I wish I had read my last review from 9 yrs ago before revisiting this place today. Let me tell you about the good things first... this won't take long. Kelley, our server, was a sweetheart. And the glass of wine was a nice pour and a decent wine. I like that they let you in for something to drink before officially opening for the day. Cue record scratch... now about that food. No, we did not order the wrong thing and no, IMO, they were not just having a bad day. Look at these Huevos Rancheros with "house hash, tostadas and 3 eggs"... those are chips (I think from a bag of tortilla chips) so not really a tostada, no way there were three eggs in that thing (from what I could see)... not sure what the "house hash" is but nothing I could identify on the plate. I know a lot of people might leave a restaurant and say "I could have made that at home" but there is no way I would make something this crappy at home. LOOK at this Avocado Toast with "avocado spread"... that is some thin smear of something green but when you are calling something "Avocado Toast" there should be a substantial amount of the hero ingredient (and maybe not call it "avocado spread" on your menu description. To me, that says, "Look we don't want to call this a "rustic mash of avocado" or "Hass smash" or "hand-crushed ripe avocado" because we know you are actually going to SEE it in front of you in about 15 minutes and "avocado spread" won't lead to a major disappointment." But it did. And this slab of dry plywood that they were calling toast. I turned to my wife and in my best Sebastian Manascalco said, "Why would you do that??" This place mostly failed on food. The food at the other tables looked equally pathetic. Gotta say... all of the cooked egg components of each dish were decent but the rest of the items were like WTF? Ambiance? It's OK... I mean it was a bar with a ton of TVs going. Semi-nice vibe for a sports bar... lots of room. Just can't get over the food. We ate about half of our sodium bombs and left. I always love stopping by On The Thirty to hangout/dine when in the area! It's right on Ventura with a nice outdoor patio space, so it's great for a bit of people watching (or perhaps more like car watching at times)! They're usually playing sports on the tv's inside when we go, but we usually just chill on the outdoor space. Service has always been super friendly and good about making sure you're taken care of and giving you refills/anything else you may need. For the food - last time I went, I got one of the salads (trying to be a little bit healthier haha)! It was HUGE, super fresh, and packed FULL of flavor from all the delicious toppings. The perfect mix of textures with some crunchiness. There's plenty of other menu items as well - we've had items like the burgers, brick oven pizzas, and ceviche in the past. All are very generously portioned, packed with high quality ingredients, and super tasty/satisfying to enjoy! Oh yeah, and if you drink...the cocktails here are tasty and STRONG! Huge kudos to On The Thirty for effectively changing with the times. This stylish gastropub opened at the height of the good days in Hollywood, offering an upscale casual bar scene and bites that were always tasty but also, admittedly, pricier than they deserved to be. Flash forward, with so many having trouble making ends meet, this neighborhood mainstay has figured out how to stay open, stay stylish, and stay relevant to people with far less cash in their pockets. The sleek decor remains just so, totally well-maintained and comfortable. But the menu's been cleverly tweaked, offering less fancy small bites than before at lower prices. A good example: they previously offered a fairly extensive selection of cheeses and charcuterie, allowing you to choose your own combination, all of which required them to keep a host of high-end products ready, waiting and fresh. Now, they offer a curated plate of cheeses and charcuterie that provides much the same experience at a fraction of the cost. The rest of the menu dances between a good selection of shareables (offered in small or large sizes) and a nice choice of larger bites (burgers, sandwiches, pastas, salads, pizzas, etc.). The result is a wide variety of options large and small, all at affordable prices. The drinks are equally reasonable. I started with the Firecracker Shrimp: batter dipped, shell-on prawns that are flash-fried and tossed in a somewhat spicy but mostly sweet Asian marinade. The shrimp were, ironically, pretty large and quite tasty. Had they been served with rice, the dish would have filled me up -- but the shrimp were presented nicely atop shredded cabbage, and so I was left a little peckish. That's why I ordered a small portion of Bacon-wrapped dates, stuffed with cheese. 4 skewers arrived, with plump dates, crispy, flavorful bacon, and warm, softened cheese. My only complaint was that the honey drizzled atop made the dish a tad too sweet -- perhaps a Hot Honey would be a more effective final flourish. But when all was said and done, On The Thirty delivered a satisfying, tasty, light dinner in a relaxing, casually upscale environment at a reasonable price. This review is for cocktails only. A group of us stopped in for cocktails pre dinner at Anajak and had a nice time with our server Kayla. The bar was full, but Kayla didn't mind that we took a table, even though we told her we weren't ordering food. The groups of us ordered a Botanist Gin and Tonic ($15), the Eldorado Delight ($17), a Spicy Watermelon sub Mezcal ($17) and a Classics Old Fashioned ($17). They're now permanently closed. They made a critical mistake with their pricing and simply couldn't admit it until it was too late. Instead of adjusting their food prices, they added a credit card service charge directly to the bill. We don't want to see surprise, itemized fees for credit card processing, insurance, dishwashing, or floor sweeping. Just build the cost of doing business into the price of the food. We were huge fans and loyal customers until they refused to remove the charge. Once customers leave, it's hard to get them back. read more

Came on a Saturday to watch some college football games. We were able to be seated right away. We had the thirty pizza and the poutine. The poutine looks like it has changed from previous pictures are it wasn't cheese curds but melted cheese. Both items were still good regardless. My husband and I have always enjoyed the food here. It's one of our usual neighborhood spots. We love being able to walk there from our house. Unfortunately, this morning's brunch was disappointing. I had the Elevated Avocado Toast (description on menu: Our dough with house seasoned avocado spread caprese: topped with diced tomatoes and mozzarella pearls). There was nothing elevated about this toast. It was a basic bread slightly toasted, barely enough avocado spread to cover each piece of toast. Plus, the avocado spread tastes premade from a bag, not fresh. There were more onions than tomatoes. The "mozzarella pearls" was regular mozzarella that was chopped up. I added eggs on top, sunny side up, they were cold. My husband had the Three Eggs Any Style (description: Served with 2 strips of bacon and homestyle fried potatoes with onions). He was given the wrong potatoes. The kitchen gave him papa freitas instead. The pancakes were decent. Our waitress was lovely as usual. We somehow always get the same waitress when we go. I hope they can use this as a learning opportunity for the future. We will be sticking to their dinner menu for now on. read more

We found out about this place around month and a half ago and then came back already 5 times. They have tasty food, different types from veggies to meat. They r serving ribs on weekends and that's so scrumptious We weren't so excited about taste of pizza , but to each their own. All are polite and friendly. They have hooks for your purse at the bar. They give a nice sized ice cream scoop with the deep fried Red velvet OREOS. Top tier! It's been a while since we were last here for a meal. Prior it was drinks but at the bar. Popped ok for a little bite which happened to also be happy hour. They do offer a wide array of small plates, entrees pizzas and so on. But we went for the happy hour items which they did offer a few items for a small fraction of the price. Cocktails and drinks as well. Food wise, had the truffle fries, bacon wrapped dates, firecrackers shrimp, meatballs, and a pizza. All was excellent. Happy hour prices included any of the pizza in the menu. The dates were excellent as well as the meatballs which were huge. Served with toasted bread. The good is that the food isn't terrible, but I wouldn't say it's worth some of the pricing. The happy hour prices are reasonable, but otherwise you get small tapas portions for what seems like full meal pricing. The bar drinks were very good! Service was subpar and it seemed as if there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. More staffing might help with this issue. I cant speak to the dishes that they ordered because I am a vegetarian, but I ordered the caprese avocado toast and it actually was made very well. I had added egg whites but shouldn't have since it was a massive portion on top of my toast. Took off about half the amount. We also had the deep fried oreos with red velvet filling. They didn't have any tables in the main room so they seated us in the back room and let us choose the music that they played! It was honestly so fun & we had the room to ourselves for a bit before other tables got seated there too. They have 3 mimosa options: regular glass, large glass, and bottomless. I did a large glass and it was a full wine glass so very worth it. I got the huevos rancheros & they were good, but nothing special. I honestly wish I got the smoked salmon benny. Amazing experience from start to finish. The service truly went above and beyond. The manager ended up being our server and made sure everything was perfect, explaining the menu, sharing recommendations, and encouraging us to try certain food and drinks because he was genuinely proud of what they offer. It honestly felt like being taken care of by a friend. The entire staff was kind, patient, and welcoming. This is our favorite place. We live near by and walk to it very often, for a while now wait staff are great. There is only ONE HUGE COMPLAINT I have and is about the manager/owner. We came for brunch today and in all the time we have been customers we never seen this person before and was hostessing. She was rude and so obnoxious we almost left but we were hungry. The Bacon Wrapped Dates were very tasty, but I have to say I enjoyed the Chicken Wonton Tacos more. I had the Seared Ahi Tuna salad and it literally has the biggest piece of Tuna. My sister enjoyed the pasta and said the Matador drink was very unique. Our waitress was very attentive and refilled my ice teas.
