Charming wine bar with an impressive selection and delicious bites that pair perfectly with their flights. They change those wines weekly and always have something for everyone. This week they had a Brie tasting that was delightful and went well with both our selections. It is very cool inside and gives a French cafe type feel and the outside is cute too with a Spanish style fountain. Knowing there was no dinner served here, I called ahead of time to ask what I could bring in to enjoy with a wine flight. Just no meat, cheese or olives i was told. Fair enough. We brought our own hummus, crackers and fruit. (Darn it Susie's Cupcakes wasn't open for another sweet treat.) My wife and I used to be members of their wine club before I saw the bottles online at total wine for $10 less. Canceled membership and just decided to be a once in a while customer until after I got my bill tonight. I bought a $23 bottle for $58 plus paid a corkage fee of $15, with no warning about a charge to drink it there while I bought some charcuterie to go with it. Why didn't I get charged to eat the board there too? Other places will see me more now that I won't be going back here due to nickel and diming. They also suggested a $25 tip too. Nice ambiance, especially when there is live music, friendly service and most importantly: great wines! I tried the Pinot flight and ended up going home with a bottle, had the charcuterie board which was a perfect pairing and the live music set the right vibe. You can sit on the front patio ( where the live music happens, also good people watching), inside: small but cozy, or out on the back patio. The restaurant next door, Tin Roof, shares the back patio and there was an event happening out there the night we went, so the back patio was packed and loud, maybe check the Tin Roof calendar before planning your outing, but we wanted to listen to the music out front anyway, heat lamps on both. Speaking of Tin Roof, MB Wines seems to get a lot of Tin Roof folks waiting for their reservations or as a night cap after, so many comings and goings. Lots of foot traffic for Susie Cakes on the front patio as well, so you can take it as more good people watching opportunities or be prepared for some passer's by. Mall parking, then walk across the street, the Tin Roof event happening made it tougher than normal. It's a no-brainer, except trying to park in the busy Manhattan Beach Mall (but we have an electric car so we often nab a spot in a EV only spaces). We stroll in, are greeted by friendly, knowledgeable hosts, and the hardest part is deciding what to drink. They have many options: you can do flights of 4 varietals (white, red, etc.) or buy a bottle and uncork it right there. Easy peasy. The bonus is they have some treats, including, cheese, meats, olives. Our party of four tried two intriguing red blends and relaxed with a charcuterie plate that was very satisfying. My mom and I walked over from Suzie Cakes (who had phenomenal service by the way) to check this place out. We LOVE all things wine; wineries, tastings, and even have out own in-home wine cellar! We were very intrigued. Upon entering, the woman at the register looked right at us and ignored us. That would have been okay, maybe she didn't want to bother us and was waiting to be prompted. Meanwhile, two separate couples walked in shortly after us and the employee immediately greeted them, offered to serve them, and explain the menu. I really don't want to jump to conclusions, but this felt slightly discriminatory considering we were the only African Americans in the store and the two couples that walked in were Caucasian. Interestingly enough, another one star review on this page shared similar sentiments about the racist undertones they experienced at this location. It's very disappointing to be invisible in the 21st century, especially when you have money to spend. We will take our coin elsewhere. read more

This is my second time coming here. Love this place. I like that it's a low key casual spot. The first time I came was a little busier cause it was in the evening and they had live music. This time was nice and empty as we came at opening time. I really enjoyed the refreshing rose wines. The staff members are always so nice and helpful. Came here after a long day of college appointments and relocation exploring in Manhattan Beach and decided to treat myself to a glass of wine. I was introduced to a new vineyard named Bliss and their Chardonnay is really darn good. I'm also a loyal consumer to sharp cheddar and they introduced me to a new sharp cheese. I was very pleased and they treated me very nicely which is something that could be 50/50 when you're not dressed the part for most places. I walked in with casual clothes after school stuff and was treated with respect and great customer service. Will make this my go to spot if I end up in school down here. read more

I visited MBWines since last year. Became a club member as the wine selection was amazing. The customer service was pleasant each visit. The owner Ray was extremely gracious to discuss the wines. Customers were allowed to bring food inside to snack as they consumed MBWines. I planned and was confirmed to have my birthday gathering at MBWines. I was informed that i would be contacted for details. I never heard from anyone. I dropped in two days before my birthday gathering, and was meet with an unpleasant greeting and Dismissed to speak the owner. I followed up with the owner. The information included in his response contradicts the conversations we had regarding my gathering/birthday party at your venue. I stated, I would bring outside food, and that I wanted my guests to enjoy wine samplings and tastings from your selection and I would cover that costs. One can only imagine my surprise and horror when I read your email, where you now stipulate I cannot bring any food, I have a 2 hour window, and my guests would be subject to the patio. I patronize the establishment often. I have brought several of my friends, family and colleagues, and they have been return customers as well. Every time I came, I brought in food from outside of the establishment and was not aware or ever told that this was not allowable. I was just there twice in the month of March, where I spoke with you, and was enjoying the food that I brought in along with your delicious wine. I also have a subscription to your wine club. But after this recent email and the treatment I received from you employee, I am no longer interested in patronizing or using your establishment ever again. I find your and your employee's responses and actions questionable, contradictory, untruthful, and even racist. And you can't beat the member discounts and the lack of corkage fee when you bring bottles to the nearby Tin Roof Bistro (which we did). But most importantly, the service was exceptional from the whole staff but especially Amber. Came into this location and we were not greeted upon arrival. There was a woman with blonde hair that was working on a board that we approached kindly and asked for a wine menu. This was our first time here and we were unsure of how the seating arrangements were or if someone was going to assist us. When asked for a wine menu, she said that's what I'm working on right now and this was yesterday's food, but here's the QR code. Her tone was rude and unwelcoming so I confronted her and told her that she is not very nice or kind to her first time customers, and we will be going somewhere else, she proceeded to say I directed someone to the QR code and said this is our menu and I told her it's not about directing someone to a QR code. It's the fact that your tone was unwelcoming we were bothering you and it was not nice. We came here because of the reviews and saw some of the negative but now we see that the negative reviews are very true and in fact could not have been more disgusted with the person That we encountered. There was one woman who had a smile and tried to assist, but did not want to interfere with the altercation that I had with the woman. Eva was knowledgeable about the store's inventory and she gave me a REALLY healthy pour of something she'd predicted I'd like based on what I was buying.
