Did the dine and show on a Tuesday. I believe it's called Valentino's Dine and Delight. Although ticket says 7, show doesn't start until 8 and you don't get your food until 9. Show was cool, wasn't too impressed. Felt more like a comedy magic show, which was fine. They call people on stage, that was fun. The only thing that really bothered me was the serving size of the food, especially the fried rice with chicken. Very disappointing. Maybe charge more but give a decent size for the meal. We all left hungry. Bummer.

This is one of those places it's been on my list forever and I finally decided to give it a try. I went to an 8 o'clock show on Friday night. I love the entrance. It's very beautiful. When we were entered, we were told to have a seat in the main bar and wait for someone to come and let us into the show. The front bar is very cute. The server told us that we can open a tab there and then transfer it into the magic room. We ordered one of their signature drinks. However they were out of a key ingredient. This is always a pet peeve of mine. It was cream of coconut so nothing too crazy that they shouldn't have been able to get. I'm a mocktail girl and I appreciate that they were able to make one of the drinks on the menu a mocktail. We also ordered the spring rolls. What I wish would've been made more clear is that food does not go into the magic room we had to hurry up and finish them so we could go into the magic room. I would not have ordered them if I knew this was the case and the timing on when the person would come out and take us in. So we made it in the magic room. I love the secret entrance. The room itself is pretty cool. The magic show was subpar. Very strange humor by both magicians. Also, I could totally see everything that Fitzgerald was going to do like at one point he was supposed to make a potato appear out of the air, but I could totally see it in his hand. It was way too big and his fingers were spread out, and I could see the potato . The interactive cart trick was fun . The fire/razor eater was very excellent though. She was the best part of the show. So overall, this place is just average. It was a fun one time experience, but I wouldn't pay to go back.

I have been attending Black Rabbit Rose for over a decade and have always made it part of my evenings in Hollywood. Back when this was Butchers & Barbers it carried the same vibe but since the addition of live magic shows able the continued solid drink menu it's stayed stable constant and most importantly welcoming. We love the amazing mixology master of Mario. He makes us feel part of the family and makes a killer Whiskey Sour Served Up with egg white. There is a special energy here that makes a person who lives here feel special. Even though I don't know the Houston brothers personally I always sing their praises for curating such impeccable cultures in each of their venues! We are lucky to have them and people like Mario behind the bar to conduct our evenings libations!

It's been so long since we visited this magic show lounge. We went for a special Halloween magic show this time and it was so much fun. Place is still the same and it felt a little stuffy inside cause this is a very old building. But the 20s vintage style was very much to my liking! The magic show was great. The magicians were funny and very interactive with audience. Drinks were not bad, the bubbly was better than cocktails though. I liked how organized and orderly everything was. This is a great place to see a magic show or just hang out a bit in the heart of Hollywood! Ps. Parking was $30 and increased to $40 by the time we left around 11pm.

My friend surprised me with an evening of magic at a sexy speakeasy. We got there right when they opened bc we had wanted to have dinner before the show. While we were able to enjoy cocktails, sadly dinner didn't workout before the show, but the servers went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I really wish I remembered our servers name because she was amazing! Dinner and drinks were ret-ta-go when we got out of the show. We had: Cocktails were great! The Dove Tail was my fave, but the one with vanilla vodka was surprisingly good too! My friend enjoyed the Zig Zag Lady and the Dark Arts was okay Vegetable egg rolls: meh Thai Tacos w/ Beef: delicious! Literally just beef on a tortilla but the flavors were divine Drunken Noodles w/ Shrimp: Very yummy! Pad See Ew w/ Shrimp: okay I enjoyed the magic show and they made me and the other birthday attendees part of the show in special ways. Asia Rae and the card trick were my faves of the evening!

It was fun, playful, and really interesting. I came here for the magic show, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Black Rabbit Rose is what Hollywood dreams are made of! Incredibly underrated, I'm so happy I got the opportunity - through @freedomfrymusic's Instagram, to be put on the list of this ever elusive small venue. I came on a weeknight withy plus one and found free parking on Hudson (impossible on weekends). Black Rabbit doesn't have a sign - look for the logo! I gave the bouncer my name, he gave us bracelets and in we went! We stepped into the small bar with a few booths feeling transported into another world. It was an album listening pre party so my guest and I got our drinks at the bar and after, the show was starting. There is a line to exit and be seated and staff was great, seating us at tiny tables in a candle it room with a small stage. Since we were only two, we were pretty mystified at our luck getting close to the stage, a couple rows back. Great view! Good service wasn't available for the event but that was fine we were prepared. We had a great view and the audio was great! I'd definitely consider coming back for a Magic show, particularly if tourists are in town for that old timey Hollywood vibe. A great date night idea but also the perfect to rent out for a small event, it's worth the trip!

Loved the ambiance of the bar and the room that the Magic Show was in. It was very dark and mysterious while comfortable and classy. The servers were attentive and welcoming and accurate in their descriptions of the drinks. The specialty drink menu does need to be broadened! The cocktails were nice and not weak at all, but still left more to the imagination. The performers of the evening were definitely fun & entertaining and the Magic was impressive! I'd definitely plan another night out with friends here. More attention needs to be given to keeping the bathroom clean and was quite disappointed that it was the single stall bathrooms. The Thai entrees and appetizers were delicious!! The parking lot we found was $25 which was a little steep for a one hour show but probably average for Hollywood.

Nostalghia hanging from the walls as her vocals wash through us.

On the infamous and jaded-with-tourist tchotchkes-Hollywood Boulevard, on a corner, sits an inconspicuous speakeasy bar, all velvety and chandeliered inside. The cocktails are okay. But what blew us into another dimension was the concert in their small Vampire Victorian-styled adjacent theatre. Nostalghia and her band of master musicians lifted us off, and we flew through a soundscape that I can only describe as otherworldly and fucking marvelous! The band was jamming. No rehearsal required with musicians who are at the top of their game. Nostalghia's shockingly deep voice soared and dived and whispered and moaned, and every now and then screeched like a banshee. I don't think this woman is human. We were transfixed for two hours, then floated home on a space cloud of soul-changing beauty, had dreamless sleep and woke up filled with her Magic. Catch her if you can, she is a known recluse and only comes out when she needs our blood. It's worth it!

The venue is located in the historic Hudson Hollywood Apartments building. There street parkinga a pay lot around the corner. We were a large group. We did the Tuesday night show and dinner. Our hostess was very professional and quick with our orders. I enjoyed the selection of Thai cuisine. I found the food to be very good. The drinks were good as well. Not overly strong. The magic show was intimate with several 2 seater tables. It was also engaging with audience participation. The magician Gary Fitzgerald was entertaining. He took the time to give us a bit of history about the venue, the building, and also to learn the audience names. Overall, everyone take the time to make sure we were enjoying our experience. Truly a rustic hidden gem. As customary, I end with, "Will I return?" As fast as you can say abra-cadabra !

We made reservations for Friday night for the 8 o'clock show... Now I get off of work at five so I went home got dressed and then we took an Uber and headed to the show. Haven't been to Hollywood in a while. It's an a really cool spot near a bunch of really cool things and if it wasn't Friday and I was being tired and having to work on Saturday, we probably would've went now we were absolutely amazing and had our socks knocked off by the drink that we got it's called the honey bunny absolutely delicious then we got our socks knocked off by some preshow magic. The guy was so good. We were all just standing there in amazement like with mouth dropped open so we knew we were in for a good time as soon as they let us in and they sat us down. It was a party of seven. It was just so amazing. Speak easy looking just all of these things everywhere and just amazement and beauty and and just looks magical, BMC and magician and the fire eating and the razor blade swallowing and the guessing of peoples passwords on their phones absolutely just jaw-dropping. This is a must see show. It's great for birthdays, anniversaries first dates. It's a really cool spot.

January 30, 2025 | Hollywood: A mix of comedy & interactive magic was a fun way to celebrate the birthday of three friends; twins & my best guy friend! We had VIP tickets, which nearly had us on stage, as we were in the front row! Inside Out: Beautiful red roses adorned the outside door and the lights around it changed constantly! Loved the secret entrance to the magic show, felt like we were in a speakeasy! The color red throughout the room w/low lights was a vibe! We focused on the stage front and center, as the chandeliers sparkled above! Magic Comedy | Fitzgerald: What a fun show! Fitzgerald is an amazing magician with a whole lot of personality, loved every minute of his show! He was absolutely hilarious! I highly recommend seeing his show, as you will nearly laugh nonstop, and amazed by his presence! Friends and I described him as a mix of Austin Powers and Mr. Bean! Hahaha! Asia Ray | Mind Reader: She was incredible! She was able to figure out items that belong to certain people simply by energy! We still have no idea of how she read the minds of some of the participants during the show! Larry Wilmore: His comedy was fun, as well as his magic! My friend ended up winning a bottle of scotch as a prize! We still can't believe that Larry guessed the alcohol he was thinking of! Jackson: Thanks for the introduction, taking phenomenal photos of us & welcoming us! Thai Food | Spicy Basil Fried Rice w/Tofu: Incredibly tasty, full of flavor, enjoyed each bite! We dined in the bar/restaurant part of the venue before the show! Drinks | Thai Iced Tea | Red Wine: Red wine was perfect during the show! The Thai Tea was freshly made & arrived at the end of dinner. I took a couple of sips & I wasn't into it; left it on the table. My friends enjoyed their drinks! Overall: I highly recommend! We all had a great time seeing close-up magic, laughing plenty and loved the overall red vibe of the magic room! Even better, all 3 of my friends were called on to participate in the show...super fun & plenty of laughs! Score!

Black Rabbit Rose Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Black Rabbit Rose

What is the difference between general admission and VIP?

    Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

I don't know if this venue is wheelchair-accessible. It might be best to call them and ask specifically if they might have a separate entrance for customers who need a wheelchair-accessible entrance.…

What time does the jazz start? Do reservations need to be made to get a table for the jazz event? Thanks!

Jazz starts after the show ends around 9:30pm. Last time I was there reservations were not needed for jazz

Are masks required in the theater currently?

What does the VIP ticket include? Valet parking available? Any food available for purchase with magic show?

Nothing ... absolutely nothing. It's a scam -- there's no VIP section and the free drink that's supposed to come with the VIP tickets is a foul concoction.

    Are vaccinations required?

    No.

Is this club absolutely for 21 and over or can teens get tickets?

My guess is there is most likely an age requirement. You have to enter through the bar. When we went, there was someone checking IDs. I'm not certain if there is an age requirement for a regular show ticket or not, however there is for VIP tickets…

    Are you still open (Covid)?

Yes Instagram shows they are holding illegal concerts with bar service.

Do they serve food non-alcoholic cocktails ? -- i can't consumen alcohols anymore

    Yes they do

Is it kid friendly and are shows throughout the day?

It is a bar. So I'd so prolly not. I wouldn't take my son personally.

Is it worth going any other days than Friday through Sunday?

Can 18 year olds go see the show or is it 21 and over?

I believe it's for 21 only. There is a security guy outside who checks IDs.

How much is the magic show per person?

    $40 pp

Does anyone know what "The Cabin LA" is? It is one of the choices on their website, but I can't find any info about it. Thanks!

    Is magician here every night?

Yes, there is usually one magician that walks around the bar throughout the night.

Do they change up the show or is it always the same? I want to take someone but I don't want to see it again if it's the same show.

Friends of mine have been there, all at different times and days of the week...we have all watched a slightly different show with a few of the performers being changed from one show to the next.

Is it 21 and over for the show?

    Yes.

    How long is magic show?

    About an hour.

    Is there an age requirement?

It's a bar that serves alcohol so 21 and over!

I ordered the American breakfast, which was filling, flavorful, and a great value. The tiki flight was also a highlight and such a fun way to explore the different drinks and discover what you like. The colada was by far my favorite! The rooftop itself has a wonderful atmosphere--it feels open and lively while still offering a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard. The celebrity wax figures placed around the rooftop add a playful, uniquely Hollywood touch and make for some fun photo opportunities. Great food, creative drinks, generous portions, and a memorable setting. I would definitely recommend stopping by for brunch or drinks while exploring Hollywood.

(This experience occurred on 05/08/26. This review was mistakenly posted for the Madame Tussaud Wax…read moreMuseum.) I've dined at the Rooftop restaurant several times, and I've noticed a general trend: extremely slow service, but tasty food. My most recent visit on Friday, May 8, however, permanently changed my opinion of this restaurant. (I dined in a group of four for a 6:00 PM reservation.) At the start of meal, everything seemed as good as usual: extremely slow service, but tasty food. I ordered the Sea Bass as my main entree and the Garlic Cheese Puffs as my appetizer. Another person in my party also ordered the same entree. After 40 minutes--yes, 40 minutes--the staff begins dropping off our food. They brought everything except my sea bass, but they brought my friend's. After 5 minutes, when it seemed apparent that our waiter wasn't going to check in on us, we signal him over and ask about my sea bass. He quickly says he'll "check on it." Then, 5 minutes later, he returns saying the dish would be right out. At this point, I've been waiting almost 55 mins for a sea bass dish. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so this started to become frustrating, especially with the lack of attentive service. Finally, my dish arrives. My partner noticed that the color of my sea bass didn't match the golden brown, crispness of my friend's sea bass. I then cut directly into the center of the fish and discover it's purple and raw. Inedible. Now, it's 7:00 PM. I've waited 1 hour for raw fish? We quickly wave down our waiter and show him the raw fish, which he takes back to the kitchen for a re-fire. Because I was seeing John Mulaney at the Hollywood Bowl at 7:30 PM, I requested the order to be canceled. The manager visits our table and tries to offer me another dish "on the house," but given the time and the fact that I was served raw food, I declined. I didn't want to rush eating my food and quite frankly didn't trust the kitchen to cook more food for me. Flash forward to receiving the check. The manager gave us a 50% discount, which only did two things: 1. It removed the sea bass--but why not just void that dish? Oh, they said they can't do that. That seems odd to me, given the type of restaurant the Rooftop purports itself to be. 2. It gave us $20 off a $200+ bill. By the way, the restaurant still charged an automatic gratuity charge of 20%. I understand that's the Rooftop's policy, which they do state on their website and their menu. But why should the staff receive an automatic gratuity when they clearly forgot to put in my sea bass, then served it raw, and didn't bother to refill our water or check in on us throughout the meal. Again, the restaurant has extremely slow service, but, this time, inedible food. After we pay, the waiter brings my party free shots, which we all politely declined. None of us ordered shots in the first place, drinks yes, but we weren't in that kind of mood. I don't believe the Rooftop did all that they could to make the situation right, and the manager didn't even bother to check in on us at the end of the meal. Her lack of urgency was appalling and, quite frankly, disturbing. I highly doubt she would be okay with this kind of service if she were in my position. I will never dine here again, and will never recommend it. What a shame. This place was starting to become a regular spot for me.

There were also seats at the bar but not enough for our group size. We came in for drinks and food before heading over to TCL Chinese Theatre. We ordered a few drinks and some shareables. The wild mushroom tagliatelle was phenomenal the pasta was just right and oh those delicate but powerful herbs, divine! The Japanese sweet potatos were so tender, the sauce that was one them was so yummy, I loved it. The steak & frites were scrumptious, steak was perfectly medium rare and fries were classic. The charcuterie board was so good we got the 3 cheese and 2 meats, everyone enjoyed it. The fresh baguette was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside, only thing that could have made it better was a little balsamic. (Visit: 11/23/2024, Saturday evening around 10 )…read more About The Lobby -- "Thoughtfully reimagined by Nickey Kehoe (interior designer), the Lobby at The Hollywood Roosevelt is a stylish, inviting space to unwind. With dishes from Shirley Brasserie available all day, it's the perfect spot to enjoy everything from light bites to seasonal plates, surrounded by the warmth of the historic fireplace and the charm of this iconic setting." -- from The Roosevelt Hotel's website. Shirley Brasserie, the restaurant referred to above, is also located in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (located next to The Lobby). The "iconic" they refer to is the fact that this hotel is historic -- it was built in 1926 during the Golden Era of Los Angeles architecture. It is named after Theodore Roosevelt. The first Academy Awards (Oscars) was held here in 1929. The hotel had its ups and downs since then but currently it looks beautiful and thriving. Take your out-of-state visiting friends/relatives to this place. Because this is a big part of "Hollywood". I recommend The Lobby to hang out after a long day's work or after a nice dinner nearby. This is where my sister and I went after our dinner at Musso and Frank. My sister ordered their Espresso Martini which was really good. I had a beer. Our server wasn't as warm as the ones during my visit in 2023. I think she was an introvert or a bit of a nervous person. But she did not seem potentially horrible. Restroom: I did not go to the restroom this time. I think there was a line. But I remember back in 2023 that you had to ask for a key or a code. Which is understandable for this area. Parking: I recommend the valet parking. If validated, the fee is really reasonable (I forgot how much they charged). We got ours validated because we ordered those drinks from The Lobby.

Went here with my parents and partner on Saturday around 11AM, and I have both good and bad things…read moreto say. Sadly, our experience started off very poorly. The bad: The host was extremely unprofessional and un-accommodating of my family's request. She has black hair with a streak of grey/silver hair I believe. While we had 2 different 2 person reservations, we asked if we could sit together since I don't get to see my parents often now that I live out of state and it was my birthday. We understand this isn't a request that can be always accommodated, but we were willing to wait to sit together. The host said this was not possible and we accepted sitting at 2 different tables. When my parents were sat, we noticed an empty table next to them. My father then asked the host if we could move and she refused, saying she isn't sure if rid totally sanitized and it would take a very long time for it to be cleaned by staff. She then walked away from us while rolling her eyes and cussing under her breath while walking right past my table. Even my father noticed this!! We understood, but a minute later a staff came and fully cleaned the table. Our waitress came to introduce herself and we requested to be moved once more, and she said of course and had us move immediately to be next to my parents :) Big shoutout to her! Again, I'd understand if the restaurant was busy and packed, but after us I saw no one sat at the 2 person table we were initially sitting at and the entire restaurant was slowly emptying out with not many new parties coming in... The host seemed to have extreme anger issues and lack of professionalism that I would expect from someone who knows the availability of tables. Now, for the good: The restaurant itself is amazing with great ambiance. I want to thank our awesome waitress and other people working at the restaurant, truly everyone else was great! They were funny, welcoming, and very patient. The food was tasty and we loved the lemonades we ordered. I recommend the pastrami dish from their brunch menu :) I would definitely recommend coming here, but the host at the front who is supposed to "welcome" guests is clearly not doing her job well. It truly left a sour taste in my mouth and I'd likely turn back from the restaurant if I saw her as the host again.

Came here for my friend's birthday dinner, and it ended up being such a fun spot for my group. The…read moreatmosphere was probably my favorite part--dim lighting, beautiful decor, and it definitely has that trendy vibe that's perfect for celebrating or catching up with friends. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

We came to Ka'teen specifically for their Dine LA menu and made a 6:45 PM reservation. When we…read morearrived, we were told the Dine LA menu was already sold out--which was confusing since they open at 6 PM. Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.
