My sister and I come often here because we absolutely love the food and the micheladas they're easily our favorites and very convenient because we live near by However, the service consistently is horrible every time we come we are rarely checked on for drink refills or to see how we're doing. During our visit today with a friend, the staff dropped off her menu and water but never returned to take her order. Instead, they focused on cleaning around us and didn't look in our direction so we can get their attention until the very end when the kitchen was closed. Mind you every time we come there's no more than two or three tables present.

My very first time here, I was beyond impressed with the food . The inside of the restaurant is decorated very nice with art all over the walls and they have patio seating. The Horchata tasted very authentic and the alcoholic beverages were not tiny at all. The food was AMAZING! They also had delicious chips and salsa right when you sit down with a side of beans. Good spot for any occasion.

Located on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. This is their 2nd location. Great service. Nice clean environment and a nice ambiance with music playing in the background . I came for a drink and oysters. I got the prepared oysters (shrimp and fish ceviche on top of raw oysters). It was delicious. The server suggested the regular oysters (will try next time). I didn't order any other entrees but I look forward to coming back and trying other menu options.

The octopus tacos were amazing. I never tried octopus tacos at all until I called one day and decided to try them. People kept telling me about them so I had to see what the hype was all about. Presentation was nice but the flavors is what really made me say, Wow Delicious ! Definitely ordering them again. Thanks Catch 818 !

THERE'S ONLY ONE place you need to consider for your mariscos/fresh seafood cravings. The service is always great. The hostess and waitresses are attentive and super helpful. Great selection of food items for the pickiest of eaters. Awesome selection of beer and drinks. The setting is very chill. Open and airy right on Ventura blvd w/ a view of the street life. Indoor and outdoor seating options available.

All the seafood dishes were amazing, served fresh with amazing flavor. Service was great! Surprisingly not crowded for the quality of food, should be packed on weekends!

Unforgettable experience! Definitely coming back here for a date night. The ambience is very colorful and inviting. The staff is very friendly , accommodating, and we will take special dietary requests. The Ribeye Aguachile was soooo good, cooked and delicious. Shrimp tacos were incredible. Guac was insane! Met up with a friend on a Friday night for an early happy hour dinner. Since we didn't have…read morereservations, the host let us know they'd need the table back in about 1.5 hours. No problem... except no one came to us for ever. We were maybe 1 of 4/5 tables in the place. Finally we flagged down someone who got our drinks going. Looks like he was the bartender - bar did have people too. Took awhile to get some food going as well, but we did eventually. Staff was friendly, so other than the waiting, it was a great time. We had some froses which were yummy. Wings were good and we LOVED the crab cakes, though we thought they were on the small side. Loved atmosphere and definitely will come back.

I decided to try The Local Peasant because I wanted a good ole California breakfast and absolutely…read morelove this name. And it fits this venue perfectly. Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

This was my first time at Tipsy Cow, and I have mixed emotions. The atmosphere is casual and…read morefestive, with TV's playing sports and a varied crowd that includes daters, older couples, families and singles making the most of their weekend. There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

I really try to like Tipsy Cow a lot more than I do. And, I have friends that love it here, so I…read moretry to really love it. That said, I think it's just meh. The food is just not that great. It's just "ok". For some reason I remember it being so much better but the food is just not good.
