Great wine, cute service and lovely ambiance! Love how close it is to where I live. It will absolutely be my regular hangout!

LOVE Buvette. The wine selection is vast and the bartenders/wine enthusiasts are extremely knowledgeable. They will help find the optimal varietal for your desired interest. The menu is also super good, but is limited. Adorable little booths on the side with a few bar seats and a couple tables outside. We love bringing our dog and sitting on the patio. The decor is super cute. This location is very small, maybe 30ish ppl max? Perfect for a date night, drink and apps, or dinner. Happy Hour is great and the wines on it aren't just low shelf like a lot of places do, they're always rotating which is fun. Cheese boards are always great. The staff is always so incredibly kind.

This is the cutest little wine bar! I went with two friends, and I would not recommend going with more than 2. They did have seating, but it's definitely an intimate setting. The bartender was extremely helpful, and let me try 3 different wines before settling on a glass. I really appreciated the care taken! Overall, I can't wait to return and try more.

Union Sacré Wine. Charcuterie and Cheese

Ahhh Buvette you gorgeous local haunt! We enjoyed yet another Union Sacré wine with an incredible charcuterie board. I had to get all fancy with the combos but this was an incredible date night walk by. I can't recommend this place enough, it's cute, chique, and has a great selection of wines. The service is, as always, impeccable and sweet. Ya'll rule, thank you for a lovely evening!

Been scooting pass this 'lil sliver of a bar for years shuffling over to Tipsy Cow in the early afternoon as it is boarded up closed until 4pm. Little did I know this piece of Jenga in between the Cow and Toast is a cozy place of R&R with great wine picks, small selection of good beer, pristine cocktails as well as great small bites (tinned fish ftw) and even better [bar] tenders. Very welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Must try.

An exquisite bottle of French champagne to toast my friend's Where's Waldo 40th! The bartender was so kind to take our photo

My friend turned 40 and we decided the throw her a "Where's Waldo" 40th birthday crawl with intentions of us all dressing as Waldo and hopping from place to place down Ventura Blvd, seeing what we could get into. Buvette was the first place of the night and I'm SO GLAD we made a stop here. This place is small but mighty. A nice wine and cocktail list only (get your beer next door), small booth seating on the inside and a small intimate patio outside. It's a nice place for lovers, no doubt, but our group made it a little rowdy for the evening. That's ok. Everyone had good laughs staring at us dressed alike. We bought a bottle of French wine to toast the birthday girl (this one was very good! Lightly sweet with citrus notes, extremely refreshing), and the bartender was such a help to us the time we were there! He pulled out glasses for everyone to toast, he was our photographer and our cheerleader. Thank you! I want to come back on a date. I'll be back.

I had to get use to sipping my margarita like a civilized person, rather than gulping it down. We started with the queso fundido. Too bad it cools so quickly and is so thick. It had a trio of salsas on top. And the chips are excellent. They brought us plenty of refills on chips. We ordered the salsa sampler. Three different salsas in tiny ramekins. All tasty, but usually Mexican restaurants give you salsa and chips for free. We had to spend $18. I had a chile rellano unlike any I have had before. A lot of black beans, a blistered chile and some cojita cheese sprinkled on top. I am used to a chile rellano filled with cheese. It was just okay. My husband had the carne aside. Basically a steak and roasted potatoes. Nice steak, but nothing Mexican about it. The potatoes were ordinary. Our guest ordered AGUACHILE DE CHAYOTE squash, pineapple aguachile, cilantro macho. She wanted a vegetarian option. This was a cold soup. She had no idea what she was getting. I guess we should have asked. All in all the menu is confusing. I have eaten Mexican food throughout LA and travelled extensively in Mexico, and this was all very new to me. They did tell us at the beginning that things were good to share. This would have been a good sharing dish with the chips. It was very unusual. The dessert flan was very tasty with pecans and a crispy churro like garish. We would have like a little more explanation on the menu of what we were ordering. Every item is unexpected and out of the ordinary. Daisy is a good place to go for a taste adventure, good margaritas and a hefty bill.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday for a quick drink before a movie, and the "vibe" was non-existent. They have four TVs at the bar, but the setup was bizarre, two were completely off and another was just frozen on a directory logo. The biggest issue, however, is the cleanliness--or lack thereof. The place is incredibly dirty. It feels like it hasn't had a deep clean in weeks, maybe longer. The bar top was disgusting, the floors were grimy, and even the woodwork looked like it hadn't seen a rag since opening day. They are charging $17 for "signature cocktails," which is bold for a spot that feels like a neglected dive bar. If you're going to charge premium prices, you have to at least wipe down the countertops. Service-wise, the bartender was friendly enough but low energy and minimal level of service. To make matters worse, a shift change happened while we were there, and the departing bartender made us close out our check and start a brand-new one with the next person. Why should the staff's administrative hand-off be the customer's issue? It's just unprofessional. The Valley has so many actual dive bars with character and plenty of high-end spots for a great cocktail; I'm not sure where this place is trying to fit in. It feels like someone bought it and just stopped caring. We won't be back.

Lovely spot for Mexican food with fun vibes!…read more I came for Sunday brunch/lunch with some friends. I made a reservation through Yelp a couple days beforehand and there was plenty of availability. The restaurant is located right off Ventura Blvd and has an attached parking garage in the basement which can be accessed via the parking lot behind the restaurant. There were plenty of spots available Sunday afternoon when I came. It's a bit hidden, but there is an elevator from the garage to the top level where the restaurant is located as well. We had two babies in strollers with us, so I requested a table with plenty of space nearby for the strollers. They seated us outside on their covered patio, and indeed, we had plenty of space. I peeked inside and there's also a nice lounge area with a beautiful flower wall as well as a proper dining area. When we arrived, there was a live DJ spinning tunes. I assume he's there during brunch hours, as he left around 3 pm when brunch ended. I started with a frozen lime margarita ($12). It was okay; it felt like it was only half frozen as the ice wasn't blended that well. For my main, I got the famous Anejo carne asada and shrimp plate for $40. Yes it was pricy, but the portion size was also huge! I was starving and somehow managed to finish the plate, but it'd be a great dish to share for two people with small appetites. I really enjoyed it as well. I asked for the steak to be cooked rare, and they didn't overcook it. Each bite was super tender and flavorful and paired well with the rice. Everyone else also enjoyed their dish. One friend got the wet chicken burrito for $15 and it was massive! Another got the veggie fajitas with steak added and really enjoyed her dish as well. Solid food all around. I would love to come back on a weekday and try their happy hour! Sipping on $5 margaritas and $6 sangrias sounds like my idea of a great time!

Food Highlights Garlic Noodles with Lobster This was my favorite dish of the night. The noodles were rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. They were sweeter than I expected, but still really, really good. The lobster was tender and added a great contrast to the sauce. Seabass A small plate but a standout. The fish was cooked perfectly and had a clean, delicate flavor. It paired well with everything else we ordered. Lobster Wagyu A fun, indulgent dish. The wagyu was rich and melt‑in‑your‑mouth, and the lobster added a nice texture contrast. Definitely a premium bite. Tuna Crispy Rice Crispy rice is always a crowd favorite, and Taisho's version is excellent. The rice had the perfect crunch and the tuna was fresh and flavorful. Nigiri Chef's Choice (2 orders) These were beautifully prepared and a great way to sample a variety of fish. Clean cuts, fresh flavor, and well‑seasoned rice. A solid choice if you want variety. Overall Taisho delivered a great meal with standout service. Katrina made the experience feel easy and enjoyable, and every dish we tried had something memorable about it. We'll definitely be back.

Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

I made a reservation for Easter Brunch through OpenTable for me and my son. We got there about five minutes before our reservation at noon and the hostess told us to wait outside until they were open. Not a problem. HOWEVER, she never came back out to get us once they were open which was my first red flag because she left us waiting about 10 minutes past our reservation time. I go back inside to ask if we were going to be seated for our reservation and she asks under what name...mind you I was there before opening so she already had my name and time for reservation before no one else was there yet. The food itself was great but our service was absolutely terrible. We weren't checked on throughout the meal (again the restaurant was NOT crowded) and after completing our meal I realized the hostess deleted my reservation. For those who use OpenTable you know you get points for every completed reservation. I reached out privately to management first about my overall experience to hopefully rectify the issue. I wasn't looking for any incentives but that they at least train their wait staff better and resubmit my reservation in the system so I could both redeem my points and leave a review. It never happened. In an economy where everything is expensive just stepping outside I really value good service as well as good food. If the food is great but service is terrible I will never go back and this is that spot. Discrimination shows up in different ways and I will not patronize a business who blatantly does not show all of their customers the same level of respect and service. Posted pictures so you know I'm not a hater...food was great. Service was absolutely not it lol.

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.
