What a lovely restaurant! Located right in the heart of downtown studio city. It has a wonderful ambiance and is decorated so nicely. There's some outdoor patio seating, tables inside, and bar seating. It's dimly lit but not overly so and feels intimate. Not pretentious whatsoever. We got some drinks. 5 o clock shadow was a gin and passionfruit drink and it was really nicely balanced and not too sweet. The corn margarita caught my eye so I ordered it but I didn't love it, and our waiter Nikolai didn't make me feel bad about it whatsoever and happily suggested that I get something else. So I ordered the strawberry whiskey sour instead. For food, we ordered a few dishes between my bf and I and we split everything. The kanpachi crudo was a delicious way to start the meal. Small but mighty pieces of fresh fish with a bit of a kick to it. We loved the sauce it was served over. Next, we got the charred cabbage. It was exactly as the name suggests, two chunks of cabbage which were served over an umami sauce, and the onions in the dish were a nice pairing with the cabbage. For our main, we split the whole branzino. Wow, this dish was scrumptious and we enjoyed every last bite. There weren't too many bones and it was cooked perfectly. If you haven't noticed already, they know their sauces and this dish didn't disappoint. Buttery and citrus. The skin was perfectly thin and crispy over the tender fish. We loved this dish! This restaurant is such a nice addition to the city and we thought the service here was exceptional too! Nikolai was the best and made our experience here that much better. read more

The most common definition of a vignette is a visual effect that darkens the edges of an image so your eye is pulled toward the center. It's an odd name for a place where the center - the food - is currently the weakest part of the frame. We had a reservation and still waited about ten minutes to be seated. Once inside, the room works: warm, intimate, the kind of space that makes you want to linger over another glass. Our server was the clear highlight. He was attentive without hovering and genuinely helpful with the wine list. That side of the night felt right. The food was less consistent. Most of the plates felt like appetizers trying to pass as entrees, both in portion size and in price. The Gougères arrived warm on the outside and cool in the middle. The tuna crudo ($23) was four ordinary slices swimming in oil. The pork belly and shoulder with cucumber relish had real flavor, though it came out lukewarm after a long gap between courses. The grilled hanger steak with shallot butter suffered the same problem as the crudo -- too much fat, and the sear pushed just past good into slightly burnt. The bigger issue is the neighborhood. Ventura Boulevard already has several places doing this exact concept - intimate wine bar, small plates, good room - more consistently. Bacari in Sherman Oaks and Unidos (just a few blocks away) are both serviceable examples that currently execute the idea with fewer misses. When the competition is already solid, it's hard to see the clear reason to come back here for dinner. There's a decent wine bar in here trying to get out. If I return, it'll be for the room and a few glasses... the kitchen still needs to catch up. read more

First off...it gets loud in here. If you're looking for a lovely atmosphere and you like some jubilant shouting, excellent! Maybe not the best for quiet dinner conversation though. We were here an hour before close on a Tuesday night and it was almost totally full! Their menu is so interesting, we had a hard time making choices. We will definitely have to come back here to try other things, given how much we enjoyed everything put in front of us here. We started with the Spring Beans And Fresh Cheese salad with ricotta and toasted sourdough. The bread was outstanding. This is the friendly kind that I don't have trouble digesting - great flavor, excellent texture, delicious crust. It was lightly fried and buttered and served alongside raw chopped snow peas, pea tendrils and a tiny bit of mint. It was so refreshing! I could eat this every day. Wonderful flavors, excellent freshness to all ingredients and a truly enjoyable combination of textures. The portion was also a good size. Then we got the cheese breads... oh my. If you've had a cheese bread at any brazillian restaurant, these are similar. The taste was divine, the textures were both delightfully crunchy and melt in your mouth soft. The cheese flavor was strong and beautiful. I'd order these again in a heartbeat. They could be dangerous. Next time we will truly have to try very hard not to get 2 orders of them! We followed that up with the leek pasta with fennel bulb and holy moly, I have such a soft spot in my heart for delicate spring pastas like this. The flavors were all so gentle and pleasant, nothing overpowering, each element something that would be background in another dish, shining in the foreground here instead. The pasta itself was expertly made, the sauce surprisingly light and creamy, and the flavors of everything just worked so well together. Subtle dishes like this make my heart happy. We also ordered the Japanese Sweet Potato, served on a hazelnut yogurt and this was also unbelievably good! Next to the cheese breads, this may have been my dining partner's favorite dish! A potato! I agreed tho, it was such a nice flavor, such a satisfying texture and such a generous amount of delicious creamy yogurt. A knockout! Service was very attentive, super knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful navigating my food allergies. The space was cozy, while still feeling like you had your own space. The restroom was clean, the bar was lovely, and everyone we interacted with was very welcoming. They could stand to do something about the echoey loudness of the space - maybe some baffles on the ceiling or walls. Parking was somewhat of a challenge, as it always is in this part of town, but I'd say it's worth it to me for food this enjoyable! If you drive around the triangle, it shouldn't take too long to find a spot, especially the later you come. read more

Vignette is a lovely addition to Studio City. It comes from the team behind Graze Social Club and after years of doing pop-ups, they have finally opened a permanent space on Ventura Blvd. The whole concept is very California-driven, with a big focus on seasonality and local sourcing. A lot of the ingredients come straight from the Studio City Farmers Market, which takes place every Sunday right behind them off of Ventura Place. There is a genuine effort to support small farmers and highlight the quality of California produce, and that really comes through in the food. The menu has many familiar flavors but with subtle global influences, so it feels approachable while still being interesting. It is the kind of place that works for a casual dinner, but also feels nice enough for a date or special occasion. The team behind Vignette has experience across every part of hospitality, from farming and butchering to cooking and bartending, and that shows in how the restaurant runs. To Start- Bread & Butter-sourdough with homemade butter Farmer's Market- Charred Cabbage-quarter cabbage served with confit leek jam, picked fresnos, smoked vinegar and herb salad. *I will say this was my favorite thing over all. Skewers- Beef Pho (2)-wagyu cow tongue with Thai avocado sauce, herb salad and peanut crumble Big Plates- Whole Branzino-grilled branzino with citrus butter and charred citrus. *I think it was fun that they served it as a whole fish and left the head for aesthetic Dessert- Duck Fat Caramel Pudding-burnt meringue, thyme shortbread and olive oil Chocolate and Orange Tart-shortbread crust and candied orange Overall, it was truly a tasty and visually pleasing meal. Also, I would highly suggest parking in the residential next to Radford for free and easy access and for finding a spot. read more

This new spot on Ventura Blvd is so good I've already been twice! From the moody and romantic ambience, to the friendly service (shout out to our waitress Taylor), to the inventive California inspired dishes, everything works and leaves you wanting to try more. Below are my favorite dishes: Hanger Steak - 5+ stars. I'm not a big meat person, but this steak was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. It's complemented with a burnt shallot butter that pairs perfectly with it. Whole Branzino - 5+ stars. I am a big fish guy and this was executed flawlessly, and also served with the head (don't eat that). It had this citrusy butter that also had a whisper of smokiness to it that I really enjoyed. Chocolate Tart w Orange - 5+. I typically don't enjoy chocolate with orange but the orange element was subtle and totally works. The crust was light and buttery and the chocolate was perfection. (Insert drool emoji here) Kanpachi Crudo - 5 stars. A great way to start a meal, light and full of flavor. A must order dish! Pork Skewer - 5 stars. This was a fun small plate with an Asian flair to it and totally tasty. My partner is still talking about this dish. Homemade Sourdough Bread (with butter) - 5 stars. Quite a generous portion and also acts as a great vessel to soak up the flavors of the other dishes throughout the night. Leek Tortellini - 5 stars. My only complaint is that this is a smaller portion (5 pieces of tortellini) and I wanted more! Give me more!!! They offer a great selection of wines here and also have a sommelier on hand to help you navigate the right choice, while also allowing you to try a little sip before committing. Rumor is they're waiting on a liquor license, can't wait to have a martini with that hanger steak! I'll definitely be back soon to continue eating through the menu and also appreciate that the parking has been easy on both trips. Well done Vignette! read more

Just opened and already one of my favorite spots in Studio City. Came without a reservation and they squeezed us in at the bar, which ended up being the perfect seat in the house. Big shoutout to David who was knowledgeable about the wine and food! So nice! Staff overall was really on their game for a brand new spot. The tortellini was the highlight of the night, the pork belly skewers were perfectly charred, and the Indian inspired eggplant skewers were a really fun surprise. Bread and butter alone was worth the visit. Charred cabbage also smacked. Decor is warm and moody in the best way. They're still waiting on their liquor license so no cocktails yet, but I'll definitely be back for those and everything else I haven't tried. This place is going to get busy fast. read more

Welcoming Vignette to the Valley, we were excited to come support, especially while still mourning the loss of Vintage Wine + Eats. They've done a beautiful job with the space, and it's clear a lot of thought went into the space to keep the bones but make it their own. That said, the food and overall atmosphere fell a bit short for us. Ventura Boulevard has such a cozy, laid-back neighborhood feel, and this didn't quite capture that warmth. The menu felt very adventurous despite being fairly small, and the pricing felt a bit steep for what was offered. We ordered a variety of dishes hoping something would really stand out, but unfortunately nothing felt memorable enough to bring us back right away. That said, they're still new, and I genuinely hope they find their rhythm and evolve. I'd be happy to see them succeed in the neighborhood. I will say, the music was absolutely a highlight, truly a 10/10. It brought such a fun energy to the space. read more

Amazing experience! We met the 3 owners at the farmers market while they were promoting their opening and got the pleasure of spending our Mother's Day dinner at Vignette! We ordered a bottle of wine (Somm gave fantastic recs), whole branzino, a few shareable, and dessert! I work in the wine/restaurant industry and let me tell you, 5/5 stars! The service was amazing, kind, knowledgeable and quick. I know they just opened but seeing the owners also running around touching tables and chatting really made the ambiance feel like home. Food was beyond! We ordered so much and I left feeling stratified yet not so full I was going to burst! The courses are savory and bold, while still being light and perfectly portioned. Highly highly highly recommend! read more

This place transported me to NYC - it really felt like a little bistro in the Village with a cozy upscale vibe inside and clean candlelit sidewalk dining outside. The food was beyond. Everything we ordered had a special thing about it that elevated it - the Japanese sweet potato with hazelnut yogurt was elegant comfort food. We 4 shared the plates so I also got to taste the chicken, and the grilled steak, the fig salad, the fresh sourdough, and the cappuccino mousse, the tangerine sorbet, and toasted rice ice cream with raspberry jam - I may be butchering the names, but I really enjoyed everything I tasted. This is a lovely dinner out. read more

We came in as a party of 9 with a reservation and were seated right on time. The restaurant has a great vibe, lively without being too loud, and the service was genuinely excellent. A special shout out to our server, Beckha, who was fantastic. She noticed that part of our table didn't eat cilantro and made sure those dishes came out with it on the side without us even having to ask twice. That level of attention was awesome. The drinks were decent, but I was really disappointed that my $22/glass of champagne was a pretty stingy pour. At that price, I expected better. Unfortunately, the food didn't deliver. It wasn't terrible, but it was pretty forgettable. What really threw us off was that a lot of the dishes leaned strangely sweet, sugar had been added where it didn't belong. None of us liked that flavor profile. Between the odd sweetness and the overall value, we left disappointed. Service and vibe were the highlights, but the food just didn't live up to them. 3 stars feels fair. read more

The food was inspired and delicious, chill ambiance, and impeccable service. Can't wait to return!

I was really excited to try this new incarnation of Artisan Cheese & Wine. The decor inside is lovely mint green beadboard walls which gives it a charming distinct country feel. My cocktail with Prosecco & St. Germain was very good. For my dining companion there were few choices of wine by the glass (mostly sold by the bottle) and the pour was really small for $21 glass of white wine. Sadly the food was a bit underwhelming - or maybe we ordered poorly? The chicken liver paté was really more of a mousse, a bit too airy and soft overly whipped for me and lacking in depth of flavor. Pork skewer was ok but nothing outstanding. Summer salad with stone fruit was 'interesting' but sounded better conceptually than on the plate. This too was served chunky sourdough bread but we already had our fill with the chicken liver mousse. After those three things we decided not to order dessert or anything else. Service was very attentive and personable. Overall I was a bit deflated by the dining experience but we went just a month after its opening so maybe these are teething problems and they will improve as time goes on. They may need to up their game in the fiercely competitive LA restaurant scene. Wishing them best of luck because a unique California-inspired bistro is a welcome addition to Studio City and preferable to the same restaurants expanding across SoCal financed by private equity money. read more

Ehh this restaurant was featured on Noho Nick newsletter and it was featuring Silverlake telescopes to view stars. The event started at 8 we showed up at 9 and they were still setting up so me and my boyfriend walked into the restaurant and waited 15 mins no one came up to us. My bf actually went up to someone and she replied " Oh I was going to go to you guys!" I don't want to pull the race card but ok girl whatever you say. We sat down and everyone is obnoxiously loud could be the wine could be how small the restaurant is. The menu is tiny and overly priced so we just settled for a wine flight and bread and butter as an appetizer. It was an extremely small half loaf with barely any butter on the side. My bf was extremely annoyed because the price was $11 for 4 pieces of bread and a schmear of butter. Our waiter was welcoming and sweet and he was busting his tail off all night. The server serving our wine flight took forever we had to wave him down for the next serving he tried to explain the story of every wine but we couldn't hear him at all so we awkwardly nodded our heads and smiled. The wine flight serving is laughable lol $20 for a splash of wine and you only get 3 different wines. Hmm a flight usually has 4 options but I digress. Our waiter gave us a discount for the wait we didn't even complain he just saw how we were just standing/sitting there looking around. The telescope guys were cool as hell but the event in Silverlake is way better they have music, food vendors, and a vibe. I hope they can do something similar in the valley. We walked down to Prince St pizza got a slice and recognized people from the restaurant lol I think that should tell you something right?! read more

Wonderful food and wine! Great date spot or if you are in the mood to share some plates and sip some wine with friends. Highly recommended

We went to Vignette on Thursday night and it was such a pleasure. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with gorgeous artwork and perfect lighting. The service was excellent, the wine list was very interesting and very fairly priced. We ordered a bottle of French (white burgundy) and it did not disappoint. We ordered a ton of different items from the menu. The bread was superb, and they served it on a huge shmear of yummy salted butter. I don't know where they get that bread, but if they make it themselves, kudos to the Chef! The chicken liver pate was excellent. It had some sort of glaze (pomegranate?) that gave it the most delicious flavor. It was served with a generous helping of their amazing bread toasted with olive oil. The sugar snap pea salad with fresh ricotta cheese was light and fresh. The salad was incredible. I couldn't wait to bring some of it home and eat it for lunch the next day (which I did !). I loved the Japanese sweet potato, it was so simple and elegant and cooked to perfection. And the cabbage and leek terrene was really unique and super delicious. The Branzino was delicious- and served skin side up with a crispy top so that the citrus marinade on the bottom was able to absorb into the fish. Very yummy. The chicken confit was cooked to perfection- The chicken just fell off the bone as we ate it. The owners were super friendly and came by to check on us multiple times. It felt like a home away from home and I'm so happy that It's located around the corner from my house. Overall, an excellent experience, I can't wait to go back! read more

A wonderful new addition to the fine dining scene in the Valley. This Studio City restaurant does everything right with outstanding dishes including whole branzino with citrus butter and charred citrus, confit whole chicken leg with chicken oil, magic spice and served with mixed greens and a superb tuna credo with celery, apple and parsley. The bread and homemade butter is to die for and a VERY generous serving. Desserts were also amazing, including the chocolate and orange tart. More please! Great wait staff too. 5 well deserved stars out of 5! read more

We had a lovely dinner at Vignette this week. We have a special connection to this space so we were excited to finally try Vignette. We ordered the Kamachi crudo which was delicious with a lot of depth. We literally drank the remaining sauce! The market salad was great and the pork was good too. We also had the crab and corn agnolotti which was topped with a good amount of crab, they did not skimp! Ended with the toasted rice ice cream with strawberry preserve which was a 10/10. They need to jar the preserve and sell it, it was that good! The wine was delicious too. Taylor was our server and she was a delight! Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood. Had the best first time at Vignette thanks to our lovely server Taylor! Favs were the Japanese sweet potato & choco mousse.

I had been really excited to see this place open, I've followed their story on insta, I love how it was 3 friends starting something together. I went in here wanting to like it and I wasn't disappointed. We went there on a Saturday night. The vibe was something similar to a restaurant you would see in Echo Park or Los Feliz somewhere hip some kind of like Dunsmore vibe it was packed. It was people sitting outside drinking wine food look great we tried almost everything on the menu. There were some stuff that were amazing. That were a couple things that I'm sure there might be working out the kinks their Crudo dishes were both amazing bread was delicious. The wine list is wonderful. I like how it's a lot of old world wines. The prices are reasonable. The Bronzino was fantastic. The steak wasn't necessarily my favorite, but I think my friend who got a couple different pieces than I did said it was good and the corn pasta had a beautiful sweet sauce altogether very excited for these guys. I hope they keep on succeeding and I look forward to going back again soon. read more

Such an amazing meal at Vignette. You can tell there's so much intention and thought behind every dish. I loved how much they lean into local, seasonal produce and really let the ingredients shine. Everything felt fresh, balanced, and beautifully executed without being overly fussy. The flavors were creative but approachable, and each dish felt purposeful. It's the kind of place where you can tell the team genuinely cares about what they're putting on the plate. I'm still dreaming about the charred cabbage and Japanese sweet potato dishes. As someone with Celiac disease, I also really appreciated how accommodating and knowledgeable the team was. read more

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I was excited to check this place out. I came with some friends tonight and we were wildly disappointed by Vignette across the board. Despite making a reservation, our table wasn't ready for 15+ minutes, and the hostess (who was actually great) suggested we get a drink at the bar while we wait. We stood by the empty bar for at least 5 minutes before someone sauntered over to take our order. He was unfriendly and slow, looking past us as he took our order. Afterward I realized he was one of the owners, which was our first major red flag. We got seated after a few minutes and ordered an assortment of small plates and entrees. We chose most of what we ordered based on what we had seen others eating while we waited. It took 2 hours our entrees to come, and the pacing of the small plates beforehand was slow and random, and each dish that hit our table looked drastically different from what we had seen on others tables. Different portion sizes, different presentations, etc. All of this would have been fine if the food was good, but unfortunately there wasn't a single dish that felt worthy of the price or wait. Clashing flavors, too much sauce, overcooked meat. I really wanted this restaurant to at least have its redeeming moments as the neighborhood really needs more solid options, but there was nothing we experienced tonight that would bring me back. A total miss across the board. read more

I rarely write reviews but I was so floored by this place that I have to share how amazing it is. The food was unbelievably good- my boyfriend and I agreed it was the best steak we've ever had. The bread and butter was incredible, and the chicken was so tender it was falling off the bone and melted in my mouth. The atmosphere is romantic and nice without being pretentious, and the decor has just the right amount of whimsy (obsessed with the bathroom wallpaper). Our server was attentive and fun, we felt like we were all pals by the end of the meal. This is our new go-to date spot in the neighborhood- studio city needed a place like this!! read more
