Every bite was packed with so much flavor. The cocktails were also beautifully presented, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. Everything was good EXCEPT the STEAK.. No... Seriously. This was probably the biggest steak disappointment I've had in a while. The place comfy, the ambience is dark and bar-like, the drink vibes look chill, I have no complaints about the service. The service was good and the staff was nice. All this makes the steak disappointment that much worse for me. We ordered Ribeye and Shrimp Salmon Lobster Mac and Cheese Asparagus Lobster Roll (Sushi) A drink from the bar The Steak.. The steak came served on a cast-iron skillet. I ordered it medium-well. It arrived a little more medium than usual, but that was not an issue. What disappointed me was the puddle the steak was sitting in. Traditionally said puddle is a mixture of butter, thyme, and whatever seasonings you used on the steak when cooking it. In this case, that puddle was flavorless. It really tasted like the steak was just sitting in a flavorless oil. The steak was very bland, very difficult to think someone could send out a piece of meat out like that, especially when you find out what it costs. Fun atmosphere, ample parking, great food and service! I came to LKSD for a friend's birthday on a Friday evening. The whole block was crowded from people going out to watch the World Cup game of the night. I was easily able to find free parking across the street in a parking structure. There's also a lot of street parking surrounding the restaurant. I think we had about 14 people total and the service was very prompt and friendly. Our orders were taken quickly, plates cleared promptly and anytime we needed something, someone was close by. I had the orange dream to drink which tasted like a creamsicle with coconut flavors. It was very fruity and refreshing. The table ordered fries-they were loaded and I can't remember what they were called, chicken wings, and calamari as appetizers. All were yummy but the fries were the best out of the three for me. For my entree, I had rainbow ceviche which was spicy, super fresh, and flavorful. It came with four tostada halves. My friend ordered regular fries on the side which were also delicious and a plus was that the ketchup had a kick to it. The restaurant is dimly lit with lamps on the table. There were a few TVs on the wall showing the soccer game. It's a very dark and moody vibe. There's a raw bar in the back where all the ceviche and sushi were made. We had a large party so there was an automatic 18% gratuity added and we got one bill so I'm not sure if they're able to split the bill. Great experience overall. This was my first time coming to LKSD to watch the Mexico game last week, and unfortunately my first impression was ruined by the hostess, Delilah. Our family was already seated, and because the restaurant was busy with a posted 2-hour wait, my uncle came to the front to let the hostess know we were joining our family's table to avoid any confusion. Instead of simply confirming, she immediately became argumentative and hostile. She repeatedly asked, "Do they even have seats?" We explained multiple times that yes, we did--we had arrived in separate cars and were meeting the rest of our family. Even after my uncle came up from the table to get us, she kept saying, "I don't think you guys have seats," with an attitude. She even told us that if we didn't have seats, we would be kicked out. She insisted on walking us to the table to "make sure" we actually had seats, and, as we had been telling her the entire time, we did. The entire interaction was unnecessary, embarrassing, and incredibly disrespectful. We've never been treated that way by a hostess before. As the first point of contact for the restaurant, she represents your hospitality, and this experience reflected very poorly. What made the situation even more disappointing was seeing the difference in how guests were treated. While Delilah was rude and confrontational with us for simply joining our family, there was a group of young men nearby who were extremely loud, visibly intoxicated, constantly out of their seats, and even appeared to be wrestling at one point. She repeatedly went over to them smiling and chatting. It really felt like we weren't treated fairly, especially since we were respectful the entire time. We came back again yesterday for the Mexico game with an even larger group--we had three tables. We never told one side of our family about our experience, yet they independently brought up that they were also having a bad experience with Delilah. My aunt had made a reservation, but when they arrived, Delilah acted as if she couldn't find it and seemed reluctant to seat them. They also felt she was rude, dismissive, and giving them dirty looks. It's disappointing to hear this wasn't an isolated incident. The reason I'm leaving this review is because everyone else we encountered was wonderful. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. I also want to recognize our server, Bryan. He completely turned our experience around. He was energetic, charismatic, friendly, attentive, and constantly checked on our table to make sure we had everything we needed. My dad even commented that every server should have Bryan's attitude and level of customer service. He truly made us feel welcome. LKSD has great food, a fun atmosphere, and an amazing owner and staff overall, but the hostess experience needs to be addressed. No customer should be greeted with hostility, especially when they're simply trying to join family who are already seated. read more

We literally got seated closer to 7:40, despite a 7pm reservation. The initial experience was very promising, and we appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. However, over the course of our visit, the service fell short of what we expected, especially considering the $850 bill. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, and as a result, several challenges arose: * Drinks often took up to 25 minutes to arrive, and one of our guests had to request her drink three separate times. Food arrived in increments, and some orders were incorrect or included items we did not request. While the additional filet mignon was kindly removed from the bill and taken back to the kitchen. the asparagus that was not ordered was still charged. I thought it was interesting that the chimichurri sauce was charge and I'd assume it would be part of the steak itself. Given the repeated mix-ups, I had hoped the waiter might have removed them as a courtesy. Not a big deal but I'm sure the waiter was fully aware of the consistent mix ups Half the table did not have silverware when our food arrived, and I had to get it myself due to no staff being available. I want to emphasize that the food itself was delicious, and the initial welcome was lovely. That said, we felt that the service did not match the quality of the food or the expectations for a fine dining experience at this price point. With seven diners, I was able to see a lot of menu items. Entrées ordered included: the 10oz Filet Mignon ($65); the Doc Holliday sandwich ($25); Duck Sando ($19); Colossal Burger ($24); 12oz Ribeye ($62); the Short Rib ($45). Sides included: Calamari Fries ($15); Amazeballs Brussel Sprouts ($16); and Asparagus ($14). Photos are attached. The menu is available for viewing, online. Notice that some plates, such as the Short Rib, are a complete meal (main dish and sides); other entrées (such as steaks and sandwiches) may require the ordering of sides à la carte, like vegetables or fries, to round things out. We picked this place for our Friendsgiving dinner with my girls and WOW... everything from the food to the service was great! We ordered several dishes to share and every single one was fire. This place is bomb. Everything I tried was on point. I ordered the 10 oz Filet Mignon with the Lobster Tail. The filet was cooked to perfection at medium rare. The flavor was perfect, making it quite possibly the best Filet Mignon I've ever had. The Lobster Tail was an okay size but it was a great complement to the steak. I also ordered the Mac Daddy and the Elote Ribs. Both were great additions. I tasted the Mashed Potato with Gravy which was also prepared very well and definitely an above average take on the cuisine. Last, but not least, I ordered the Bread Pudding. I had no idea, but...spoiler alert... they set it on fire right in front of you while pouring caramel sauce all over the dessert. Parking is difficult here, especially on a Friday. It's understandable for a place located in this area where there are lots of other great options to eat. Service was great. The servers were very attentive and kept checking up on us which is always appreciated. Word of caution is to ensure you know they charge $5 or $6 per bottle of water. It may have been our fault for not specifying what type of water we wanted, but it seemed they defaulted to one that was a bit pricey for water. Other than that, great place. I've been a regular at Lock & Key for years because of the consistently excellent bar service during weekday visits. When conducting business for my nonprofit, I've spent hundreds of dollars each time here--it's been my reliable go-to spot locally, always with attentive and welcoming staff. That's why I decided to stop in on a Sunday afternoon for some drinks and an appetizer while in casual clothes (jeans and a cap). Unfortunately, the experience was the complete opposite. I sat at the bar for a full 5 minutes upon arrival and was ignored not once, but twice by the bartender, Freddy. He came to my end of the bar on two separate occasions, and walked away without a single acknowledgment--no "I'll be right with you," nothing. It wasn't until the second time, when the bar back (Moises, I believe) noticed me shaking my head in frustration and tapped Freddy, that I finally got served. When Freddy finally approached, I had to ask if the bar was open before placing my order. This wasn't just disappointing--it felt insulting. The stark difference in treatment compared to my weekday visits in business attire makes it hard not to wonder if appearance played a role. Whatever the reason, it's unacceptable for a returning customer. On a positive note, Moises was attentive, proactive, and genuinely engaging. He stood out as the bright spot--if anything, he deserves recognition (and maybe a promotion to bartender). Consistency in customer service should be non-negotiable, especially for regulars. This experience has left such a bad taste that I'm rethinking whether it's worth coming back at all. I even had a conversation with my business partner who lives in the area. Which is why I was there from Newport Beach house sitting there dog while they were out of town. Management might want to conduct weekly or biweekly meeting's to address staff training on greeting and acknowledging every guest promptly. It's either an individual situation or a management one.
