I've been coming to Brolly Hut since I was a kid, which is why it honestly hurts to say this, but I won't be going back. I ordered chili cheese fries, and the cheese wasn't melted at all. It didn't even taste like cheese. When I brought it up, I was told that sometimes the cheese melts and sometimes it doesn't. They offered to put it in the microwave, but I took it home and microwaved it myself for TWO MINUTES. The cheese still didn't melt or change at all. I was also refused a refund. At this point, it's not even just about the chili cheese fries. It's about the overall experience and how disappointing it is to see a place I've been going to since I was a kid become what it is now. High disappointed in the service & quality of the food tonight. Upon my arrival one elderly woman was placing her order and another older man walked in behind me. It wasn't a busy night yet our 3 orders took 20+ min due to some socializing between staff. Maybe we, the patrons, were talking too low or the music was too loud but the young lady at the registered didn't respond when I asked repeatedly 'how much is the double cheeseburger combo', so I just order the single. Nevertheless my patience only became undervalued when I taste my food and the fries are SOGGY DAMN NEAR COLD, and the DRINK WAS LUKE WARM. The ice in the drink melted by the time I got to my car. On the corner of Crenshaw & Imperial and just a block from Crenshaw & 120th lays Brolly Hut. The building, located on the corner of a busy intersection, looks like something out of the 60's. Some of the regulars look like they've been coming to Brolly's since the 60's. For someone that might or might not have worked on Crenshaw & 120th, Brolly Hut is the perfect spot to grab one of the most delicious burgers you can get in the LA area. With their shredded lettuce and delicious patties any of their burger choices will be well worth it. And by burgers, I mean the fish sandwich too. My favorite is the Colossal burger because nothing feels more California than pastrami on my burger. It's been literally decades since having a Brolly Hut Burger. Ordered the Colossal Burger with everything and an order of Onion Rings. The Burger had everything but flavor for me. Had to join my peppers and some ranch (.87c a cup) that ai purchased. Definitely missing sauce or mayo mustard and ketchup. The service was professional courteous. You definitely know the regulars (when they come through), they get called by name. Definitely a community staple for sure. Hate ai have to rate such a beloved community staple low or even having to report anything negative but it is what it is. Still feel Brolly Hut is surely among the greats (based on the history) but the offering today just wasn't up to par. The onion rings however were fried and battered perfectly just no flavor. Ai will surely make it out again to give her another go. She's worthy. Put a lot of work in over the years. Would love to drop in occasionally and enjoy a nostalgic Burger experience from my youth. I didn't take a picture of the oily day old onion rings that I received for my 91 year-old grandmother, but those were horrible also. My mom went in the burger, stand to return them and once again, her attitude was horrible. She didn't want to refund my money. I grew around the corner from this place and have been coming here for years, and I enjoy the food from Brolly Hut. With saying that, they have their issues. Food: The food is your typical mom and pop shop style food. It's greasy, it's good, it has flavor, and it's a local spot everyone knows about. I'm not mad at the food at all. I ordered 2 chicken salads and an order of fries. The fries only come in one size. Service: I have to say the service was extremely bad. The cashier was yelling next, which is fine, but didn't say hello or hi. No customer service experience at all. I asked for a pastrami salad, and I was told they don't make pastrami salads. So I asked if you could put the pastrami on the side, and they had to get approval. Someone in the back said yes, it's fine. I then asked if they have a chicken salad, which I already knew they did, but I wanted to see what the difference was from pastrami and chicken. The cashier said yes, we have a chicken salad, and I replied back, "What's the difference from pastrami going on the salad compared to the chicken? The cashier stated we just don't do it. I said Okay," and ordered 2 chicken salads and an order of french fries. I got my number and sat down and then waited for my order. After the 3 people who ordered after me received their food, who also ordered multiple options from the menu. I walked up to the window to see if I saw anything that looked like a salad being prepared and only saw another order that came after me being prepared. I walked up to the cashier and asked for my money back as I did not want to wait any longer because I felt like my conversation about the pastrami and challenging why they didn't do it somehow rubbed the staff the wrong way and decided to make my order after everyone received their order. When I asked for my money back, the cashier said, "Why? I explained my reason, and the staff spoke about it and then decided to give money back. The crazy thing is they never started my order, and I was waiting for 23 minutes with only 2 people in front of me, and they left 10 minutes into my wait time. Everyone else came in after me. It's sad when the food is good but the staff makes you not want to come back. Atmosphere: It's dingy and looks beat up. The tables and chairs are the original but haven't been taken care of. I ordered the hash brown special with a side of pancakes, and was excited to dig in. However, my excitement quickly turned to disgust when I found a roach baked inside my pancake. I tried to handle the situation discreetly by informing the cashier, who seemed shocked and went to get the manager. The manager's bad attitude and dismissive response only added to my disappointment. Instead of apologizing or offering a refund, she simply asked if I wanted my food changed. This Brolly Hut has fallen from what it used to be. We used to come here during the 70s thru 90s and they were known for their fresh charbroiled hamburgers and copious onion rings. Sadly the cheeseburger I got had spoiled onions and the burger didn't taste fresh. The onion rings where a leftover refried and greasy and not to mention the portion size has gone way down. Haven't been here in over 20yrs. Had a taste for Taquitos. Their pastrami chargers, fries, chili and onion rings use to be good. I'll check it out and see if there is sky fuss over the taquitos. I had been wanting a good pastrami so I was told try Brolly Hut...Epic FAIL!! Ordered 2 pastrami's grilled with cheese, mustard, mayo, & pickles, order of fries and 1 shake. Now I get charging for the cheese but they charged $1.50 for the grilling. As I'm watching the so called cook do orders he's letting the meat grill forever and I'm like damn when is he going to take it off the grill. So I get my food after waiting 15 minutes get in my car and it was PURE GARBAGE. He cooked it so long it was extremely greasy, meat was too hard to chew, and burnt and for $15 it was slithers of pastrami meat on both sandwiches. Very disappointing and would not recommend coming here for a cup of water!! Spent almost $40 for garbage and let's get real these people are really getting over on us and we all need to STOP supporting bad businesses until they fix their issues. Ordered a sandwich, told them that I didn't want the sandwich cut. She told me that I had to get it cut. It made no sense. I ask why, she asked the cook. She said he said he would do it "this time" but this time only. I was like why is it a problem? She said the owner would be upset at the cook. I said confused, "I'm the customer. Not cutting the sandwich is one less step, and if how I want it is on the ticket it should not be a problem." She gave me my change and the staff bantered instead of bussing the dirty tables! I waited, wanting to speak to the owner (if she wasn't lying) about how stupid that rule was, but decide not make the issue bigger since I was getting what I wanted. I took my food home when it was ready. I have ordered the same thing in the past with no problem or complaint. My sandwich was a mess when it is normally well made, with less cheese and fries than they normally put on the order. Again, as I reviewed before, the food and service has declined. I will not come back to this place again. The problem with cutting the sandwich is that when you bite into it, the content fall out. Uncut, you can hold the contents in place while you eat it.
