I feel like this review is over due. It's the 4th time we visit the brewery. But credit is due when credit is due. We are big fans of the insurrectionist DH ipa and them having underbergs is a big plus for us. The food is where this place shines for us. The menu is curated around Hispanic/ Mexican flavors and they knock it out of the park everytime (dodger game is on lol) the rib eye taco, the fish tacos, the chicharrones with guacamole and salsa verde and the wings with a lime ranch are absolutely killer! We don't mind driving 30 minutes from home to come and visit them. The service is amazing, it reminds me of a proper restaurant where staff is always walking by and making sure everyone is ok. If you want to watch a game, chill by the bar and have a drink, meet up with a running group on Wednesdays or even have brunch. This place has it all, very cool ambiance and for the food its actually pretty damn good for a brewery since they have their own kitchen. Def recommend the Ribeye Steak Chilaquiles, which was my favorite hands down. The beers I got to try were all light and were good as well. Really enjoyed my time here. The ambience is laid-back and comfortable, with sports playing on the projector and System of a Down in the background -- a surprisingly good combo. On LA Taco's recommendation we went to Brown Soul Brewing on our way to see Mana at the Forum. BSB did not disappoint. The space is lively and we found a high top table near the front. We ordered drinks and food at the front counter. I sampled the Quiero Maiz, a Mexican-style lager that is smooth and light. We shared the guacamole, topped with pepitas and micro greens with tostadas, so flavorful and creamy, ribeye burrito is full of meat and a bit of chorizo-beans, a big hit, the Mexican hot chicken sandwich was spicy and served on brioche bread, chicken wings were crispy and spicy and pizza was oven-baked with a toasty crust. The food was very delicious, our favorite was the sandwich and wings. Our server, Suzy was the BEST, super attentive, friendly, and helpful. She brought us extra hot sauce that paired nicely with the pizza. Although we do not live nearby, we vouched to return for the excellent food, service, and sample other beers as they were out of a couple we wanted to try. But we'll be back. read more

I won't lie, I went for the pizza they offer on Mondays and Wednesdays. It was very surprising on how packed it got on a Monday and not many were there for the game. Good crowd overall. The beer choices were ok nothing I had really stood out. But the food was really good. Had the pizza and it was amazing for a good price too. Then tried the chicken sandwich I liked it, but I personally thought it was a tad bland and I didn't like the bread. We've been waiting for this for so long here in SG specially when we found out thru socials and television news about these 3 individuals starting up a brewery here. It's a real nice local brewery well taken care of from when it launched. We had to go to Torrance before just to have a good brewery lager. I cannot complain about the chef food at all it's so delicious. So don't forget to buy your chef a beer he drinks a particular beer of his favorite. I just wished less talk is done with the local servers with the people sitting in the bar area. Takes away of other patrons wanting to grab a bite to eat or a refill. Seems that they're more interested in talking to known folks and forgetting the rest. read more

I've think I've been here enough times now to be able to leave another review - it took a lil while but hey redemption is real! I came here at least 3 times before I left the review the first time and I still stand by how bad it was back then - because in the moment it was bad. I avoided this place like the plague after that. I was invited out quite often but after the bad experience I didn't wanna try again - till I did. Due to the wildfires some time back we got to leave work early and with the sudden free time we came down to check it out on a whim since it's local. To our surprise it was trivia night - the first night of it actually. We arrived a little late but we still got to play along. The game host was so fun and it was actually really entertaining (although a bit confusing and difficult to get the hang of at first). We ended up placing 3rd that night - good stuff. Even won a wine bottle! We tried the guacamole, chicken sandwich and the ribeye taco that night. For drinks we had the Juguito, No Wey Góse, Quiero Maíz, Lemonade Radler and House Sangria. Everything was yummy, taco was so delish! The quality of the food, drinks and entertainment that night was such a pleasant turnaround from my previous not so great experiences. I was truly taken back, but glad I gave it another try. It made me wanna give this place another try but with intention, so I went out of my way to come back even when there weren't events. It was pleasant and the food hit the spot. Time has since passed and I've been here more times than I can keep track of. My run club meets here on Weds so I'm here at least once a month. Brown Soul has social events (comedy night, trivia night & live music) that they post about pretty regularly on their socials. This place has a nice open space setting that allows you to see what's going on in the kitchen as well as behind the bar. I enjoyed their Pilsner and Fish Taco. Next time, I'd ask for a wedge of lemon, but overall, a pleasant experience. Looking forward to returning to try other items off their food menu. Really loved the beers. I could drink that lemon Radler ALL DAY. Bartender was great. Less impressed with the menu for now, ($8.50 for one taco - we were told that they are worth it, may consider trying when we come back) - very few vegetarian/vegan options (I think there was one on the menu when we were there). Also, the staff seemed a bit...scared of the chef? We came for a drink after dinner and had leftovers, and were promptly told that we couldn't...bring our leftovers in with us because if the chef saw he would be upset? In this sort of nervous sotto voce. We weren't going to eat them...so, that was kind of a weird vibe and for a first time customer, that made us uncomfortable enough that we voluntarily put the leftovers in the car so we would be allowed to come back in and have a drink. Came across this place on social media and finally decided to try it. I liked the whole concept, the open view of seeing the food being made. I just wish an actual menu was set in place because man this place has the potential to be a beer and food spot. I came in with expectations of there being food I previously viewed on Yelp but it's my fault on that part. The asthetic is nice, calm colors. I'd say adding sarape colors to the walls or art work in the future will be awesome, BROWN SOUL you know! Service was great, the young man working the bar was very nice. Maybe adding a second register for orders to make the line quicker would be a little better. The faster you serve the more we drink lol. All and all a great brewery in South Gate. They have a good beer and wine selection if I'm not mistaken. Prices are $7 and above which is great for craft beer. I read through some reviews before coming and wanted to find out if this michelada was "gritty" and tasted like "sand" like someone said. Well I saw no sand, and number two I thought it was delicious, but to each their own. Maybe the chamoy rim witb tajin made them think it was sandy'ish? Bring a friend and hang out! This place was fun, tv and projector for the games, the beers were delicious, and the food was really good. Everything was plated beautifully, but also tasted incredibly delicious. If it were a blind testing game, I would totally believe the food is from an upscale restaurant. Dora was also very friendly and very helpful. I witnessed her welcome a couple and asked if it was their first time here. She then proceeded to explain the beer menu and walked them in. Hospitality here is top notch! Didn't catch the bartender's name, but he too was very kind and friendly. The place is chill and has a modern look to it, very clean as well! My favorite brewery. I come here often and every time I have a wonderful experience. It's a little more lowkey than other breweries but I love it. We come here for dinner with our little ones. I think the people are nice and mean well, but I just didn't care for their beer. The "hazy" or "juicy" wasn't either of those and the "west coast IPA" was definitely an American Style IPA. Why does that matter? It's a brewery, that's why. Just let because you wanted it to be west coast- doesn't mean you have to call it such. The food is of the "pop-in" variety. Not necessarily a temporary setup but felt like it. They're also way over-priced for this area... which is filled with similar food for far less. It's also really hot inside. Not sure if they need to open the doors sooner, before they're open for business? Fans are huge but far too high. Heat rises and by the time it gets there air starts moving, it's too late. read more

Met up with an old friend at this brewery and I was pleasantly surprised at the vibe of this place. It reminded me of a small scale Angel City Brewery, I even mentioned it to the bartender that was serving our drinks. I definitely enjoyed the open space, the music, and the friendly and sociable people working here which made my experience more fun. As far as the drinks go they were honestly crisp and fresh. We started with a Guero Loco, which was delicious and pretty strong considering I had just eaten an all you can eat buffet 3hours earlier. We also tried La Marka and finished with No Era Penal which were both strong and crispy but ngl No era Penal had this special taste to it.. I am no beer connoisseur but it was delicious. If I think of what beer should taste like, it should taste like this beer! I am glad that a vibey and chill place like this opened up in the neighborhood, it really isn't something you would expect in South Gate but if you love a chill brewery then you must definitely stop by for a drink here. I had an amazing experience at this brewery! The beer selection is fantastic - I tried the Santo Nator, Joe, and Juguito, and they were all incredibly flavorful. They really know their craft beer here! The wine selection is also top-notch, which was a pleasant surprise. What really stood out, though, was the customer service - it was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. New brewery spot in Southgate and had to check them out. They offer a variety of different beers and cater to everyone. The person at the bar who took our orders was extremely knowledgeable in their beers and would be able to recommend the perfect drink depending on your preference.
