2 Star I came all the way from South LA to Compton to try The Ingredients (2251 W Rosecrans Ave), and honestly, this was a complete waste of my time. I arrived around 10:00 AM and didn't leave until about 11:30 AM, so an hour and a half of my day was gone for this experience. From the start, the service was horrible. Yes, they appeared understaffed, but respectfully, that is not the customer's responsibility. If you're open, basic service should still be provided. I asked multiple times for hot water so I could clean my utensils and stir my coffee. I asked the same server, Mary the hispanic lady, at least three or four times, and she never brought it. Meanwhile, my coffee was already on the table getting cold because I couldn't even prepare it. Another server eventually helped me, but by then my coffee was cold. I ordered chicken and waffles and waited... and waited... and waited. No check-ins. No refills. No communication. I was sitting there for about 45 minutes to an hour with no service at all. At that point, I was over it and asked for my bill. I was ready to pay for my cold coffee and leave. That alone should tell you how the experience was going. Then a tall guy came over with a orange hat, apologized, and asked me to stay. He was actually very nice, and because of him, I gave it one more chance and didn't walk out. When he asked what I ordered, it made me question if my food was ever even in rotation to begin with. Who knows at this point. Eventually, I did get my food, and I will be honest, it was good. The guy apologize again. But let's be clear: good food does not cancel out terrible service. I ended up spending $25.30, and I paid without asking for anything to be comped because that's just not how I move. But would I come back? Absolutely not!!!!!!! My sister wanted to come and I will tell her don't do it sis!!! The only positive part of this entire experience was the tall guy with the orange hat. He was polite, attentive, and actually seemed to care. Unfortunately, one good employee/owner cannot fix an overall bad experience. Service matters. And this was one of the worst service experiences I've had in a long time. Do I recommend this place? No. I don't care how good the food is. There are too many other places that can give you both good food and decent service. Save your time and your money.

Well the parking structure is very limited! In a small business plaza with a 7Eleven and a few other businesses. During the week it's okay, but the weekend is tuff, street parking on Rosecrans is also very limited. The bathroom was clean. The music was very nice, while dining. Our server Ashley was very accommodating and made us feel as though we were dining at her home! And very attentive 5 for Ms.Ash! We tried the waffles and pancakes, and may I say the pancakes were very delicious, with a taste of their very own, with a hint of cinnamon and crunchy edges, made them perfect. The wings were seasoned, but tasted like the grease may have been old, which really took away from the wing experience! I will try again though! The waffles were a little too soft for my taste,I would request them to be extra crispy. The grits were good, the home potatoes are deep fried diced potatoes, remind me of dice frence fries! Smothered potatoes would be so much better,in my humble opinion! Other than that I would definitely go back.

Stopped here for some on the go brunch and was not disappointed. The ladies that greeted me and took my order were super nice. The music playing was a vibe and I love the red and black interior. I ordered the Frederick Douglass which is an egg scramble with andouille sausage, spinach, cheese, and potatoes and comes with a waffle. Fire. 10/10 and I can't wait to get some more this upcoming week

The whole ensemble. The Sam Cooke. 3 Stack Pancakes. And a delicious Cup of Coffee.

Stopping through again because those Pancakes kept calling me...Lol. Love the vibe of this place. Another great meal experience as well as customer care. Friendly proficient service that will have you coming back for ' The Ingredients' every time. Gratitude and give thanks to Management and Staff for rendering another great meal experience. See you soon.

Stacked up trash outside had the whole parking lot smelling bad

I will start off by saying I ate here before twice I called and placed an order an went to pick it up the food I ordered was very good ... Today I went and decided to sit and eat after getting out of my car and getting a whiff of I don't know what I almost didn't go in it was a very bad smell in the parking lot but I go in. I waited a few minutes for a table got a table and it was 15 minutes till someone came an took our order my sister ordered shrimp and grits she asked if the shrimp could be grilled because she doesn't like the texture she wanted them grilled the waitress says ok no problem my nephew got hotcakes and bacon and eggs I ordered Chilaquiles verde with extra cheese when the food came the shrimp were not grilled and there wasn't enough gravy from the shrimp on her grits which left the meal lacking flavor she wanted to say something but decided not to she just put pepper and hot sauce on the grits an ate them she didn't eat the shrimp the hotcakes my nephew enjoyed I had a bite they were very good without syrup so I thought that was bomb now my chilaquiles I asked for extra cheese I got my order there was no extra cheese so I waited 10 minutes for a server to come back around and asked her if I could have extra cheese she said yes she comes back with a container of shredded cheese and I guess it was in my look she said oh do you want me to heat your food up? I'm like yeah cause if I put the cheese on it it won't melt so she took the food and and the cheese and took it to the back now I'm waiting for my food 10 minutes pass 15 minutes pass and my sister an nephew finish there food so I started eating the shrimp that my sister didn't eat because they weren't grilled the the server comes over and says ok so how was everything are you ready for your check and I just looked at her like really and I guess from my look she looked down where my plate should have been and said oh my gosh your food and I just smiled and shook my head yes she says I'm sorry I will be right back lol so I finally get my food that was reheated twice and I just wasn't in the mood to eat it then, so I got a To go plate and took my food to go Now I will say this, this place is really nice I love the pictures on the walls and the music had me reminiscing about my parents (GOODTIMES!!!) I leave out and I'm hit in the face with that awful smell I'm like what is that smell as we are leaving I look over and see the trash and thought that's the smell right outside of the door the trash left an undesirable feeling... I know this place is fairly new and I know it can get overwhelming so I try and have patience knowing that the first couple of years can be rocky I pray that this place flourish with prosperity because it has an abundance of potential I wish them well

This was my husband and I first time here . We decided to come here for Easter and I was a bit worried because I thought it would've crowded yet, it wasn't and we were able to be seated right away. The ambiance is very nice and cozy, our server was very nice and gave great recommendations. The food was delicious full of flavor. I had waffles and the lemon pepper grits, the waitress mentioned this is what they known for. I ordered it and was not disappointed, it melts in your mouth. I can't wait to go again.

2nd time here - beating the traffic and taking a break for a real down home old school diner meal. Love it.

My Opinion! From the moment I stepped into Ingredients Restaurant, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The service was exceptional--our server was not only friendly but also attentive, making the dining experience feel personal and welcoming. The cleanliness of the establishment stood out immediately, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. It's clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a pristine environment, which only added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food--absolutely delicious! Each dish was served piping hot, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to quality and freshness. The seasoned fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, bursting with flavor in every bite. The crispy catfish was equally impressive, with a golden crust and tender, flaky interior that truly hit the spot. As someone who values honest reviews and enjoys sharing my own experiences, I can confidently say that Ingredients Restaurant exceeded my expectations. It's refreshing to find a place that delivers on both taste and service. I'll definitely be returning for another round of that mouthwatering Southern comfort food.

The shrimp and grits are very good, and you do get a healthy portion, but for 20 plus dollars,it does not come with any breads at all,but you have the option of ordering separately at an additional cost! The ambiance is bright and refreshing, restrooms clean, and plenty of parking in lot(formly the Sizzler). I happen to attend on a Monday evening for bingo it was really fun! I won twice that evening, your first card is complimentary with a $10 purchase of something, thereafter, the cards are $5 per game. You get to spend a winners wheel for lots of prizes, including cash! Now I ordered a pastrami sandwich, and when I tell you it was disgusting, it was awful, the meat was fried to a crisp,I thought it would be steamed pastrami meat(my bad)! It also came with grilled onions,if you happen to go for onions on your pastrami sandwich. I chose sweet potato fries, which tasted like they were cooked in meat grease! Just horrible! I will never order that again! Will I return and try other items from the menu, yes, the pastrami sandwich just isn't the right choice for me, you may like it lol! With that being said let me know you guys thoughts on it when you go!
