The party scene has amped up due to the different venues that are hosting watch parties. Beso was one of them, and thus I decided to visit this spot for a good time. And a good time I did have. But before getting here I had to experience its line. Colombia was playing another team, I cannot remember who their opponent were. After this game, Argetina was playing another team, I cannot remember who the other team was, either. I was in line to enter the club while the Colombia game raged. The entrance was suppose to be free. Yet the line was not moving. Which gave me an opportunity to view the dynamics of the line, and quite frankly, also endure them. In front of me were four guys. They were roughhousing, or should I say roughlining. One of the guys made another guy drop his cellphone and glass case. The guy who dropped his items called the instigator colorful names laced with expletives but with a smile and jovial energy. To each their own I thought, but I did not see how this kind of engagement was fun. Then I discovered that the instigator had been kicked out of the club earlier. He was asked to leave anew, to depart not only from the club but from its line. He had tried to insert himself with an existing group and thus enter cloaked by a pack. The three guys did not disengage with the instigator and followed his shenanigans with a grin and bare it approach. I am not sure how they felt when the bloke left but I think they might have felt an internal sense of relief that they did not show in their body language. Soon after it was my turn to feel the lash of the line. There was this security guard or bouncer that spoke to the three dudes in front of me. He explained that the cost to enter was 10 dollars because now that the Colombia game had finished, the after party began, and to enter it would be 10 dollars. I heard three guys behind me discuss the entry free and decided to not enter. I heard them rationalize how 10 dollars was too much to spend for Beso. Their reasons mostly surrounded around the statement one made: "I've been here before and there were not many girls". So they decided to "step out later that night."The biggest take away for me is that they did not want to shell 10 dollars after waiting and being there. They were not cheap, they were responsible with their fun spending, and made choices that were best for them. They reflected what one should do when navigating a nearly suffocating inflation atmosphere. The three guys in front of me entered and so did I. However, the security or bounce that I discussed above tried to block my good time. When he informed the three guys of the cost, he only looked at them and not me. WhenI was paying, he told the casher, "you wanna let him in, he was wearing a tshirt." The cashier nodded yes, and the bouncer said, "are you sure." In my attempt to party, he was the villain of my tale. I was showered, clean, dressed in what I felt comfortable in, and made me feel good, and he deemed it unworthy attire. To him, I say relax, my outfit in no way disrupted the integrity of Beso. But he made me feel like I should not enter despite other people wearing Jersey and t-shirts. I felt singled out, and for what reason I am not sure. The partying was so much. And I did meet a bartender who helped the cause. His name was Marcel. I got three margaritas. When I went for the third one, he was helping another customer, and as she was closing her tab he looked at me and raised his finger to signal one, and I said yes. He had gathered that I was there for my usual, and instinctively shortened my wait. He acted in a respectful and seasoned matter. These actions seem small but they help me feel like the party belongs to me too! The game played in screens in front of us and above us, while the dance floor blazed. I lost myself in the moment, in the good time, which is the highest praise I can offer a club. I had fun, and I was glad I came. At one point, I looked at the lasers of Beso, and my mind was quietly hypnotized because the videos seem to have a vapor flowing within them. I tried to capture a video of it, but I am not sure if I was successful in capture the vapor inside the lights. But I never had seen taht before, and I am not sure where it came from, the vapor within the light. I will go here again, I will just make sure to take the right type of shirt. And maybe have one in the car as backup in case my taste does not meet the quality measure of this place.

Me asking for a good seating and NOT being told it would cost $150 to sit down. Waited 1.5 hours just to stand.

    Ask the Community - Beso

    What is the entrance fee?

Entrance ranges from complimentary prior to 11PM if you are on the guest list to discounted after 11PM if you are on the guest list. If you are general admission it ranges from $20-$30 depending on the event. Bottle service will get you 6 people and…

    Is there parking lot?

They have valet. It's in downtown Downey. There is plenty of street parking and public parking lots in the area. Not a difficult place to find parking.

    Is it a 21+ nightclub?

    yes it is.

What time of stop food orders?

In Beso nightclub you can request for pizza on Friday and Saturday. Food is served upstairs but upstairs is Kuduowl Speakeasy and they have a limited menu with food service hours varying due to a number of reasons.

So what is the difference between VIP service and bottle service? Also what is the difference between 1st and 2nd floor according to the reservation "map" appears that there's more space in one area than the other?

1st floor is the club Beso (great music) while upstairs is KUDUOWL, elevated, mixology lounge with craft cocktails - first and second floor are different owners, different brand, different everything.

    What is the dress code?

Dress code varies depending on the event. No shorts. No steel toe shoes. Hats are ok but must be worn forward. I would say not too casual. Dress to impress is always a safe bet. There is a posted sign for dress code on the night of an event.

Is this place. 18th and over?

    It is 21 and over.

I was there on 6/27. We watched 2 games. Upon stepping out to leave, I decided i wanted to use the restroom and turned around to walk in and the security at the front stopped me. He told me I had to pay $10 cover charge. I reminded him I was already there and JUST walked out. He didn't care. "$10 to go in or leave" I let it go, I just wanted to wash my hands and didn't want to get into it with that loser. Met with my Husband he gives me cash and whatever decided i was just gonna pay to wash my hands. Come around the back try to hand security the money and that guy looked at me confused. I told him what pea brain in the front said about the cover charge and he shook his head and told me not to worry and go in. I was in and out quick and I thanked him for being a gentleman. Sooo, maybe you might wanna look into your shady a** security. 7/3 I get there at 1:30 bar area is empty we sit with my friend we are being served everything was great. UNTIL a security dude came out of NO WHERE, 30 mins into the 3pm game and tells me I need to move because i'm in the way. I told him I had been there since 1:30pm and no one told me to move and def didn't tell me about the "bar line" that I was all of the sudden in the way of. The bartender should have told me to move right away if i was in the way, WHEN THERE WAS MORE SEATS AVAILABLE!!! NOT WHEN IT WAS 30 MINS INTO THE GAME AND I HAD NO OTHER PLACE TO MOVE TO! IT WAS PACKED BY THEN! I really didn't appreciate that he was yelling at me, he was rude from the beginning and when i gave him the same energy back, he told me he was going to KICK ME OUT IF I DIDN'T CALM DOWN. He was giving LDE. When i asked for his name and to speak to the manager he walked away. MIND YOU.... after that some guy ended up standing right next to me the REST OF THE GAME. HE WAS IN FRONT OF THE LINE THE WHOLE TIME AND NO ONE SAID A DAMN THING. I have pictures with time stamps of this guy next to me the whole game. But some how he just wanted to be puffy chested with a woman. Horrible staff. Horrible place. Treat your customer's with respect, don't forget we are the ones that keep your doors open.

I used to have a friend who took me here for a Halloween party that pulsed high to the rhythm of…read morefun. Yesterday, I went here again, not knowing I was going back to the Halloween stomping grounds I once monster mashed in. This visit was more fun as I felt like I had partied in a club nestled in the after-life word that Coco invited us to imagine because I attended El Velorio, here. El Velorio is a celebration of Mexican culture, specifically the art and step of Dia De Los Muertos. I arrived 30 minutes early, to Quiet Cannon (where club Lit sits) and paid 20 dollars for parking. Once I entered, the club space was dead. There were a few people here and there, I bought the tickets, but did not really understood what I signed up for. I am the type of person who sees something advertise gets tickets and then sees how the night will go. I am open to opportunity and engage with chance when it comes. A bit after the 7 the show began. The opening number was a dance by Aztec dancers, scored by a beating drum. The dancers were in full custom, feathers and all. Later in the evening, as I danced, I felt a caress on my neck that felt strange, not good nor bad. It felt like a tickle and slither, like a playful snake stretching on my neck to find its comfort spot. I turned and it was a black feather from a Calavera custom. My mind was arrested when I saw these performers dance. It was beautiful in a quiet way. I wanted to know what the dance called for? Saying that there dance called for rain would be reductive, but, I had no other thoughts to conclude. I hope that their dance called for something good that every person in Lit could carry for a better tomorrow. After the Aztec dancers came an all girl Mariachi group. I did not get their names, I mean no disrespect, there was simply a lot going on. I am not a Mariachi fan, but this Mariachi group was innovative, not only because they were an all female ensemble but because they sang melodies I could recognize. Forever, I will carry the memory of an all female Mariachi group singing 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' on a night where a party grooved to Mexican Culture, which now is also part of American Culture. One of the staff members of club lit supported the group by placing a microphone near the instrument of the musicians. Now the melody of the cello, could be heard better. It was a moment that made the night more magical because it was a human to human moment scored by classical notes. After the Mariachi I viewed a small gallery of art. It had some standout pieces but on the whole the art gallery was a good attempt. There was this picture (that I clipped and can be found in the picture section) of young girl with flowing hair, the color of different shades of water. The moon was full and high above her. Her eyes were light blue, her dress translucent and light gray that was somehow also blue and also somehow the wind of the night wrapping her. The title of the piece was unfinished return. I felt like I saw the Llorona healed. Like she was no longer a spirit of pain, longing for her lost children. She was a spirit of rebirth that offered waters to wash pain away. So her lament turned into splashes of redemption. See her eyes and know the woe you carry become part of water, in its different forms, and for a moment know a pause from pain. One of my favorite parts, of course, was La Catrinas. The women in Calavera paint, with hoop dressed that are full of theatrical flowers, and other macabre details that in sum make the woman look like she got a full makeover for her day of death. My favorite Catrina was the one that was dressed in a wedding dress that was in full black, with details, like a headpiece that showcased a studded skull. Her makeup was on point, it almost made me forget that I was looking at a human dressed appropriately for spectacle. I zoomed in on her makeup, when she was not looking, and, in my opinion, the resulting picture looks like a portrait. I view it and I feel a small chill, not because I am an artist but because I helped immortalize her efforts that spoke of hours of intricate makeup work. After all the visual experiences, I began to danced. I felt great joy jiving to a nearly full dance floor full of people some dressed as Catrinas. At one point, the song 'Oye Mi Amor' blasted. And a Catrina in full garb and makeup danced on the stage, leading us in movement. We were not dong Zumba, but still we sweated, laughed and groove to the rhythm of Latin flavor. I could not help feel alive, and fully in the moment, which can be a a treasure for many who spend too much time in their heads. This place offers substantial bump and grid, and spectacle. I would definitely return to this place, especially when it is associated to a theme night.

There are about 6 talented bartenders who work the bar and each of them bring a unique portfolio to mixology. Let's get back to Amanda! One of my friends who was visiting from Hawaii found Amanda on social media and asked that I take her to Kuduowl to experience this unique mixology. We were greeted warmly by Amanda and she explained the concept of the bar and the drink options. All were absolutely beautifully crafted and served! Delicious! I had a drink a few years ago (Sloe Gin Ramos) and not many bartenders know how to make it, nor do they want to take the time to make it. Amanda and Chris jumped right in and made it (takes 10-15 minutes to make). It was delicious and the preparation was a show! Loved it. All bartenders, servers, and bar backs were working in unison, like an orchestra. You could tell they all enjoyed their jobs and coworkers! It made for a beautiful ambiance. The bar welcomes everyone - from old to young, from gay to straight, and a rainbow of diversity of ethnic backgrounds! This has to be my favorite bar in Southern California! Bravo Amanda & team!

It came with soft little tortillas instead of chips which we weren't expecting. Almost like making them into mini hard cheese quesadillas. The food wasn't a total loss though because there is another partner with a different menu that we are willing to try. Overall we will definitely be back for the drinks & other food options.
