Al pastor tacos
Manny Y.

My friends took me to Casita as I'm visiting LA. They've never been but heard good things. We had a reservation and was walked to table quickly. Our attentive waiter,Eli, welcomed us and asked us what we wanted to drink. We got margaritas. Then he mentioned a couple popular items but we ordered Guacamole, shrimp ceviche, tuna tartar, chicken taquitos, chicken enchiladas, Al pastor tacos, carne asada tacos. Overall we were impressed with Eli's service and the food quality. We would come back. If you're in the hood and want Mexican give them a try. Bonus. They allowed dogs in the place. Lively and almost fun club atmosphere

We were a party of 3 on a Thursday. Great service and a great vibe. We got there around 5:30 when it was pretty empty, and by the time we left at 7:30 it was completely packed. We started with the yellowtail with passion fruit and tuna tartare. The yellowtail was tart and fresh, really nice to start. The tuna tartare was a bit fishy and a little too salty for my taste. Then we had carne asada chicharrones which had great flavor, but pretty chewy. The chicken wings were very crispy but over seasoned, so the flavor did not really stand out. We then had tacos. Each order comes with two each, but we added an extra one since we were three people. The ribeye was thin with a lot of onions but had good flavor. The barbacoa was solid. The carnitas was my favorite. We ended with churros for dessert. They were crunchy and sweet, probably frozen, but still a good way to finish the meal. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend but a few short falls so 4 stars.

Beautiful exterior of the restaurant

Came here for drinks and bites during happy hour and was pleasantly surprised. The space is really beautiful. There is greenery throughout, warm lighting, and a bar setup that feels modern but still inviting. It definitely sets a fun, slightly elevated tone. We ordered a few tacos and their Salsa & Guacamole tower. The margaritas were really well balanced (not overly sweet), and everything came out looking great. Portions lean more towards family/ shareable style, so it's best to order a few things to share. Our server Jenna was amazing- super attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations, which really elevated the experience. The manager Nick also came by to check in, chatted with us for a bit, and even gave us his card. Just genuinely nice and made us feel taken care of. One thing to note, happy hour is bar seating only. We weren't aware beforehand, but they were able to accommodate us by moving us to high-top seating right by the bar so we could still order from the happy hour menu, which we really appreciated. It does get pretty busy and a bit loud once it fills up, so just keep that in mind if you're looking for something more low-key. Valet parking is available, which makes it easy. Overall, a great spot for drinks and appetizers! Would definitely come back to try more from the menu.

It was the start of daylight saving and it was international women's day. The days are now longer and the weather was beautiful so I wanted to treat myself to a solo date. I also wanted to try a new restaurant in the neighborhood. I pull up and it was their happy hour so I sit at the bar. The vibe was very chill and I ended up conversing with two separate parties. I ordered my first drink, a spicy passionfruit margarita. It's a perfect blend of spicy, tart sweetness. I also had a watermelon margarita and it wasn't my favorite. I assumed it would be more refreshing than it was, but it was a bit on the sweeter side. I ordered the shrimp ceviche. While it was a refreshing starter, it lacked a bit of flavor. The waiter also forgot my chips :/. My neighbor was kind enough to give me his chips so disaster averted. I ordered the caesar salad and omg it was the highlight of my meal. It was delicious with a hint of heat from the spiced pepitas that increased the flavor. This is probably the best caesar salad this side of town. I am not even a crouton person but the seasoning on the croutons were seriously so amazing. The taquitos were pretty amazing too. I'd like to add that they are pretty generous with the guacamole. I love guac! I definitely will return to try other items on the menu.

Beautiful restaurant with a tropical touch. I loved dining here. The open windows and beautiful weather added the perfect vibe to my Sunday. Valet, street, and nearby parking are available, although I can imagine it gets very busy at times. The Bloody Maria was perfectly balanced. I'm a big breakfast burrito gal, but I wish it had been cut in half before serving, not to pieces, and maybe the garnishes were put aside. The wrap had become very soggy, and I ended up eating it with a fork and pushing most of the tortilla aside. The servers were attentive and friendly.

We went on a Thursday for DineLA and I think it's worth it! The food was delicious especially the fish tacos for me. The chips were essentially free flowing that we're full already towards the end and can't finish the chicken anais lol. Their salsas and other dips are dangerously good with the chips! The butter cake was not my favorite since it's a little too sweet for my liking. The cocktails at Casita are well-crafted, unfortunately you can't avail of the happy hour when you're on table seating. The servers, however, are really pleasant and even allowed us to do a round from the happy hour menu. Always a great time at this place! *Parking is valet or street parking :)

I literally came here just for a margarita before dinner with friends. I will come back and try the food someday. Brian was my bartender and was so kind and fun!! Will definitely come back for dinner!

We came here on Easter for brunch as I have only come here for dinner and drinks in the past. We each got something different so we could all try a little of each other's plates. 1. French Toast 5/10 The texture was good however not much flavor unless you ate it with the sauce and the berries that came on the side and it's two small slices which really is just one slice of bread so for the price not worth it in my opinion. 2. Breakfast burrito 9/10 This was really good all of the flavors with the different proteins, eggs and potatoes was a good combination. 3. Yellowtail Passionfruit Aguachiles 7/10 This was interesting it's wasn't bad but the waiter came after being the plate and later poured the passionfruit sauce into the center and it was quite overwhelming since it was so much. We wish he had poured less and then left some for us to keep oh the side for us to add as we are. They also don't serve this with any tortilla chips or tostadas which is odd because that type of dish should come with it. 4. Espresso Martini 10/10 they use their house tequila which and Mr Black coffee liqueur The ambiance was great I love the inside decor. Service was good they were pretty attentive and gave good suggestions. I think this would be the first and last time I came here for brunch tho. I'll stick to dinner and drinks

One of my favorite Mexican spots when im in town for work! The salsa tower is always good and dont get me started with how good the pork belly and steak tacos are! Also tried a mezcal old fashioned! Highly recommend.

Came here to Casita a few years ago when it first opened and failed to do a review. However, I came here this past Saturday and it was nice! Sat at the bar and had happy hour, which is daily 4-6:30pm. I think that's awesome for happy hour on the weekend!!! Just a Brilliant idea. The food was decent not bad but could have been a lil better! The guac was good and the chicken nachos from Happy hour menu. They could have put more beans all over the nacho chips, but it was still pretty good overall 4/5 for me. I also had the passion fruit Margarita that was decent just a lil too sweet for me. The servers at the bar were all nice and on it. Fast service and great sense of humor. It wasn't too packed but very modern and nice with big and small parties. I did valet for $14 and I think that's good sense street parking is rare -Marshay D.

Love coming to Casita! It's perfect for just about anything. Have visited with all sorts of people even kids and they've all enjoyed it. The atmosphere is always lively and inviting. The team is very attentive, shot out to Kiki for great service! My go to's are the Chicharrones, Calamari, Little gems Salad, Rib Eye Tacos, Australian Wagyu Plate. Appreciate that most of their drinks can be made into Mocktails. If you're into that I recommend the Strawberry Basil Margarita.

Ale S.

Cute little spot. Nicely decorated. Our waitress was great! Sadly I don't remember her name. I tried the Avocado margarita and wasn't a fan. They thankfully switched out the drink for me. The spicy passionfruit margarita was my favorite. The food was good, especially the carne asada large plate. Only got 4 stars due to serving size being small. Was stated to be family style but one person could've finished the plate alone. However, I'd come back. The carne asada plate was that good.

No problem... except no one came to us for ever. We were maybe 1 of 4/5 tables in the place. Finally we flagged down someone who got our drinks going. Looks like he was the bartender - bar did have people too. Took awhile to get some food going as well, but we did eventually. Staff was friendly, so other than the waiting, it was a great time. We had some froses which were yummy. Wings were good and we LOVED the crab cakes, though we thought they were on the small side. Loved atmosphere and definitely will come back.

Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.
