The only not so great dish was the bolognese: to me the aftertaste of the pork ragu was very strong and gamey so I wasn't super into that. I came here with my husband, his cousins, and niece on a Saturday evening. We arrived before their dinner service, which meant we were limited to their bar menu. We decided to order small bites and wait until 5:30 because we planned to have dinner there. Deviled Eggs and Adobo Fries are a must! His cousins also ordered Zoe's Sweet and Spicy Pepperoni Pizza - they seemed to enjoy it. I also ordered a Juanito Mojito mocktail. It was refreshing especially for a hot and humid day. During dinner, I got their Mary's Half Chicken. I could not put my fork down! The chicken was moist and the skin was in between soft and crisp. The purple potatoes were soft and slightly sweet. The avocado cream was where most of the flavor came from. I smothered the chicken and potatoes in that with every bite. Our server was so nice! He was attentive and patient. He also gave us great recommendations! I got the vibe that he loved working there because he got along with everyone. The restaurant is beautiful especially at night. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio lights add a nice and warm ambiance. I would definitely come back here for dinner. There is paid parking specifically for the restaurant. We were meeting friends and saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. On this day, it was rainy so no sitting outside in the front yard, lol. We had the large table inside the decorated restaurant which is themed kinda from the 70s. As for the food, we all enjoyed our meals. The tomahawk was just delicious and soo smooth. The Brussels sprouts were good but could have use a little more sauce. The Mac & cheese was rich and yummy. As for my hamachi tostado, they gave me a dried out lime. I wanted to ask for another one, however, our server was no were to be found. He was around but did not give our table much thought. I think it's because gratutide is automatically added. The service wasn't great so I took it down a star. A friend got the gem salad with chicken added. For the price, I would definitely pass. Wow. I also didn't realize this was inside a hotel. Such a vibrant and cozy restaurant! Located right next to a hotel, The Front Yard is definitely the place to be on Saturday. The restaurant gets pretty busy so definitely make reservations especially if you have a big party. My boyfriend and I had made our way there to celebrate his birthday and we ordered a few dishes to try: 1. Deviled Eggs with Candied Bacon: your typical deviled eggs, the flavor was more tart than creamy. I wish they had put more bacon to add a bit more salt to the dish. 2. Duck Fat Chicken Liver Toast: a very rich dish, the frisée salad helped to cut the fattiness in the taste. I woukd have loved to have more fruit to help cut the sharp taste. Overall the dish was enjoyable and worked well on the thick, toasted brioche bread. 3. Prime Flat Iron: the flat iron was cooked to perfection and was tender. Definitely a simple but tasty dish. 4. Short Rib on the Bone: honestly this dish was the star of the night! The short rib was tender, fall off the bone and so flavorful! The tomato tortilla espagnole added a nice acidity that helped the corn bisque pop out! We basically licked the bowl clean, it was so good. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience filled with good food and wonderful service! The menu seems to change with the seasons so we will definitely be back to try their new dishes. As a note, the restaurant offers both self parking and valet parking. To access either, you will need to go through the gate and keep your ticket. I started coming to the front yard shortly after the pandemic was over and since then, I have been a fan. They do validate parking when you dine in. There is a large parking lot and now they have electric car charging stations. They are participating in the DineLA week and so I decided to come back and visit during lunch time. I was seated and my server was very attentive. My drink and food items came out in a timely manner. My all time favorite cocktail here is the "Cucumber Press" so I decided to start off with that. 5/5 For lunch: I went with the burger plate "Royal with Cheese" it was served with adobo fries. 5/5 The appetizer I picked prior to my meal was: green garbanzo hummus served with warm pita bread. The color of the hummus was really nice and presentation was beautiful. 5/5 Dessert: I picked the ice cream sandwich and I was surprised by the presentation: it was two large chocolate cookies and sandwich in the middle was the mint chocolate chip ice cream. 5/5 Overall, I had a great lunch date here and my food was plentiful. Zoe's sweet and spicy flatbread- this was pretty good. Great balance and flavors. I really enjoyed the sweet and salty and spicy notes. It was very good. 2. Cheese and charcuterie board- very limited amounts of meats. It was ok. Only 4 peices of very hard/crunchy bread. But they have the mustard, figs, honey, 3 cheeses and 2 types of meats. A good finger food type dish. 3. Grilled octopus- 2 large-ish tentacles. Its in a squid ink sauce. Cooked well. But it was a little too ocean tasting, not in a good way. Too fishy. 4. Deviled eggs- they really skimped on the candied bacon bits. Drink wise we had: 1. Strawberry fields- sweet and refreshing. Its really good and light. 2. Maple in the rye- a very whiskey forward drinks. Not much maple or fig. But it is really smooth. 3. Banana fashioned- it said rum. But it was not sweet at all. Tasted like bourbon. This was our second time coming to this location, & it was even better than the first! My boyfriend & I came with friends & family to celebrate his birthday, & we were able to get a last minute reservation that worked out perfectly. The service was amazing...our servers were quick, kind, & very attentive. We sat outside with perfect weather, which made the experience even better. The Front Yard is the main restaurant in the Garland, and is famous for brunch, lunch, and dinner in a spacious restaurant with classic Hollywood and Polynesian vibes. Its also the main breakfast option for guests. Expect a 5-10 wait for breakfast. The adult and child buffet are actually very reasonable compared to the typical Hyatt or Marriott buffets. They tend to have the same stuff: scrambled eggs with cheese, spinach, and tomatoes, bacon, a thick chicken sausage, and roasted potatoes for the hot stuff. They have oatmeal, cereals, Chobani Yogurt, and assorted baked goods. My son's favorite of course are bananas, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Although the food doesn't change, its consistently good. 4 stars overall. For ala carte items, we tried Nutella-stuffed french toast, Avocado Toast, and an egg white scramble which turned out to be my wife's favorite. Super rich with healthy proteins and fats. For our three trips, we got the best service from Miko. The other two times the servers were less attentive and the kitchen got super backed up and we wound up taking some breakfast to go as lunch for a departing flight. read more

An amazing drinking and eating outpost deep in the valley. I will be honest, SFV is not my jam but I work there and socialize on that side of the hill. It is chic, without trying too hard. The food and drinks are delicious. The happy hour had some good deals. Crowd is hipper than I expected but a real mix of tourists - it is located in a hotel- studio workers blue and white collar, some wine moms, and a few ever so slightly smarmy ex studio execs. All of our family were quite pleased to have this restaurant right on the hotel premises. The decor is very welcoming with tropical groovy vibes. I recall that most of staff were extremely friendly. The spot can get busy as one morning. We were turned away without a reservation over the next morning we were able to just cruise in. As a vegetarian, there's not a whole lot to order, but I was able to find a few things. The kids absolutely loved their stuffed French toast. Prices are on par for a hotel. We attended a friend's birthday party which I didn't even know that they had a private patio towards the back. I always thought that the main front patio was the only one available. We were walked over by the hostess to the room. Right when you walk in, there's a bar to the right. To the left are some hi top tables with tufted back seat and high chairs. A cool modern lounge vibe. And right straight ahead were tables set up for the party as well as more seating along the wall with pillows. The whole party vibe was beautifully crafted. I believe it was open bar and for the meal, it was buffet. A gathering of amazing friends all there to celebrate someone special. The whole team at the restaurant whom I believe was in charge of the arrangement did an excellent job. Not only was it a party, they also had a dj which started off the party with karaoke. For the meal, the tables all had pitchers of mimosas to start. There were also other drinks at the bar set up as well as wine if needed. As it was a buffet, the food was arranged towards one side of the patio. Food consisted of house potatoes, bacon, sausages, brioche French toast, short rib eggs Benedict, two types of salad (Caesar and arugula), a fruit platter as well as build your own bagel and lox station with all the trimmings. Excellent choices for meal service and there was plenty of it. Everything was quite delicious. Only downfall, there wasn't a toaster for the bagels for the lox. Give or take some people prefer their bagels toasted while others didn't. The whole package was amazing and well executed. The hostess threw an amazing brunch gathering. The restaurant itself has great dishes and now that we've experience a brunch, it was great. Service was amazing with all the staff that took care of us was outstanding and very sweet. I visited this restaurant with a friend yesterday, and we had a reservation through OpenTable. When we arrived, we asked if we could sit outdoors. The host informed us that our reservation did not specify outdoor seating and said we would need to wait about 1.5 hours at the bar because no outdoor tables were available. While waiting, we checked OpenTable and noticed that outdoor reservations were still available, so we updated our reservation and selected outdoor seating for that same time. We let the host know that we had changed our reservation, but despite having a confirmed outdoor reservation, he still insisted that we continue waiting, even though several outdoor tables appeared to be open and available. The food and drinks were excellent, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered. Unfortunately, the experience with the host left a disappointing first impression. We felt that the interaction could have been handled in a much more welcoming and accommodating manner. To make matters even more confusing, the outdoor tables we had hoped to sit at remained empty for the rest of the evening and were never occupied. Overall, the quality of the food and drinks was outstanding, but I hope the restaurant places more emphasis on customer service and hospitality. I ate at this restaurant twice while staying at The Garland Hotel. Once was for Happy Hour dessert and a drink with my daughter. I enjoyed my brownie and ice cream. It was delectable. The brownie tasted gourmet. My beer was fresh because it is made in California, nearby. I also ate at The Front Yard on the last day of my trip. I went to breakfast with a nice lady who was on the same group trip as us. My coffee was fair. It was sort of bland. For some.reason, I enjoy a good toast and butter. It is so basic but it just gives me a good start to the day. This butter was excellent and the toast had good flavor. My eggs were pretty good. They came out hot. The bacon was crispy enough for me. Our server was pleasant but it was hard to track her down when I wanted a refill. This is a restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere. This restaurant is on site for the Garland Hotel. They have a beautiful outside area. Inside is nice too. I had some credit to use at the hotel so Mom and I decided to get some dessert. I ordered the ice cream sandwich, which was ok. I did not know in advance the cookies were dark chocolate. The ice cream was pretty good. Her brownie with ice cream was excellent. If we had more time, I woukd have ordered that another day. The bartender was upbeat and pleasant. Do you remember beautiful, talented Beverly Garland? The minute I realized this restaurant and hotel were her brainchildren, I recalled an image of her in sci-fi movies of the '50s and on My Three Sons (dating myself!). This amazing complex proves she had brains and practical savvy too. Her son owns it now and he has kept its glory. She would be so pleased. When I first moved from NYC to LA, people told me they never went "up over the hill". Come to think of it, what does that even mean? I guess, not over the mountains to "The Valley"? How wrong they were. The Front Yard is a treasure in what is politely called NoHo or Studio City. I didn't expect to be as bowled over as I was. The place is gorgeous, the food is spectacular, and the '70s vibe (my best decade) is intact and authenic. Warm welcoming beauty, cozy vibe, with plenty of free parking (validated). It is now in my top five places in all of Los Angeles. And a stone's throw from the 170 freeway. Take a look at my photos. I love love love that interior! First we sat at the Tangerine bar, then were seated on the patio. Next time I want to be inside near those glowing orange-yellow windows. There is even an outdoor fireplace and entryway torches, how cool is that? We got there a bit early on what I was sure would be a quiet time and day. Nope! It was teeming with celebrating people. No one minded waiting, you just find a place to perch in this spacious venue and absorb the festive vibes. The brunch menu had everything I as a lifelong vegetarian could ask for and I was so enthralled that I even, as a teetotaler, ordered a Mezcal Negroni, prepared perfectly by the affable Adriaan, our bar tender. After that it was just smooth as glass, with our server James attending to our every need. Not one, but two managers came to our table to ask how we were doing and we just burbled over with effusive praise. It was a delightful surprise. There are some glimpses of Beverly the blonde beauty's amazing hotel here too complete with a free tram that takes guests to the various attractions of the area for free (Universal City, City Walk, etc.) If you are from anywhere outside of LA, you will want to revel in the past glory of Hollywood and there is no place better to slip back in time than pristine and immaculate Garland and Front Yard, even on a cloudy day! I've been here several times and it's a cool little restaurant that's connected to the Garland hotel. The restaurant shares its parking with the hotel or you can valet in the front. The restaurant does validate your ticket for the parking so no worries there. The place is very nice with a spacious outside patio, a bar area and the main dinning area where we sat. It's perfect during a nice sunny day to sit out on the patio, relax, enjoy the nice sunny cali vibes with a drink or two. Our waitress was very nice and brought us water immediately and gave us time to look at the menus. Once we were ready we went with the Thai Salmon salad and the TCY patty melt. The Thai salad was pretty good and my coworker enjoyed her patty melt. This place was a surprise! I visit in this neighborhood often and thought I'd discovered all the hidden gems. I had not. The old-school decor belies the excellent cuisine here. The food is excellent. I had the pastrami sandwich and what was so excellent? The pastrami was, of course seasoned perfectly, like NY Pastrami. Then it had a spicy cole slaw and the cole slaw didn't drip of mayonnaise. It maintained its integrity in the absolutely delicious marble rye. Ok I hadn't had marble rye in a few years and it could have been that but this marble rye was so tasty I felt I had gone to bakery heaven. My friend had the steak salad and she's been disappointed that it's only offered on the lunch menu Monday through Friday. Steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked with delicious salad. I did have the deviled eggs and they were ok. Nothing to write home about but the rest of the meal made up for it. The wait staff was stellar. Go here if you're in the neighborhood. I went to The Front Yard on a Saturday for dinner and did not have the best experience. While the food was good, there was confusion with the hosts and the wait staff that I think should have been handled better. My date and I arrived at 10:35pm with 10:45pm reservations and we were told dinner stopped at 10:30pm but we could be seated for happy hour which starts at 10:45pm. My date told the host he made reservations for dinner and wasn't informed dinner stopped at 10:30pm. I didn't know restaurants take reservations for happy hour. She apologized and we were seated for happy hour and she hands us the menu. The happy hour menu actually had great options and when the waiter comes to our table and we start to order he says happy hour doesn't start until 11:00pm. We tell him the hosts said it started at 10:45pm and he abruptly walks away from the table visibly annoyed. When he comes back we order food and drinks and he says they don't have the sliders and the hosts gave us the wrong happy hour menu. HUH?! Again he walks away and comes back with a "weekend happy hour" menu where the prices are higher. The whole experience was strange and unpleasant. The only reason I didn't ask to speak to a manager is because I didn't want our evening to be ruined. read more

Despite having immediate, wide-open availability on their app right now (with consecutive openings every 15 minutes all afternoon, as seen in images) , the staff refused to accommodate us or even attempt to piece tables together. Turning away a large group on their birthday when your establishment is practically empty is just terrible customer service and a massive management failure. the hostesses sighed and rolled her eyes before telling use they had no availability for today. This is one of local gem dining in the area. Always crowded. We walked in around 5:30pm right when dinner time on a Sunday. They have some reservations already. They do wait for people to arrive and placed them before start assigning tables for walk in wait list. Nice gesture but lots of empty tables. We got seated to our table about 30min. Otherwise they said the next one will be around 7pm+. Next when the plate came out. It did takes awhile, about 30-40min for our order. Kinda long even though the dining area still has plenty of empty tables. Maybe we were on the bad days. AC was warm on our side even the tech came to check out while patio has wind breeze and the other side has cold AC. Now, the food, it's not too bad but nothing special. Fried chicken tasted good. Mac & Cheese are using shell pasta. instead of macaroni pasta. For the price, we could find better food. Parking is gated or Valet. About $8/hour on the gated side. I went to the front yard today for happy hour and it was relatively slow, but it took a while to get seated nonetheless we ordered our food and that did take a little bit of time too, but we gave them grace. We got the mac & cheese from the happy hour, which could use a little bit more seasoning, or additional cheeses we also got the short rib burger, which was very flavorful and tasty with a side salad. That was good. It had a great dressing to it. I believe that for ambience purposes, it is wonderful. read more

Cute, cozy restaurant. Nice decor. Indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good. Food was ok. I preferred the appetizers over the main dishes. Onion soup was good and those cheese biscuits were delish!! But I think I'd just go for drinks and apps next time. read more

The Good: the set up is quite pleasant , especially for a brunch or a warm California evening. The Bad: Food is average, which is not a terrible thing nowadays, however.. dishes do not match the description. What is listed is not exactly what you'll be served. Crumpets became english muffins, and instead of Nutella there was pretty off-putting Wallmart knock off version of the hazelnut spread. And , for the love of food gods, please , please, please , I'd like less " soup" in my short rib breakfast. the Ugly: Snooty hostess with condescending tone and speech pattern, who had mistaken her attitude for altitude. This review of 5 stars goes out to our server Bridgette,and the rest of the crew here that provided excellent service, and great tasting food. We found plenty of paid parking in lot to hotel. Parking was validated by restaurant when paying the bill. Service was fast and pleasant. There is lots of seating inside perfect for drinks with friends or loved ones with sexxxy mood lighting and decor is beautiful mid century style. This is like a lil hidden gem that we did not know about but now that I do, we most def will be back. I suggest you give this place a try and hope you enjoy. read more
