What a tantalizing experience I had last night. I'm from outside of town and just wanted to dance to some Bachata and reggaeton. I got more than what I had planned for. Clean, security visible and present, great drinks, cigar area and amazing dancing to eveb more revitalizing music both DJ and live. This is just a tip of the iceberg. I have to give an enormous shout out to the burlesque dancers who did their thing, the band and the saxophone player. It brought me back to the days where clubs were for dancing and enjoying the vibe. The patrons were a mixed bag. Young, older, average and gorgeous/handsome. Couldn't ask for anymore. What a shame I have to write this poor review, because my party and I's experience was absolutely unacceptable. First of all, they were WAY over max capacity. It was nearly impossible to move, no matter where you went it was packed like sardines. Getting 1 drink took 20 minutes each time (mind you ONE BEER is gonna cost you $10) It was so packed everyone was spilling and dropping their drinks everywhere. I had someone drop a glass next to my feet not once, but TWICE. I had SHARDS OF GLASS IN FEET, BLEEDING- and nobody came to clean the glass or provide any assistance to me. I was stepping on glass for the whole rest of the night. I informed workers about the broken glass yet nobody ever came to clean it. By the end of the night there was literally shards of glass everywhere. This is a safety concern and biohazard issue? And surely they must be violating max capacity laws. To top it all off, we reserved 1 table, which we were told upfront would cost $350, which we agreed to. The next day we find out they absolutely scammed us. They DOUBLE CHARGED US- leaving us with a $700 charge. It's a shame because the live band and burlesque performances are truly incredible, and this has the potential to be such an incredible and unique club in LA, but they are creating absolutely terrible experiences for their patrons by not implementing a max capacity. We even had a reservation and our party still had to wait outside upwards of 30 minutes. The bartenders and staff were rude. Security was unhelpful. Everything about my experience unfortunately was so negative I don't see myself ever returning here unless some serious changes are made. BE AWARE!! read more

This is a cuban bar that has bomb live music and shows which takes place in the upper part, thats for the main room. If you get tired of it you can go to the next room which and a DJ will be playing modern/pop music, if you don't vibe with it go to the next room which is the cigar lounge and chill. It is really fun and i often go there with my husband. Don't let these negative reviews hold you back! Yes, don't get a table because you are going to be dancing! And maybe watch where you are going since its pretty dark inside. Use your brain lol You should definitely go. I highly recommend. read more

I'm honestly so disappointed by my experience at La Descarga. I used to love this place and have always given it rave reviews to locals, which is why I decided to have my birthday party here this year. I made four separate reservations for 8 people, and all were approved. When I arrived, I was told someone had already entered under my name. I offered to show my ID and explain that it wasn't me, but instead I had to wait outside with about 30 people for nearly 30 minutes. We were then told that each reservation was actually only for 5 people--something that was never mentioned in our confirmation emails. We were also told everyone would be charged a cover. Since we were fine with standing room and didn't want bottle service, we were initially opposed to purchasing a table, but were told that was essentially our only option. Then, the next morning, we discovered we had been charged for TWO bottles when we only received one--nearly $700 total. Between the poor communication, rude bouncers, and incorrect charge, this was an incredibly frustrating experience. What makes it worse is that I genuinely loved La Descarga and always recommended it to people. Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't feel comfortable recommending it or returning. read more

Loveeed celebrating a friend's birthday here. After we paid for valet, we went up a flight of stairs to the pre-entrance room. The entrance to get inside the main are is very cool and unexpected. Inside there is a bar, with the band on the second floor. The dancers and fire performers will move between both floors. It was really fun - I wasn't sure what to expect but I would come again. I love this cute speakeasy! I go there for free bachata on Wednesdays. It's a great free class for beginners! I love going there on Thursdays and Fridays because of the burlesque dancers, and music. The main room with burlesque has salsa, Cumbia and a live band during the show. The cigar room has reggaeton, merengue and a mix of music! DO NOT GET TABLE SERVICE - La Descarga I went to La Descarga for my birthday and the experience was a complete disaster. My card was charged THREE TIMES for table service. On top of that, there was ZERO security in the section where we paid for a table. While we were on the dance floor, random people sat at our table and drank the bottle we paid for. When we came back, the bottle was nearly gone. Absolutely unacceptable. What are you paying for if anyone can walk up, sit down, and finish your bottle? To make matters worse, I have called five times about the triple charge on my card and no one has followed up in over three weeks. No accountability, no customer service, no urgency. This ruined my birthday and left me both angry and frustrated. If you value your money, your time, or your celebration, DO NOT purchase table service here. I had read the mixed reviews here before coming to La Descarga but decided to give it a try with a small group of friends nonetheless and enjoyed it. The entrance fee was $20 and there was a little line of less than 10 minutes when we came in the late evening. It was perfect timing for the burlesque/salsa performances, we had a good time! Their website hours are incorrect, they open at 9pm. We and several others had a reservation at 8pm but they didn't open officially until 9. The speakeasy entrance is fun and the vibes are very prohibition meets old school Cuba. The back room has a cigar room where you can actually buy Cuban cigars to smoke. The front room has a live band and burlesque show but they started later than we expected - like 10:30pm instead of 10pm. The show was excellent though so quite worth it. I only tried a mojito for drinks but it was tasty! A fun place for a night out but beware if you're wearing heels, it's kind of same rules as a Vegas club. This place was so disappointing! After hearing it was a "cool speakeasy," I thought I'd give it a shot, but what a joke. The crowd was basically all older sleazy men wearing stupid side hats, getting WAY too handsy in the crowd. Seriously, be prepared for that. When we first got there, the promoter at the door tried to split up our group of 7 girls into pairs or make us buy a $360 bottle just to get in faster. He literally told us it would take HOURS to get in unless we did this. We obviously said NO, and guess what? We got in within 30 minutes max. But here's the kicker--the place is TINY. It was so packed, I swear they have to be violating some kind of occupancy rule. It was suffocating. But wait, there's more! Within 45 minutes of being there, THREE of our group had their phones stolen, plus two wallets and an Apple Watch. It happened so fast, and with how packed the place was, there's no way you'd notice until it's too late. We immediately told a security guard, and you know what he did? He acted all distraught like he cared, but then he literally walked us out the back to the front entrance, where the people charging the $20 cover did NOTHING. They were like, "Aww, your stuff got stolen? Too bad, boohoo," and didn't even try to help us. They just kicked us out so we wouldn't make a scene. Honestly, even if the staff isn't "in on it," their complete lack of response to what happened is disgusting. I've seen other reviews about stolen items, and surprise, surprise, those reviews are getting deleted. So this place clearly pays to cover up their problems. We're not letting this go--we're filing police reports for the stolen items and reporting them for clearly violating occupancy limits. This spot is NOT worth the hassle. The people stealing stuff are heartless, and the staff is incompetent. I will NEVER be coming back, and I'll be telling everyone I know to stay FAR away from this place. read more

So racist it's almost funny. The bartenders won't even look in your direction if you don't pass a paper bag test. This was my third visit, and this time I brought my boyfriend who is Brazilian. I walked up to the bar, and the bartender immediately walked away. After standing there for around ~10 minutes waiting to see if he would take my order, I asked my boyfriend to switch spots with me and stand in front of the bar. The second we swapped, the bartender approached my boyfriend and asked to take his order. Sent here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy so had to wait like 30min to get in. I loved the entrance that they do if you're a first timer to give you that speakeasy experience. As soon as you walk in your instantly hit with a ton of culture and great music to create a very unique ambience that makes you just want to dance. Pair all of that with some great cocktails, live music and short burlesque shows that come on every hour, and you have a truly great experience.
