I've heard of La Cita for years, and this is definitely one of those places that has been around for a while and has that classic Downtown LA bar feel. There was a little bit of a line when we arrived, but it moved pretty quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long to get inside. Tonight there was a $15 cover charge. Once we got in, we went straight for some drinks and had a beer and a couple of cocktails. The bar was pretty busy, and it did take a little while for us to get our drinks, but we eventually got them. The DJ was playing a lot of good Spanish music, which really added to the atmosphere and made it a fun place to hang out and have drinks. One thing I thought was really cool was that they had a photo booth inside. I wasn't expecting that, and it was a fun little extra. They also have an outdoor bar area, which was nice because it gives you another place to hang out and take a break from the crowd. Overall, La Cita has that typical Downtown LA bar vibe busy, energetic, casual, and definitely geared toward having drinks, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. If you're already downtown and looking for a place to have some drinks and enjoy Spanish music, it's definitely worth checking out. We had a good time stopping in after dinner!l.

It looks like a fun place to hang out, dance, and listen to live bands if that's your thing. There is a tiny stage area that was sectioned off, and I imagine the place easily gets packed. The wood interiors have seen better days, and the seating is somewhat sparse to make room for a larger dance area. It looks like the type of place that gets stuffy quickly as there aren't any windows from what I recall. They have a patio, but we didn't make it out there. There were a couple of TVs with the World Cup on at the time, but I'm not sure if they keep sports on the screens all the time. Be ready to have your ID checked at the door.

What's changed about Kiss Kiss? Drink prices for one! They've multiplied by 1.5x at least (!) and now they seemingly do not limit capacity at the club because we felt like we were in a can of sardines in there. The bartenders are still nice and polite at least. The music is also not at all any good anymore. We came on Halloween night because (1) we are familiar w/ Kiss Kiss and (2) we figured K-town was less chaotic than WeHo. This is where we learned they had tickets for sale at the door to get in (please brace yourselves,,,, it was an astounding $45......). We sucked it up and paid (our mistake we would soon learn). The night itself was advertised as a 70's disco Halloween event. At NO POINT in the entire night was 70s music played as every. single. song. was synth/house music. At the most maybe 4 songs were synth/house/EDM remixes of 70s music. Not to mention!!! They only played 1 Halloween song all night! The only positive from the night was the decor was nice. Security guards at the bathroom side make you leave your drink "under their watch" while you use the restroom. I stayed behind and switched with my friend to keep a constant eye on our drinks because the man on duty was doing everything BUT watching people's drinks!! In a town where women are known to be roofied frankly quite often is insane to me. TLDR; Cover fee is $$, drinks are $$, place is so packed you're bumping into people ever 5 seconds, security is useless, do not come here.

Unfortunately, one of my friends had an encounter with two men trying to grab her after refusing to go back to their room. Eugene went out of his way to follow up on the incident. It was not crowded AT ALL, clearly not the place to be, and the employees clearing out the crowd at the end of the night were treating people like degenerates for still sitting down when the lights came up.

I stood up and kindly asked the manager hey i fell really hard jt was really embarrassing but your floors are super wet. He then said "are they clean now" and i said yes the. He said "well me as a man i would go ahead and stand up and deal with it" i said okay well i was just trying to inform you. Then he told me i just wanted to get a free drink tried to gaslight me. He then asked his assistants to record me inside. I felt harassed and i honestly just told him that all I wanted was an apology i also told him that his approach was bad and instead of saying what he would do he could just have told me im sorry u fell. He then proceeded to tell me that i had to leave and that i seemed "intoxicated" of course im at a club and thats their excuse. Oh hes here hes intoxicated. I dont want anything for free. I have my own business. All i want is for then to take accountability and get a better manager. Seriously someone better that knows hospitality could be running this spot. This is the only spot in LA and orange county where Ive had a problem. Above is the "business card" he gave me to intimidate me. The funny part is that he calls his "security " and they do anything he tells them and manipulates them into saying something they dont even know. I will be pursuing legal action unfortunately just because of the unprofessionalism and the lack of conduct from the manager and not only that. The way this manager handles the club I will say this and its a fact 100% his bouncers scan IDs and they dont even check the age. I have proof on video. They dont check the age. They let underage girls and boys in here.

I started going to the Mambo Craze Cabaret in August 2021. OMG. This place is off the hook. I went expecting live music and latin dancing in a classy venue considering the reputation of the Cicada Club. The live music was top notch playing classic mambo music reminiscent of the New York Palladium days. Each musician had an impressive solo. The saxophonist stood out. A must see. The latin dancing was fun and amazing. This event had some of the best latin dancers I have ever seen. The energy was so infectious that even friends that I knew there who were not really dancers had a good time dancing as well. I looooved how everyone was dressed in period outfits from the 1920-1950s: Men in suits and hats and suspenders like from an old detective movie. And women in flapper dresses and glamorous sparkly gowns. Mixed in with people dressed in modern suits and beautiful cocktail dresses. So many beautiful people. The venue itself has a Gatsby style ambience, the architecture, art, and design looks like the classiest place in Los Angeles. Even the elevator is the original vintage elevator from the 1930s complete with scissor gate door. All that was the part that I expected. The part that I didn't expect was the amazing shows. Not one but 4 different performances, all different. There were some cabaret/burlesque style shows with women dancing with sparkly outfits and dynamic choreography. There was one dancing in a large hoop, that can hypnotize you as you keep watching. Another one came out of a birthday cake with sparklers in her top and singing happy birthday to the celebrant of the night. Another one was dancing on a giant martini glass. And another was a tap dance number. This truly is an amazing, classy event. I have been going back ever since. Looking forward to the next one. I wore a zoot suit last time. I think I will wear my tuxedo next. read more

I've been to many Salsa dance events. But this, by far, it's the classiest one of all. Everybody's dressed up either formal attire or something from the great Gatsby. I loved the ambience, the live music just made me think of classic mambo venues. And the performances: Cabaret, burlesque, swing, salsa, tango fusion, ballet folklorico, and some acrobatics. Very fun and talented performances. At one point, we had a couple who performed in the show who also performed at the Bad Bunny halftime show. What an honor to have them. And a pair of Mexican Ballet Folklorico dancers who were in great shape. And for the birthday celebrants, a giant birthday cake came out where a woman popped out with torch fireworks on her bra and sang happy birthday Marilyn Monroe style to all the birthday recipients. And after that, they had a giant martini glass with a lady swimming in it. What an event to remember. I'm definitely going again. read more

Way over priced. Pushy event promoters. My friend had her party at this event and it turned out to be a nightmare. She ended leaving really upset. The promoter was basically at the table announcing how much she owed. So unprofessional. I guess everyone was supposed to pitch in. But for $700 you recieve nothing! No balloons, no cake, you get nothing but a far away table for 4 people with a table cloth. We didn't even fit at the table. Aside the $700 we paid $50 each to get in. The band was great and the shows worrh the $50 but the $700 for a table with a table cloth. Is not worth it. There are no waiters serving drinks you have to go to the bar and get your drinks. Not good for birthdays ok to go just once for the experience. It was a interesting experience. read more

Have you been at Mambo Craze Cabaret before? This review only allows 5 stars. I do believe it should be a 10 stars. It is a great experience in a very unique place at he heart of historical DTLA. You will traveling in time and get ready to enjoy the Mambo days at the world famous Cicada Restaurant and Vintage Nightclub. The ambience is very welcoming and charming. This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. I am sure and have no doubts you will have lots of fun with your friends and loved ones. Must see show! From the moment you step in, you are taken back to a time period filled with joy, dance, and old-school music. The event is set up perfectly, with a good balance of cabaret shows from impressive performers and salsa dancing. I love the live music led by a world-class saxophonist. Was there choreography? No. Was there consent from the audience? Also no. Was there ART? ABSOLUTELY. We came for one musical and left having performed six. Somewhere between Broadway, burlesque, and a middle-aged fever dream, we found our people. Tramp Stamp Granny, you magnificent little den of theatrical debauchery. Five stars. No notes. A monthly club in LA that has an excellent mix of vintage Jamaican music: reggae, ska, rocksteady,…read morethen they mix it up with Northern soul - all played on vinyl records! The scene crowd dresses up classy and dapper. The guest DJs are serious collectors, so you may not recognize some of the songs, but it's usually upbeat and happy music. It's fun to watch people dance - there is no grinding and baby-making on the dance floor here. Everyone is respectful of each other and their space bubble. I follow them on facebook, because the location might change. Typical cover of $10. Friendly bouncers. The first time I went to the Soulside club night in 2008, I met the love of my life.
