signage from outside. Pretty unique: fork, knife, and the spoon. Original name for a restaurant.

I have been to Tuning Fork back in 2017 for lunch. A lot has changed since then. Last night my spiritual friend and I decided to go there in the evening around 7pm to listen to some fine jazz/blues music, and have dinner. We shared a Truffled Mushroom Burger, ESW salad, Sangria, and water. The Truffled Mushroom Burger came with Menage aú mushroom, goat cheese, tomato, pickles, imported truffle oil & goddess aioli. The ESW salad came with lots of good, fresh, healthy, vegetables. They are: field greens, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, red onion, corn, grilled asparagus, hothouse cucumber, edamame, crispy tortilla strips, cashews and vinaigrette dressing, I opted for ranch and no cashews. $18.00 for the salad, and there was a price difference by $6.50 in the Truffle burger. They charged me $28.50 for our burger, when on their website it says $22.00. I am not going to dock a star for that, but they need to get the price right. Is it $28.50 or is it $22.00.? Food tasted fresh, healthy, not oily, and not salty. It was pretty good and the portions were fair. Not too big and not too small.Very filling though. Our burger came with shoe strings fries, which was good and they charged an additional$2.00. Sangria was not too strong and had a good kick to it, and it was pretty refreshing. $9.00. Great live music. Bands name was BARRY BIG B. BRENNER. Great musicians and they truly delivered for 2 hours straight. Ambiance was cool, chill, dim lights, interior of the restaurant was wood. Tables/chairs, mirrors on the walls, art work of many different kinds, candles on the tables, a nice bar, cute, small patio outside, clean restroom and last but not least a great service by Vivian and Karla. Vivian had a very good vibe, upbeat energy which what I was looking for.Karla had a sweet smile that was pleasant. It was not crowded at all for a Friday night. So we kind of went with our own pace. They have couple of spots of parking in the back, but I parked on the street. Overall a great experience, a little pricy for my budget. Will return again when I have some $$ in my pocket! Will post photos when I get a minute.

As a local, this is the 1st time I ordered pizza and was impressed enough to review. Don't sleep on it! Pizza has an ephemeral quality I can't put my finger on, but exactly what you crave. I think it's the sauce? Complex and elevates everything. Crispy char on pepperoni hits sweet spot many places don't nail. Crust is suitably thin/chewy, but more neutral delivery than elevating. Not enough to downgrade, but can be touched up. We don't have a lot of pizza options in this area, so this is in the top 2 along with Joe's.

Great place for an appetizer & drink, pre-live music. Love the beachy vibe & staff. Very friendly & accommodating, truffle fries are awesome & sangria was refreshing. Ellie from a prior visit was great as well. It is a small venue & bands play around 7, good music but loud so if that is not your thing, go before & experience a more tranquil venue.

Smokehouse tacos. I wolfed them down too quick! This comes with 3 tacos and they are kind of small but mighty! Must try 10/10

Ambience was unexplainable! The Dee Jay was spinning records I. The dim light of a cozy atmosphere with sensational food and drinks! A fantastic way to wind down after a long week! Don't cheat yourself... treat yourself! Service was great, don't be in a rush because you will want to savor each moment!

Loving the live music at tuning fork! Good food and good vibes.

Came here for the first time and had such a good time. They had a live blues band playing which they do every Sunday. I believe they have live music every night which is pretty cool and definitely amps up the whole experience. They are amazing and truly talented. Lightenin willy is pretty well known and Pete Anderson is a big musical director and manager and plays the guitar in the group. The owner of the restaurant plays the drums which is so cool! They added to the ambiance for sure. I got the truffle burger and truffle fries. The burger was super juicy and they grind all of their own meat which you can tell. Super fresh. The truffles fries were absolutely heaven. I dipped in their homemade ranch/blue cheese dressing. Such a good combo. The server/bartender Josh made some good recommendations with wine. He was super nice and friendly. They have a great selection of beer on tap and different wines by the glass. I was impressed at their wide selection. They make their own potato chips and those were also super yummy. Would definitely recommend for a fun and funky meal with a jam sesh! *a small but big plus they have purse hooks under the bar! Amazing!

Is there live music Friday nights?

I know there's music at least once a week and last time I was there, a Grammy winner was going to play. It was a Tuesday, so I think perhaps days change but they definitely support music. A great burger

Of course, Studio City has a village full of good restaurant choices, but since I was already a fan of their other location on the Westside, The Six on Pico Blvd., I decided to give this one a try. So Saturday brunch it was! We arrived earlier to avoid crowds at 10:45, and we had the place all to ourselves until 11:15. Reservations were made via Yelp, but we obviously didn't need them. I was a bit surprised, but small groups eventually trickled in slowly. ** THE CHOW ** My brunch date ordered a California omelet, made with brie, red bell, caramelized onions, and topped with half an avocado. The breakfast potatoes on the side were very yummy and the omelet was tasty too. Did I mention I'm a glutton for brunch? Well, I decided to eat one like one. And the Knife & Fork Chicken + Waffles was just right for my appetite. It satisfied the fried chicken cravings I had racked up over an entire week. I liked that the chicken was boneless, skinless, buttermilk-battered, and crispy. The fancy "red devil gravy" is basically a watery Tapatio for dunking or (if you're like me) for drowning your chicken in heat. Don't worry, they've got Cholula as well. Also, I love the effort in naming this menu item. However, I was a bit disappointed to find out that the jalapeño rosemary syrup on the online menu was only regular maple syrup IRL. Overall, the waffles are quite dense so it adds a good balance of hot 'n' sweet. ** THE SERVICE ** Servers at The Six were attentive. Food was delivered quickly. There were frequent check-ins with various staff members at each of the tables. The wait staff worked well together, covering each other's duties -- that was nice to see. ** THE VIBE ** There are lots of Instagram-worthy backdrops and charming little signs strewn around the restaurant. The decor and vibe give a nod to the "Society of Six" artists from the 1920s Prohibition era, who lived together in a cabin in Northern California that they dubbed the "Chow House", where they inspired each other in creating art. The reclaimed wood planks and cast iron skillets are used as plates on several menu items as a subtle accent and cozy, cabin vibe. I imagine twinkle lights add to the effect during the evening time. Next time I want to shovel brunch into my pie hole like a bottomless mimosa glass, I'll come back for the Apple Pie French Toast. That's with a side of bacon (not the bacon inside the French toast as the menu writeup may suggest). I hear that the cinnamon apple pie filling is amazing. I guess I'll have to come back for seconds and pair it with a bottomless Mimosa for $25 (avail Saturdays & Sundays, 10am - 3pm).

The best meal I've had in LA!…read more From start to finish, the service, atmosphere and food were all exquisite. The Valet is friendly & efficient. The rather hidden front door (the restaurant has no signage--so it's a secret--known by those in-the-know (and now you). The bar is dark and charming--feels like an English country home. That leads into a beautifully lit library bar lounge. The indoor/outdoor dining room is gorgeous: evoking a classic European courtyard. The open-air courtyard is surrounded by arched seating areas, each with curtains you can close for privacy. We arrived at 7:30 with the sunset's warm light entering through the open ceiling. As the sky got darker, the room took on a glow from the string lights, candles in niches, and central fireplace. The waiter was charming and friendly, and brought complimentary aperitifs of Luca Bosio Brachetto Rosso Semi Sweet wine. My friends who drink wine loved it and are ordering bottles for home. I don't like wine myself--but I still loved this because it was like a most delicious sweet lightly fizzy grape juice. We shared a cheese board which had a variety of fine cheeses and sweet grapes, honeycomb, dates, dried apricots and almonds. My friends shared the Mushroom Pappardelle--a rich, creamy mushroom sauce on wide delicate noodles. Excellent. I ordered the Steak Frites, 8 oz filet mignon, green beans, creamy peppercorn sauce, and garlic fries. *This was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten* --and my friends agreed. So tender I hardly needed a knife. And the sauce was savory perfection. Even the fries were delicate, crispy outside. The portions are large--I took about 1/3 of my steak and frites home, and my friends took enough pasta home for another meal. Since it was a special occasion, we ordered the Le Petit Gateau, a dark, rich, moist chocolate cake with golden candied wild cherries. So chocolatey, not too sweet--the hint of cherries made it very special. We each had at least one piece (OK, I had two) and there was still half a cake to take home! Firefly is truly special. But not just for special occasions--because once you've discovered it you'll want to eat there again soon.

Firefly relies heavily on presentation. The entry, tucked away behind shrubbery with a hidden door…read morefeel, sets a clear expectation before you even sit down. It works. There's a deliberate sense of discovery to it that gives the place character. The main issue is access. Parking is limited and inconvenient. It feels designed more for rideshare drop-off or a bar-centric crowd than for people arriving on their own to sit down for dinner. If you're coming with friends for a relaxed meal, you should assume you'll either be circling for a spot or paying for valet. The food and drinks are fine, but not the reason to come. Prices sit noticeably above what the execution justifies, especially when compared to similar spots in the area. It's not bad, just not aligned with value. What Firefly does well is atmosphere. The lighting, layout, and hidden-garden concept create a mood that carries most of the experience. You don't come here chasing culinary excellence. You come because the space feels different from everything around it. It delivers on that promise. Just not much beyond it.

Rather than erase what came before it, the team seems to have understood the character of the room and built upon it. The bones are still there, but the atmosphere feels entirely its own. It's a reminder that great hospitality isn't always about reinventing a space. Sometimes it's about recognizing what already works and having the good sense to let it shine. The experience itself was remarkably seamless. Drinks arrived quickly, food followed with impressive timing, and every interaction felt genuine and unforced. There is an ease to the operation that can only come from a team that is both confident and deeply invested in what they do. The room carries a warmth that is increasingly rare. Good lighting, good energy, good music, and a staff that understands hospitality is as much about making people feel comfortable as it is about serving food and drinks. Nothing feels rushed, yet everything moves with purpose. Los Angeles has no shortage of places competing for attention. Oy Bar doesn't need to. It has something far more difficult to create: a sense of place. The brick barrel vaulted ceiling that runs the length of the restaurant really adds to the ambiance of this place. Out of the seven dishes, only two were not as flavorful as expected. They were good by any other restaurant's standards, but just not great like the others. The other five dishes more than made up for this small blip. Can't wait to go again. Must tries: Quail Deviled Eggs with Ahi Tuna and Dill are amazing!! Hamachi with sprouted broccoli, tempura, ponzu, shiso aioli, Black Sesame Seeds Charred Brussels Sprouts with almonds, grapes, and Pecorino Romano. Lamb chops with Aji Amarillo, rosemary, and yogurt. These were the most tender lamb chops I have ever had. And that often overly-lamb flavor was not there. And do not pass up on the Charred Skirt Steak with yuca, chile de árbol, and aji mojo.
