Stopped into Game Changer for a bite of lunch and a good tequila to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. It's a nicely appointed restaurant, with TVs covering the walls, and all manner of sports playing at all times. It was a little past prime lunch time, so there were only a few customers eating, and the staff was getting the place ready for what was surely to be a busy night (Cindo de Mayo + the Lakers in the playoffs). I ordered my glass of tequila (Don Julio Reposado), which was served neat with a fresh slice of orange, and was just what I needed. To eat, I decided on the Fried Calamari with crispy jalapeños -- and that's where things headed downhill. The calamari was seriously sub-par, disappointingly chewy even when hot right out of the kitchen, and then downright rubber-like when slightly cooled. I'm assuming this is cheap, commercial, frozen calamari, as you might get someplace that also serves Dodger Dogs as a feature attraction. Let's start with the positive... cool place to watch sports! There is an awesome employee who has been there every time we come. He looks black but I know he speaks Spanish - I think he shared he is of Dominican ancestry - he's awesome! The food was good. My drink was good! Zach on the other hand... my husband and I sat at the bar. My husband is black! We ordered my drink, my husband was indecisive as to what he wanted to drink so we started with an appetizer. He immediately asked for a credit card - no problem! We gave him a credit card. He immediately handed it back to me. I thought that was odd because they normally hold cards at most bars. A few minutes later I get an alert for a charge (not a hold). We paid attention and he didn't do that with anyone else. Did he profile us based on the color of my husband's skin? Someone else brought us our food. NOBODY ever asked us if we wanted anything else. We were never provided a napkin or silverware (other guests at the bar were). We decided to find somewhere else to watch the game. I asked to close out (I still needed to sign and leave a tip - especially since we come here from time to time) and he hands me an unpaid bill! Huh??? I question it because I obviously got the alert that he charged my card. He didn't seem to think I knew and had every intention of charging me again. It gets worse - my husband wanted to pay in cash and when he charged my card (without giving us a choice to pay cash or card) he charged us an additional 3% for using a credit card! I took that 3% off his tip! I typically tip even if service is mediocre at best because I was once in the food service industry. Zach was horrible! He provided almost no service but the worst part is I'm pretty sure we were racially profiled and definitely treated very poorly. Very sad! read more

Stopped by in a random Wednesday for a quick diner and drinks. We got here fairly early so we had plenty of seating options. The bartender was wonderful! Got us started with our drinks and menus. We started with the fried pickles and loaded tater tots. Both of them were super good. But definitely be careful with those fried pickles. They are extremely warm. And I love pickles and I'm extremely impatient, and bite into it and burned my lip. I had the Fish and Chips, and they were good. Not your typical two pieces of fish but small ball shaped bites. I had the Royal Chocolate Stout and O.M.G was it fantastic! I'd come back just for the beer! For dessert we shared the Pecan Pie and that too was yummy. Came here for college football. It was so packed! Literally every table booked. You had to make a reservation, which was nice actually because you're guaranteed a seat. Also no cover charge which is much appreciated. We had a party of 7. They have plenty of tables but I feel like 7 or 8 would be the max party size. At least when there's a watch party situation. Service was a bit slow but that's to be expected when it was pretty much at capacity. Our server was great though. He was on it. It's very loud on game days. Also there are literally 20-something TVs which is a bit excessive. But no more craning your neck to see! Food was pretty good. I had the mezze platter. A bit salty but scrumptious nonetheless. My husband and I made a reservation at Game Changer Brewhouse to watch the Chargers playoff game and arrived early for our 5:15 p.m. reservation. Upon arrival, we were told reservations "did not matter" and were quoted a 30-45 minute wait, which turned into nearly an hour. Multiple parties who arrived after us were seated before we were. We were finally seated at 5:25 p.m. at a makeshift table on the public sidewalk, directly in front of the entrance, with folding chairs. We were told several times we would receive heaters, yet nearby tables received them while we did not- until we specifically asked someone we assumed was a manager. Service was extremely slow. Our server dropped off empty water glasses and took over 10 minutes to return with water. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks, a starter, and entrées at the same time, but it took over 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and tables seated after us were served before us. Our entrees arrived before our starter. Even after a reminder, the appetizer arrived about 20 minutes later. The crispy cauliflower was dry, greasy, and had an off putting fishy taste, so we sent it back. Both our water and beer glasses were visibly dirty. Throughout the evening, we overheard management comping food and drinks for other tables due to similar issues. Overall, between the disregard for reservations, poor seating, slow service, food quality issues, and cleanliness concerns, this was a very disappointing experience. read more

Three stars goes to our waitress, Addie. She never walked by our table, even when her hands were full delivering to another table, without looking to see if anything was needed. If we needed a refill, she stopped on her way back to the kitchen. Never missed a beat and always smiling. And she could be the double for Billy Bob Thorton's daughter in Landman. The food was okay but overpriced. The menu didn't mention that the $19 wings, which were very good, only included 6 wings: $3.17 per wing is insane. The Classic Cheeseburger at $19 was so-so and seemed small and odd flavors, but the fries were good. The $23 Mezze Platter had hummus, smoked onion dip, olives, veggie crudité (celery and carrots), cucumber, radish, and garlic lavash crackers. Pricey for what was included. The radish (or whatever root vegetable was included) was not peeled so it was so bitter it was inedible. The $19 fish taco trio was good except for the mint. For me, that did not blend well with the tacos and ruined them, but my daughter loved them. What was annoying? It is very loud because of the brick and concrete floor, but hey, it's a sports bar. No big problem there. But it is a sports bar and the Kings were in the playoffs. Lots of TVs, so no problem that they had some with the NFL Draft, the not-local NBA game, and the Kings game. Everyone could see the game they wanted. The problem? The manager decided that the sound should be the NBA game. Nothing but squeaking sneakers and the game calls. I looked around, and 95% of the people were watching the Kings game. Several people, including me, asked him to change the sound. Nope. Two tables had asked him to put on the NBA game, so that was that. No one said put the sound on for the NBA game, just the game. The main big screens all had it on. Fine. I discussed it with him as we left before our game was over because it was too annoying. First reaction was that the NBA game would be over before the Kings game and we could hear it then. He then said he was going to put us outside so we could have the Kings game sound on. What? He doubled-down on what he did. He was just not going to budge. Despite wanting a tab bit more seasoning salt on the chips, the steak was actually cooked to my desired medium rare (which truly never happens despite all attempts) and was sizable at that. For context, I asked the server about the portions and she was right! Service: 5/5 I did make a last minute reservation earlier that day for 2 at 6P during college football season to which when I got there the hostess looked a little stress at the options. We were a group of 3, and our reservations were to sit at the bar?(idk what the point was in making them lol). Anyway - the bartender Jenna was THHHEEEE BEST!! Decided today was the day to try on a new sports bar and I knew I'd need to expand my radius from home, so I made the drive and and soon as I tried to find parking on Ventura Boulevard, I remembered why I hated shopping along Ventura Boulevard. Found parking down the street a way, but only about a :5 walk. I was definitely late for kick-off, but since the pandemic sports bars haven't been too packed, but when I walked up, I could tell the place was completely packed, but they were able to find me one little spot at the bar, which is where I was hoping to sit anyway. As I was waiting, I was checking out the vaulted architecture of the brickwork inside, and it gave the brewhouse a very nice ambience and visual beauty. They do pack the tables and people into this spot, so watch your step as you wind through the aisles. They were definitely busy, but I sat at the bar for a good :15 minutes before anybody even looked my way. Their menu is definitely curated for the local population, so you won't find some typical sports bar fare on the menu, and we'll see something that you don't think of when you think about sports bars; however, the Berger I had was very good and everything I saw being served looked excellent. Also, it was packed when I went in and I left about halftime at the first game, and quickly noticed that a lot of the tables had plenty of space at them, so I'm not sure if most people don't spend an entire game there or not. It's definitely not local for me, but I would definitely come back because the place had a really good sports camaraderie scene, good food, and (eventually) attentive staff. read more

A freind and I went for a nice walk. I googled this place and it looked like a good site to catch a playoff game. We walked in approximately 10 minutes before the game started. There was no hostess at the stand out front, so we walked up to the bar and asked the bar tender if it was okay for us to sit in two of the empty chairs. She said sure, and then brought us menu's and water. A couple of minutes later a guy wearing a suit started talking to some servers and the bartenders within hearing distance of us patrons. He told his staff that he had reservations for all the tables and the bar seats within hearing distance of us patrons. The guy next to me that I did not know turns to me and says "I guess they are kicking us out. " he had a drink and a finished plate of food in front of him. The manager guy in the suit made his employees tell the patrons that we would have to go. He didn't even do it himself. What a poor manager and leader. There was no planning as his team obviously did not know in advance and he was telling them the game plan after the game had started. I would have been fine if it had been explained to us that it was reservations only and that they were full, but since I asked and was seated I thought it was disrespectful, rude, and in really poor taste to ask us to leave after that. They made no effort to keep us there, and you could tell that the staff did not agree with the manager but that they had no choice but to follow orders. I won't ever go back. First time I have ever been seated at a place and then told after that they couldn't serve us and that we had to leave. The other thing was that they supposedly had reservations for all their tables and the bar, but the place was only half full 10 minutes before kick off. I doubt the reservations showed up. We went down the street to Islands and watch the game there. The bartender there is named Syd and she was great. Very friendly and attentive. We left her a really good tip. read more
