- Broken Compass Tiki My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank. read more

Such a fun place! Great for a fun pirate themed night. Perfect for large party hang outs or small groups. Themed drinks and very detailed aesthetic. This place really made you feel like Captain Jack Sparrow was going to jump out at every corner. It so themed for a tiki bar, but if pirates and mermaids had a place to hang out this would be that place. From the decor to the detailed bathroom sounds and the menu item names. You couldn't escape the theme anyway and I loved it! We were gathering for a friends birthday and there was 30 of us. Couldn't believe we found enough seats for us in the back area but we did. The staff was there to keep drinks flowing and keep food coming. The portion for their poke nachos was unreal. Do i wish they put a bit more poke on the dish? Yes. But it was still one of my favorite dishes of the night. The drinks were all so cute and they had ample non alcoholic mocktails as well which were yummy. If you want a speakeasy feel (you lieterally go through a secret door in the wall) and an under the sea eperience while ctching up with friends, you can totally do it here. For my friends birthday they rang some bell and all sang happy birthday to her which was so cool. Why was the bathroom the coolest part? They literally have ocean sounds and seaguls for you to hear while using the restroom. Theres even a fan in the bathroom to make you feel like you're next to the ocean because I kept fighting that darn toilet seat cover to stay put. Such a fun night and will be back for the vibes. I am an avid tiki bar fan. Some may say aficionado. Some may say. I went to Broken Compass hoping for as stellar a time as I'd had in many a tiki bar past. At first sight, the place is decorated like a shipwreck-turned-tropical-turnto. Very nice. That's about as high a praise as I'll go. The drinks were average as Southern California tiki goes. The grog was not made with a grog mix. The rum barrel was tasty enough - though served in a hurricane glass. I'm no snob, but tiki is attention to detail. What I care about most is what I didn't get: great service. Staff are friendly.. when they notice you. Hey, I'm a regular at a different tiki bar. Priority service is a tangential bonus. This place is SO cool!!! It was my first time here and when you get inside, you're in a small room that just has a hostess stand and some seats to wait. Once the hostess sits you, she opens a secret door that doesn't even look like a door and you're transported into a pirate themed restaurant! The vibes were amazing and the customer service was great! When I went it was a 15 min wait for a table so I ended up just going to the bar and got served right away. The drinks and food were really delicious and I want to try everything on the menu! I got the fish & chips and I am blown away by how many dipping sauces you can get! I visited this location for a birthday celebration. It is a really cool and interesting bar/ restaurant. It is kind of dark inside so watch your step. It is a pirates themed bar which makes it even cooler. Entrance and exit doors are not same. You enter through one door and exit through another one. The menu is very interesting. They have food for the pickiest people too. I ordered a cheeseburger with side of fries. I enjoyed my cheeseburger. Drinks were good. They have collectible glasses for about $50. The only downside for this location is the time limit. They have a 90 minutes time limit and they say after that you can move to the bar and no time limit. We were reminded of 90 mins and when we tried to move, no sits were available. We had to ask for to go boxes to take our food home which was really disappointing. We're really excited to try the place. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our food. This location makes you eat fast. Service is okay. Broken Compass Tiki is a pirate themed tiki bar in Burbank. They don't having a parking lot, but it was very easy to find street parking just around the corner on a Sunday afternoon. The front of the building is a little vaguely marked, and the entrance has speakeasy vibes, which was a surprise. Upon walking in the front door, there is some tiki décor and a small counter in the rear. I remember thinking to myself "what the heck, this is it?". I checked in at the host stand on the left, and was handed me a boarding pass. She then led us through a hidden door behind what looked like a shipping crate. We were now in the real Broken Compass. The interior is a good size. The two-sided bar seats around a dozen. There is a lounge side of the bar that has two large booths along the wall, and another area with comfortable looking couches and lounge chairs. The main dining room has some tiki hut booths, and two sections of tables with half booth and half chair. The décor is pretty extensive with a good mix of pirate, nautical, and tiki themes. There is a lot of bamboo, thatch, rope, cargo netting, skulls and skeletons, port holes, octopus tentacles, jellyfish, tiki lights, and more. The ceiling is dark with various nautical and pirate markings, and even tied up ship sails overhead. The tiki hut booths have the parrots from the enchanted tiki room above them. Even the two restrooms are nautical themed, with beach and marine sounds playing. There is a lot of great décor to look at. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left a few hours later, it was starting to get busy. We decided to sit at the bar. We started out with the buffalo cauliflower ($14) for an afternoon snack. The serving size was generous, and the buffalo sauce had a good tang. It was served with some sauces, and was surprisingly filling. A nice feature of the cocktail menu is that each drink displays one to three compass stars to indicate the strength of the drink. Their cocktails use a great variety of liquors including ones you don't often see. Many of the ingredients are made in-house. I started out with Chupacabra's Vacation (Demerara Rum, Jamacian Rum, Pomegranate Reduction, Cinnamon, Lime Juice, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $17). It is served with a flaming lime on top and a little fire show. It was balanced with a light booziness, some light pomegranate flavor, and a cinnamon sprinkle on top. She started out with the Bittersweet Paradise (Jamacian Rum, White Rum, Campari, Passionfruit Syrup, Lemon, Lime, Pineapple, two-star boozy rank, $18). It didn't drink boozy at all, and was passion fruit forward, with light bitterness. My second cocktail was the Bermuda Dune Buggy (Gin, Overproof Rum, Kumquat Liqueur, Cassis, Orange, Lime, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $18). It had a very unique garnish of a Chartreuse infused gummy which was delicious. The drink was nicely balanced, and didn't really drink boozy even with overproof rum in it. They have a rotating monthly cocktail and she tried the Tropic Like It's Hot (Coconut Washed Lemongrass Infused Rum, Mango, Lemon, Coconut Water, Amaro, $17) which was created by one of our bartenders Daniel. It was served in a Spam can and was light and refreshing with a nice pop of fruit at the start, and a very nice coconut flavor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and had great conversation with our bartenders Daniel and Monica. They also provided excellent service. Broken Compass supports payment with the InKind app which gives you 20% back (10% on Friday and Saturday) in InKind cash. My husband and I visited Broken Compass Tiki for lunch this past weekend. I have Celiac disease and heard about it via the Find Me Gluten Free app. Supposedly they have a dedicated fryer and many items are marked gluten-free on their menu. The inside looks really cool. You get a "boarding pass" and that's used by the staff to put you at a table. Staff was pretty good and on top of refills. Why not a higher rating? I ended up paying $25 for a gluten-free chicken sandwich and a side of tots. I felt like everything had an upcharge - even ketchup costs an extra dollar when you order a side of tater tots! I understand if anything after your first sauce costs extra, but really, not even 1 ketchup is included on a $4 upcharge to add a side of either tots / fries / potato smiles / onion rings? My "Hot or Not chicken sandwich" by itself was $19 and then I got an (undisclosed) $2 upcharge for a gluten-free bun. We didn't end up getting anything but water because even MOCKTAILS were $16 a piece!!! I want to support small, local businesses, especially in this economy but come on! It's a tiki bar and grill. I would give in 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed but I went up to 4 stars as the service was excellent. The inside is unique and setup like a pirate ship. Came for Happy Hour. Food and Drinks- 1) Sweet Potato Fries- They were like crack and I could eat them all day. They give you a lot of options for a dry rub for your fries and I went went Cajun and loved it. 2) Regular Fries with salt and pepper- These were very good, fresh and crispy. 3) Happy Hour Smash Burger- It was good but nothing special. 4) Onion Rings- They were pretty good but the fries were the standout. 5) Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos- They were good but I felt that for $17 there should have been 3 of them instead of 2. 6) Happy Hour Punch- I liked it and thought it was kind of funny that it was served in a Spam can. If you love tiki bars and tiki drinks, and you are ever in Las Vegas, the Golden Tiki should be among your first destinations. It is world class in the world of tiki and I would even suggest it is the Holy Grail of tiki bars. Short of going to Vegas, the Broken Compass in Burbank just may be the next best thing. It is an outstanding tiki bar and restaurant. The decor is fantastic. The drinks are wonderful. The (limited) food we had was mostly great. And they are kid friendly which ranks them higher in my book (although curmudgeons would surely disagree). The deviled eggs appetizer is absolutely stellar. If you love deviled eggs, these are creamy and simply loaded with flavor. They are also mini-belly bombs so it would be best to share this appetizer with others. We also ordered tater tots and, while you cannot mess up tater tots, they were just fine. The garlic aioli dip was, to my taste, a little sour and a little weird. The drinks, including the names of the drinks, are terrific. For coconut lovers, the Wake Me Up Before You Coco is strong and excellent. They also have three special non-alcoholic tiki drinks on the menu or you can always order a virgin Pina Colada. The place is relatively small but the decor is so incredible, you will never get tired of looking around. The surf music on the sound system only adds to the atmosphere. Even the interesting lobby is worth checking out (if only for for the two pinball machines). This place deserves more than one visit because there are simply so many interesting drinks and food items on the menu. The attention to detail, from the menu to the decor, is superb. Completely amazed with Broken Compass Tiki! We had such a blast. We came in Valentine's Day and sat at the bar for dinner. The menu is so fun and they have lots of options, even veg ones! So fun that it has a speakeasy vibe too. The bartender that was taking our order and making our drinks was great. Very personable! Everyone here just seems like they are in the best mood. I love the decor and the tiki vibe, but the food here is AWESOME. We had the Isle of Club Sandwich and the Hot Chicken Sandwich, both were so tasty. The hot chicken sandwich was so crunchy and had the perfect spice level. The Isle of Club Chicken sandwich was really next level. I loved the grilled pineapple! Their onion rings are insane. I've never had onion rings that were so crispy like that but didn't fall apart when you bite them. The drinks we got were so delicious and I loved the presentation. Came back during the weekday. Max is charismatic, we had him again. No rush attitude. Enjoyed the toucans better than one and the tastiest part of my husbands meal. First and foremost Tai is amazing. What a great welcoming person who made my friend and I feel completely welcome, comfortable and cared for. Bravo!! I love this space so much because its just a low key tiki bar but the service peeps were ALL a great team working g to make sure we, the customers, were taken care of. It was definitely "bar food" but that's not at all to say it was bad...after all, it sated my hunger and my thirst was slaked by a drink made to order that I set the parameters of. Since my last visit, they've added a sign out front, so the place isn't nearly as mysterious or easy to overshoot anymore. Ended up back at Broken Compass with friends who were visiting and staying in Burbank, so meeting here made sense. We came as a group of 5 and knew the drill: no reservations, expect a wait. It was about an hour, but we passed the time at Tony's Darts Away which is a 6 minute drive down the road. They texted when the table was ready, and everything moved smoothly from there. My husband and I stopped by this tiki bar recently with our friends, and we had a great time. For drinks; I started off with a Mai Tai, which was very bright, refreshing, and tasty. My husband tried the Banana Hammock Slush, which was also delicious, not too sweet, and reminded us of a boozy licuado. We also ordered the Pu Pu Platter for 2 for the both of us to share. The platter contained a variety of items from their small plates menu, such as Coconut Shrimp, Tempura Spam, Ahi Tuna Poke, Aloha Dippers, Crow's Nest Deviled Eggs, and Macaroni Salad. All of the items were delicious, full of flavor, filling, and worth the price. For dessert we had The Grand Poobah, which was a key lime pie with fruity pebble crust and whipped cream. The pie filling was delicious and tart, with the fruity pebble crust's sweetness complementing it well. The crust was a bit too firm in terms of texture, but nothing bad. Our server Steve was very polite, attentive, and helpful. He brought out our orders quickly and had a great attitude the entire time, which added to our positive experience. The dining atmosphere was very chill and gave off good vibes. The interior was clean and decorated vintage tiki style with a few bits of holiday decor for the upcoming Christmas season. They had Fallout as their theme that night (which my husband and I found cool and exciting), so they had a separate menu with themed food and drinks, along with music from the Fallout games playing in the background. A coworker of mine has mentioned this spot to me and I finally went to try it out on Friday! Walking in, I loved the speakeasy feel- you're handed a "ticket" and go through a secret door into the main restaurant. The drink menu was extensive and super fun. My partner and I shared one of the 2 person drinks and it was SO good! The presentation was also perfection. We split the poke nachos, which I absolutely devoured. I loved the flavor. We also split their special burger and added fries. The menu items we tried were all great. I think we decided if we come back, we're planning more on cocktails and splitting the nachos again because it ended up being a lot of food! Service was great! Although Broken Compass is not a very convenient drive for me from the South Bay, I probably visit more than any other place when I want to go out for great food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. On average I probably make it here 3-5 times a month. Came in yesterday with a group of 5 right when they opened. We were seated immediately, waters delivered to our table quickly, and food and drinks came to the table promptly. This group of guys loved the Painkillers (2 rounds), while I opted for a Mai Tai and a Chupacabra's Vacation. The drinks definitely did not disappoint! Food? The Pub Burger (with the brisket and short rib patty) is the bomb! And if you like your Hot Chicken Sandwich hot (as in spicy), the hot chicken sandwich here is....HOT! We also had the tots with Caribbean spice, chicken wings, fries, onion rings, Kalua Pork tacos, and the slaw. All drew rave reviews. All in all, one of my absolute favorite places to kick back and enjoy food and drink. Whether you are by yourself, with a group, with family, or with children, you can't go wrong here. We started with their slush of the month and it was refreshing with a little rum kick. Next, we tried their Miso Ramen Deviled Eggs (a unique eastern flavor that was tasty). For my main, I had the Smashed Burger (it was good BBQ smash burger with a giant onion ring, but it needed more meat as it did not even reach the end of the bun and the salad that it came with was just a handful of spinach and a little balsamic - how about a couple tomatoes or some onion or something. Who doesn't love a hidden tiki spot? With great reviews, I took my friend, a tiki aficionado, who was visiting from out of town. We got there just after 5pm but parking was already not great. Really adorable vibe and we were greeted right away to be handed our boarding passes. Pass through a"hidden" door and we were on our way. We shared a few items, a burger - delicious - brussel sprouts - can skip - and buffalo cauliflower - I'm going to crave this in the middle of the night! As for drinks.... A tiki bar is known to have over the top cocktails. My friend recommended I get a mai tai, as she said is the best way to judge a tiki bar's drinks. Well no shortage on alcohol!! Had a great first time at Broken Compass, a tiki bar for the ages on a mild-mannered stretch of Burbank Blvd., just a few blocks East of Buena Vista. Decor is fun and humorous, making for a lively scene when things get jumping to the bespoke playlist on the jukebox. My wife ordered the Pub Burger, which features a brisket and short rib patty they cook to a perfect medium-rare, sporting Irish cheddar, crispy fried onions and HP Sauce. It was a large affair, and my wife only ate half. I ordered Shut It, Polly!, their very creative version of chicken wings. Like everywhere else, the 6 large drummies are fried, but here the usual Buffalo sauce is replaced by the kind of creamy and slightly spicy Thai peanut sauce you might get with chicken satay. This was a welcome departure, and the sauce was very tasty, but I have to say that I did max out on the sauce before the wings were finished. It's a great idea, but probably better as a share dish -- by my lonesome, it was too much of a good thing. We ordered assorted tiki drinks from their cocktail menu, all of which packed a punch and plenty of flavor, our favorite being The Banana Hammock, which was like a banana chocolate milk shake with a boozy kick. Service was a mixed experience. Some staff were incredibly friendly, while others were aloof and bordering on unfriendly. A little training might help bring everyone onto the same page. But this little glitch wouldn't stop me from returning to continue the journey. read more

*Delayed post from July '25 We loved our experience at this hidden Tiki Bar in Burbank! While it took a bit to get a seat because the restaurant is busy, the waiting area is well decorated and includes a Gilligan's island pinball machine to pass the time. Inside the entire space is curated with fun décor and low lighting. The Spam can string lights and octopus tentacles hanging off the ceiling were our favorites. As for food, I was super impressed with everything! We ordered the Pupu Platter for 2, which came with lots of appetizers. The coconut shrimp had a nice thick crust, with a sweet and spicy sauce. The aloha dippers were super soft in the middle, like mashed potatoes, but had a good crisp fry on the outside. They needed more seasoning (garlic and pepper would be delicious), so we dipped them in the remaining shrimp sauce. The battered spam slices reminded me of the light batter in fish and chips, but spam is naturally very salty, so mixing it with the macaroni salad was perfect! It had just the right amount of mayo and sweet pickles. The deviled eggs with miso were fantastic as well, with the toasted sesame seeds adding a hint of nuttiness and seaweed to bring in the salt. Of all the things on the platter however, these poke nachos were the best and I recommend ordering them just by themselves. They rival some of the best I've had in Hawaii! I love how light and crispy the wonton chips are, crumbling easily under the weight of the fish. The Ponzu and spicy mayo is perfectly tangy with an acidic yet sweet taste. Plus the black sesame seeds on time add a toasty nutty flavor that compliments the fish well. I was surprised at how fresh the fish tasted as well - not chewy at all! Lastly we also ordered the kalua pork tacos, which were insanely juicy. The corn tortillas hold the filling together well despite the amount of liquid dripping out. The entrance has speakeasy vibes. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't live up to the ambiance. The Thai Noodle Salad should be removed from their menu immediately, it was inedible but my wife forcefully ate what she could. The fish tacos were decent but needed bigger tortillas. The drinks were average, very alcoholly. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong items. Others were enjoying themselves. After leaving here, we got food elsewhere. Another nice dinner! We walked in around 8:30 pm and we were sat at the bar right away. We got lucky! My partner tried the Bittersweet Paradise. He liked it. I liked the sweet part. We ordered food pretty quickly. He had the hot chicken sandwich, I opted for the fish/shrimp and chips...again! So good. Again stuck with the sticky nom noms for dessert! Yum!! This was my first time at this Tiki bar- and the vibe did not disappoint at this establishment that has been "open" for 2.5 years. The bar offers the perfect environment for a Tiki bar- they did a great job on the decor. The bar offers an extensive amount of seating at the bar, tables, and booths. The lighting is dim with minimal light to the outside. When you come to this place you will feel like you were part of the Pirates of the Caribbean. We visited during happy hour which is from 2-5pm on weekdays. The bar offers a list of happy hour drinks and food items. Unfortunately, the multiple menus provided created confusion among the group. I think the added confusion was due to at least one menu item on happy hour menu was at the same price as the standard menu- the expectation is that happy hour menus would have food and/or drinks at a cheaper price than the standard menu. Plus, one of the cocktails was not available during happy hour as the punch was being made- the bar should of substitute this drink for another one- to limit disappointment by customers. Beyond the happy hour menu, the restaurant offers an extensive list of creative drinks, that I look forward to trying. Plus, a good size menu of appetizers and entrees. Also, the desserts described by the waiter sound amazing and unique. As for parking, there is plenty of street parking on Burbank and in residential areas. Just read the signs to verify parking hours. read more

4 The decorations in the place look so good! You're definitely transported and feel like you're on vacation on an island. The aloha dippers are great but are basically smiles. I'll still get it everytime I go because they look so darn cute. The pop corn chicken was okay. It wasn't has crunchy as I like. The mocktail wasn't a fave for me. They also have limited mocktail options. I hope they add more in the future or have the option to make their cocktails virgin. Mai Thai is strong but tastes tropical, the banana hammock is very light but you can slightly taste the rum, I would recommend if you prefer drinks that are easier to drink. The fries were sooo good. I'm believe it's Cajun spice and it was sooo good with their homemade ketchup and buffalo. The popcorn chicken has a light sweet taste that is actually so nice. Our waitress was sweet but the whole staff makes sure to check up on you and gave good recommendations!! The ambiance is so cool and nice to take pictures at!! For Father's Day, 7 of us headed to K1 Speed in Burbank to run a few races. Then, we headed to Broken Compass for lunch. Our party was 6 adults and a 7 year old. You enter the actual dining area through a double door. The dining area is quite dark (though not as dark as the space between the two double doors) and the pirate decor is taken to the max. Even the bathrooms are themed, with the sounds of the ocean and birds being piped in. Service was quick and friendly. I don't drink, but the other adults did and reported that their drinks were both strong and tasty. The drink menu uses compasses to show how strong each drink is, so you can avoid a 3-compass drink if you want to avoid getting intoxicated. The food, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. We ordered a pub burger, smashburger, shrimp taco, tofu sandwich, and a couple of chicken sandwiches (one hot one not). The tofu sandwich was somewhat soggy. The smashburger lacked the crispy edges that you order a smashburger for. The pub burger was run-of-the-mill as were the chicken sandwiches. The only dish that received a thumbs-up were the shrimp tacos. We also ordered chips and guac (not bad), buffalo cauliflower (strong vinegar taste but not much heat) and aloha dippers (which were not nearly as good as they sounded). I think it's fair to say that Broken Compass Tiki leans heavy into the drinks, and they seem to do a pretty good job at that. I've been disappointed before with pub food but hoped for a better experience based on reviews left by other Yelpers. My 3-star rating is applicable if your primary purpose is getting some food. read more

What a fun spot! They added this new entrance, where you check in and you're given a ticket/boarding pass , then meter the restaurant and hand over your ticket. It's cute. I really enjoy that they went hard on the theme here. Really feels like you're in a pirate ship/out on the sea. it's done well. The decor, menu item names, and lighting all follow suit. Even the restrooms follow the theme, nice sound of waves and seagulls as background noise. Full on immersive experience. I think the main focus here are the drinks/cocktails. There's a huge menu of options with tiki drinks, rum selections, rum flights, cocktail of the month, rotating slush drinks, etc. For Happy Hour, some of these cocktails are about $3 off. I went with the Wake Me Up Before You Coco Cocktail and it was very good/not overly sweet. The tiki version of an espresso martini but better (imo) But don't get me wrong on the food here, it's also very good! Didn't get to try any main dishes as we were here mostly for shareable and drinks, plus it was Happy Hour. We tried the: Cheese Curds Fish Tots Spam Sliders Crows Nest Deviled Eggs Shut Up Polly - Thai peanut wings Cheese curds were CHEESY and had a light crispy fry, the fish tots came with a malt vinegar spray to spray on which I thought was interactive/fun, deviled eggs had a miso "ramen" flavor which was unique and kind of on the sweet side, and the WINGS WERE BOMB. super crispy with that creamy peanut butter sauce and hint of spice. FYI- they also have a kids menu for the little ones It's a nice place to check out and if you are a fan of tiki bars, it's a MUST! First visit in a while and we noticed a few changes. Entrance now gives a little bit of a speak-easy vibe that is fun, and while I don't think there's less seating, it sure feels more intimate. Same great vibe, though. We were able to grab spots at the bar and service, from Britt, was great. In fact, everyone seemed more friendly, so that was nice. Weird experience of being told we need to wait to enter a "restaurant" that was half full. Overpriced food that was bland and sauces that were over salted. And then being told that there's a 20% automatic gratuity for a party of 5 when one of those 5 is a 1 year old. I am looking at the menu now having thought about this and you state, on parties of 6 or more or $140 bills or higher an automatic gratuity applies. Neither of those circumstances applied to our dinner. So, perhaps people should be weary of this place as they overcharge you on mediocre food and then lie about when automatic gratuity applies. This place was really awesome, however, I'm really disappointed in the service. I'm just one person by myself, waiting to pick my kids up. I can't even go to a bar next-door to get food. A couple went in front of me and I was polite and let them go ahead. The person at the front desk let them go told them that it would be a 30 minute wait, and even though I'm just by myself he told me a 45 minute wait right after. I just wish that this place with all of its glory would just have a little more sense. It's not about the location or the fancy ambience. It's also about making sure that the community is served. One of my favorite places to visit with family and friends! Anytime I want a tropical drink, I make my way here. I really enjoy the happy hour specials and seasonal menu items. The vibe is great and I enjoy how fun the staff is. There is a 90 minute limit, so that's something to remember when dining. read more
