What an absolutely wonderful evening. It all started with the great customer service on the phone when I called to make the reservation. Once we arrived the interior had a relaxed, easygoing vibe, modern but cozy, with stylish design touches that made the whole space feel welcoming and unhurried. Even the waiting area with it's low lit seating surrounded by book cases was really cool. My wife, my sister and I had a wonderful table near the fireplace in the center of the dining area. Nearby were draped booths that would be perfect for a more romantic evening. Our server was, Haley...she was incredible. Very personable, helpful and extremely professional. You'll be in good hands if you're lucky enough to get her! Then the food...Wow. My wife and my sister got the filet migons, watching my wife's euphoric reaction of taking her fist bite made my evening! Omg...thankfully, my wife let me try garlic fries that came with the filets, and they were the best I ever had! I got the Langostino Fettuccine...outstanding. You have to dig a little spicy, which I do...but the vodka cream sauce is the real highlight of this dish. For deserts we got the apple cobbler, the creme brulee and sticky toffee cake. All three were fantastic. But I preferred the cobbler and the toffee cake the most. We didn't get the Le Petit Gateau, their chocolate cake...but we decided to get one to go! HA...it's unbelievably rich and pretty tall and big. It's topped with candied wild cheries...it's two days later and we're still eating this yummy treat. All in all...I would recommend this for any occasion...wether you're looking for just a night out with solid service and great food, to a romantic evening. The great news is I didn't have to worry about parking -- valet is available for just $10, which is an excellent deal. As soon as I walked in, a security guard greeted me right away and kindly asked if I knew where I was going, if I was waiting for someone, or if I needed any assistance. It was a nice welcoming touch. While walking toward my friend, I noticed a beautiful and cozy lounge area with plush couches and a massive library setup. It looked absolutely stunning -- I didn't snap a photo, but I definitely will next time. I can already picture myself there with a glass of wine and a good book, no electronics, just pure relaxation. The wine selection is excellent. The menu is small but everything is full of flavor -- the tastes truly burst in your mouth. My waiter was professional, attentive, and very kind. He offered me several samples until I found the perfect one. The ambiance is wonderful. You're seated inside, but it somehow feels like you're outside. Make a reservation or you will be crying. This place is perfect for private events and it is the best for special days like Birthdays or holidays. They have a huge wine list and a full bar. The service is perfect. They know the menu and they never rush you. This is a place to enjoy and not just rush in and out. Their menu has great items. We love it all. They have a Little Gem Salad that you can have has a starter or as an entrée. It is amazing. Their short rib and braised lamb shank is like nothing you have had before. Went to Firefly for the first time on Valentine's Day. The entryway is an unmarked wooden door. Use the valet kiosk to guide you on which door is the entrance. Upon entry, they have a bar and lounge area. Looked more casual and like anyone could come in without a reservation. We were seated at their last dining room area so we really got to see how massive the restaurant was. Loads of seating in an indoor outdoor tent situation with each section still having the romantic charm their main area holds. For Valentine's Day they had a prix fixed 3 course menu: Chilean Sea Bass - Incredible - perfectly cooked. The sauce on the sea bass was packed with flavor and the capers on top added a nice hint of salt. The sea bass came on a bed of mashed potatoes and broccolini. The sauce on the plate itself was soooo incredible. Loved that you could run all the veggies over the plate so that each bite contained that incredible sauce. Tuna Tartare - Extremely fresh tuna. Served with a cripsy wonton type of chip. Molten Chocolate Cake - Came with vanilla bean ice cream. The cake was moist and warm. The ice cream was just the right sweetness to offer a refreshing pairing with the richness of the cake. They also offered a tasting of this sweet dessert wine along with a dungeness crab salad. Both were very small samples but very delicious. Service was amazing even for Valentines day. Ambience was romantic with their decor and they even played love songs throughout our time there. They also had a Photo Booth where we could take as many pictures as we'd like and print them all for free! Amazing. Valet was $10. This was the most incredible meal I've ever had as a whole. TLDR: Great food, especially the bread and potato based dishes. Parking is tough unless you use the $10 valet. Romantic vibe, but the music gets way too loud at times and makes conversation difficult. --------- Parking can be challenging since it is mostly street parking. If you do not want to use valet, which costs $10, you might get lucky and find a spot nearby like I did, but I would not count on it. The restaurant was very accommodating when we needed to modify our reservation after missing an earlier time. Inside, the space feels romantic with dim lighting. The music, however, was inconsistent. It shifted from romantic and classical to rave and pop style tracks. When the louder music came on, it was blasting and made conversation difficult without raising your voice. We were celebrating a birthday, and the staff kindly offered a small wine shot, which was a nice touch. I was hoping for a dessert or something sweet to mark the occasion, but that was not provided. Still, the gesture was appreciated. The food is the main reason I would return. The baguette was excellent, and while it seems simple, the butter truly stole the show. The beef stroganoff was also a standout. The meat was soft and tender, and the potato pairing worked perfectly. The garlic smashed potatoes were another highlight, with a creamy sauce that tied everything together nicely. The miso cod, however, fell flat for me. Friend's recommendation on celebrating something special. There's no actual parking lot and valet ($10) is the only way to go. First time here and can't find the door as there's no sign of entrance when arriving. Place do take walk-ins but making a reservation is recommended. Got the reservation through Open table at 8pm for outdoor seating, but it was freezing at the time. Arrive 30 min early and speak with hostess if it was ok to be seated inside since we don't want to freeze. Hostess confirm reservation and automatically say "happy anniversary." Our surprised, we were seated right away and inside. That's plus When walking in, the bar area has a lounge as well, where bookshelves can be found and cute little stools to chill and relax while waiting for your table or so. Walk further past the bar and the dining area is massive. We were seated in the back by an actual fireplace and that's a good thing. Seated right away and our waiter surprise us with complimentary red wine for this occasion. Red wine was just right and not too bitter. Menu is simple as it has one side of drinks and the other side is the actual menu. Chef's pix stix is a three course meal (appetizer, entree and dessert) from selected choices. Kind of like Hell's Kitchen of San Diego. Both of us chose the chef pix of the following: tuna tartare, pork belly, steak frites (medium rare and rare) and side dish of Mac N Cheese and Brussel Sprouts. Desert: chose sticky toffee pudding and crème brûlée. In addition, waiter recommend the Pink something for the sweetest nonalcoholic drink. - Pink something drink: just the right amount of sweetness and not fill up with ice. - Steak frites & fries: gf say the rare is very tender and you don't saw it in order to cut it. Demi-glaze sauce is excellent - Mac N Cheese: it's good and has not over power by truffles - Brussels Sprouts: gf first time having and say it's very good. Dig further to have it coated with sauce to make it more appealing - Sticky toffee pudding: it's upside down brownie with side of ice cream of pecans but it's not too sweet and that's good thing - crème brûlée: gf say it's awesome and the tart doesn't overpower the dish Now here's the interesting part: order the steak frites medium rare. At first I thought my gf has mine since it's the redness is better. But looking back, hardly red so I thought it might be raw or more less rare than my gf. So, point this to waiter, waiter apologize and will cook a new one. 10 minutes later, new steak but was ask to cut in the middle to make sure. Nope, it's the same temperature. So ask to just refry this one and not get a new steak. Third time, actually got it right and with another order of complimentary fries as an apology. In the end, the medium rare steak was comp. I've been to Firefly three times now, and it continues to impress. If I'm not mistaken, this place has been around since the early 2000s, and there's a reason it's still here. First thing you notice: there's no sign outside. Just ivy-covered walls. You could walk past it and never know. But step inside and it's a completely different story. Every time I've been here, the place has been packed. The space is cozy yet open, with a beautiful bar and a lounge area that feels like a library. It's actually a great spot to wait for your table, though you can eat there too. Warm, inviting, and comfortable without feeling stuffy. I celebrated my 50th birthday here, and they made it special. The birthday cake came with a candle that was honestly very Instagram-worthy. Memorable in the best way. On a previous visit, I brought a friend from Arizona and had their Wagyu cheeseburger (sadly no longer on the menu). Still one of the best burgers I've ever had, especially with the fries. Two nights ago, we had our office Christmas dinner here. I was honestly surprised how easy it was to reserve a table for 11, given how popular this place is. The staff who answered the phone and the hostess were incredibly friendly and accommodating. No attitude, no stress. The food really delivered. And that says a lot, because my coworkers are not easy to please. From appetizers to dessert, everyone enjoyed their meal. We ordered mussels, meatballs, and crab cakes to start. All excellent. For mains, I had the filet mignon and sirloin steak, both very good. Desserts like the crème brûlée and lava chocolate cake were a perfect ending. My boyfriend and I recently went to celebrate our 3-year anniversary and this was our first time actually trying the dinner menu at Firefly. I had made a request to be seated at the private two-person tables they have, but did not get that request fulfilled, which was disappointing but, we got seated next to the fire with two tiny complimentary drinks, which was nice of them but, also wasn't the most pleasant place for us to be seated. My back felt way too warm from the fire behind me but, nevertheless we had a good time. They had a $75 per person 3-course meal that came with an app, entree and dessert, and since we both liked the options there, we decided to get that deal. For my app, I chose the tuna tartare which was really fresh and delicious, and my boyfriend got the burrata which was average. I'd recommend the tuna. Next for our entrees we both got the steak frites. The steaks were a beautiful medium rare and juicy. Also seasoned well, and the fries were free as well. We decided on the Galentines menu which has a great assortment of options. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly! It was so juicy and definitely well-seasoned. This hidden gem has all of the romantic date night energy youre looking for! A little door nestled in an ivy covered building, you cant even imagine all of the magic that waits for you inside! I personally suggest opting for the valet because street parking is a bit of a nightmare in this neighborhood, and its only $10, so not too bad. We had reservations for 8:30 in a cabana and took a seat at the bar for a drink while we waited. Good thing the company and spirits were pleasant, because we ended up waiting over an hour and a half! This was the main reason I docked them a star... its nice that they allow people to relax and enjoy their time, but to have a reservation and not be told in advance that we would have to wait so long past that time was a little much for us. Thank god we weren't starving, but the hostess said the party had been there for almost 3 hours. Maybe having a decent time limit on the cabanas would be helpful. The food was great, although I would say it was priced a bit high for my liking. I got the tuna tartare and for $30+ was expecting a bit more, but delicious all the same. Firefly is one of those places that feels like a warm hug with dim lighting. The drinks are always top-notch and the ambience is perfectly cozy, like the restaurant equivalent of your favorite sweater that somehow also serves cocktails. Service was great and genuinely friendly, even when our card decided to audition for a true-crime documentary and got flagged for fraud. Our waiter said it happens a lot with Chase, so apparently we're part of a very exclusive, mildly inconvenient club. We never skip the tuna tartare and crab cakes, our emotional support appetizers that have never let us down. This time for Dine LA we kept our tradition alive, then went for the steak frites and short rib, finishing strong with sticky toffee pudding and molten cake, which we loved enough to consider writing thank-you notes to the pastry chef. The only hiccup was the steak frites. The steak itself was innocent, but the sauce tasted burnt and kind of confused, like it had been through a rough breakup. I'm guessing it was just a small kitchen oops moment, but it probably shouldn't have made the journey to our table. The braised short rib with mushroom puree was earthy, savory and robust. A definite win! The husband's under-seasoned steak was far tougher than he'd prefer, as were the undercooked haricot verts. He said the peppercorn sauce's attempt to mask the flavorless beef was noble yet futile. I love this restaurant. I've only ever had appetizers and drinks there, but it's such a sexy little hidden gem. It really feels tucked away from the madness of Ventura Boulevard. The staff is great and the service is awesome. It's perfect for a first date, a date night, or a girls' night out because the inside is so whimsical. It's covered but lets in a lot of natural light, and has a fireplace in the middle. All the staff were professional and helpful. Our server Nick was super attentive even though it was so busy, always making sure we had plenty of water and letting us know are drinks or food were coming out shortly. We started with beverages. I ordered the Spanish Romance cocktail and my husband ordered the Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned. Both were delicious. From the special Easter brunch menu, we had the arugula and machego salad and the broccoli frittata to start, and a side of Brussels sprouts to share. For the main dish, he ordered the Steak and eggs and I ordered the Atlantic salmon. And for dessert, he ordered the molten chocolate cake and I had the panna cotta with mangos and berry drizzle. The New York strip didn't really stand out for me and the presentation wasn't the best, so I probably wouldn't recommend that one if you're looking for something impressive. Its always a pleasure to come back to Firefly and have a nice evening with family. This time we were finally able to sit in the library lounge!! it only took about 4-5 visits. Firefly has such a beautiful atmosphere. they have both the indoor seating and the outdoor area (covered with heaters!) are super cozy and aesthetic. The service was amazing and so helpful the entire night. Parking is either street or valet right in front, which made things easy. The food was honestly really good. I can't even pick a favorite because everything we ordered was so good. The daily special, a lobster pasta(don't remember the actual name), was super flavorful. I also loved the mushroom pappardelle, so rich and perfectly cooked. The brussels sprouts had this slight sweetness that made them really stand out. They even gave us complimentary drinks, which was such a nice touch. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the ribeye was amazing with the three different dipping sauces which was really good with to try. We celebrated a birthday here, and just FYI, they do have a cake-cutting fee of $5.50 per slice. Overall, such a great experience. I'd definitely come back! read more
