    Taco Tuesday $1.99 each.

One of the few places that I know everyone will love. Early dinner on Saturday night is a must here. It gets very busy and packed. I always get tacos or carnitas. It never fails. Tried the choco flan since we had a party of 5. Delicious. The flan was more like cheesecake. It wasn't as soft and custardy. The chocolate was like a ding dong cake. Delicioso!

So upset to not have known about this place before !! Service is THE GREATEST !!! But the food !! Is something else it's been a while since I wanted to try everything in the menu.

Small parking lot but lots of spaces were open when we arrived! Very warm and inviting staff when we walked in and the space is cute inside. Complimentary chips & salsa were served, salsa was a little liquidy. We ordered the: Green Chicken Enchiladas: thick tortillas, chicken was on the drier side and under seasoned Beef Fajitas: more flavorful than the enchiladas, tortillas came nice and warm Decent portion sizes on everything!

Family owned authentic Mexican restaurant, yes please! It's located in a small shopping plaza off balboa. Inside has a good amount of table seating with a bar off to the side. Also, met the owner and he hand-makes all the Agua frescas and syrups for the margaritas. I got a jamica Agua Fresca, delicious! It even had some of the dried flowers in it. I also got the potato taco plate, they are crispy and had good flavor. I added some of the salsa on the table to them as well, I like my tacos spicy. They also offer two types of beans, whole (vegan) and refried (which has pork), I opted for the whole beans with a side of rice. Food was amazing, flavors were really good, will be back to try something new. Also HH is from 3-7 during the week.

Came here again with some friends and honestly - still 11/10. Service was amazing. The owner was super helpful. I always love supporting family owned businesses. This spot is one for the books. The food and service is always delicious. Love coming here!! (Parking is still small and somewhat hard)

Living only a few blocks away, it is pretty amazing how we didn't notice this place for the past 5 years. The food is really good, slightly different from other Taco places( inna good way). The environment is great, you can watch sports from every angle, and the service is really amazing! We wish this place all the best, and we will definitely be back shortly!

Xochipilli is located in a strip mall off of Balboa and Sherman Way and I'm so glad I gave it a try. There's plenty of space to sit and I appreciate its Mexican authenticity. Our server was friendly and quick to bring us our drinks, chips and salsa and take our order. Our order arrived promptly as well. I had the birria enchiladas plate and enjoyed every bite. My vegetarian sister had the potato tacos and said she would order again. My son had the torta de asada and said it earned being in his top 3 torta list. I will be returning to Xochipilli and will be recommending it to anyone craving Mexican food in the valley.

The food AMAZING! The service- welcoming, warm, inviting!! Jorge (owner) was sooo attentive! Our server was equally as attentive, kind and very helpful. I had the chorizo burrito and that was super yummy! Those papitas (potatoes) it comes with reminded me of my grandma's cooking. Hats off to the chef. Will definitely be back!!!

Last time I gave this restaurant six stars; this time I'm giving it seven! Five years after first opening their doors, they are still upholding the same high standards they started with. Quality, flavor, ambiance, service, cleanliness and menu items all deserve a solid seven stars! On this visit, we ordered the carne asada plate, the whole fried tilapia, and a taco plate. The steak was cooked exactly to our request- medium, juicy, flavorful and tender. The rice and beans rounded out the plate perfectly. The tacos came on fresh, flavorful corn tortillas. I tried the aseda, barrio, carnitas, corn and poblano (veggie) tacos. Each one had its own character and the consome served alongside elevated every bite. I expected it to be overly salty, but to my surprise it was balanced and delicious. The talapia was beautifully crispy without being greasy and the tangy savory saucs served with the tortilla chips paired perfectly with the fish. By the end of the meal, everyone at our table agreed: we need to come here more often to explore the rest of the menu. But for us, the tacos stole the show and will be a regular staple for our orders.

We're back! A very well put together restaurant. Very cute. We ordered the 4 taco combo with a shrimp, a pablano queso, a fried potato and I can't remember the fourth one. It is served with rice and beans a continues to satisfy my craving for really tasty Mexican food. Hubby ordered the carne asada burrito, also yummy and keeps us coming back. Of course we must have the guacamole to complement the fresh chips and mouth watering salsas.

Since we ordered online, I cannot comment on their parking, seating, or service. Carne asada tacos 1.5/5, this was sadly a complete miss :( the tacos themselves had minimal flavoring and tasted bland throughout. They came with some green salsa which was fine but also with lemons?? as opposed to limes? I've seen other reviews mention that sometimes the quality from this place goes down and my friends and I picked this spot based on their previous positive experiences so it's possible I could have ordered at a bad night

Really good reviews from a food truck?! There's no way. Curiosity got the best of me. We got 2 guacamole tacos (one chicken, one asada), one cheese taco (asada), and one regular large taco (chicken), with an order of esquite, and 2 Cokes. Order was placed with the DoorDash app (even though I was parked right next door) and waited less than 30 minutes for my order to be ready. I highly recommend the large hand-pressed guacamole tacos with asada. AMAZING. I would drive out here (about one hour) for these tacos, again. The esquites was good. More lime than I'm used to, but not bad actually. I liked it. Also, the green salsa? REALLY good. Add it to your taco! I get the hype. I look forward to coming back here and trying out other menu items.

In a city where Mexican food is probably the primary dining option; one might think that it is all…read morethe same: that a taco here is the same as a taco there. This line of thinking is completely false as each region and state in Mexico has distinct flavors, cultural preparations and unique ingredients. Luckily in the City of Angels; we have access to all of these styles whereas everyone can pick and choose their favorite! I was in the North Hills/Mission Hills area and decided Mexican was going to be the meal of the day - and thanks to the trusty Yelp app: Tacos al Tijuanense was the winner to satisfy my hunger pang. If you are a longtime LA resident or born-and-raised within the city limits and can swear to Tacos al Tijuanense sounding familiar/remembering that it was a food truck... Then your memory doesn't deceive you. Tacos al Tijuanense birthed as a food truck in 1987 quickly gaining popularity for its smoked meats and Tijuana-inspired flavors serving tacos, vampiros, quesadillas, birria tacos, etc; loaded with fresh toppings and offering a variety of meats for the protein selection. The LA love for Tacos al Tijuanense caused such popularity that the food truck expanded into brick-and-mortar locations with several now spread throughout the city. The North Hills location of Tacos al Tijuanense holds real estate near the Woodly/Nordhoff intersection in a small strip plaza shopping center that seems half sleepy and half eyebrow-raising. But, as most of us know, the hidden gems are usual the best spots so don't be deterred by such businesses like the sketchy massage parlor next door. In fact, diners will be pleasantly surprised when crossing the threshold of the entrance to find an airy interior with high ceilings, natural light, wooden accents and the combination of a trendy- almost gastropub sticking to the food truck theme (there is even a food truck motif behind the order counter) that feels like a party. Tacos al Tijuanense is not what you would expect from the outside! Tacos al Tijuanense is fast-casual meaning you order behind the counter and take a number to the table of your choice. After browsing the menu, my boyfriend chose a Quesadilla (13" tortilla filled with protein of your choice, jack cheese, cilantro and salsa with my boyfriend picking chicken - $13) and a Vampiro (toasted corn tortilla layered with jack cheese, choice of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa with al pastor - $3). For my order, I also went with a Vampiro but with chicken while also ordering Nachos to share with carne asada. When our plates arrived, we were surprised to see the size of the portions. Everything at Tacos al Tijuanense is large and in charge and they most certainly do not skimp! The fillings are overflowing with bright, fresh ingredients, toppings are numerous and the size overall makes everything shareable. My Vampiro was crisp with delicious guacamole that added a refreshing element and tender, tasty chicken. My favorite was my boyfriend's Quesadilla which was gooey, warm and perfect. You can't go wrong with a quesadilla! But we have to talk about the nachos because these nachos are HUGE! This is party size and could generously feed three people. The carne asada was heavenly and the chips tasted homemade. The only slightly "meh" factor was that the cheese atop the nachos was canned cheese and we would have preferred melted shredded cheese. This wouldn't have been such an issue had the canned cheese been in a rational amount but it seemed like a Costco-sized can poured onto these chips! These nachos were hidden under cheese glop! Regardless, they were still delicious. Tacos al Tijuanense holds true to its almost 40-year-old fame with affordable prices, delicious food, large portions giving you a bang for your buck and a surprisingly inviting ambiance. Tacos al Tijuanense is definitely recommended and the North Hills location is much recommended despite its odd plaza placement.
