    El Segundo Barsha

I love all things Barsha. The owners Lenora and Adnen are the nicest people, community rooted and hard working. Their new spot is gorgeous - I love the vibe. What a cool place in El Segundo to hang out, have a bite and a sip! An easy 5-stars for me - nice beer, good wine and delicious bites - love The Hand of Fatima and crusty bread! Yup, 5 stars

This was a tough review to write because my wife and I were very excited to have a new wine bar in town, and we believe in supporting local businesses, and the owner tried to make the experience right by comping our cheese plate, but event though the place is only 2 weeks old in this location, there are two other very well-established locations that have existed a while, and I can't help but feel like our negative experience could have been avoided. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. We walked downtown and arrived a little after 6pm on a Friday evening. The place was already very full and buzzing, but we were immediately seated at two high stools facing the street. Another couple arrived a little after us and took the last two open spots that I could see next to us. We were given a single menu to peruse while we took in the crowds and ambiance. It's a cute place with a combo of stools and lounge seating, and some small tables outside on Grand. I think there were two servers and the owner (maybe? He was talking up with locals and had the Barsha tattoo, so just a guess) working the front of the house, and they were hustling around trying to keep up with demand. Fundamentally, they seemed understaffed. We were given small glasses of water soon after we were seated, but it took a bit for another server to come by and take our drink order. I got the flight and my wife started with a 3 oz of the sparkling brut. I noticed that the server that took our order had his hands full and didn't have a notepad to write anything down, which would end up biting us in the end. I mentioned that we would be ordering some cheese and asked if we could do that, but he said he'd circle back when we got our wines for that. It took another little stretch for our wines to be dropped off, but at that point we also provided our cheese order (four cheese plate), and began enjoying the drinks. I made it into the third taster and my wife finished the first pour before the server returned to see if she wanted anything else. I made a note that we were still waiting on our cheese, and the server said the kitchen was a bit backed up. Eventually my wife's second glass was dropped off, but still no cheese. The wood-topped stools were starting to feel pretty uncomfortable, and it had been at least 30 minutes with no food. I went to the restroom and noticed it was out of toilet paper (no extra rolls to be found anywhere), so I let the owner know while he was showing some bottles to someone at the front. Soon after, the couple next to us received all of their food, which included some more complex items, and they had definitely ordered after us. I went back to the owner and mentioned it, and he thanked us for the feedback, noting that the kitchen wasn't backed up, so it was likely a server issue. Soon after that the server came by again to let us know he was going to check on our cheese, confirming it was "a three cheese plate", to which we corrected him about it being four, and all but confirming that it was never put in with the kitchen. He offered to give us some more wine as an apology, but at that point we didn't want more to drink without any food. After an hour the owner brought our cheese, apologized, and brought a complimentary glass of wine for my wife. You can see that there was nothing fancy about the cheeses that warranted the delay. By then, we were super hungry and done with the place. Some feedback to consider: - The strawberries with the cheese plate were very hard (not ripe) - Spare toilet paper rolls can be left in the bathroom to reduce servicing frequency - Bottles of water could just be left at the table to allow service to be more efficient, or use bigger glasses for fewer visits Again, this was likely avoidable and possibly a fluke, but if we do return, it'll be after the kinks have been worked out.

Something different for El Segundo. Great idea and it should do well. Looking forward to after work happy hours.

The food by Lenora was absolutely amazing, and Adnen picked a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc to pair with it.

Accidentally knocked one of my glasses on the floor, splattering into many pieces lol. It's was cool tho. We all laughed it off and several minutes later a gentleman was there to sweep it up haha. The material was very informative and I suggest anyone that's looking for a wine tasting experience to enroll in a class. Wine bars are cool too but it's 2 different types of experiences in my opinion. I look forward to enrolling in some more future classes also.

Walking in the store, I was a little thrown off because I've never been in a store that's set up like a grocery store, but only sells liquor. I went straight to the back to look at kegs. They have large kegs in the back refrigerator. It's self service, so you can walk through the door, into the cooler, and grab your own. The store is overwhelming. The different types of wines are separated by category. Ie. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir. Beers are separated by country. Ie. German, American. They also have an expansive mini liquor bottle collection near the front of the store, average price $3.99 each. You can sign up for the rewards with your phone number and email address. They also sell snacks to go with all that liquor. There aren't as many staff as you would expect. There were only two people checking people out, which slowed down the process because they were addressing issues at the register. Parking: This store has its own parking lot. I noticed people like to hang out in their cars in the parking lot.
