    tuna tostada

Great experience last night. Arrived at 6 pm on a Friday night without a reservation and they are hopping. Hostess kindly offered us a table if we would be willing to be finished by 8 pm. NO PROBLEM. We had the traditional and skinny margarita. Flavors were good, though servings are petit as glass is small and the huge ice cube takes up lots of real estate. Room for improvement at $16/each. We had a tuna tostada, ceviche and carne asada. All dishes felt original, artisanal and curated. This is not your average mexican food. Overall flavorful, fresh and delicious. Service is a little interesting - everyone works everywhere so it's unclear who your server is, but not sure it matters. They are attentive and efficient. Decor is warm and inviting though not sure of the theme. Liked it anyway. Packed the whole time we were there. Would recommend and new time, probably with a reservation.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try after realizing it had been open for about a year. It's located in the old Sherman restaurant, and the concept is definitely unique. The menu focuses exclusively on traditional Mexico cuisine, and even the bar stays true to that philosophy, every spirit is imported from Mexico, or house made, with no American brands. I really appreciated the authenticity. We started with the mushroom fundido, which was delicious. The only downside was that it didn't come with salsa, and adding salsa molcajete or salsa de la casa costs an extra $7-12. At the $25 price for the fundido, it feels like a little salsa should be included. They also only give you 4 tortillas, so if we had our son with us or a group, the size would not have been enough. The Caesar salad was surprisingly one of my favorite dishes. It had great flavor and, considering everything else we ordered, was probably the best value on the menu. The tostada de cangrejo was packed with flavor, but at $20 it was tiny, barely enough for a child-sized portion. For entrées, my husband ordered the carne asada ($45). It was cooked perfectly, but unfortunately it lacked seasoning and really needed salt or some type of sauce to bring it to life. The potatoes were also quite dry. To the restaurant's credit, the manager removed the steak from our bill without hesitation, which was greatly appreciated. The cocktails were well made and tasty, but they were also incredibly expensive. The real star of the evening was dessert. The flan was hands down the best I've ever had, silky, incredibly creamy, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. I'd honestly go back just for that. Overall, I love the restaurant's commitment to showcasing authentic Mexican ingredients and traditions, however, with the high prices and a few disappointing dishes, I'm not sure it's enough to bring me back for a second visit. I can also say our server, once we voiced our disappointment, disappeared never to be seen again!

This is our new favorite spot on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks! The food, service and vibe here is epic! We went in blind not knowing what to expect and we're glad we did! We used Resy to book a reservation for our anniversary and the day we went, our daughter was on a field trip and was running late to return as the bus was running behind. A quick call to the staff there and they let us bump our reservations to 30 minutes later. We were so grateful as we really wanted to try this place! Once we arrived, we ended up only being 15 minutes late which the staff laughed as that was the grace period for original reservation at 5:00 pm which they said, "you guys did make it." Our waitress was extremely attentive and great! She kept checking in on us to make sure everything was tasting great and if we needed anything. We ordered the following to drink: -Chelada (aguachile negro, tepache vinegar, lager beer, salsa maggi, derrumbes salmiana and camarón) -Oaxacan Old Fashioned (el tesoro x mirate private barrel reposado, mal bien x mirate espadin, nogave and mole bitters) -Salsa Verde Margarita (charred tomatillo, green chile, cilantro macho, derrumbes salmiana and lime) We ordered the following to eat: -Smashed Avocado (shallots, lime and tostadas) -Ceviche de Pescado (kampachi, leche de tigre and cancha) -Taco de Pulpo (flour tortilla, grilled octopus, chorizo, queso oaxaca and pineapple pico) -Carne Asada (flat iron steak, chiles toreados and confit potatoes) -Pollo Asado (half chicken, seasoned wagyu tallow fries and cauli purée) We ordered the following for dessert: -Trilogía de Cacao (3 chocolates, pecan crumble and passion fruit gelato) -3 Leches de Carajillo apricot gel, berry compote and cinnamon crisps) For us, the stars of the show were: -Salsa Verde Margarita -Ceviche de Pescado -Taco de Pulpo -Pollo Asado The kids saw someone order the Mangoneada Margarita, saw the popping boba and couldn't stop staring. LOL. I asked if they could make a virgin one for them, but they said they couldn't but offered to bring a cup of boba for $1. We definitely said yes! Thank you guys for the option! They also made a makeshift sippy cup for our toddler which meant the world to us. This place has all the bases covered and takes great care of you. There's street parking but we opted for public parking across the street which was a parking structure. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. From the food to the staff, it was perfection! Thank you to the whole team who made our anniversary special. Be back soon and that's a promise!

I have had this place on my list of places to visit for many years but never made it until recently. I usually stick to gin martinis so this restaurant which focuses on tequila / mezcal was not always at the top of my list but I am so grateful to finally have tried it as I will be coming back! I sat at the bar and was served by a super friendly and knowledgeable bartender who knew the menu and cocktails thoroughly. I ordered a delicious drink of which I already forgot the name of but it was delicious. I ordered the chips and guac which was also good (I tend to like my guac with a little kick and that was missing here). The experience was lovely and really enjoyed the ambiance which was welcoming and cozy. Ill be back!

My friend and I had been wanting to try Daisy for awhile and on a recent Friday I had "fresh from the salon" hair I didn't wanna waste, so we went. First of all - it is pricey. Yes, I'm well aware of location, ingredients, operating costs, etc...but damn. Getting 2 cocktails felt really indulgent. The interior/ambience is lovely - really appreciate what they did to the place. First had the guacamole maragrita - i love avocado and appreciate a less sweet spin on cocktails. It was really good, I like the play of pureed avocado and citrus notes. Next I had the creamsicle maragrita - I love the combination of orange and vanilla so it sounded intriguing. It was...a bit odd. There was.a smoky mezcal flavor that overwhelmed the drink making it hard to detect that orange/Vanilla flavor. And there was supposed to be mezcal in it. However, I did appreciate the server coming by to pour the Cocktail into a more chilled glass, mine got warmed up while drinking. Docking a star because the food seems like kind of an afterthought for the price. These days I usually need food with my cocktails. Wasn't very hungry so I went with one of the cheaper snackier options - chips and salsa. It was serviceable. My friend got the guacamole with tuna, and said the guacamole was too basic. Would come back for the drinks for sure. Wish they had a daytime happy hour with at least daytime happy hour food pricing.

The place was cute. Happy we made reservations as I can tell the place gets packed. Food and drinks were fantastic.

I really enjoyed dinner at Daisy's . The food was very good, the margaritas were solid, and the service was attentive. My favorite part was the vibe. The décor is beautiful, the atmosphere is fun, and the Latin music was perfect. The only thing that bothered me was that an employee benefit charge was added to the bill. I didn't notice it until after I paid and left a tip, and I'm still not sure if that charge is supposed to be included or separate. I wish that had been explained. Overall, a good spot with good food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere.

Loved the look of this place, but it is among the loudest restaurants I've ever been. Table we sat, I had my back to a hightop in the bar and the women talking to each other sounded like they were on each side of my head and shouting. Ugh! Server, Yvette, was absolutely stellar! Attentive, great suggestions and very friendly. Food was mostly good, but the two apps I'd pass on. Grilled Oysters were salt bombs, and Scallop Aguachile was ridiculously citrus-forward and all I could taste. Components were good, but just too much lime for my tastes. Tacos were great! Especially the Pork, and the Octopus. Mushroom was good, but I'd pass on it if we returned. My wife got the Chicharron del Parque (Ahi Tuna) and that was tasty, too. Drinks were all good.

Finally made it here for brunch! Loved that it was family style so we could try a few different items. To start my friend and I each got the pastelito margarita. At first I thought $20 was quite much but this drink was delicious and VERY strong. We shared the wagu empanadas, chilaquilas, tostada de atun and the passion fruit donut for dessert! We are up everything! The servers were super attentive and we never felt rushed. We sat by the open window and it was such a lovely day! Easy to find a metered spot.

I had no idea the English translation of "margarita" is and that is why this wonderful Mexican eatery is called Daisy. Chef Alan Sanz has put together a great menu and and Beverage Director Max Reis has bought every tequila known to man I think and can they make a margarita. Wow. The place is ever so pretty and you can sit at the bar or dine at a super comfortable table. The place is clean and so nicely decorated, we just love it. The service is perfect. You get happy servers who can't wait to help you and can list most of the tequilas they serve. A lot of people go there to drink and get a starter, but they are nice and the place is never too loud--it it not quiet, but it is nice. The food is great and they have a diverse menu of great food. Sometimes we go there with friends and just order every starter they have. They are all great. The half dozen oysters are always great and you must tried their grilled oysters. Their Tostada de Atun has smashed avocado, yellowfin, chintextle aioli, and wonderful hoja santa. Also try the Aguachile de Callo which is made from great scallops, aguachile verde, seasonal fruit, and some citrus. There is nothing there not to love.

    NO CELEBRITY TEQUILA :)

Sat at the bar and learned a fun fact from the bartender: everything served behind the bar is from Mexico! The Salsa Verde cocktail was perfection. The restaurant itself is super cute inside with great vibes, and I loved the street Daisy is on, so many spots nearby I want to come back and check out. Food-wise...kind of underwhelming. I got the branzino and while it tasted fine, it definitely wasn't worth the $53+ price tag. Pulpo and mushroom tacos were alright. Solid drinks and atmosphere, but the food was just okay.

Came here for drinks and appetizers, which were good but not great. I preferred the drinks over the appetizers but they were small pours. I definitely want to try more of the food menu next time. The dirty Shirley margarita $20 was my favorite. My friend got the creamsicle margarita $20 and the guacamole frozen margarita $20 (very unique flavor). I also got a Tommy's margarita $16, which is a skinny margarita. I got the smashed avocado (guacamole) with tuna carnitas, which is $26 so very expensive. We also got the salsas de la casa $12, which were good. Excellent service. All in all worth checking out this unique spot.

Extremely delicious carne asada plate. Every bite bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We also tried cocktail drinks and each one was well balanced and flavorful. Definitely a repeat spot to try more items on the menu. Ambience was very nice and fitting to the best Ventura blvd has to offer I will definitely be back!

    Cute decor.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday for a quick drink before a movie, and the "vibe" was non-existent. They have four TVs at the bar, but the setup was bizarre, two were completely off and another was just frozen on a directory logo. The biggest issue, however, is the cleanliness--or lack thereof. The place is incredibly dirty. It feels like it hasn't had a deep clean in weeks, maybe longer. The bar top was disgusting, the floors were grimy, and even the woodwork looked like it hadn't seen a rag since opening day. They are charging $17 for "signature cocktails," which is bold for a spot that feels like a neglected dive bar. If you're going to charge premium prices, you have to at least wipe down the countertops. Service-wise, the bartender was friendly enough but low energy and minimal level of service. To make matters worse, a shift change happened while we were there, and the departing bartender made us close out our check and start a brand-new one with the next person. Why should the staff's administrative hand-off be the customer's issue? It's just unprofessional. The Valley has so many actual dive bars with character and plenty of high-end spots for a great cocktail; I'm not sure where this place is trying to fit in. It feels like someone bought it and just stopped caring. We won't be back.

Lovely spot for Mexican food with fun vibes!…read more I came for Sunday brunch/lunch with some friends. I made a reservation through Yelp a couple days beforehand and there was plenty of availability. The restaurant is located right off Ventura Blvd and has an attached parking garage in the basement which can be accessed via the parking lot behind the restaurant. There were plenty of spots available Sunday afternoon when I came. It's a bit hidden, but there is an elevator from the garage to the top level where the restaurant is located as well. We had two babies in strollers with us, so I requested a table with plenty of space nearby for the strollers. They seated us outside on their covered patio, and indeed, we had plenty of space. I peeked inside and there's also a nice lounge area with a beautiful flower wall as well as a proper dining area. When we arrived, there was a live DJ spinning tunes. I assume he's there during brunch hours, as he left around 3 pm when brunch ended. I started with a frozen lime margarita ($12). It was okay; it felt like it was only half frozen as the ice wasn't blended that well. For my main, I got the famous Anejo carne asada and shrimp plate for $40. Yes it was pricy, but the portion size was also huge! I was starving and somehow managed to finish the plate, but it'd be a great dish to share for two people with small appetites. I really enjoyed it as well. I asked for the steak to be cooked rare, and they didn't overcook it. Each bite was super tender and flavorful and paired well with the rice. Everyone else also enjoyed their dish. One friend got the wet chicken burrito for $15 and it was massive! Another got the veggie fajitas with steak added and really enjoyed her dish as well. Solid food all around. I would love to come back on a weekday and try their happy hour! Sipping on $5 margaritas and $6 sangrias sounds like my idea of a great time!

Naturally, I've noticed some changes. Over the years, happy hour times have been reduced, prices have crept up to a point where the value doesn't quite match the food, and it definitely feels like the truly vegetarian options have disappeared from the happy hour menu. I eat fish, but I'm often dining with others who are vegetarian only, so this has a bigger impact than it might for most people. The magic that used to bring me back seems to be gone. That said, the patio is a great environment for a family meal, and the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive--so at least the vibes are still doing their job. I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. The salmon was grilled nicely and tasted good, but it was a little undercooked in the center--like it was still waiting for the rest of the food to catch up. And the salad itself didn't really taste like a Caesar--more like a "Caesar-adjacent" salad... which, honestly, I guess is a thing now. Also, I used to order the cheese enchilada from the happy hour menu, but it's no longer offered. This was a favorite option for me, and at least one person in my party always ordered it. The banquet space remains impressive, and it's a fun, festive environment for large parties--it's great for celebrating after graduation--something we've done more than once!

Matt, Sabrina, and the entire team are all such gems. Scott also deserves special recognition. He's a huge part of what makes The Rendition Room such a special place. Whether he's introducing a new cocktail, sharing the story behind a spirit, or simply taking the time to check in, his passion and care for every guest shine through. It's people like Scott who transform a great bar into a place you truly feel connected to. On our most recent visit, we tried the new Decade & Debauchery cocktail, celebrating The Rendition Room's 10 year anniversary, and it's phenomenal. Balanced, and beautifully executed. In a city full of great bars, they have managed to create something much harder to find, a sense of community. After all these years, it still feels just as special as the first time we walked in.

When I went up to order a drink, there was a staff member that was just starting her shift-Sunday 7/20/26 around 1200 noon. She looked around the bar, had someone walk in front of me and served them immediately. She never noticed the line behind me waiting to order (about 5 customers). she never smiled, very indifferent and gave a very negative vibe. We will not be back again. I don't tolerate staff like that. She cancelled out the wonderful staff person that helped us first. She was top notch.

The atmosphere is casual and…read morefestive, with TV's playing sports and a varied crowd that includes daters, older couples, families and singles making the most of their weekend. There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

The space isn't very large but they have some tables inside, some small "booth"-style seats that only seat one person per side, some bar seating, and a couple tables. They also have a table out front in their patio. They have an extensive wine list with a little bit of everything. They also have a happy hour until 6pm which gets you $2 off select wines. I've come here before and tried a bunch of their sparkling wines which was so fun and delicious and last night I came by and tried one of their NA sparkling rose wines which was pretty nice! I love that they have a couple NA wines on their list. Staff here are always so friendly. Prob my favorite local spot, just wish it was bigger!!

For starters, I think the pours were kind of lacking? Just feels like much smaller pours than I usually get at wine bars. The menu was pretty small, and apparently out of date because a few of the things we were interested in they didn't have that day. We also had like 3x different people serve us, so by the end of it I wasn't even sure who I should be asking for the check. My friend and I sat outside, so maybe the service would be better inside or at least at the bar, but it was just kind of... average at best. I think our waitress was new, so she wasn't really able to answer any questions, and the ones she did answer, ended up being corrected later. Which actually is TOTALLY fine, like I totally understand. But then when she brought our first wines, she accidentally knocked one over or hit it with the other glass or something (it happened fast) but it shattered one of the glasses spilling red wine everywhere, and even a drop on my white shirt!! She was suuuuuuper apologetic, and I can tell she felt bad, and we were not mad. We just kept saying that its okay and accidents happen. She did even bring me soda water for my shirt. Then, we asked if we can do the charcuterie plate with just cheese and no meats (we don't eat pork) and she said sure. She told us the number of cheeses to choose, we did, but then we got a lesser number served to us by a different waiter, and incorrect cheeses. He kindly brought one of the missing cheeses, but informed us that the lesser amount was actually the correct amount for this menu item. Okay, we would have chosen differently had we known that, but alright. Maybe I'm delusional, but between the cheese mixup and the wine spillage (and staining my white shirt), I kind of half expected a little something from them. Like comping one of the four glasses of wine, or maybe an extra little top off or something to say "hey sorry we're a mess today." I would never ASK for it, because as it was I felt bad for the girl who was new, so we just paid (and tipped of course) and left. Overall, its just nothing to write home about...
