signage from outside. Pretty unique: fork, knife, and the spoon. Original name for a restaurant.

I have been to Tuning Fork back in 2017 for lunch. A lot has changed since then. Last night my spiritual friend and I decided to go there in the evening around 7pm to listen to some fine jazz/blues music, and have dinner. We shared a Truffled Mushroom Burger, ESW salad, Sangria, and water. The Truffled Mushroom Burger came with Menage aú mushroom, goat cheese, tomato, pickles, imported truffle oil & goddess aioli. The ESW salad came with lots of good, fresh, healthy, vegetables. They are: field greens, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, red onion, corn, grilled asparagus, hothouse cucumber, edamame, crispy tortilla strips, cashews and vinaigrette dressing, I opted for ranch and no cashews. $18.00 for the salad, and there was a price difference by $6.50 in the Truffle burger. They charged me $28.50 for our burger, when on their website it says $22.00. I am not going to dock a star for that, but they need to get the price right. Is it $28.50 or is it $22.00.? Food tasted fresh, healthy, not oily, and not salty. It was pretty good and the portions were fair. Not too big and not too small.Very filling though. Our burger came with shoe strings fries, which was good and they charged an additional$2.00. Sangria was not too strong and had a good kick to it, and it was pretty refreshing. $9.00. Great live music. Bands name was BARRY BIG B. BRENNER. Great musicians and they truly delivered for 2 hours straight. Ambiance was cool, chill, dim lights, interior of the restaurant was wood. Tables/chairs, mirrors on the walls, art work of many different kinds, candles on the tables, a nice bar, cute, small patio outside, clean restroom and last but not least a great service by Vivian and Karla. Vivian had a very good vibe, upbeat energy which what I was looking for.Karla had a sweet smile that was pleasant. It was not crowded at all for a Friday night. So we kind of went with our own pace. They have couple of spots of parking in the back, but I parked on the street. Overall a great experience, a little pricy for my budget. Will return again when I have some $$ in my pocket! Will post photos when I get a minute.

Great place for an appetizer & drink, pre-live music. Love the beachy vibe & staff. Very friendly & accommodating, truffle fries are awesome & sangria was refreshing. Ellie from a prior visit was great as well. It is a small venue & bands play around 7, good music but loud so if that is not your thing, go before & experience a more tranquil venue.

Smokehouse tacos. I wolfed them down too quick! This comes with 3 tacos and they are kind of small but mighty! Must try 10/10

Ambience was unexplainable! The Dee Jay was spinning records I. The dim light of a cozy atmosphere with sensational food and drinks! A fantastic way to wind down after a long week! Don't cheat yourself... treat yourself! Service was great, don't be in a rush because you will want to savor each moment!

Loving the live music at tuning fork! Good food and good vibes.

Came here for the first time and had such a good time. They had a live blues band playing which they do every Sunday. I believe they have live music every night which is pretty cool and definitely amps up the whole experience. They are amazing and truly talented. Lightenin willy is pretty well known and Pete Anderson is a big musical director and manager and plays the guitar in the group. The owner of the restaurant plays the drums which is so cool! They added to the ambiance for sure. I got the truffle burger and truffle fries. The burger was super juicy and they grind all of their own meat which you can tell. Super fresh. The truffles fries were absolutely heaven. I dipped in their homemade ranch/blue cheese dressing. Such a good combo. The server/bartender Josh made some good recommendations with wine. He was super nice and friendly. They have a great selection of beer on tap and different wines by the glass. I was impressed at their wide selection. They make their own potato chips and those were also super yummy. Would definitely recommend for a fun and funky meal with a jam sesh! *a small but big plus they have purse hooks under the bar! Amazing!

Is there live music Friday nights?

I know there's music at least once a week and last time I was there, a Grammy winner was going to play. It was a Tuesday, so I think perhaps days change but they definitely support music. A great burger

Once we arrived the interior had a relaxed, easygoing vibe, modern but cozy, with stylish design touches that made the whole space feel welcoming and unhurried. Even the waiting area with it's low lit seating surrounded by book cases was really cool. My wife, my sister and I had a wonderful table near the fireplace in the center of the dining area. Nearby were draped booths that would be perfect for a more romantic evening. Our server was, Haley...she was incredible. Very personable, helpful and extremely professional. You'll be in good hands if you're lucky enough to get her! Then the food...Wow. My wife and my sister got the filet migons, watching my wife's euphoric reaction of taking her fist bite made my evening! Omg...thankfully, my wife let me try garlic fries that came with the filets, and they were the best I ever had! I got the Langostino Fettuccine...outstanding. You have to dig a little spicy, which I do...but the vodka cream sauce is the real highlight of this dish. For deserts we got the apple cobbler, the creme brulee and sticky toffee cake. All three were fantastic. But I preferred the cobbler and the toffee cake the most. We didn't get the Le Petit Gateau, their chocolate cake...but we decided to get one to go! HA...it's unbelievably rich and pretty tall and big. It's topped with candied wild cheries...it's two days later and we're still eating this yummy treat. All in all...I would recommend this for any occasion...wether you're looking for just a night out with solid service and great food, to a romantic evening. We got there around 6...but later on there was live music with these two gentlemen on guitars that really played perfect atmosphere music. You can't go wrong with a night out at Firefly!

As soon as I walked in, a security guard greeted me right away and kindly asked if I knew where I was going, if I was waiting for someone, or if I needed any assistance. It was a nice welcoming touch. While walking toward my friend, I noticed a beautiful and cozy lounge area with plush couches and a massive library setup. It looked absolutely stunning -- I didn't snap a photo, but I definitely will next time. I can already picture myself there with a glass of wine and a good book, no electronics, just pure relaxation. The wine selection is excellent. The menu is small but everything is full of flavor -- the tastes truly burst in your mouth. My waiter was professional, attentive, and very kind. He offered me several samples until I found the perfect one. The ambiance is wonderful. You're seated inside, but it somehow feels like you're outside. The music is relaxing and soothing, creating the perfect vibe. I highly recommend this spot for a romantic date night or if you just want to escape and enjoy some peaceful time to yourself. I'll definitely be back!

I remembered seeing Wood & Water across the street from the Le Petit French restaurant we'd eaten at several years ago, and again while driving on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. So, I made the reservation via the Resy dining app and effortlessly secured an early dinner. Although valet service was available, we were lucky to snag an open street parking stall. Upon entering the warm, fire-lit restaurant, the jovial host greeted us and checked us in. He led us into a relatively empty dining room past the beautiful full bar. Within minutes after being seated, it seemed like the host led in a "busload" of fellow Christmas Eve revelers. Our friendly server, Michael, welcomed us, asked if we had any questions about the menus or food allergies, and then took our beverage order. After ordering cocktails and appetizers, we discussed our potential menu selections, perused their wine list, and ordered a bottle of Sangiovese. Michael was excellent about coursing our menu selections. FOOD: -Yellowtail & Watermelon Sashimi: Chili oil, Serrano, ponzu, yuzu onion. It seems that creative preparations of yellowtail or amberjack tuna sashimi are trending in LA restaurants. Wood & Water's combination of buttery yellowtail slices, tender sweet watermelon, spicy Serrano pepper slices, with a drizzle of yuzu onion sauce caught our palates. I especially appreciated the textural aspects and freshness of this appetizer. $22 -Truffle Kennebec Fries: Black summer truffles and pecorino shavings garnished the freshly made, hot, and crisp fries. The massive bowl of shoestring fries caught my husband's and his brothers' attention as we sipped our cocktails. They agreed that W&W's shoestring fries were perfectly fried and seasoned. $19 -Roasted Duck Breast: Michael confirmed the duck breast's medium-rare doneness would be okay, or if I wanted the duck breast to lean more towards rare or more fully cooked. Honestly, I'm pleased with medium-rare doneness, and that's exactly what I received. The deliciously roasted duck breast was plated atop a generous serving of wild mushroom risotto and enhanced with in-house brandied cherries. I was drawn to this dish because I like the pairing of roast duck with a fruit sauce. Although I was drawn to pistachio-crusted lamb chops, I planned to have lamb for dinner the following day. The duck breast had evenly browned, crispy skin, and its meat was tender and succulent. The in-house brandied cherries added a deep fruit flavor, which was enhanced by the warm brandy, along with subtle notes of vanilla and spices. $48 -Pork Chop: Asian Marinade, whole grain Dijon mustard mashed potatoes, quick pickled purple cabbage, and chimichurri. My husband and brother-in-law ordered this dish and were surprised by the thick 1-1/2" pork chop. They didn't think the combination of an Asian marinade would complement the other garnishes (quick-pickled purple cabbage and chimichurri). Still, apparently, after wolfing down the soft, tender, and succulent pork chop, they were proud to admit their "clean plate club membership." $44 -Pistachio-Crusted Lamb Chops: Six tender pistachio-crusted lamb chops were plated atop whipped eggplant with roasted/charred heirloom carrots. My eldest brother-in-law ordered this dish and let me sample a piece of the lamb chop. The pistachio-crusted lamb tasted luxurious and nutty, with flavor-enhancing herbs that created a pleasant savoriness. The roasted/charred heirloom carrots brought along their natural sweetness and a touch of herbaceousness from their seasonings. $62 -Peanut Butter Chocolate Turnover: Although we were all content with our meals and drinks, we were tempted to satiate our "sweet tooth." The peanut butter chocolate turnover appealed to our foursome, who wanted to share. The dessert was served warm, with the turnover's crust light and flaky, and a hot, ooey-gooey peanut butter and melted chocolate interior. The premium vanilla ice cream added an icy, creamy contrast and neutralized or mellowed the flavors of peanut butter and chocolate. $16 We're not residents, but after this dinner, my brothers-in-law and I left wondering why we hadn't tried this restaurant sooner. We'd happily return to try more of their signature cocktails and entrees for flavors, textures, presentation, and value. The service was excellent despite the huge Christmas Eve rush and crowd.

It's super close to me, parking wasn't too difficult, and the space delivered immediately -- dim red lighting, cozy and moody, perfect for a night out solo. They had a Passover specials menu that looked amazing. I was tempted by the open-faced Hillel sandwich with matzo, wasabi butter, apple, wine reduction, and pine nuts. The smoked brisket with Coca-Cola curry also looked great when it came out for the couple next to me -- until I overheard them say the meat was tough and they sent it back. That helped me decide. I started with the freezer martini, ordered with both a twist and an olive. Clean, cold, and exactly what I wanted. I almost ordered a second. For my first dish I ordered the saag burrata -- Indian-spiced creamed spinach with burrata and grilled baguette. Fantastic. The burrata was cool and creamy, the spiced spinach underneath was warm and deeply flavorful. My only note was the bread -- three very thin slices felt skimpy for the amount of dip. A couple more would've balanced it perfectly. For my main I ordered the OG burger, mostly because I'm a horseradish lover and was excited about the horseradish crème fraîche. About two bites in I noticed it was extremely rare -- and I'm someone who appreciates medium rare, but this was beyond that. I let the server know, he handled it graciously, apologized, and had it remade quickly. I appreciated that. He also ended up comping it, which I genuinely wasn't expecting and went a long way. At that point I was finishing my martini and ready to head home, so I took the burger to go. The next day I reheated it -- bun on, everything still on it, minute and twenty seconds in direct heat. The outside was noticeably darker and crispier than the first one, clearly cooked harder this time. The flavors were there. I added a little hot sauce and it was working -- until I got to the middle. Still raw. Chewy in a way that wasn't medium rare, wasn't even close. As a chef I know what a burger should feel like after that much heat. The fact that it reheated to piping hot on the outside and was still raw in the center tells me the issue was in how it was formed or how thick it was packed -- and I have the pictures to prove it. I'll be honest -- it didn't stop me from wanting to go back. It just means I'm never ordering the burger again, which genuinely makes me sad because the flavor profile was there. The horseradish could've been punchier and the pickled onion more present, but the bones of the dish were good. It just couldn't execute consistently, twice. What I know is that OyBar has something. The creativity is real, the vibe is real, the saag burrata alone is worth the trip. I wish I tried out the the Oy burger with hoisin ketchup and Dijon -- that sounds more like what I was looking for. And I already told a friend we need to come back to share a few dishes because the menu feels like it's built for that. Highlights: Freezer martini, saag burrata, moody atmosphere, creative progressive menu, server handled a tough situation with genuine grace Could improve: Burger temperature consistency (twice is a pattern, not a mistake), bread portion with the burrata, stronger horseradish presence

I was dining with a friend and we were enjoying our time, had just ordered a glass of wine, and were about to order more food. Out of nowhere, someone who appeared to be either the host or manager approached us and, in a very condescending and unapologetic tone, told us we needed to leave by 7 PM because the table was reserved. There was no prior mention of any time limit--nothing on the website, and we had made a reservation ourselves. What made it worse was the delivery: no attempt to accommodate us, no flexibility, and no courtesy. It felt abrupt and frankly rude, especially considering we were still actively ordering. It's disappointing because the kitchen clearly delivers, but the lack of basic hospitality and respect for guests makes it hard to want to return. Great food can only go so far when the service leaves you feeling unwelcome.
