An extensive menu of sandwiches and hot food bowls makes it difficult to make a quick decision. Four of us and each has a different taste, including a preference for Vegan fare. The lovely missus already saw the Philly Cheese Steak which is neither an Orleans nor a York namesake....but she says it was warm melty and meaty sandwich second to none. My order was easy. I like chicken salad and it comes in a nice 10" bun with the toppings that are a must; tomato slices and shredded lettuce. The chicken salad Hero Special was a winning combination. The Vegan Shrimp Creole Bowl looked amazing. Pair that with another Vegan Chili Bowl and you've got outstanding flavors going to the palate. Real Shrimp is the main ingredient for a heavy bowl of Shrimp and Grits that brings you back to the Orleans side of the vast Orleans & York Deli Menu. All orders are prepared by a Lady Chef that invited us back for more of her culinary artistry. She began the chore of cleaning and putting stuff away as it was just about closing time... if you look outside you'll see the setting sun indicating the end of the day for Orleans & York Deli. We pack up some leftovers and are on our way. We will not hesitate to return for more.

Well, my family and I just moved into the neighborhood, so I finally got the chance to check it out. I honestly felt like a tourist walking around. Half of the store is a market filled with supplements, herbs, oils, snacks, and other health products, while the other half is a restaurant. I took my time walking down every aisle just to see everything they had. The prices were a little higher than what I've seen elsewhere, but they definitely carry a great selection. My husband and I tried the jerk chicken patty and the shrimp & crab patty. Both were really good, but the jerk chicken patty was my favorite. I also ordered the Austin Martin smoothie, and it did not disappoint. Now that we live in the neighborhood, I know I'll be back often to try more things on the menu.

I also love their tacos and the Tropical Banana Whip smoothie. Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and made with care. What keeps me coming back isn't just the food--it's the atmosphere. There's always a sense of community when you walk in. I've enjoyed the live music, attended community meetings there over the years, and have had so many great conversations with people. It's one of those places where you feel welcome the moment you walk through the door. Simply Wholesome has been bringing people together for decades through healthy food, culture, music, and community. Places like SW are rare, and I'm grateful it's still here. If you've never been, do yourself a favor and check it out. You'll understand why so many of us have been coming back for years.

This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!

The staff was rude, which was surprising since we were so excited to finally try this place. The sandwiches we ordered were just okay. It did not disappoint, Roberto O. took my order and he pretty much suggested what to get as far as a sandwich (based upon my restrictions) and the chips that would complement the sandwich. He recommended the Firebird sandwich and the Funky cushion chips (which is a mixture of salt/vinegar, mesquite BBQ, etc.). After receiving my order, I wanted to view the sandwich and take a bite. I was parked in the 15 minute parking space and one bite turned into eating half the sandwich and bag of chips in my car! I ordered "the melrose" which seemed to be their flagship sub. It was at the top of the menu--seemed to be basically a turkey bacon ham club type of deal with a kick. Despite there being probably at least 15 ingredients, all I could taste was mayonnaise. The entire texture? Mayo. Blech. I didn't eat the second half. Solidly OK if you like mayonnaise. Who knows. Maybe "the melrose" just ain't the thing to get here. Not so sure I'll be back though.
