They were also very accommodating for our large group, even as we just kept ordering more rounds of the same goat & sheep cheeses. I really enjoyed building my own wine tasting flight because it allowed me to try a larger variety of red wines. If you're unsure of what to order, they also have pre-set wine tasting flights in the menu. For food, they have extensive charcuterie board options, but no real entrees. We've been here twice in the past few weeks because it's just such a cozy, sweet spot to grab a glass of wine. The other location is a restaurant - this one is a small wine shop with a bar and a few tables. The staff here is friendly and can recommend the right wine for you. Last time I ended up talking off the bartender's ear about living in LA, moving, prices, etc. But she seemed keen on sharing her stories, too. The best word to describe this place is honestly just cozy. We've sat at the bar both times (I think it has about 6 seats) and usually behind us there have been some groups - maybe some moms, or groups of teachers, friends, etc. They also do serve some beers and a few cocktails and mocktails as well, in addition to charcuterie boards, though we've just stuck to wine the two times we've been. He made me and my group of girlfriends feel so welcome, so comfortable, a home away from home. He is extremely tentative to all his customers making sure each person us happy and having the best time one could. Not only does he provide great service he is very knowledgeable, and fun, kind, and just all around brings such good energy to the establishment. You can tell he really loves being there and enjoys bringing an experience to the guests! Now the wine and the small bites, WOW! They are so good. I used to be a member at a few other places and it was "okay" here, it was delicious! I love all their meats and cheeses, truffle cheese wow almost died because of how good it was. I could go on and on, but let's just say I canceled my other memberships for the "wine club" and joined here in less than 30 minutes. Loved the wine bottles. I also wanted to make my own charcuterie board for dinner that night and he suggested his favorites cheeses and meats. I got the Cypress Grove Truffle Tremor which is a goat cheese from CA, a Manchego 3 month blend which was a sheep cheese from Spain, and an Old Amsterdam extra aged Gouda from Netherlands. My guests couldn't say which was their favorite because all three were so yummy. I also got a Black Label Prosciutto, Coppa Pork Shoulder, and Toscano Salami. All were equally as great. Scott also recommended this Strawberry Mint jelly and Tunisian almonds. Lets just say the whole board was a huge hit. I can't wait to make more. Went on a Saturday night maybe 1 hour before closing. One guy was serving about 4 couples but he was so fast and friendly. He greeted us when we walked in we did two tasting sat in this section next to the window and did two tasting flights each the same. We ordered a charcuterie board with cheese and meats. We were giving water also. Our charcuterie board was delicious loved everything but the duck it was like a little block of blended meat lol but everything else was so good. The wine was good and refreshing. We left with a bottle of wine from a winery in Paso Robles we visited. They have tons of cool wines from different areas. No worries, the charcuterie and cheese plates won't make a meal but they'll fill you up just enough to cushion the wine and fuel you up to run to the nearest restaurant. The proscuitto and brasaola are some of Italy's best, and even the rosemary ham is exceptional. Barsha Wines and Spirits is both a wine and spirits shop as well as a wine and beer bar. About half of the floor space is devoted to the shop, which also stocks crostini, cured meats and a selection of cheeses as well as other snacks and wine and snack accessories, and the other half is for the bar. The bar portion consists of a sofa and two chairs with a low table, two high tops that each seat about 10 communally (and are periodically reserved for wine club members coming in for tasting and pickup) and a bar that seats 5 people regularly but 6 if stretched. The casual bar has a rustic feel - like a wine box - with lots of wooden surfaces. The menu is limited - there is not a kitchen but a good toaster and a selection of snacks. The service is quite good - definitely one of the better points of sitting at the bar. Our party of 3 was relegated to the bar because the rest of the place was on hold for wine club folks, but it worked out because we were able to have some extra tastes as we decided what to sip throughout the evening. The bartender/server was very knowledgeable and seemed to care a great deal about wine. The wines were varied - both geographically and in flavor. Generally, the prices are $10 to $15 per 6 oz glass with the average around $12. The bottles of wine in the store are all over the map but definite have a vast majority in the $20-$30 range. The nibbles are tasty but not necessarily fresh. We had five cheeses - Camembert, Smokey Blue, Roncal DOP, Fleur Verte Herb Goat and Aged Cheddar. They were served with a little tropical jam, candied papaya, grapes and spiced almonds. All of the cheeses but the Roncal were great - the Roncal seemed to have a little fuzz. We asked the server and he said it was "herbs," so we ate it. MISTAKE...major tummy aches the next day. I think that was the source. In contrast, we had the kale Caesar, which is absolutely delicious. The shredded kale is tossed in a house Caesar dressing and topped with roasted, spiced garbanzo beans, sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, croutons and shaved Parmesan. If I returned, I would probably just order this. We also had a charcuterie plate. This was also very good. While the Rosemary Ham was a bit dull as were the duck rillettes, the country pate, the chorizo rioja and the Loukanika Salami were amazing. In fact, the Greek salami was some of the best that I have ever had. These were served with Dijon, cornichons, pickled grapes, spiced almonds and crostini. We had sips of lots of different wines (the benefit of having 3 people and small pour options (3 oz)). A French Sparkling Rose, an Austrian Gruner Veltner, an Italian Lacrima, a Santa Barbara GSM (best of the night), a Napa Sauv Blanc (second best of the night), a French Rose made from Pinot Gris, Santa Barbara Syrah blend and a Mendocino Cab. At the end, we wanted a little sweet. They have quite a selection of Jeni's ice creams - we shared a trio. I think that chocolates would be a nice addition to the menu. I think that they would be a better match for the wine. We enjoyed the ice cream but would probably skip it next time. We really enjoyed ourselves save the evidently foul cheese and the outrageously uncomfortable wooden barstools on metal legs. I cannot think of a less comfortable seat in any restaurant or bar in Los Angeles. Perhaps it was the hardest wood ever? Whatever it was, my toucus was in bad shape. I would definitely come again. A little pricey but typical in this area and not too sceney. read more
