Mother and I went to Flavor Table for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning, and we had a great experience. There was a short wait, which was completely reasonable considering how busy they were, and once we were seated, our food was fresh, hot, and made to order. Everything we had was good, but the real test was Mother -- she is very hard to please! She ordered the grits and chicken wings and actually enjoyed them, so that definitely says something. Flavor Table did not disappoint! This was my third visit. The food is always cooked to order and comes out hot. I ordered the catfish plate with a side of pancakes, and everything was seasoned like is supposed to be (flavored but not salty). My friend ordered the grits, and those were just as good. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant (and bathroom) was clean. One thing to keep in mind is that seating is limited, so I recommend getting there early. On Sundays, especially after church, the place fills up fast and you can expect a wait. Also, parking is street parking only. I stopped by on a Saturday morning, it was about a 30 minute wait. The service was not that great. The waiter barely came to check on us. Because they don't have a parking lot, we both parked on the street and were seated immediately. I ordered the crab and shrimp omelette, my friend ordered the croquettes. It was so much food, we both took our extras home. All in all, it was a great meal with superior service. We had a waiter that was really nice but he went out of his way to let us know he wanted his tip in cash not on the card was very vocal . I found this unprofessional, off putting and actually felt a bit of anxiety at the end worrying about if I had enough cash for his tip. There biscuits are the best taste like my grandma's homemade biscuits. The restaurant is not fancy not very decorative at all really. If the review were solely based on the food, our gentleman server, who may have been the manager or owner (I could be wrong), then I would rate Flavor Table a solid 4 and some change. I tbelive that his name is DJ based on the receipt. However, because other factors can make or break service ratings, I must also consider them in the equation. The hostess have zero personality and not welcoming at all. She was a bare minimum type of hostess. We were also overlooked originally by another server that took a table ahead of ours, though we arrived and were sat first. Okay enough of that, let's get into the food. The shrimp and Catfish combo OMG. Let me preference I am from Florida, South Florida and we cook seafood well, especially with grits. Our order was cooked to perfection. The portion size was massive. Three people could have easily shared that meal. Yes, I brought my leftovers home with me back to Vegas and the leftovers were equally divine. Everything was excellent from the fish, shrimp, Country potatoes, cheese grits, scrambled eggs( which I don't typically enjoy), and that got dayum biscuit. My ggaawwwdd that biscuit. I'm going back for the biscuit alone and I don't eat much bread. The setup at the restaurant was cozy and I enjoyed how everyone talked to people they didn't know across tables. Went on a Saturday morning and only waited 5 mins to be seated. By time we were leaving the wait time was much longer so go early! On to the food: my husband had the veggie omelette and his only complaint was the spinach was really watery. The potatoes and included biscuit was good. I had the fried shrimp and catfish with cheese grits. I found this to be okay, nothing spectacular. I would try something more flavorful next time instead of playing it safe. I ordered pancakes for my son and those were good, fluffy and a decent size. All the food came out piping hot! Our waiter was a nice gentleman who was pretty attentive. We didn't wait terribly long for our food. The space had a good amount of patrons dining but it wasn't loud, so that was nice. I called and spoke to Tiffany during the week to confirm their hours and if they would be open. and she told me the restaurant would be open and serving takeout in Easter.
