves. I didn't really understand the concept, but honestly, I don't care who brings the food as long as the food is good. These are what we ordered: SQUID -- This tasted like it had been marinated directly in seawater. Painfully salty. I genuinely did not understand the dish at all. Boiled squid with egg salad? Why? The portion was tiny, and we were hungry, so we basically used the mussels tart to dilute the salt enough to finish it. MUSSELS TART -- Actually delicious. No complaints here. BISTRO SALAD -- This was honestly shocking. It was SO sour that it was practically inedible. -- we literally take straight lemon shots every morning but this dish was hard to eat. This wasn't "bright acidity." This was weaponized vinegar. Bitter, aggressively sour, and tongue-numbing after one bite. We had to send it back because it was simply not edible. CABBAGE -- Flavor was good overall, but parts of it were so burnt that I genuinely questioned whether it was intentional or someone forgot it existed in the kitchen. Maybe it's culinary art I'm too uncultured to understand. FISH DIANE -- Delicious. No complaints at all. What ultimately made us decide we won't return wasn't even the inconsistent food -- it was the attitude. They still charged us for the salad we literally could not eat after sending it back. Then the couple next to us asked to keep one menu because they planned to order more later. One of the servers told them not to leave it on the table because she didn't want the menu to get dirty. The menu was a single flimsy printed paper menu. Not leather-bound. Not handmade parchment from the 1700s. Just printer paper. The whole experience felt oddly pretentious for a place serving burnt cabbage and acid salad. Some dishes were genuinely good, but the hospitality felt nonexistent and the food was wildly inconsistent. Cute restaurant, but definitely not somewhere we'd return to.

Super attentive and explained the menu well, especially since we were sharing. The bread is a must get, we got a the ceviche (super tangy and good) and french onion toast. The pork and rib eye were our favs. So tender, perfectly charred. The coffee toffee pudding dessert was also a must get. Will be back for future large group dinners.

Food is meant to be shared and is perfect for a night out or celebration. The dishes are so imaginative--flavorful and visually appealing. We started off with cheese appetizer to warm up. Not amazing but a solid starter. The badger flame beet salad was very tasty with pistachio and ruby red grapefruit. Not much greens but delicious. The hamachi crudo tasted fresh but I'm a purist and always prefer the fish flavor over the vinaigrette dressing. The beef tartare was a tad under seasoned imo. The mains blew my mind. Usually the mains are outshined by the starters in a fine dining establishment. Not here! The Indian egg was something I've never had. A soft boiled egg enveloped with an Indian spiced sausage was surrounded by cucumber, sumac, and yogurt. A mandatory order. The smoked and fried chicken (brined a few days prior per our server) was hot, delicious, and complimented with a soy and chile sauce. Great meal in itself. Get it! Hand rolled spaghetti was coiled with a mixture of mushrooms in a brown butter sauce. Super savory. Great starch, goes well with everything. Can't wait to try more dishes during future visits!

The fact that they speak Italian adds to the feel of authenticity and the waitstaff was on point the whole night. The dim lighting with the real wax candles, adds a intimate touch. The food started with a simple Hamachi Crudo, which was simple and elegant. The warm bread that accompanied it is a nice and appreciated surprise at the beginning of the meal. Next up was the octopus, which was served warm, and was not rubbery or chewy at all. The eggplant Parmesan was a little bit on the colder side, but taste wise very sweet, tender, and you could tell each portion was made lovingly. The gnocchi was soft, creamy, rich, and decadent, and the sauce was equally rich and a great pairing. When you were only served five pieces of gnocchi, somehow you feel more appreciative of each bite and that was certainly the case here. You probably wouldn't want to eat a whole bowl of the stuff as it was extremely rich and luxuriously creamy. The last dish was the tiramisu which had a strong coffee flavor.
